"...in the hot rolling mill, metal is stretched and compressed into different shapes and sizes. A train carries molten slag from the blast furnace to the slag pit. Once it cools, it will be repurposed into everything from construction filler to diet pills. Workers in heat resistant suits help to oversee the process." "Next week on How It's Made: apples, earthquakes and babies!"
  3. 43 credits to Bob please.
  4. Awesome speeder! Lots of great NPU and greebles - I especially like the "boat stud" on the front with the 4 flick fire missiles plugged into it.
  5. LOL. I love the MANTIS hydroponics lab. Great details, like the little handle on the water pump. The rounded bricks on the back wall add a really nice shape too.
  6. Awesome speeder - nice use of the tentacle pieces for shaping, and the bayonets (?) on the front add some great detail without making it look bulky. Good work!
  7. I agree with the others - awesome microscale ship. I also love how your character rolls up to the MANTIS warehouse in an old-school style Octan truck . The warehouse is cool - I think it could use some minor tweaks to make it even better. If you used tiles for the parking lot, that would help to separate it from the rest of the terrain, and maybe if you had the loadng areas that the trucks are backed into sticking out a bit more. Great build overall though!
  8. Cool ship - I especially like the air intakes on the wings and the rounded sides. The top seems a little flat to me (although I might be biased towards too many greebles); maybe if you raised the roof so that the middle two studs were one plate higher than the sides, it might add more texture. That's just a minor suggestion, though - awesome ship overall. Also, I hope your week is much less stressful from here on out!
  9. Great speeder, and I really like the way you built it's wake in the water. Using the trans dots instead of plates under the speeder makes it look like the speeder is pressing down on the water, and then the water is kind of erupting up as the speeder passes - very cool.
  10. Hooray - the good doctor is back! I like the green slope pieces for grass, especially in contrast to the sharp angles of the tunnels. My only suggestion for improvement would be to build something which fills the gap around the tunnel, to block the light coming from behind. Photoing on top of a black background might work too. Overall, though, awesome build and I'm glad you're back!
  11. Location: Donwarr - E01 Tags: Land vehicle, exploration On board the OCS Treaty Enforcer, orbiting Donwarr, the first mate brings an urgent message to the captain. Captain, one of our combat scouts just sent in a report, and I'm not sure what to make of it. His sensors pinged something metal in an area that was supposed to be empty... Great Scott! Was it Mounties?!? Sir, do you mean MANTIES? Dammit, Janet - we've talked about you correcting me in front of the crew. Yes. Yes we have. Anyway, it's not M.A.N.T.I.S. - it's ... one of ours. It's definitely an Ophelia class submarine, and the serial numbers on all the parts he's checked so far match the sub that disappearedon Jurin II. But that doesn't make any sense - how could a submarine travel between planets? I don't know, but our CLAPPIE double checked all his data and the numbers are definitely a match. There's something else ... . His CLAPPIE unit analyzed the plant growth and sediment deposits around the sub, and it says the submarine has been there for at least a year. How time flies. It seems like it was only a few weeks ago that explorer Caslaugh-Sing disappeared. Sir, it was only a few weeks ago that she disappeared. None of it makes sense. He's doing a full site survey now, and our CLAPPIE is double checking all his data. If we learn anything, I'll let you know. --------------------
  12. Wow, a pair of beautiful builds this week. I really like the center antenna portion on the top of the ship - great job integrating the round pieces into the hull. That mech is a beast - really great job getting the industrial feel and making the greebles look functional. My only suggestion would be maybe some more greebles on the mech's "head." I think maybe some bars as handles next to the hatch and some lights near the front window might tie the top into the body a little more. Those are just minor details though - this is awesome overall!
  13. Lol, love the cannon on top. Both mechs are fun - I think the MANTIS one looks more like a "work" mech, although I like the "caution" stripes on the Octan mech. I'm not sure I like the feet on the Octan mech - the brick-built feet on the MANTIS mech look more integrated, IMO. Nice work overall!
  14. That's a sweet little Octan ship, and I like the hardsuit as well! The smaller text in this one was really hard to read, even after clicking through to flickr ... you might consider posting the photos with more text separately, instead of combining them all within the mosaic. That would also make it easier to see some of the details on your builds.
  15. Love the microscale ships! The big one has some nice details, but I think the smaller drone steals the show with those great "eyes" and antenna on the front.
  16. Oops, sorry this is late! 50 to Bob please.
  17. A lot of awesomeness in this build! The cliff with the overhanging vegetation looks great, and you do a really good job with the minifig posing and facial expressions. Also, it's nice to get a change from all the corporate fighting we've seen lately

Great microscale factory - NPU with the car grille piece - and those micro trees are nice too. I looked through his profile ... honestly can't tell if he's trolling or not

Welcome back! I'm loving the speeder - I'm a big fan of small vehicles with lots of details - and your photography is excellent.

I'm loving that tree - it's a very cool blend of organic and metal. I think you also did a really nice job on the backgrounds - they do a great job conveying a darker mood, without distracting or taking anything away from the build. Speaking of distracting, I do have to question Ma's choice of attire in a hazardous environment ...
  21. I really like the little rover type vehicle - I think the texture of those front arms and the single sticker give it just the right amount of detail. Great antenna too! I had the exact same thought as Sal when I saw your antenna dish - it made me want to steal the technique and do a fruit stand MOC

Location: E02 – Jurin II Tags: Octan, Land vehicle Note: this build takes place shortly after Oceanographer's Choice. 01 Febrarali 3816 Octan Mobile Command Center “This is Dragonfly 4, calling Octan Command.” “Go ahead for Octan Command.” “Our Guppy has reached the site of the crashed M.A.N.T.I.S. ship. The datacore has been removed from the ship, but there's no sign of the Ophelia, or of explorer Caslaugh-Sing. The M.A.N.T.I.S ship crashed in the middle of a hydrothermal vent field, so it's possible the Ophelia was damaged by one of the plumes, but I'm not picking anything up on our sensors.” “Roger that, Dragonfly. Stand by. Octan Command to Engineering Team.” “Go for Engineering Team.” “Have you determined the maximum dive time for the Ophelia?” “That's affirmative, command, we just finished our calculations. Ignoring all safety parameters, Ophelia can stay submerged for up to 18 hours. After that time, there will not be sufficient oxygen to support life.” “How long has she been down there?” “Sir, she started her dive 26 hours ago.” “Copy that. Octan Command to all units, I'm suspending the surface search for Explorer Caslaugh-Sing. All Dragonfly Boats, retrieve your submersibles and return to base. Air units, continue to fly grid pattern 3-delta – there's still a chance that she surfaced somewhere off course, and has been unable to communicate. CLAPPIE, any luck locating Lu's CLAPPIE unit?” “Sorry boss, Lu's CLAPPIE is missing from the network. It would appear that the Ophelia has been lost." "Alright. Damn. ... Let's get packed up - we still have a war to fight." -------------------

  24. Thanks Kai! Thanks guys! I used PicMonkey.com to help darken the edges of some of the pics, and used Gimp to darken the background of the last one (I also shot against black paper, so that made the editing much easier). Thanks judges!
  25. Cool scene - I just picked up my first few Nexo Knights sets, and they're a lot of fun! Flickr is a pain - the way I do it (and someone else might have a faster way) is like this: -click the download arrow on the lower right of the photo, and select "view all sizes" -when you've picked the image size you want, right click on the image and select "open image in new tab" -copy/paste the image URL into the image box on Eurobricks (the box that pops up when you click the image button) Hope that made sense - welcome to Eurobricks!
