Characters All right, Bass: is my new flying mining vehicle ready? I have some samples to get to the labs. Well Captain, we didn't get the delivery of raw materials you ordered this week, so we took the easy route and bought this flying vehicle from an antiques dealer. It even comes with a crash test dummy. Then for the mining half, we saw this great ad. The kit comes tomorrow. Anything else sir? Unbelievable.... One more thing. Location: B08 - Greater Direstan, Koidzumi Veldt Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Exploration, Military {Begin Log Transmission} Verdi's been unusually restless since reading SpacerSteve's last report. The translator is getting better at interpreting his rustles and squeaks...seems he (she? it?....really what is the proper pronoun for a plant?) takes "Vegetable Rights" very seriously and insists we exact revenge on the critter SpacerSteve sited.... We were able to track our prey to the edge of the Koidzumi Veldt, where we set up camp. Our first task was to unload and set-up the WZ-112 Sniper cannon... Verdi monitored the Targeting Console while we set up in our position.... Klaus served as an excellent spotter.... And now we wait......Klaus notes that there are many broken trees about... Oh yeah, the truck....Accountant Long hooked me up with a sweet Citroën DS-181 "Chassemaître" Safari Cruiser... 30 years ago, it was the top of the line in SEV's (Safari Exploration Vehicle) and, honestly, no one has come any where near her quality and versatility since.... Finally, the computer indicates our target has come into range... We get in position and make a visual confirmation..... Taking aim........ FIRE!!! The Hunting Drone confirms our kill...not bad for 34 kilometers..... Klaus: "Wait......I've got something else..... "Yep....Kawashita mines....that explains all the broken trees. We will need to be careful while recovering the carcass. Are they encrypted? Can we remote detonate them?" Klaus: "Scanning now.....let's get that meat while it's still fresh!" We uploaded our scans to the science division.....perhaps they can decode the mines' command software, for now, we'll have to blast these...and perhaps break a few more trees...... ======================================== Thanks for visiting....

Why are we here? There ain't any Kentucky Rain like I was promised! We have a mission to take down this Kawashita installment. The rain part was just so you'd shut up. Why you! .....Wait, what's that? *Looks up* It's a Kawa patrol ship! We need a distraction........... Hey King I think you're a great field operative! Really? *Stands up on rock* You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.... Sir! There is an Insane robot standing in the field. Well shoot it already! I didn't get this big a hat for nothing! *Opens Fire* Thank ya. Thank ya very much. Urtem sneaks around into the outpost. Hands in the air! This area is M.A.N.T.I.S. property now. Are you delivering my new hat or my poker chips? ....... My build for the week. Taking some inspiration from Pombe with a whole cast of characters. The land vehicle is a hover tank on the ground by the base. Thanks for looking.

Location: B08 - Greater Direstan Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle Klaus and I have been dispatched to a large grassy plain, known as Section F12, on Greater Direstan. We've been told to expect Kawashita resistance, but so far have seen nothing but a small outcropping of rocks.... All of the grasses have a strange...."sweet, skunky" smell to them.....they burn on the exhaust and release a sweet herbal smoke... We both feel much better now than when we landed.....what an enjoyable drive! Of course, the Vespa / Lotus GX4 makes navigating uneven terrain a breeze... It's powered by a battery of Wankel Engines, allowing us to burn most native petrols and solvents as a fuel source. Klaus loves the Twin Anti-proton cannons.... "Klaus, perhaps we should burn some more of these grasses before heading back to the ship...?"

I added a lot of unrendered images under the Spoiler button at least! ) [K - B08] Field testing the QATC-76 "Turtle" Armored Troop Carrier on Greater Direstan So, I initially had something much smaller planned, but as usual, things spiralled out of control. The model is 1327 pieces, of which the ATC is approximately 900. The nickname comes from the design phase (basically me thinking "I want this vehicle to look like a turtle", and then making it look like a turtle). --//Transmission Begin. Date: 0706(38)15. Usually, I'm in charge of Kawashita's structural engineering operations, but due to the high frequency of pirate activities during the last weeks and our fleet drawing closer to the operations of M.A.N.T.I.S, HQ requested that my extensive background in military development was going to be put to use. In short, they wanted me to design a transport vehicle with high defensive capabilities, and I must say, I'm pretty proud of the result. The QATC-76 "Turtle" Armored Troop Carrier (also known as the QAPC-76 "Turtle" Armored Personnel Carrier) is a heavy personnel transport vehicle, using a diamagnetic levitation (DIMAGLEV)/jet hybrid in order to achieve propulsion. This ensures high mobility and limited flight capability while still being fairly energy efficient, and, most importantly, high defensive capabilities. The thing about DIMAGLEV is that it (simplified) works with the "engines" rotating, creating a strong enough directed magnetic field so that it repels the ground, thus making the ATC hover. These directed magnetic fields can also be supercharged in order to make jumps, and used in combination with the jet-propellers (which are usually used to achieve the rotation for the DIMAGLEV engines) to extend suspension, aka achieving "flight". Furthermore, the DIMAGLEV engines can be used for defensive purposes, for example by inversing them in order to create a magnetic shield which protects the QATC-76 from incoming ballistics. This, in combination with the QATC-76's ultra-hardened Awsomnium-Alloy shell which can withstand degrees up to 4750K, thus negating the effects of all but the most powerful lasers, makes the QATC-76 almost impenetrable. In regards to the field tests, the QATC-76 performed admirably. We managed to achieve speeds upwards 300km/h and jumping over 400m canyons with ease. Defensively, it managed to withstand everything we threw at it, and thanks to its mobility, it was even able to dodge both ballistics and lasers. The mounted DETF-86 rotating laser cannon worked as expected and will be standard issue with the QATC-76 (however, there will be customization options). Kawashita Engineer's Log - AC - B08 Greater Direstan Having arrived at the bottom of a range of mountains on Greater Direstan, we found a series of caves. I'm not sure they look like natural formations, but whether they are natural or not, there's plenty of awesomnium veins in them. I'm trying out a prototype mining drill to see how well it works. There's a pulse laser doing the actual cutting, so all the maneuvering of the vehicle is done using displays on the control panels. Don't want to have an accident with one of these things. As pieces of the rock are cut, they drop onto the conveyor belt which carries the material behind the vehicle and into waiting transports where it will be taken away for the awesomnium to be separated from the rest of the rocks. Can't see in the photos clearly, but there's a control wheel on both sides of the driving position and the pulse laser can rotate left to right and angle up and down.

Location: B08 - Greater Direstan Tags: Military Log #003 – 5 Junali 3815 Since last week was very exhausting in the Hamilton Belt, I asked the KG (Kawashita Group), If I could get a week off, but my request was denied. They need me for a new mission to Greater Direstan. However, I could be part of a team of explorers and guards. This way I could take It a little more easy. Laying my eyes on the enormous grassy plains of Greater Direstan are a blessing for the soul. Until... I spotted from far away, through the high grass a greyish figure. While carefully sneaking from behind, to see If he's part of our team or a lost Space Pirate. I pointed my gun at his back and I told him to drop his weapon, which he did. I searched him and jammed his transceiver. The captured Space Pirate seems to be identical from Koro's report at the Desatoya Mountains; a soldier from the Dust Demons! As he's begging me not to kill him, he seems to be a lost rookie. He keeps whimpering that he didn't wanted to join the Dust Demons, but It's not my job to believe his excuses. KG should interrogate him before we deliver him to the Galactic Court or else the Dust Demons are at an advantage... Complete view:
