"I know everyone else is out exploring for the fountain of youth! You know I don't have the time for that! But I did send a few of my men out to find it and bring me a bottle of that very precious water! Let's hope the map that was sold to me was correct!" Somewhere, on another island, deep inside a cave system: "The map says we've found it, but the only thing I'm seeing is a bunch of dead people!" "We shouldn't have trusted that guy selling that map, but at least it should help us to find out of here!" (Third guy appears through another hole in the cave) "Have you looked up? I know why the map was that cheap. It might be the fountain of youth, but it is not reachable behind that giant crystal in the ceiling!" (Looking up) "We were ordered to find the fountain of youth and try to bring some water home. I think we have done what we can, or does either of you want to end up like our friends here?" "You are right, let us get out of here quickly!" So, this is the story how the fountain of youth was found by the men of Monezterrel. Too bad they didn't succeed reaching it... Here are the pictures of the cave system: ______ I don't think I'll ever build a cave starting from the top again. It was annoying, too say the least.

Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List New Terra’s somewhat reliable source for shipping news. June 616. VOL 1 ISSUE 5 Pirate Menace Finally Addressed After month’s pleas from the harried merchant fleets, the three great kingdoms put aside their difference for the greater good and formed six squadrons to rid the seas of the growing pirate menace. The crowds cheered these brave captains on as they left their docks at the start of the month, but only some were feted upon their return. The Corrington fleet sailing around Lebellan under Commodore Coyle achieved the greatest glory, capturing the rated ships Killing Spree, Sleeping Siren, and Blood Diamond. Surprisingly, there has been no talk of a knighthood for the commodore to reward him for his victory as rumours abound that he has earned the displeasure of the court for some unwholesome business dealings. The joint Eslandola and Corrington fleet sailing east of Lebellan under Commodore De La Manzana sank a mighty warship while capturing four vessels of small displacement, also earning the gratitude of the trading companies. The Eslandolan fleet sailing near Mardier’s colony of King’s Port sailing under Commodore Janszen proved overmatched by the Blood and Guts, a privateer out of Carno. The cruise started well with the capture of the Garvian reaver Onishiit. In high spirits, the captains decided to issue extra rations of grogs to their crews in celebration. During the gross lack discipline that followed, none of the look-outs observed the rapidly closing man-of-war out of Riden. Having lost the weather gauge, both sloops Holder’s Secret and Lady’s Revenge were easily run down and boarded, while the Dark Narwhal fled back to the safe haven of Nova Terrelli with its prize in order to escape the same fate. A sad showing indeed for the merchant marines of the bitter King Fernando. Faring little better was the joint Eslandolan and Oleon fleet under Commodore Wyndzon. Cruising along the coast of Balondia, they encountered the fleet of the dread pirate Zubious Van Wreck. Taking the offered bait, the flotilla sprung upon a small cutter, the former Eslondalan vessel Wringe (now fitted as a ship of war), and brigantine Cougar intent raiding the coastal villages. While arguing over the division of the prize crews, Van Wreck swooped in with the Ghost Harvester and Fallen Angel. The Oleon brig Expedition’s powder magazine caught fire during the initial broadside and the ensuing inferno saw it quickly sink to the dark sea bottom. The pirate lord then turned his attention to the outgunned Walrus, battering her into submission. At dusk, the outclassed Turgut sailed away with what survivors it had collected leaving the laurels of victory again for the pirate lord. Upon making port, Captain Phred of Turgut laid blame for the failure on the commodore’s orders, straining the already tense relations between the two nations. Southeast of An Tolli, the joint Corrington and Eslandolan fleet had mixed success, capturing the pirate war brigs Catfish Supreme and Cold Heart, while nearly losing the flagship Dilligente in close action and seeing the pirates make off with Eslandola’s Sea Bulge. Once news of this encounter reached shore, King’ Fernando’s ambassador made an official protest to the Corrington Naval office, claiming that their vessel had been misused as a sacrificial lamb. No official response has been forthcoming to the baseless accusation, but rumours abound that the Sea Bulge had put to sea criminally short of spars and sails after its captain had sold them for a few extra coins. Finally, the joint Oleon and Eslandola squadron met some middling honour, capturing an armed pirate sloop lurking by Holder’s Rock while the a vainly attempted to track down the Garvian privateer Admiral Mercedes. While the overall results of the campaign have been deemed a success, one cannot but note that the balance of naval power has shifted decidedly in the favour of Corrington. How long will it be before Queen Annetta decides that use her new found advantageand declare the lands east of Terraversa hers by right? The courts of Oleon and Eslandola must eyeing her ever growing navy with growing trepidation. War for Ilse de Romantica Rages On Lord Prio’s struggle