  1. There's a good chance that with the popularity of The Lego Movie, finally getting Warner Bros. a big animated hit that appeals to children and adults, you will see Warner Bros. properties more involved in the sequel. Just a hunch. Add to this, they'll want to get as much mileage out of their billion dollar LOTR/Hobbit properties as possible now that the trilogy is complete.

At this point, I'll buy anything from Lego LOTR/The Hobbit. In a couple of years these sets will skyrocket in value. Though I don't care, I won't sell them. Just glad I got them when I had the chance. It's really about the minifigs. You can build/modify the sets in the range as you like, which is what I intend to do. Just glad we got what we got.
  3. Good thread, I would love to see the Hatay tank w/Indy on a horse....the German U-boat (and Uboat pen), as well as the Austrian castle from Crusade.

Fyi, Barrel Escape is marked down to $25 right now at TRU.
  5. Buy them now...you'll wish you did later.
  6. Why so much complaining? Lego went through great lengths to promote the LOTR line with a great video game, a very nice microsite with video vignettes, posters, special edition figures, etc. A lot of work for a movie that came out over 10 years ago. I love all of the stuff they've released thus far. My kids love it too. It just so happens that there is a current trilogy of (Hobbit) movies that they're focusing on now...moreso...a blockbuster of their own making (The LEGO movie) that has far surpassed even their own expectations. Demand for The LEGO movie merch is HUGE right now. Stores around me are wiped out...LEGO makes more money off those items than they do licensed items...so you can't fault Lego for wanting to strike while the iron's hot, maximizing profits and fill those shelves with Lego Movie sets. The fact that the LOTR/Hobbit items are becoming scarce in stores should tell you that they've sold fairly well...Can't wait for the new Hobbit sets in October and I'm holding out hope that LoTR will come back in 2015.

Was going to try and hold out for the Extended Edition, however now I'll be sure to pick this up first. I wonder if this will be an exclusive like the one with the special Bilbo minifig that came with The Hobbit Blu-Ray which Target offered in the US?

I can see a scenario where the first wave LOTR sets and many early hobbit sets will become scarce and valuable with demand far outweighing supply....then new sets will arrive next year and the whole line will be reinvigorated.
  9. Fyi, for anyone who still needs it...Lego 9471 Urukhai Army on sale right now at Amazon for $25.
  10. Gamestop (USA) is now showing the exclusive minifig that will come with a pre-order of the new Hobbit Video game: http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/games/lego-the-hobbit/112898
  11. They'll never re-release it as is...they may create a similar set with different features. I imagine they'll look closely at sales of the new X-wing to see if they want to remake further UCS models. With that said, it works to Lego's favor to have an immortal, chase set like the 10179 out there that create in people's minds the impression that whatever set they're buying could be the next big one.
  12. "Where Eagles Dare" is one of my all-time favorite WWII themed movies and I'm also a big fan of the Wolfenstein franchise...Thanks for sharing your awesome MOC!!! Love it!
  13. See link below: Brick Fiesta Friday preview Special News from LEGO LEGO will be unveiling an exclusive set during the general assembly Friday afternoon (July 6th). This is a must-see! Only folks with convention and family memberships will be allowed to attend.
  14. Lego has said they will be introducing a big new set at Brick Fiesta in Houston July 7th & 8th. I think it'll be the B-Wing.
  15. I recognize that. It's my hometown, Houston, Texas...somewhere near buffalo bayou and Memorial Park.
