  1. Woohoo! Dont think i have ever won anything before! Just like to say thanks to the EB staff for putting this on and giving these great prizes. I enjoyed searching for all the minifigs (well except for the weightlifter!) and i looked forward to the new clue each day. I learnt things about lego that i didnt previously know, and i browsed forums i hadnt been in before. congrats to the other winners as well!
  2. This is cracking! Had a look in your flickr folder and its a spot on rendition of the real life church. The structural details are great. I also like the fallen leaves from the trees, thats a nice touch. Is there an interior ?

I actually really like this. You always get days with no swell, so what else is there but to wax your board ? Actually reminds me of the poster for the film Endless Summer, the classic surf film
  4. Yeah im not particularly overwhelmed by these figures either. None of them really standout and grab my attention in the way that some of the serie 1&2 figures did. Also without the barcodes means its going to be harder to pick the few i wouldnt mind getting. I might just avoid this series all together. I will keep up to date with them and maybe some clearer pictures of the finalised figs will change my mind.
  5. Every search for Lego and Venom came up with the striking venom exo force set. I know nothing about exo force so i trawled that forum for hours searching for the fig! talk about barking up the wrong tree. In the end i resorted to searching through every review on EB! Luckily the lego licensed forum is first, and the batman sets are pretty high up within the review index, so this way only took about 10 minutes!!
  6. Thanks for putting that up siegfried, i enjoyed all of your clues execpt the weightlifter one! I dont know much about batman, and without already knowing about bane and venom, there was no way of linking the two.

Thanks for your kind comments everyone! that harry potter flute would have been great, but i dont own any of the hp sets unfortunately! @Cadder the legs arent attached to the minifig, i cheated really! Just placed the torso on top of two of these pieces. Didnt need to attach it really, i managed to get away with balancing the torso and taking the photos strategically
  8. just had a look at all your flickr photos, they really are great! The minifigs are spot on and you have made loads of instantly recognisable scenes. Be sure to share anymore you come up with! Seires 7 is out very soon, cant wait!

ah yeah, just had a look in your review! Those pieces would be very helpful, guess there is some use to those other brands...

This is just a small vig i came up with, inspired by the new pharaohs staff and the PoP pieces. A snake charmer was the first thing i thought of when i saw the staff, and then i came up with a way to cross a minifigures legs so i made this. Wasnt sure about the telescope as the pungi but i think its clear what it represents. comments and criticism welcome!
  13. Dont give up Oky, they are just an advanced search away !
  14. I've had the same thoughts Derek! I definitely think i have been caught up in the hype with these things. In fact since coming out of my dark age, i have bought a lot of sets that maybe i didnt need! But thats another story.. I have bought 12 spartans, they are now sitting on my desk, and while they look great, i do wonder whether they are worth the 25 quid i spent to get them. I have wondered what im going to do with them. But while at the moment they are not doing much, i am glad i got them because they are really good minifigure and they wont be around for long so i had to get them while i had the opportunity. If i dont find anything to do with them then i can always recoup the money i spent on them by putting them on ebay! I certainly believe that i wouldnt have got so many had i not been a member of this forum so i definitely got caught up in the hype. As others have mentioned, it was good fun going round hunting for them.

Broke my foot last week playing football so im pretty depressed. Perfect chance to build some models though as i cant do much but sit on my backside for 2 months! Just ordered the modular Firestation which i cant wait to build, comes with a free creator helicopter which is good. Got a bricklink order for the minifig competition too. Spent more than the prizes are worth on pieces but i guess thats not the point
  16. yeah im not really sure whats going to change. Surprised this hasnt been mentioned already, but it seems like lego is a very healthy company at the moment. Its profits have soared this year

Yeah thanks for the review! I was impressed with the theme. I bought most of the sets after seeing the movie (and they were all on sale!!), which i thought was pretty good for what it was. The minifigs are great, lots of detail. Probably would have prefered to have yellow figs instead of fleshies but i guess thats standard in all licensed sets. I thought flight of the dagger was the best set, nice figs and a compact set. Closely followed by alamut which is also great. Picked up the Ostrich race too, mainly for the ostriches Didnt feel the need to get the dessert attack, the horse is good but not much to it other than that. Really dont like the quest against time, i dont think its well designed, more of a play set than anything else which is fine, lego is a toy afterall, but im not fussed about that side of things! Some great parts were introduced, i have spent time this summer in oman so im hoping to recreate some middle eastern architecture using these parts.
  18. ah yeah, never seen that one before. Was it rare ?
  19. this is brillian! And also a little spooky. The office has become one of my favourite tv shows, and i was wondering a few days ago whether it could be done in lego! The characters for the dundies are spot on. The little minifig award is perfect! Be good to make some of the other characters. The new surfer/skater hair would be perfect for jim if it came in brown. Make sure you share any of the other characters you recreate! Theres so many memorable scenes that would be great in lego. Michael and Dwight driving into the lake, Dwights beet farm, Pam doing the coal walk, Andy punching a hole in the wall, the list goes on! Might make a few myself if that wasnt treading on your toes! As a big fan of the orginal office, i was very dubious about the american version. It hasnt really been aired over here, but was tucked away on an onscure channel late at night. I decided to watch one episode and was very pleasantly surprised! Having more characters means more material, and the sheer volume of episodes develops more meaningful relationships between the characters. Im looking forward to seeing more of your office Mocs!
  20. yeah, the same thing crossed my mind! Pretty dodgy title! Nice idea though, seems like this is a lego version of a rap battle

Found some minifigs in John Lewis the other day, Just on the shelf so easy to get what you want. Heard they are in Game as well which is a new one on me. Luckily im pretty much done with this series, got 12 spartans which will probably do me, as i broke my foot the other day so dont fancy hobbling round town looking for these!
  22. what do you gain from doing that ?
  23. squiz replied to Peppermint_M's post in a topic in LEGO Town
hehe 'manscaping'. I know a few people prone to this! Nice Moc
  24. Thats strange, In the UK the GE is 40% more than the GG. I do wonder where lego get their prices from sometimes! Anyway, enjoy the green grocer Canada_7 ! Sure you wont be dissapointed. You will have to add the ge soon after
  25. Finally, one i could get first time!!! Needed that, i think i would have snapped with another weightlifter'esque clue!! Expecting tough things with the explorer though