for independence continues, though little solid news of the conflict has come back from the island thus far. There has been some talk of unseasonable wet weather interfering with the campaigning, but it seems unfounded. We wait to see the result of Mardier’s attempt to put down its wayward governor and reclaim its possession. Red Gold: The Corrington Trade Fleet's Luck Holds Steady Another glorious month of trading was had by the Corrington merchant fleet, who's strategy of running two massive trade fleets has once again proved successful, with only two loss reported. The Merry Lyric fleet travlled across the seas, accumalting gold at a fine pace. While the Sulky Harlequin and Purple Rain drew the attention of buccaneers, these were easily dispatched. The pride of the navy took prizes of the Garvian privateers Soupfish and Smirker, as well as the pirate vessels Anoa, Blood Mean, and Baluga. The HMS Gauntlet proved the mightiest of these warriors, driving off repeated attacks single-handed while capturing pirate ships of the line Silver Tongue and Headstone. It is truly captained by a hero of the realm. Unfortunately, the loss of the Lynx to a monstrous kracken and the mysterious disappearance of the Valkyrie during the night marred an otherwise perfect voyage. Not to be outdone, the naval escorts of the Quick Wing fleet took the pirate vessels Bingo, Don Abelo and Ugly Gibbon after fierce actions, and without loss of a single merchant ship. Praiseworthy indeed. Finally, the junkyard fleet of Quinnsville found success commensurate with its size, rounding out a profitable month for Queen Annetta's merchants. Eslandolan Trade Fleet arrives Far Smaller than When it Left While the red queen was overjoyed with the gold flowing into her covers, the bitter King Fernando was less pleased. Already displeased with the performance of his navy during the pirate purge operation, the results have been reported to have sent him into a jealous rage of the Corrington success. Time will tell if the King's temper will sour the cordial relationship in place between both nations. The Double Duty trade run began ominously with the escort flagship Dark Lightning being captured during a skirmish with the pirate vessel Hasslin Hector. Whether due to the removal of an incompetent commodore, or simply to protect their honour in light of their ignoble performance, the remaining Eslandan naval vessels successfully fought off preying vessels during the remaining of the voyage, including the infamous Billyjack II. Thanks to their efforts, only one merchant ship, the Wringe II was damaged, and forced to port early. If that had not been enough to rile the throne, the fate of the Dragon's Teeth trade fleet was sure to have driven the royal person fits of anger. Led by escort flagship Dread Treasure, this trio of Eslandolan captain's proved far less capable than all those before them. Firstly, the Cotton Lady was put upon by the Black Mermaid, Captain Greyskars' deadly reaver. Coming to its aid, the Dread Treasure misjudged the wind and managed to de-masted itself, and became easy prey for the pirate. Shaken, the convoy pressed on only to become overly spread during a foggy night. Down swooped pirate Captain LeColeon's squadron. Without much resistance, they scopped up the Fenix Rising, Banana Boat, and La Transferrata and left only corpses in their wake. Upon returning port, the widows of the merchant crews pelted the escort's crews with rotten produce until the crowd was dispersed by the local militia. When we asked one of the rioters to compare their fleets success to that of Corrington, Marcus Knopflerio said: "Now look at them yo-yo's that's the way you do it. You fly the red flag on the bright, blue sea. That ain't workin' that's the way you do it. Money for nothin' and your ships for free." He then sadly proceeded back to his job as a warehouse hand, moving custom wood stoves and ice boxes. Free Trader Fleet Finds its Way Recently recognized as legitimate free traders by the great powers, the vessels of many independant merchants found profit in their voyages this month. All three fleets successfully completed their uneventful runs, with only the mysterious loss of the Night's Gold to blemish the record. Should this luck continue, they will find more and more established investors looking to underwrite their voyages. Captain Trips on Rock - Finds Treasure IN other news, while searching for a suitable location to take on water, the most fortunate Captain Darksten managed to trip over a small rock while in the process of giving orders. The result was not just a broken arm, but the chance discovery of the famed treasure of Oxbley. Reports have it that the crew of the Novitus preceeded to Bastion forthwith, and many a song was sung. Secretive Oleon Trader Fleets Has Moderate Success... We Think Taking measures to keep the secret of their recent massive success from prying eyes , the trade routes of the Oleon merchant fleet was not posted publically, and the rfruits of their labours have not been widely reported. But the following pieces of information have been confirmed. In action on rough seas, the Oleon escorts Fairmont and Orion were lost to the squadron of the Mardier privateer Darrien El'Tonia. Official dispatches were immediately sent to the king's represenative in Mardier in hopes coming to a mutual understanding on the matter; Regaining some honour for the Oleon navy, the Galaxie captured an armed priate sloop; The Comet was