42179 Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit
hawran replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI don't want to look like a nitpicker, it's generally impressive model, but should the Earth be tilted towards the Sun on June/July, while tilted from the Sun on December? It's flipped in the instructions imho... what do you think?

[MOC] steam engine Albatros 498.0
Yes, of course he takes care of the model(s) :) He's very proud we have Albatros on shelf :) The color matching was as easy as taking some blue LEGO parts to the local store and just compare. Luckily we found almost the same hue. It's kind of Oracal selfadhesive professional vinyl. Well, now the part can be found in the blue color. Thanks! Yes that's Albatros. And I must say that the one in the picture is #22 (498.022) - the exact real one the model was built by! Thanks a lot to you all! Happy to see that you like the model.

[MOC] steam engine Albatros 498.0
Hello Eurobrickers! After set 7597 Western Train Chase has been released, I decided to build former Czechoslovakia most beautiful steam engine - Albatros, construction line 498.0, just becaus this set icludes red steam engine wheels. The real engine has been produced in Czechoslovakia since 1948. Building was with some technical troubles especially keep the color scheme. Some parts (at the moment of building) has not been produced in appropriate colors and thus I "colored" them with professional self adhesive foil of the LEGO - blue color. Except of sticking some parts with the foil it's pure LEGO. Note, that I rather build a "toy" for my son rather than model. I've used BigBenBricks as rear truck wheels, those from LEGO did not fit my idas well. In the pictures it can be seen first CAD design, cab detail to compare foiled and non-foiled parts and then the final model. Hope you'll like it!

AAA Battery Box (88000) vs. Rechargeable Battery Box (8878)
I'd definitely prefer AAA battery box (88000). Recently I asked myself the same questions... Comparing pros and cons the "common" battery box wins, because if you buy low- or mid-priced AAA batteries (10-12 pcs for some 1.5 EUR - comparing to 50 EUR for rechargeable box) and encounter a "short" time to replace batteries it's clear... And someone wrote this here - will the rechargeable box work after 20 years...?
