This MOC to me made such a better impression in person than just seeing it introduced here. It looked really good on the PennLug display. Great job with it cgarison.
  2. You're welcome Legogal and eruotrash re. the pictures. I just wanted to share some of what caught either my eye or the families eye. Wow 22,000! Maybe the public hours need to be extended next year? I imagine that makes it hard on the exhibitors but seems like there is obviously interest out there in the general public.
  3. Went down to Brickfair VA yesterday with the wife and boy. We arrived around 11:20 and were in by 11:45. The line was long but moving very quickly at that time. The crowd was crazy and it was hard to get close enough and spend enough time to really enjoy the MOCs at first. Around 1p it really thinned out at the exhibition tables (but not in the food area for sure) and we were able to spend more time enjoying the creations. The GFLUG and PennLUG table were our favorites, but there were so many well executed and original MOCs around the whole venue. It was really cool to see what people do with LEGO. It won't be an every year event for us, probably every other, unless we decide to exhibit (but that means I actually need to finish one of the four MOCs I have started). I took a bunch of pics and put them on flickr. Enjoy. https://flic.kr/s/aHsk1mtza1

I'm actually working on a similar build as my first building MOC. Looks good.
  5. Hmm, I thought it would be cheaper as a kit. I already have two PF trains and track so that isn't an issue for me. But for those starting out, and this is a great looking set to start out with, yes it is an issue that everything isn't sold together.
  6. Just noticed that there is a Horizon Express Kit posted on S@H. Includes the full power functions setup. A full HE can now be had for just over $380USD. Still not cheap but at least they are selling a full setup now, seemingly to address some of the concerns voiced here. I'll definitaly be buying a full setup sometime when the funds are available.
  7. Thanks to all for the welcomes. The first store I went to was the New York City store in Rockefeller center. Since then I've been to KOP twice and Annapolis Md once. Annapolis is my favorite so far. Great selection of stock, and the PAB wall had a good variety. The store manager even brought out three or four boxes of tiles, bricks, etc that weren't on the wall for us to put into our PAB cups.

I was at the King Of Prussia LEGO store on Sunday and Fire Brigade was out of stock of stock there with no more coming in. So I went online and ordered one right away since I need it for parts to mod my first that is already together.
  9. Hi, my name is Kevin. I've been lurking here for over a year now but just joined today. Almost two years ago I was reintroduced to LEGO by my girlfriends son. We went to the LEGO store, two years ago I didn't know they existed, and realized what I had been missing when I saw Fire Brigade and the red cargo train 3677. The next night at home I was on the computer shopping at LEGO and joining the VIP program. My main interests are City, Trains, and the modulars. The family is working on a large city layout together, and I am working on my first MOC, a 2008 Pierce Velocity pumper, with some other MOCS in planning phases. I have to say thanks already to all of those that have been an inspiration for my planned mocs, and sharing all that you do. kevin