lost in high seas; and, Due to flagrant drunkeness of the duty watch, the Little Hermes ground itself on a reef. Salvage efforts proved successful. Cub Reporter Lost in Action Master Joachim Smith of our Bastion office was recently lost to us in unfortunate circumstances. It seems the young reporter had noticed that for the last two months Captain Emil Meloche had gone to sea and seemingly sailed around aimlessly to no purpose. Eye witnesses say when the young Smith, hungry to make a name for himself, stopped Meloche while his disembarked from the Donatus and questioned him regarding this very matter, he was promptly shot dead, after which the pirate muttered "Nae comment" under his breath. It seems no one had told the victim about the short temper of the so called Dark Bishop of Charlatan Bay. Donations to this newspaper's timeliness fund in lieu of flowers are appreciated. ===/===/=== Official Game Results ===/===/=== GUEST EDITOR'S NOTE: Sorry, but I did not have the time to calculate the faction totals or do a complete write up for this month due to the short turn-around. I am sure I missed some combats and significant events too. But with poor Ska up to his ears in real life commitments, this will have to tide you ravenous dogs over for now. :)

A continuation of Blackdeathgr's In the jungle MOC. As always, comments and criticism as well as suggestions on how to improve my building skills are appreciated. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Groaning, Captain Anthony Genaro attempted to raise his arms as he slowly opened his eyes. The last thing he remembered was the battle between his ship, the Pride of Poseidon and some pirate schooner that came upon them in the night. He was helping the crew of Death's Fire, gun number 2, after two of her members were killed by some grapeshot from the pirates. "Wha.. what happened, what's going on?" moaned Genaro, a constant pounding in his head preventing him from thinking straight. The sounds of sporadic gunfire, music, and men shouting didn't help either. "Captain's awake," Genaro heard familiar voices whispering, and then in his left ear "Sir, it's me, Benjamin Leon, sir." "Yes, yes, of course" groaned Genaro in reply. "Well, sir," Leon continued "well, we was fighting fine until the block struck you on your head. After that, with no other officers, the ship kind of fell apart and we was boarded." Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As Leon told the rest of the tale of their capture and imprisonment, Genaro looked around. About half his crew was still alive, chained in groups of three or four men with a drunken pirate guarding each one. The remaining pirates were busy dancing around a bonfire, celebrating their victory with looted liquor and "my hat!" exclaimed Genaro. "Those savages have taken my hat!" "Aye, they looted anything of value, and what they didn't take they destroyed" Leon responded. At this, Genaro sat silent, reflecting on his present predicament. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Did you hear that?" said Leon, interrupting Genaro's silence. "Hmn?" Genaro said looking around. He had been so deep in reflection that he didn't hear Leon. "I just asked if you heard that noi..." but a cry of "fire" followed by the roar of muskets drowned out Leon. Taken completely by surprise, the pirates were quickly overcome by their attackers, loosing all but one man in a few moments. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As one of the marines moved around, bayoneting the fallen pirates to ensure they were dead, the leader came towards Genaro. Genaro was barely able to take in the man's strange appearance, two pistols and a steel breastplate, before Genaro was free and being helped to his feet. "Tom Jones, at your service, sir" the stranger introduced himself. Of course, thought Genaro, "Juggernaut" Jones, one of the most feared explorers in all of Oleon. "Captain Anthony Genaro, deeply in your debt" replied Genaro. "But I was told you were exploring Tyche with D'Offren." "Which I am, sir" said Jones to Genaro, "but I'm afraid we can't talk much more here, we're simply a scouting party and I expect the rest of the pirates to arrive any moment." Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr At this, Jones went off to help his men search the pirate camp for anything useful while Genaro picked up his hat and sword from a fallen pirate. "Look here" said one of the men, "Blessings of Zeus with you, man" cried Jones to the sailor. "It's a map of the island! D'Offren will put this find to good use!" Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr As the explorers and the liberated seamen prepared to return to D'Offren's camp, one of the marines called out "and what should be done with him" gesturing to the sole surviving pirate. The rest of the crew fell silent while Genaro picked up a pistol. "Piracy against a ship belonging to the Crown of Oleon is punishable by death" said Genaro as he filled the pistol with powder and rammed a bullet down the barrel. "And unless any man can vouch for his innocence, we shall administer swift judgement before we leave." None spoke up, not even the pirate who simply stared at the ground as Genaro raised the pistol. "May Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades have mercy on your soul." said Genaro. Capture and Rescue by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr

