  3. OK thanks for the help. I edited the opening post to match the new content. Can the topic title to changed to Modular Madness Butcher / Pizzeria
  4. So do you think I should edit the opening post? Or should I re-enter both buildings together in the contest?
  5. Sorry about that, I included an interior photo by mistake. I'll correct it. Yes of course, didn't think about that. The building was 16 x 16 studs when I started. But at some point I wanted a cool cell to store the meat and since there was plenty of empty space at the back that looked very inviting to do something with it came natural to add a bit. I do I have an another building on a 16 x 32 base plate I can add.
  6. B-OM-33A Hello Everyone, Just in time for the closing date I could finish my entry for the third category, classic modular buildings. It's a butcher shop, although you can't really tell from the outside as I couldn't come up with a design for a sign I was happy with. It's just after 6 in the evening so the butcher and his assistant are closing up for the day. The pizzeria next to him is preparing for a busy night as thier hungry customers are waiting for their dinner. Both buildings together. A suit and delivery man are enjoying the view from the terras. DSC00425 by merkal_kahil, on Flickr Close-up of the pizzeria kitchen. Baking oven, prep table, counter and office space. DSC00426 by merkal_kahil, on Flickr The butcher's kitchen is made up by a counter complete with kitchen cabinets, bar with drawers, dinner table with matching chairs and a fridge. DSC00427 by merkal_kahil, on Flickr Pizzeria first floor dining area with stairs and door leading to balcony. The restaurant has more on their menu then pizzas alone, as seen on the photo below. B-OM-26E My entry for the Modular Madness contest in the second category Parks and Rec. Description: Lego City citizens are cooling off at the Fountain on a warm summer's day. A father is buying ice scream for his young son while his wife scowls the dog for doing his deed to a nearby tree. Other seek the shadow of a patch of trees while others just walk by minding their own business. ~Modular Madness City Square01 by merkal_kahil, on Flickr ~Modular Madness City Square02 by merkal_kahil, on Flickr ~Modular Madness City Square03 by merkal_kahil, on Flickr ~Modular Madness City Square04 by merkal_kahil, on Flickr ~Modular Madness City Square05 by merkal_kahil, on Flickr
  8. I hung my pirate ships, Blacksea barracuda, Caribbean Clipper, Brickbeard's Bounty, the recent Space Shuttle and lighter stuff like Viking creatures. What I did was make a thick beam of bricks and plates with at the end 2x2 bricks with holes and run cotton wires from the ship to the beam, I had to modify the ship slightly by strenghting the connection points . Then run two more wires from each end to the other and hang it on a big hook. The extra wires make it possible to balance the set.

I love it. Very clever build.
  10. Brilliant work, the buidings look like they come right from the film. Don't like Carpet's design though but yeah I understand it's diffecult design to make from Lego. I've blogged your creation at Streetrat

Nice MOC! Love the suspension. Big Buzz Lightyear fan here.
  12. Here's how I've done it: I left a 3 x 2 gap in the roof for the sensor. As you can see with PF lights the inside is a hopeless mess. I took the prisim out, while the light is now white instead of yellow/red it's equally strong on both sides. With prism the emmited light is stronger on one light then the other.
  13. The nose wasn't desiged to hold a plate, I had to remove the Train Light Prism 1 x 4 then put the PF lights in it. The rest of the wagon is occupied by both the IR sensor and the batterybox so there wasn't enough room to hide the wireing. But yes putting a classic 9v light with an extension cable is a good idea and has less wiring to hide.
  14. Remember to modify the roof to make room for the top of the IR receiver. I made a gap of 3 studs long by 2 studs wide. I also included the PF lights in my Metroliner but you have to remove the controlpanel and chair plus round 1x1 trans bricks fall of them so you have to do with white lights.
  15. great review! This is my favorite Lego town set from my childhood and the biggest one too! I often come across those titles with tools prints when going through my title collection it always brings back memories how high it was for that time. I think if it would be updated to modern 6-wide standard the parkinggarage alone would need 2 32x32 baseplates. I imagine the lift could be Power Functions powered. That would be so cool.
