Modifying your LDD
I'd be happy to send you the file, but you'll have to make 10 posts first. The board does not allow messages to or from anyone with less than 10 posts. I'm not familiar with specific castle parts, but every piece has about 32 colors. You have to watch out though, since most pieces don't actually exist in all those colors. Peter

Pyramid Moc
Very nice, LegoGalactus. Don't worry about using white bricks. When the pyramids were built, they were sheathed with polished white limestone. Peter

Toys R Us Exclusive Lego Stormtrooper Minifigure
My TRU in Portsmouth NH is out also, and the signs are still up. The clerk was a bit dismayed when I said, "oh, then I'll put back the set." Good news is that I ended up with three figures earlier in the week - one for me, one for a mate in the UK, and one extra. Peter

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?
I live about an hour and a half north of Boston, which has three Lego stores. So far, I have only visited the Burlington Mall store. Can someone who's been to all three tell me if the PAB walls in the three stores are the same? That is, do they usually have about the same pieces at any given time, or is it more random? When I visited the Burlington store after Christmas, the PAB selection didn't seem very good to me, but I was just becoming an AFOL, so I was 98% clueless . Now that I've got some great tips for filling cups, I can't wait to go back! Thanks! Peter

I'm not in Vermont, but I'm pretty close... at least closer than Europe Peter

Annoyed missing part
petero replied to Dennis's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI received the Boeing 787 for Christmas, my first Lego set in many years. It was missing two pieces. I went through the missing piece form on Lego's site, and got the pieces within about a week. http://us.service.lego.com/en-US/replaceme...ts/default.aspx This link is for the US site, but you can change your region in the box at the upper right of the page. list of needed parts in LDD
Hi Anders, I use and love your program also. As a programmer myself, being able to create Bricklink uploads saved me a lot of work. Previously, I had manually created an Excel spreadsheet with the parts, then wrote a macro to create the XML code from it. WantedBricks is a lot easier! I would think that adding a choice to export to a comma- or tab-delimited file would be pretty straightforward, and that could be imported by almost any software someone wanted to use. For the BL list, it would be great to be able to specify "New" or "Used", and to notify via email or not. Also, I'd like to be able to add or delete items. I have one LDD project where I use a printed 1 x 4 tile. LDD doesn't have the right tile, so I substituted one it does have. It would be nice to be able to delete the substitute and add the correct tile in WantedBricks before sending it to BL. Peter

Thanks for that tip, Bojan. I didn't know that one! NecroViolator, you can also right-click on a piece to set the center of the view. Peter

Help building a door in LDD
That's it! (Slapping forehead, giving a distinctly hollow sound ) It never occurred to me to reverse them that way. Here's what I've "sketched up" quickly... I've checked BL, and the hinge plates are available in both blue and tan, so I'm all set. Thanks! Peter

Help building a door in LDD
Thanks, but I haven't found doors large enough. I just put a better rendering of the doors in my original post. Each door needs to be 5 or 6 wide and 7-8 tall to allow the sarcophagus to slide in and out. I've checked the catalog items at BrickLink, but none of the doors is that large. Peter

Help building a door in LDD
I need some ideas on how to build a door. I'm a MOC newbie, and I've run out of ideas for this. Here is a picture of the building, and the open side the door will go on: The building is an ancient Egyptian shrine, along the lines of the old Adventurers Desert theme. The doors will cover the entire end. This is the door I was thinking of making: EDIT: Better rendering of the size of the doors I want. Ignore the tiles with the dials... they're standing in for hieroglyph tiles. However, it's obvious the edges of the doors will bind, even though LDD lets me rotate them. I thought of using Technic arms with rounded ends to avoid binding, but I can't figure out how to attach them. Since I'm a newbie, I don't have the bricks to try it, and I haven't found a way with the parts in LDD. I do have the expanded parts library, so maybe I'm just not familiar enough with Technic parts to figure it out. (My original Lego building days were in the late 60s, long before Technic!) Thanks for any suggestions or ideas! Peter

Target Easter Polybags
Has anyone had any sightings in the Maine / New Hampshire / Massachusetts area? I have only one local Target, in Dover, NH, and it doesn't have them yet. Peter

Modifying your LDD
Yes, your use of the LDD data file is legal. The data file is the property of the user, not Lego, and Lego has no legal control over it. Think of it the same way you'd think of a Word or Excel file. Even though I've only been an AFOL since Christmas, I'm very happy with your program. It was very frustrating to me to discover I couldn't get a piece count or bill of material from LDD. In a business sense that makes perfect sense though, since Lego wants me to buy the creation from them, not to construct it from my existing pieces or buy the pieces elsewhere. I particularly like the ability to change a piece's characteristics, so I can use pieces that aren't supported by LDD. Peter

Bojan, I think you should be able to click on my name in the left box, and select Send Message, since you have more than 10 posts. If not, I've just added one to my count Peter

Bojan, Would you please PM or email me? I cannot PM you because I have not made 10 postings yet. Thank you! Peter

Best Monorail
I voted for the Monorail Transport System, since that's the one that I had back then. However, now I would go for the Airport Shuttle, and build an airport to go with it. Peter

Thanks for the quick reply, Sigfried. You might want to add that to the help text about PMs, since I looked there before posting. At least this bumps my post count by two, so I'm that much closer Peter

I have just tried to PM another member, by clicking the down arrow next to his name, and selecting Send a Message. I received the following error: You are not allowed to use the messenger feature on this board Just to make sure, I tried a few other members at random, and received the same error. Am I doing something wrong? I've checked my profile, and I do have messaging enabled. Thanks for your assistance! Peter

Designing realistic heads and faces?
I'm new around here, so if I've put this in the wrong forum, feel free to move it. Are there any tutorials or ideas online for creating realistic-looking heads and faces? I've tried using the Statue of Liberty as a starting point, but it's just too blocky for me. My Lego techniques are ancient -- I grew up in the 60s -- so I don't know how to avoid the blocky look. The specific project I'd like to try is an Egyptian style statue of a seated or standing Pharaoh. The size isn't important, since it will be purely a LDD exercise, at least for the near future. Thanks for any advice, links or pics you can provide! Peter

Hello all!
My name is petero. I'm in my mid-50s, and I'm a computer geek for a living. My main hobby is scale modeling, mostly aviation and real space models. For Christmas I received the Boeing 787, which has rekindled my interest in Lego. I've discovered LDD, MLCad and Bricklink... that could get very expensive! Here's my first MOC. The pieces are still arriving from Bricklink, so this is the LDD rendering. The Vehicle Assembly Building has been designed too, but it's way too expensive to ever build, even at Bricklink prices. Hope you enjoy the pics! Peter