I've recieved the message that my shipyards have finished another ship for me! We need to get there as quick as we can to check it out! And there we are! Isn't she a beauty? Finally a really fast ship that should help us to buy even more ships! That's what we call a Schooner my friend, and this one is a large one! Lets go around to the Stern: She is actually a lot larger than you might think, so I decided to command the Dragon's Revenge here, which is, albeit being bulkier, quite a bit shorter, as you can see from this bird: I also noticed that the Pride of Elysabethtown was around too, so I decided to send my bird up to these vessels too! I think it'll be a while until we have a ship equal in size to the Pride besides the Margot! I also tried to take a picture which includes all of my still standing ships, but that proved to be rather difficult - the War Dwarf/HMS Kent/Justicia (which hasn't recieved a new paintjob as the real model just yet) is to big to be in the forground and way to small in the background (you might be able to see one mast:D) - and all these ships just take up so much space (I don't even want to know how much space these minifig-scale first rates take:D)... So, a quick Overview over the facts: time spent building - no stopwatch running, but I started 1 1/2 days ago 6 swivel guns 4 longguns Captain Ronald Scourie Owner: Jerome Monezterrell (me) Build by the Monezterrell' Shipyards (might be coming at some point in the future :P) Tradecompany: MAESTRO Crew: at least 12 men Rating: at least a class 5F. not sure if it might classify for a 6F. I want to hear what you think! How it all started:

Challenge Three – The quest for the Fountain of Youth It has been rumored that on Cato Calrelli’s second voyage in 599 to Nelisa he took along with him a Oleander priest who paid handsomely to join the expedition. On the 15th night of the journey, the priest of Zeus, Father Tholeau, snuck inside the captain’s boat and lowered her to the sea. Once detached from the fleet he set sail in the small skiff. The crew had no idea what had happened to the priest, but Calrelli pushed on to discover more of Eslandola’s new home “beyond the line.” After Calrelli encircled Nelisa, he began to make his way home, but before land was out of sight, a small sail was seen on the horizon. Fearing foreign explorers had found Eslandola’s secret, Calrelli boldly set to engage the vessel. What he found was his captain’s boat, empty except some clothing and a journal. There was no sign of Tholeau. Calrelli read the journal, and discovered that the priest had been obsessed with an ancient manuscript that stated that the Fountain of Youth lay on an island to the East of Halos. The journal detailed Tholeau's recent escapade and his discovery of three islands. On the third of those islands he found what he was looking for – the Fountain of Youth. Knowing he did not have enough supplies to try to follow Tholeau's poorly noted nautical directions, Calrelli decided to restock. Unfortunately, he was caught by hurricane that wrecked him and his fleet on the shores of Terraversa, and since then, he has been unable to get permission for another expedition. The journal was eventually taken to Arlington, and stored in the Cartography Academy. But somehow a copy of it slipped through the Academy's hands and through a series of accidents made its way to an enterprising printer. Now, adventurers from all corners of the Brick Seas are making their way to New Terra to try and follow the cryptic clues left by Tholeau. Category A: Finding the Fountain In this category you will show the discovery of the Fountain of Youth by your sig-fig or one of his/her associates. This can be almost any setting you wish, on the beaches of an island, in the dense jungles, on a desert island, in the ruins of a lost civilization, or maybe within an active civilization’s town! Maximum size 32x32, with minimal overhang. Deadline: July 1st. Extended deadline: July 10th However, those who submit entries by the original deadline will have a bonus applied to the judges' scores. [*]Post your entry in it's own thread, but be sure to provide a link below. Category B: What happened to Tholeau? Build 2 – 5 MOCs that tell the story of Father Tholeau after he left Calrelli’s fleet. You can represent the good priest in any way that you like. The MOCs and accompanying narrative should tell the story of Tholeau leaving the ships, finding the islands (he mentioned three in his journal), making his way to the fountain of youth, and disappearing. You must build between 2 and 5 MOCs. One of your MOCs is subject to a maximum of 12x12. No other size restrictions. You may not use your Category A MOC in your story. Deadline: July 1st. Post your entry in it's own thread, but be sure to provide a link below. Prizes As with the previous challenges, all players participating in the Economic Game System will be awarded with in-game DBs. Winning players will receive more DBs. In addition, Winner of Category A receives the right to style his/herself Discoverer of the Fountain of Youth. Winner of Category A picks an island on the new map (not yet released) for the fountain's location. That island will belong to the winner's faction, and the winner has the right to set up a settlement at that location and appoint his/her own mayor. Winner of Category B receives the right to style his/herself Revealer of Tholeau's Secret. The winning faction will choose three islands off the new map. All the other factions will choose two islands in the order in which they have placed.

Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List New Terra’s most reliable source for shipping news. May 616. VOL 1 ISSUE 4 Editor’s Column. Well, this month has been one of the most active for shipping losses due to combat. It seems that both the Oleon and Corrington Navy have been depleted through routine trade convoying. The amount of active pirates seemed higher than normal, and the rumor is that the Pennington and Pennington Insurance Company in Corrington may start charging double for ships traveling the far seas. That being said, the Oleanders pulled off a coup in shipping this month – despite catastrophic losses the last two months, they are now New Terra’s top shippers. Corrington beware! But perhaps both should take a cue from the Eslandolan sailors this month, who seemed to take care of pirates and trade in relative peace. Although none of the major pirates like Bloody Bill seemed to find an Eslandolan ship this month – perhaps they bribed the pirate lords? Perhaps one of the navies of the major powers should take on a punitive mission against one of these threats to teach them a lesson? A New King in Oleon! We wish him the best, he is going to need it with his cousin claiming the throne. Hopefully that bad blood does not deteriorate their relations. Of course, it is well known that the King of Oleon rather befriend Sea Rats than a Eslandolan these days! Tips and News: Breshaun Served by Corlanders!!! The famed Quick Wing convoy delivered building supplies from this port to Breshaun, and they were met with high selling prices and the smiles of their former enemy’s citizenry. Ilse de Romantica – A new kingdom. Lord Prio, formerly of this island, has claimed Independence from Mardier. With help from the crews of the Corland Supplier, Peregrine, Alexander, La Espada, Wight Spider, Golden Star, Small Fishin Boat, White Skull, and HMS Isandlwana Prio was able to eliminate the natives of the island. However, his new fiefdom is now divided between about 80 of his supporters and members of Corrington, Sea Rats, Eslandola, and a few from Oleon. Even though Prio has paid these mercenaries well, and given them one FREE Medium Residence plot, there is talk of trying to sway the island towards one of the larger nations. Time will tell what will happen here, as Prio has the strongest hold, but Corrington and the Sea Rats have a lot of strength on the island, and Eslandola is not too far behind. Ship building materials needed in Eltina. Merfin de’Marc, the son of the famous shipbuilder in Oleon has decided to attempt to build a new shipyard on Lebellan. To do this, he needs lumber in vast quantities delivered to the island from New Terra’s most promising forests. He will pay top dollar for good wood. This month we have many tales of naval glory to tell, so we will not be able to tell them all. Off the coast of Nova Terreli: Black Marlin Attacked by Garvey Privateer Flotilla under Admiral Mercedes, a three ship flotilla caught the little Coyle Co. trader, and almost had her taken when her escorts showed up. The HMS Mars was immediately disabled by the 5A “Hunter,” Merdedes’ flagship, but the HMS Pandora was able to defeat the “Catfish” and capture her, then turn on the Hunter and force her to surrender in a nasty gunnery duel. The last ship of the fleet, Alacante boarded the HMS Friends Forever, but was repelled and managed to get away. Why has Garvey allowed its fleets to pirate at will? Maybe Corrington should manage a reprisal. In nearly the same location, the Fairmont came under attack by the pirate LeColeon and his two ship squadron. LeColeon was able to trip the Fairmont’s escort, HRS Eltina into engaging his smaller vessel, a class 1A, and while the flotilla was engaged, LeColeon boarded Eltina and took here. He then sailed off with the his flagship and the Oleon Warship. In an unrelated battle, the pirate Montroy took the Meteor in the same area a few days later. Off the coast of Terraversa: Mardier Privateers attack Corrington fleet! Perhaps an Oleander payoff is to blame for all of these attacks on Corrington? The HMS Green Dragon was caught by Captain Vanderdank and his fleet (a 5A and a 4A), The HMS Mars is forced to strike its colors to Vanderdank’s flagship Death’s Jubilee. The HMS Pandora captures the Mardier’s Misfit, while the HMS Friends Forever took Death’s Jubilee, and HMS Pandora chased down the Mars and recaptured her. It was a close call this time, but the Mars would not stay as lucky. A day later the Raenette II was attacked and defended by the HMS Paradise by pirate Phillip Black, and in a separate attack the Raenette was attacked by Bloody Bonnie, who was warded off by HMS Lover’s Quarrel. Off the coast of Eslandola: The now infamous pirate Harrison Torn and his two ships attack the Oleon Trade fleet. They catch Revenant, and in an attempt to take her back, the HRS Granoleon takes on Torn’s flagship “Soldier of Fortune” but Torn, a former Corrington naval officer, overpowered the veteran crew of the Granoleon. The Zephyr and Starliner held off and then captured Torn’s second ship the Defender of Bastion, but Torn got away with his two prizes. A few days later, near the same location the HRS Breshaun captured a smaller war vessel, but none of its crew will talk about who they are or where they are from. The Galaxie took the pirate “Portrait of the King” the next day. Farther south: Carno Privateer El Matador attacked a flotilla of Oleon Merchants, now without their escort. They fought bravely, but the Fairmont and Torino were taken by the Privateer. The Empty Barrel was able to escape. In the same vicinity the pirate “Blind Jack” attacked the Dancing Dogfish, but her escort the HMS Whisper was able to force the pirate to surrender. Off the Coast of LeBellan, Ghosts from the Past Attack Corrington!: The former HMS Mermaid, now the Black