  8. Transforming the Lego Technic Off Road Multifunction Truck MK3: A Customization Journey Lego Technic has long been a favourite among enthusiasts for their complexity and the endless possibilities they offer for customization. The Off Road Multifunction Truck MK3 (ORMFTmk3) is no exception. As a dedicated Lego builder, I've taken on the challenge of enhancing this already impressive c model, to fit my needs better. Here's a look at the modifications I've made so far and some plans for future improvements. New Wheels and Tyres One of the first modifications I made to the ORMFTmk3 was upgrading the wheels and tyres. The original wheels were good, but I wanted something that could handle more rugged terrain and give the truck a more aggressive look. After some research, I found a set of more robust tyres that fit perfectly with the existing wheel hubs. These new tyres not only improve the truck's off-road capabilities but also enhance its overall aesthetic. Extended Rear Chassis To provide more space for future attachments and to improve the truck's balance, I decided to extend the rear chassis. This modification involved adding several new parts to lengthen the frame and reinforce it to ensure stability. The extended chassis allows for better weight distribution, which is crucial when carrying heavy loads or attaching new equipment. Improved A-Pillars The A-pillars on the original model were a bit flimsy and prone to bending under pressure. To address this, I reinforced the A-pillars with additional Technic beams and connectors. This modification has significantly increased the structural integrity of the cab, making it more durable during heavy use. Modifications to Rear Tray Tilting One of the most functional aspects of the ORMFTmk3 is its tilting rear tray. However, I noticed that the mechanism could be smoother and more efficient. I reworked the tilting mechanism by replacing some of the parts and adding additional supports to the tray. These changes have resulted in a smoother tilting action and improved reliability when dumping loads. Future Plans While these modifications have already made a noticeable difference, I have lots of plans for further improvements. Here are a few ideas I'm currently exploring: Modular Attachments: Designing a series of interchangeable attachments for various tasks, such as a crane, winch, and different types of cargo beds. Electronic Upgrades: Incorporating motors and remote-control capabilities for more dynamic functionality. Improved Body Style and Looks: The front end I feel could do with some improvements, I have noticed that it does fall off at times. The decision to use the ORMFTmk3 as the base for these modifications was driven by its better scale and compatibility compared to the older truck I was using. The older model presented too many issues with sizing and fitting the attachments I had in mind. The MK3's design provides a more suitable foundation for the complex modifications and improvements I want to achieve. Conclusion The Lego Technic Off Road Multifunction Truck MK3 is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in customizing and enhancing their Lego models. With the modifications I've made so far, the truck is better equipped to handle a variety of tasks and terrains. The journey of modifying the ORMFTmk3 has been incredibly rewarding, and I look forward to sharing more updates as I continue to refine and enhance this versatile vehicle. If you're considering taking on a similar project, I encourage you to dive in and see where your creativity takes you. Happy building! https://paulbtechnic.blogspot.com/2024/07/lego-technic-ormftmk3-15072024.html

  14. Review - LEGO Technic C-Model 42138 Dump Truck by technic.norm.brick The LEGO Technic 42138 C Model Dump Truck offers an engaging building experience coupled with a few notable features and room for improvement. Build Process and Clear Building Guide: The build process of the LEGO Technic 42138 C Model Dump Truck is commendable, characterized by its detailed instructions and intuitive construction. The designers clear building guide ensures that builders of various skill levels can follow along easily, making it a satisfying project from start to finish. Hand of God Steering Mechanism: One of the standout features of this model is its "Hand of God" steering mechanism. This mechanism allows for precise control over the truck's direction, adding a layer of realism and playability to the model. It functions smoothly and effectively, enhancing the overall user experience. Rear Tipping Tray: The rear tipping tray, while a central feature of any dump truck model, has its pros and cons in this rendition. While it effectively raises to dump the load, there is room for improvement in its lowering mechanism. The tray does not lower automatically and requires manual assistance, which may slightly detract from the play experience for some users. Overall Assessment: The LEGO Technic 42138 C Model Dump Truck is a well-designed and enjoyable build that offers both challenges and rewards. The clear instructions and engaging build process ensure that builders will find satisfaction in assembling this model. The Hand of God steering adds realism and functionality, although the rear tipping tray could benefit from enhancements to its lowering mechanism for smoother operation. In conclusion, the LEGO Technic 42138 C Model Dump Truck is a solid choice for fans of construction vehicles and LEGO Technic enthusiasts alike, offering a good balance of build complexity and playability despite minor room for improvement in its functionality.
  15. Those changes look good, much improved.
  16. Nice work, I like the colours and features.
  17. Nice work, I like how the hood opens.
  18. MOC - 42151 C Model American Truck - Recovery Tow Attachment Mk2 As a passionate LEGO Technic builder, I'm thrilled to share my latest creation: the Recovery Tow Attachment Mk2 for the LEGO Technic 42151 C Model American Truck. This custom design transforms the standard American truck into a powerful recovery vehicle, ready to tackle any heavy-duty towing job. Below, I'll take you through the inspiration, design process, and features of this unique MOC (My Own Creation). The inspiration for the Recovery Tow Attachment Mk2 came from my fascination with real-life tow trucks and their complex machinery. I wanted to create a realistic and functional attachment that could seamlessly integrate with the LEGO Technic 42151 C Model American Truck. My goal was to design an attachment that not only looked authentic but also provided a challenging and rewarding building experience. This attaches using the same mounting points and system as my previous attachment and this is the standard mounting system I will use with this truck for attachments in the future. I started by studying various types of recovery tow trucks and their mechanisms. Using my existing collection of LEGO Technic pieces, I built several prototypes to test different mechanisms and configurations. Each prototype helped me refine the design, ensuring that the attachment was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. After multiple iterations, I finalized the design and created a detailed parts list. The final build involved careful assembly, ensuring that all moving parts operated smoothly and the attachment securely connected to the truck. The Recovery Tow Attachment Mk2 has two features: - Tow Arm with Tow Line: This is controlled by the front set of black gears and has a lever to automatically lock this line in place as it is reeled in. - Recovery Lifter: This is controlled by the rear set of black gears and is used to lift the wheels of the towed vehicle to allow his to be safely towed. Overall, this is the attachment I have spent the most time and effort on designing and building, I am very happy with how it has turned out.
