Read the post I was replying to. You'll find I was just as polite in my response. And entirely honest.

But this is a thread for things that are coming out. Not what we hope comes out. The wish list thread is here

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Why make a post on a thread that's talking about what we KNOW is coming or at least has some grounding in truth, just to complain about something we know isn't coming? That's for an entirely different thread. A 501st Trooper exists. It's just not as cheap as you'd like it. Get used to it.

Good. I hope it never happens. Even if it's just Lego being spiteful in response to the Youtube whiny brat squad.

That's a decent looking Purge Trooper. That makes me want to keep my two spare Inferno bodies to make them.

Because Lego and Disney are closing accounts and stores down for leaking things like this. This is what happens. They want it to stop. It's not the leaker adding them to be a smart-big behind

I must admit if I think a different face still work in a figure I’ll just swap it out

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
So a person states that they've seen a new female figure and that it looks good, and that it should be leaked soon and they get laid into for not sharing more information. Then a couple of days later a figure does actually leak of a female character that looks good. I'd say the person who said it's coming was doing a perfectly good job. I can't believe we're still having these conversations. If someone can share info they will. However vague. If they can't it's because there's a chance their job depends on it, or worse still their employer's entire business. People who leak info aren't all 12yr old kids who have been shown everything and are deciding to keep it to themselves. Lego don't want any info leaking. In Lego's ideal world this thread wouldn't exist because we'd only know things as and when Lego officially released them so the other 2019 or 2020 or 2021 thread is all we'd have an all we'd need, because everything else would be wish-listing. If someone turns up and says 'Hey... I've sen all the sets and I'm not telling you about them' then they're being an idiot. I'm yet to see anyone do that in a decade of visiting this site. By visiting these threads you'll already know more than 99% of the population of the planet and that includes the people who work at your local Lego store. Just enjoy anything that people can and do share.

To be honest anybody that offers pad printing should be as good as Lego... or they're just not a very good printer. The process should be identical. The only thing I can think is down to quality control. I did speak to a printer several years ago who has said they'd printed quite a lot of Lego pieces. I also think some people may just be happy with having something printed at all and don't really go into the kind of detail required for a good minifigure.

That's the million dollar question. I know I've enquired in the past about pad printing but was quite a few years ago now. It proved prohibitively so at the time. I've got a project I'd like to get pad printed so it's something I'll be looking into again soon.

Updating Your Minifigs
It doesn't add any thickness to the parts when spraying the black. I think it's down to the type of paint it is and how it reacts to the plastic. It doesn't pool on the surface like some paint does so even in places where I felt it needed more paint like on the 'toes' of the Rebel Pilot it just 'sank in' to the plastic and was perfectly smooth. The red stripe has a very tiny thickness to it as that sits on top of the plastic (regular spray paint in a can). I think if I was to redo that one I'd use my airbrush as it would be a much finer coverage.

Did a little updating with vinyl spray paint. It's use to refinish dashboards and other plastics so when it's cured it actually bites into the plastic to becomes a permanent finish rather than just paint that sits on top of it. Did Han ANH, Luke Pilot and Endor Han yesterday and they've come out really well. I know this is a little step away from purist customs or printed additions to figures but I'm happy with how they've turned out. Any imperfections shown on the images are heightened due to the size enlargement from an actual figure but you can't really see them on the figure in hand.

Exactly. The First Order TIE, TIE Advanced and the Solo Imperial TIE have the same mould which is accurate. My only criticism of the Solo Tie would have been to work the Advanced's top canopy piece in as I think it works really well with the screen piece.

The older TIE windscreen piece was horribly innacurate. As a rounded piece it looked like a pimple on the front of the TIE.

Oh how I chuckled when I read this. Such innocence. Such naivety. You'll be replacing every conceivable arm in your SW collection before you know it. Every. Single. One. And your figures will look all the better for it. :)

Imperial Officers would be the best guess. But's that's all it would be. If I was going to be an utter smart big behind I'd include at least the two officers that accompanied Vader (Praji and Jir) onto the Tantive IV. That way you can have a couple of nice exclusives that work as standalone figures while also tying them in to the Tantive Set. That being said, the black uniformed Imperial on the latest DS set has the same uniform as Daine Jir already. I want to be clear... that's not me saying 'I hope they do it', or 'I wish that's what they do'. But at the moment we have no idea if the set is real never mind the figures that may be included.

Is that the newer blonde Aquaman head? I was thinking about that one but I feel I need to wait for a dark tan beard to come around. I think the head I used was Narcissa Malfoy with the Barista hair.