Mermaid, captained by pirate lord Trevor Maskord, found its old convoy partner the HMS Queen’s Glory. Maskord, a disgraced Corrington naval captain, looking for revenge attacked the trade flotilla. His men boarded the escort, and took the Queen’s Glory after one of the bloodiest battles in years. His lieutenant, Phillip Greyskar put to death the whole crew of the royal ship in sight of the merchant flotilla. Then, without asking for surrender, the Black Mermaid turned its guns on the flotilla that consisted of the HMS Otter, The Morning Rose, and the Nightingale, and reduced it to timbers. A few of the survivors were picked up by the HMS Whisper the next day. L’Olius not as lucky this time!: L’Olius and his fleet of pirate dogges found a Corrington trade flotilla and attempted to claim it. This time, Captain Jack Hart of the HMS Paradise was able to hold off the pirate fleet long enough for his merchant flotilla to get into a battle line – unfortunately this led to the Paradise taking too much damage, and it was sunk before the battle line could reach it, Hart went down with the ship. The flotilla led by the Sparta, along with the Belson and the Raenette II took on the three pirate vessels. The Belson fended off L’Olius and his flagship, the Crooked Sparrow, while Sparta was able and take Tiny Sparrow in a boarding action, meanwhile the Raenette II took the Spotted Sparrow – L’Olius seeing that the winds of fortune had turned, sailed away before the flotilla could turn again onto him. In the same vicinity, The Belson, Sparta and Raenette II were challenged again. Their escort, the HMS Whisper had caught up with them, but was quickly taken in a surprise attack by a Garvey Privateer fleet. The three trade ships made a line of battle and soon the Sparta took the BLuebelt, and the other pirate sailed away as Belson boarded and retook the Whisper. At sea, the HMS Bullshark was taken by a Carno Privateer, but its merchant flotilla safely made port. Bloody Bill Strikes Again! -- One of the most feared pirates sailing the far seas has attacked a Oleon fleet. The famous, and fast Seven Seas Convoy, however, with special rigging it seems Bill and his vessels were able to cut off the convoy and attack. The convoy’s escorts stayed behind as the rest of the ships sailed for safety. Unfortunately the HRS Astrapi and HRS Loraithian were no match for Bloody Bill’s men, and in a boarding action, both were taken. Within 100 miles of the end of their journey, the rest of the squadron was attacked by an unknown large ship, it was able to overpower the Commerce de Breshaun and the Scimitar before sailing off, leaving only one ship to make port safely of the whole convoy. It is suspected that the unknown ship was from Namere. The Sea Rats merchant fleet also came under attack in this same area of the deep ocean. The Warbringer and La Oleon were taken by an Unknown fleet, but it is suspected that it was Captain Garius of the Mardier Navy and his squadron. The Golden Filly, Lady Jacqueline, undefended were attacked by a pirate calling himself Gregory Decker. He was able to force the Filly to surrender, where he moved his colors. Meanwhile the Lady Jacqueline was able to take “Lost at Sea” and Decker’s former flagship “Bonne Voyage” but was unable to muster an assault on the Golden Filly, which Decker sailed off to Bastion. Another attack on the Sea Rats merchant fleet by Captain Slooth, pirate, but no friend to Bastion. His little flotilla was met by Poseidon’s Revenge, but they were overpowered and taken. Slooth attacked the flotilla, but Night’s Gold forced Slooth in the Bonnie Lass to surrender, Absolutely Fabulous was able to keep his other ship at bay with their guns, while Night’s Gold forced the prize crew on Poseidon’s Revenge to surrender. Slooth got away on his smaller ship. Most foreigners think of Oleon's temples as dark, mysterious places built for solemn ceremonies and ancient rituals. Nothing could be further from the truth. Almost every joyous occasion in an Oleander's life, from birth to coming of age and marriage is celebrated within these sacred halls. Even minor successes, such as a recovery from illness or safe arrival following a long voyage brings Oleanders to temples, which makes the temples more than just a place of worship. They are a focal point in many cities, places where friends and acquaintances meet, either by appointment or chance. As such, Captain Anthony Genaro was not overly surprised when, while walking through the courtyard of Breshaun's main temple, he heard a voice cry out "Captain, Captain Genaro!" Turning, Genaro saw what most landsmen would call a landshark, a fellow who preys on the ignorant sailor, but to Genaro he was simply Mister Harold Kimber, a bright entrepreneur with a mining method that could extract silver seemingly out of thin air. "Give you joy on a successful voyage" exclaimed Harold Kimber, "and give you even greater joy on your mine." "Thank you Mr. Kimber," replied Genaro "but what is this about the mine? I thought I departed without signing all the necessary papers?" Kimber looked startled "did you not get my message, no, of course not, the hurricane must have blown the mail ships off course. No, well, what I wrote in the letter is that your friend, Captain Leon, put up your portion of the investment. He was thoroughly convinced that you'll pay him back, and when he heard the we struck silver, he insisted that we not forget you." At this, Genaro gave a hearty laugh and silently reminded himself to buy a good brandy, Leon's favorite drink. After a moment of silent reflection on his new found luck, Genaro turned to Kimber and asked "and how much have you extracted so far?" At this, Kimber became uneasy. "All the equipment, the tunnels, and the buildings are in place, but we can't actually sell the ore just yet. You see, we've had some