  1. Very nice. I'd change the truck to a Dually, meaning it has dual rear wheels on either side, so it looks more heavy duty (and fits with its purpose). Looking forward to seeing the finished build.
  2. At last a set to go along with this, which has been somewhat "lonely" :
  3. I think it's great, so many details and really a very original build. As for offending anyone- after all, we are ADULT fans of Lego, no?... :)
  4. I also have both kits- I actually prefer the European style of 60098's engine, but I must say 60052 has much better play features, plus you get two switch-points with the kit. Best to get them both...

Sweet Jesus, I need this kind of setup (layout AND trains) in my life. Very nice.
  6. That Russian fire train deserves a thread of its own. Great work!

The amount of creativity running through this diorama is unbelievable. Absolutely great work.

This is absolutely great work! And it's also nice to see that the bus design is not compromised- it looks very real. Is it going to the Wien westbahnhof, by any chance?... ;-)

Sweet! Well done. I love the axes at the front.

Very very nice. That beige model reminds me of a Renault 16: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/da/Renault_16_TS_001.JPG
  11. This MOC doesn't fall short than any other official Lego kit. In fact, I'd say it's much better. Great work! I especially like the colors combo.

What a great MOC. As always, it's the little details that make it what it is. I really like the flood lights that point to the band, and the chains that hang over the colorful windows- they are almost invisible.
  13. Thanks again for all your comments. As for the spare parts' box, I assume (like someone said above) you get it depending on the country you've bought the kit in. In my case, I got the Hot Rod on Ebay from this Korean seller. The price was right for me, and shipping was free.
  14. ^ Yes, that is indeed short. Actually, "my" photo was of an ERF, just not the right one. Here it is from the front: Yes, I know, it's not the same...
  15. Mate, that's one cute Lego MOC. You've done good.
  16. This is absolutely STUNNING! I've got the 42024 Lego skip loader, which I thought was nice enough- but then you come along with all you ERF's functions, and blow 42024 away... My favorite function is the rising mid-axel, that's cleaver. The only "bad" thing I can say about it is that the truck look to be a little too short, compared to the original: But that's just nit-picking, don't mind it (also, perhaps i'm used to the 42024's extra-long wheel base, done so to facilitate the batteries' box behind the driver's cabin). Great (MOC) work!
  17. Nice review- I like the use of many photos! My thoughts exactly- I was visiting my brother in Wien recently, and debated whether to get this plane or the Container Truck. Eventually, I got the truck (I like trucks better anyway)- it was much cheaper, yes, but that wasn't the issue- the plane is simply too big. I wasn't prepared to hang it from the ceiling like we used to do with plastic models when we were kids...
  18. Hello all. Welcome to my review of the Lego Hot Rod. As with my other reviews, I'll be less technical and more down to earth. So no dry data here, just plain old Lego building. Lets start with the box- it's medium-sized: On the back you will see the usual B model and also the iPad Lego App- we'll get to that later: Open the box and out slide...: Two instruction manuals, decals, building parts (curiously, the front tires were inside a plastic bag but the rear ones were packed bag-free) and also...: ... spare parts box! this is handy, why have't I seen this before? Some images from the first booklet: "Make sure to buy this!": The second booklet starts with the App: And ends with the parts' inventory: Here's a couple of pictures of the iPad App- it's full of features (I explain all about it in the Video attached to this review): You can turn the model to different views in order to get better sense of the parts and how they're attached together: As said above, more in the video. Naturally, I decided to build the Hot Rod with the App and not with the booklet- a new experience: Halfway through the build: Almost there...: Done! * Yes, I know, where are the stickers? I thought they looked awful- couldn't put them on. Leftovers: Well, obviously they go in the box: And now for different angle-shots: Further thought and conclusions are in this video: * Just a correction regarding the video; I spoke about a "movie mode" in the App, which was of course nonsense- it's just a mode that shows you a layer of the finished model underneath the current building stage- rather cleaver! Well, I hope you liked the review- bottom line is that this model is not for everyone, AFOLs will claim it's too simple and lacking enough features, but I like it because it's certainly different. C'mon, it's a Hot Rod! Made of Lego!
  19. This is really very well done, good job. It looks even less "Technic" because there are no gaps or holes in the cabin, like other Lego Technic trucks (That was meant as a complement, yes?).
  20. Good review, plenty of pictures are always welcome! My vote goes for the 854 classic, just because I got it from my parents back in 1980, when I was about 9 years old... Lost_In_Noise; besides front wheels steering and piston-moving, has this kit any other function?
  21. ^ That'll be a monster! Good idea.
  22. I just finished building this one- got it on Monday while visiting my brother in Wien. I love it, those big tires are finally proportional to the body (unlike other Lego trucks- 8041 Race Truck excluded), and I actually think those colors look right for it- I've seen plenty of trucks with those color schemes. And think- I almost bought the 42008 Service Truck, but this one won me over... I didn't bother with any review, having read this immaculate review by Jim\Ted. However, I did want to share with you a video of the power functions- while in the shop, I got the 8293 set, and duly installed it in the truck. the result: I must say, I'm thinking how to incorporate the LEDs into the headlights... hmmm. You shouldn't, that's weird. All that was left after I finished building are few small peaces, no red beam at all. Usually Lego doesn't leave big parts as spares... but who knows.