They're very worth it. I've updated almost every arm I can with the FS arms. 50 Stormtroopers, 8 Sandtroopers, around 30 X-Wing Pilots, 13 Blue Squadron Pilots, Imperial Technicians, Death Star Gunners, AT-ST Drivers, Greedo etc I think they make a bid difference to a figure. But then again I've now got 16 Snowspeeder pilots with the UCS arms, 8 TIE Pilots with the UCS arms and all my Bespin Guards have the printed arms from the original version. Add accurate moulded weapons to that too. I think figures can feel a little bare without them now. It's a rabbit hole I'm happily deep into.

I thought about doing that for the Stormtroopers but found it cheaper to get a whole new Trooper and sell off the older one. I’ve got around 12 of the new Troopers now but I’m still not sure I want to replace all 50 of my 585s.

Themes LEGO should discontinue
I would probably agree about the amount of themes that pop up. Personally I could have lived without the Simpsons sets, or even the Ghostbusters sets (even though I think both Ghostbusters sets are excellent). We've also had things like Angry Birds that I'm not entirely sure of the impact or benefit of. But for whatever reason Lego have looked at the business case and thought them worthwhile. I'm not a completist of any sort when it comes to Lego sets so I generally don't worry if a wave of a theme doesn't interest me and there are themes I take no notice of at all. But if there's something I like then great. I take the view that as an AFOL it's my choice to like a toy and that Lego don't owe me anything as a consumer. This thread seems to be pointing the finger at certain themes as a block to getting things they want. The most obvious seems to be Star Wars stopping people getting Classic Space sets. Well tough. Whether people like it or not SW is a massive source of revenue for Lego and the relationship is symbiotic. 18 of the top 20 selling SW toys last year were Lego. Lucasfilm won't want that to stop and Lego seem to be happy with the revenue it brings in. That's my point. People looking at HP as a replacement for Castle based sets can either enjoy the castle builds or not, but there's nothing to say that HP going away would result in Castle coming back. And as long as HP sells well it's going to stay. The thread asks what themes should they discontinue. So my question is why should they discontinue something? Is it just to make room for something else that someone else wants? That's fine as a hypothetical point but people seem to be taking it far too seriously.

Themes LEGO should discontinue
I'm just not getting the whole 'They should stop Star Wars because I want Classic Space' argument. Let's say they do stop it. They end the license agreement and stop selling Star Wars. Let's put an end to Harry Potter and rule out any Lord of the Rings type stuff in favour of Classic Castle. No Pirates of the Caribbean stuff in favour of Classic Pirate. May as well get rid of Super Heroes stuff in favour of developing their own in-house hero based license then. So no Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, DC or any other licensed stuff as I'm sure there could be an in house license that these could all be replaced with. Do people think that would work? I'm sure there would be quite a few people from AFOL forums around the world who would be delighted. These rest of the Lego buying public? The other 90% of them? Maybe not so much. Lego stores aren't populated entirely with AFOL's wanting classic themes and grumpily shuffling through SW stuff hoping for some Blacktron. It's a toy. The licenses and themes are what helps in keeping people moving through the doors in the numbers that they do. City is always popular... It's basically the Lego world with sets from pocket money price to main Christmas gift price. But City incorporates the exploration themes as well as the fire/police/office themes too now and that includes Space. The biggest selling Lego set of last year was Hogwarts Great Hall. If that was a Classic Castle building would it have performed as well? Probably not. It would have been well received but maybe not topped the charts. The odd item like the Lego Movie sets do well as novelties... but as a full theme? Didn't the Ideas set of the Mech with green Classic Space figures struggle to sell and end up on clearance? The licenses are here to stay. As long as they sell well. They're an integral part of what keeps people buying Lego and brings new people through the door each and every day. But you only have to look at used lots for sale on marketplaces or eBay... Kids mix stuff up, they know it's a building toy. They knock stuff down and build whatever they want. I don't believe they get hung up on whether a theme is strictly 'Classic' Lego enough. Lego has endured as a product but it's had it's moments of near collapse. They've had to adapt and have done it in the most spectacular way by now sitting at the top of the toy world. The licenses they now hold and the relationship with those license holders are now an important part of what keeps them there.

Themes LEGO should discontinue
None. Lego shouldn’t discontinue any themes that they find to be either profitable or interesting. There are hundreds and hundreds of sets created each year for many, many themes and they don’t all have to be of interest to everyone. If people don’t like sets they can always moc something they do like. And do people genuinely think that the Star Wars license would be parked or scaled down to make room for an in-house Space theme? They're two entirely different things.

Future Star Wars Sets
I think you're following the wrong threads. I never get email messages about EB as I've never subscribed to any but this thread will always be about what people wish for whereas the rumours thread and the other 2019 thread don't allow wish listing. The Tantive IV has been known for quite a while too. Not sure why you wouldn't have known about that until Lego sent an email.
