Rockbrick replied to Richter's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingits why lego made 4ws on the crawler 9398 using CV joints with the new hubs inside large wheels will make it turn better but less ability to handle a lot of torque

Rockbrick replied to Leif's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelinghow about the F1 car hubs and CV joints and making it more centre point steering - I know you said no bump steer but with those bendy 6L arms and such a distance away from the centre point of steering crawling could be an issue in some situations

Fast axle for heavy vehicle
Rockbrick replied to Richter's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingyou need the torque to overcome the inertia to get the thing moving - so maybe some sort of variable transmission would help or just a simple LO-HI ratio gear box
-
Alternative to Pneumatics
Rockbrick replied to mvshabeer's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingsyringes are great in schools for showing the principle of how master/slave cylinders work and basic hydraulics and its great to see technic compatible connectors for the syringes problem is if you add a compressor and pump away happily - the syringes will shoot out as they have no stoppers
-

Part : Technic Link with Stoppers vs Technic Link without Stoppers
Rockbrick replied to darksheep's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingdepends which way in the ball joints will go - though if you force them the go in the wrong side of the stoppers one anyway and horror of all horrors you could always cut the tabs off if you were really desperate and needed to

Rockbrick replied to whale2's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling"...has no right to work" is what people would say of the 747 if they saw one in the 1920s is what people would say of electric lightbulbs when they were invetned - but as Edison said "I have not failed 10,000 times I just found 10,000 ways that do not work.... getting it airborne is possible - keeping it airborne is the next episode of this adventure...

[TC5] The Dawnbreaker
Rockbrick replied to MajklSpajkl's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingVery nice looking off-roader huge caster(castor?) angle needed for the pull back to work properly - not much ground clearance - liited by the wheels of the sets you chose but that would look ace with larger wheeels
-
