  1. Makes me think of set 854, one of the first sets i owned
  2. The discs will spin in their own plane because one of the axles is fixated to the disc, while the other is fixated to the frame, or to the bigger disc.
  3. The postman brought me Parisian Restaurant today. Now i am trying to decide whether to open up the box or to keep it in storage to sell on in a while..
  4. My 3 year old son and I played for an hour straight with this set yesterday, and he was having such a great time. And, he can take the rowboat with him when he takes a bath... What else than top marks for that, especially considering the price.
  5. Thanks for the nice review, Dreamweb! I do like this ship, but then again this is my first pirate set ever, and have only the online reviews of its predecessors to compare it with. I did however find it odd that the jolly roger is attached to the stern instead of flyingg from the highest mast, and placed it up there instead. There"ll be some other small modificatios to make, especially to the sails and the rigging, but for the rest i think this model is pretty good. I don't mind the open cabin so much and the problem with the cannon sticking through the ports and keeping the shutters from closing completely was easily remedied. I'm looking forward to your next review, hopefully of a still to be released complementary set in this pirates wave that will blow everybodies socks off :-)
  6. Great review! I've been eyeing this set ever since you posted this review and it convinced me to buy it today :-) Can't wait to put it together with my son and see him play with it in the bath!
  7. Thanks CopMike for the excitement and fun of this raffle and for the prize!
  8. That looks very nice indeed; I'd love to see some more pictures of the whole thing now it has the clamp on it; like action shots :-)
  9. interesting to see the americans are not adapting to the downward trend seen in the other countries on that graph
  10. Yes it is one of these; the second one. Thanks for finding it! I whish i had the other one as well to make a proper airplane with it :-)
  11. I have a single white wing piece that is 4x8 and has a rounded corner (3x3 studs) area. The bottom has square holes, only located directly opposite to the studs; there are no center holes like you'll find in normal plates these days. I have no idea where this piece comes from and could not find it in the brickset database. I also have a large yellow 21-tooth gear that is 8 studs in diameter, and some printed parts from an old space-themed set, including something that resembles a large tv-screen with a rocket about to be launched to the moon. That space-set is almost complete but i did some nasty things to the base-plates when I was in my early teens and the minifigures are not in very good shape either, unfortunately. [edit]yes i am that old haha[/edit]
  12. I think it looks marvellous! It would be such a nice companion to my little shunter; would you like to share the instructions in an LDD file or series of pictures? I'll do the same with my engine...
  13. I prefer pneumatics too, for all the reasons mentioned by twentyleggedhen
  14. Here's my little Christmas angel, hanging from it's own tree
  15. Looks very nice! Are you going to run the wire to the b.box over the roof? I think the windows are cute!
  16. Yes no problems at all; I think since the lightwaves reflect off walls, ceilings etc. there will always be some approaching at the correct angle. I don't have any more pictures worth putting online skriblez but I'll try to find the time to make an lxf and some screenshots in LDD.
  17. sorry i didn't realize i've been a member only since such a short time; seems like much longer to me. <votes removed>
  18. This is a proper Lego masterpiece. I love that infantile look because it fits so well with how i looked at lego when i first discovered it. The (soccer)balls in the Grand Emporium come to mind as ammunition, but then in black of course.
  19. its scares me so i think it is doing it's job, right? i mean, i would not want my son anywhere near such a contraption. just look at it: the boy would have nightmares for a week.
  20. I think Lego is too fearful of having to rely on their customer's own imagination to go this road. For me personally it would be a blessing. But for Lego's current designer team and their marketing department it would be a nightmare.
  21. I'm interested in 20 and 21 for the parts, and will prolly buy them just for those if they are not overpriced too much. 23 looks very old-skool, wich i like, but apart from the colors they likely can be constructed from my current inventory, so i'll limit myself to downloading the instructions. As far as 25 is concerned; I don't want white panels, but beams etc. When i build mocs i find very little use for panels. But i'll decide when the complete parts list is revealed. The pull-backs aren't technic models imo, and far overpriced. I got the blue one from this year for the parts, and won't be spending more money on them unless again, they make a good parts pack. looks like my wallet will feel less lego-addiction induced pain in 2014 :-)
  22. Most of the enhancements I made to my copy of the 8110 are not very original or particularly elegant, but I wanted to share them here anyway. First of all I redid the front axle/steering setup as per Darjan Platinovsek's design. The steering is still very tough but at least it handles obstacles much better than with the original axle configuration. Thanks Darjan! Secondly I converted the grabber from 42006 to pneumatics and transplanted it onto the Mog. It does not have much power but in my opinion looks much better and it a lot of fun to play with. The battery was moved to the bed, to make room for a DIY airtank. I acquired proper Lego airtanks meanwhile but this old acetone bottle worked just as well. RC conversion is made in a modular way. The inline engine was modified to be easily removable and replaced by an L-motor. RC Steering is also easy to place and remove, only real problem is that there is no clutch gear in this setup, neccessitating a light touch on the remote control. These modifications for RC required moving quite a few pins in the frame so if you are looking for an easy to implement RC-job this is not the one. The reward is worth it though, the Mog can be RC-d in under a minute and vice versa. The locking mechanism for the cabine has been replaced with this setup using two axles 8. It's not the prettiest solution for this problem I've seen on these forums but I wanted something that can be operated while a 1,5 year old boy is hanging from my arms screaming to see the "auto" drive around by magic hahaha. Happy bricking!
  23. Looks very promising legomania! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your work!
  24. I love to see this; I keep designing things my almost-2-year old son can play with as well. One suggestion is to use axles with stop to lock the axles inside the frame. That way the differential will always stay in one piece and he can only pull the wheels/steering wheel/cranks etc. off the axles, which are reasonably easy to reattach for a 2 year old.
