I was surprised when I heard that the Bad Cop Car Chase was $30, since that seemed kind of overpriced (especially compared to all of the other LEGO Movie sets), but it's good to hear that it's actually $25. I'm still not too keen on the design, though...

MEC Category C: The Wrath of Smaug

Nice model! It's great how you were able to capture Smaug's sheer massiveness while still staying within the 16x16 stud limits.

In this re-envisioning of the classic story, Bilbo decides that he's had enough of adventure and stays in Lake-Town while the dwarves continue on to the Lonely Mountain. These sets seem kind of overpriced ... how can a 234-piece set cost $40?

Speaking of The LEGO Movie, Creative Ambush includes a saloon biplane with barstools, bottles, shutters, a "Saloon" sticker, lots of brown parts, and two western minifigures. And you can get the Colby City Showdown and Silver Mine Shootout from the Lone Ranger theme for just under retail price on Amazon right now.

Anyone else think that Boulder Blaster would make a great-looking steampunk ship?

Batman and Super Angry Kitty Attack (Whew! That's a long name)- Despite the exclusive Unikitty variant, this set just feels overpriced. Double-Decker Couch- This is definitely going to be the most popular set, what with the four exclusive minifigure (plus Emmett). Other than that, this set just doesn't really seem to form anything coherent- it seems like the designers just made it so they would have somewhere to put the extra figures. Bad Cop Car Chase- It's great to get a set with Bad Cop and his signature chair, but why doesn't he have his Good Cop alt-face? That was the characters biggest draw! The police car also seems like a step back for LEGO in terms of design. My final opinion is that this wave is great for minifigures, not so much for the actual sets. I find it kind of interesting that LEGO decided to release a wave of big Movie sets in the summer and another wave of small sets half a year later. My guess is that they were originally going to have two waves, but the movie turned out to be such a huge hit that they decided to split the second wave.

See if you can find any Lone Ranger sets at your local store. The theme was discontinued at the beginning of the year, but there may still be a few sets somewhere out in the wild. You'll probably want to pick up a couple of Comanche Camps if you're planning on building an Indian village, and the Constitution Train is a must-buy.

I have An Unexpected Gathering and Goblin King Battle and the two complement each other quite nicely. Between them, you get Bilbo, two Gandalfs (which isn't a big issue), seven dwarves (that's half the company!), three generic baddies and a big bad, plus a good guy base and a bad guy base.

Just a thought ... if you put the Witch-King's crown on a transparent head on a Ringwraith's body (or some other body in dark armor), you'd have a pretty cool-looking book-accurate Witch King. Has anyone already tried this?

A month ago, I put a project on LEGO Ideas called the Lord of the Rings Advent Calendar (you can see it in my signature). As of this writing, it's at 184 supporters, which isn't necessarily bad, but I made some calculations and it turns out that I need an average of 200 supporters a week if I want to reach 10,000 supporters before the 1-year deadline. I read in an interview with a LEGO Ideas moderator that the secret to making it to the review stage is to persistently promote your project everywhere you can, whether it's in or outside the LEGO fan community. So far, the only thing I've done is start a topic about my project on this forum. Does anyone here know of any websites that you think would be interested in supporting my idea? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum ... I wasn't sure where to put this topic when I posted it.

If I had to rank all of the sets based on pictures alone, my list would look like this: 1. Lake-Town Attack- Sure, the minifigure selection is sub-par, but at $30, this set is one of the best deals in the entire Middle-Earth theme. Plus it looks great alongside the existing Lake-Town set. 2. Witch King Battle- Three exclusive minifigures for only $13 is almost unheard of. 3. The Lonely Mountain- Smaug looks great, but this set just doesn't remind me of Erebor ... replacing the mine section with two giant dwarf statues and a horde of gold would have made this a must-buy for me. 4. Battle of the 5 Armies- It's certainly not as terrible as everyone first believed it would be, but this set's mixed minifigure selection and uninteresting design don't justify the $60 price tag.

I know that there are multiple 'favorite minifigure' topics out there, but this list is for the best of the best, whether they're from Lord of the Rings or Legends of Chima. If the 2015 DC set rumors are true, it could turn out to be the best year for LEGO Superheroes yet...

Another similarity between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies: both had second movies with climactic battles that ended up becoming $130 LEGO sets. And on the subject of the Bag End set, if you ever come across it at your local store, BUY IT. Everything about it is incredible- the minifigures, the design, and the parts are all amazing. I own one and it's awesome.

Please count me in! I've been reading everything I could about New York Comic Con over the past couple of years in the hopes that I may someday be able to go there. I've never been to a Comic Con or even a LEGO convention before, so this would be a totally new experience for me. P.S. If I happen to win two LEGO-sponsored contests for tickets to New York Comic Con, what happens then? I'm not saying that it's likely, but you never know...