trouble obtaining a license, someone in the administration is convinced I'm a thieving rake, a landshark even, while Captain Leon would hardly do, given the incident between him and the assistant governor in Breshaun." Of course, thought Genaro to himself, smiling as he remembered the event. "But we were hoping a man of your influence could succeed in getting the license in no time." "Certainly," cried Genaro "there isn't a moment to loose, I'll go to the offices directly and demand the license, after all, we have paid for it, and I'll be darned if some blasted civilian, some administrator is going to stand between me and my fortune!" On the journey back from the new island, Micah and his crew put the "Flying Colt" in at New Terrelli. While in port, they saw a beautiful cutter that had for sale flyers posted. The partners convened together and decided to use some of the gold they had discovered to purchase this vessel. It would raise less questions to spend the money as merchants in Eslandola then back in Arlinsport. They sent the "Flying Colt" on without them on a trade mission under the escort of the Eslandolan "Queen of Terelli". Unbeknownst to them, the "Flying Colt" was almost seized by privateers. However, the "Queen of Terelli" rescued them. After spending a week repainting and fitting the cutter, Micah and the partners set off with a few new sailors back to Arlinsport. The ship was rechristened the "Alexander" after Micah's father whose business and protection they were sailing under. The "Alexander" proved to be a fast vessel and got them to Arlinsport in superb time. This is my third free build this month so please let me know if you approve. Maxim, I am licencing this cutter to Micah (Silent Wolf) as a 2F. Previous builds: Intro: Silent Wolf FB: "Flying Colt" Ch1 CatA: Ahoy, Fishermen! FB: Back at the Ranch... Lord Alexander's horse business would not be complete without a way to draw in new customers. What better way than to have a blacksmith shop to serve the community? Whenever anyone in Arlingsport needed a new horse, Alexander's horse business immediately was spoken of. They also spoke favourably of his son Micah's fair management of the business. Gregory the blacksmith enjoyed his work. Early in the morning the shop, he would head to the shop to start for the day. By the time Charles would come by with a horse to be shod, Gregory would already be working with his bellows and hammers making some new iron design for usage in the houses of Arlinsport. After the long trip of exploration, Micah was happy to be back in Arlinsport. He promptly dressed up and made his way over to the home of his fiancee's parents. Upon his announcement, Elizabeth quickly made her way to the door. He had much to tell her. SAM_6914 by Micah Van Gorp, on Flickr SAM_6918 by Micah Van Gorp, on Flickr I attempted a technique for the house siding that I hadn't done before. I am not entirely thrilled with how it turned out, but it did give a semblance of a clapboard house. Advice and critique is welcome. The "Flying Colt" was sailing along happily on a merchant run off the coast of Garvey when suddenly it was attacked by privateers. The ugly scurvy aboard the “King of Mardier” wanted to haul in the cargo for themselves. The "Flying Colt" immediately set to defending themselves with cannon and prepared to fight hand to hand if it came to it. Fortunately, the Eslandolan escort "Queen of Terelli" was nearby to lend a hand. Some of our troops are a little too green for battle. Previous Builds Intro: Silent Wolf FB: "Flying Colt" Ch1 CatA: Ahoy, Fishermen! FB: Back at the Ranch... Silent Wolf and his friends spent a week with the natives. They were hosted by the village. During this time, they learned some of the information about this land. One of the surprising things they learned was that the village had been visited years ago by other men like the Corlanders. They discovered this when they heard the natives speaking some words that they recognized from their merchant and military missions in the Old World. The natives told Micah and his friends that the previous visitors had come a long time ago. Only the most elderly remembered them. The natives declared that the visitors had been crazy which is why they never came back. The visitors enjoyed spending their time inside the earth. Only crazy people go inside the earth, because every smart person knows it is dangerous. When Micah asked, no one was willing to show them where the hole into the earth was. Later, one of the young natives who was called Hanska told them that though the tribe was afraid of the hole in the ground and the loud noises that came out of it, he had been inside before. He would be willing to lead them there. Leaving Caleb with the ship, Micah, George, William and Arthur followed Hanska through the forest. A girl from the tribe who apparently was interested in Hanska followed the group from a distance. After walking for about an hour, they saw a large rock jutting out of the ground. As they moved torward it, they scared up what appeared to be a pig just like the ones they had back in the Old World. Haska told them they had been left by the former strangers and had grown quite wild and populous on the island. Upon arriving at the rock mound, Haska pulled the vegetation aside that blocked a tiny entrance into a narrow cave. The men lit the three torches they had brought and squeezed one by one through the opening. Descending into the cave, they saw a light up ahead. When Micah walked into a room of the cave, he saw a tiny rowboat sized opening that revealed that this cave opened into the ocean. Then he saw it! Chests and chests full of something! If the one that was broken up was any indication, it was a hidden treasure that had rested their for the last seventy years. They were all shocked! An overview of the MOC:

I meant to post this last month, but got caught up with work. I am particularly interested in criticism on the furniture, as that is something that I have never built a lot of in the past. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Captain Anthony Genaro" announced the steward. With his hat under his left arm, Captain Genaro paused and bowed towards the idol of Poseidon on the mantle before immediately turning towards the commandant's desk and the unknown gentleman, a scowl on his face, sitting behind it. "I'm afraid, sir, that I have not yet made your acquaintance," said Genaro, standing resolute. "Humph, and a small wonder, too. Shaggy, unshaven, and a wig that doesn't even properly cover the whole head" observed the stranger just loud enough for Genaro to hear. "I am Monsignor Befort de Granoleon, assistant to His Majesty's representative. Yes, I know you are meeting with Commandant Millet, but he is indisposed of, and as his assistant, I am taking all his appointments for the time being." The Admiralty Without offering a seat to Genaro, Befort rummaged through the papers that littered the desk, came up with a folded letter, and handed it to Genaro. Taking a sip of wine (which Befort had also declined to offer to Genaro), Genaro began to read the letter and was astonished by what he saw. "Surly there has been a mistake!" exclaimed Genaro. "It appears that I have been the Little Hermes, a mere merchantman." Looking up from his paperwork, Befort paused and stared at Genaro. "You are an officer in the King's fleet and a servant to the crown, and you shall do as he and his representatives command." "This command may be fitting of a lieutenant, but I am a proper post-captain and am entitled to," Genaro began to object. "You are entitled to nothing, Captain" interrupted Befort, "you may either take this command or you may deny it. It makes no difference to me, but do hasten with your decision as you are not the only appointment I have today." The Admiralty Minutes later, a furious Captain Genaro exited the Admiralty building, orders for the Little Hermes in hand. It may have been a blackguardly offer, but Genaro's heart longed for the sea (and the full pay that came with it), and you couldn't turn down a command without being blacklisted for years to come.

The Aurei Lacerta The personal ship of Revon de Crocodil, which he sails on trading missions for the Merchant's Colonial Trading Company. Today he sails for the world with a cargo of Rum and nails. His first mate Vasco keeps an eye out for sea rats from the bow. My first ship, which was a challenge. C&C welcome! LDD doesn't have sails. Should've used Mecabricks for this one.

Previous Builds Intro: Silent Wolf FB1: "Flying Colt" Ch1 CatA: Ahoy, Fishermen! While Silent Wolf and the crew were gone exploring on the "Flying Colt", Charles has been busy going back and forth between the office in town and the ranch. He is working hard to continue to expand the market for the horses they are breeding and training. Whenever a large potential investor comes around, Charles will often take him out to the ranch near Arlingsport to show their horses and training. Today he has a gentleman of Eslandola visiting the ranch to see what is going on. They have just brokered a deal for a lucrative contract over the course of the next two years.

"Whoa, steady girl," said Captain Anthony Genaro as he navigated his horse around workmen doing their part to ensure an uninterrupted flow of ore reached the surface and ultimately the smelters in Breshaun. Taking the utmost care not to disrupt anything, Genaro lead his horse towards Harold Kimber, whose black suit made him easily identifiable among a sea of workmen. As Genaro approached, Mr. Kimber turned around and cried out a traditional Oleander greeting. "Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades be with you Captain. I trust you had no difficulty in finding this place." "And may the gods stand by you, Mr. Kimber" replied Genaro. "And I'm not sure how anyone could possibly get lost. I must have passed five different carts hauling ore into town, not to mention the ruts in the road must be five inches deep from all the traffic." Genaro paused for a moment to dismount and managed to get his sword stuck in the stirrups in the process. After a few oaths and some assistance from Mr. Kimber, Genaro continued. "I've never been so pleased in my life, well, never so pleased by land, that is." "You're too kind," replied Mr. Kimber with a small bow. "And I'm sure you'll continue to be pleased once I show you last month's records. Come, they're in the stone structure behind you." Mr. Kimber continued to talk about the operations as they walked, mentioning "pumps constantly jammed with rock" and "veins that go on for miles," and though Genaro smiled and nodded at appropriate times, he was barely paying attention. But who could blame him? After all, his risky investment had paid off, he was just beginning to learn of the extent of his new wealth, and in a few months time, he would have enough doubloons to invest in new ventures. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As always, comments and criticism are welcome . March 616 "Hoooray!!" Bells are ringing and the citizens of Stedor are running towards the quays. Cheering and chanting for the proof of the power of Stedor. A 55-gun 3rd rate ship of the line. At this moment the most powerfull ship ever seen in Halos and the first ship that will be granted a class 5+ classification! Sure there will follow other ships, probably even bigger, but this vessel is the first and will become legendary for ever. The "Margot", named after the fiancee of Governor Maximilian Damaximus and treasured like the girl herself. Admiral Bostoximus will command the ship. A bright and gloryful future is laying ahead! Side with open gunports: Side with closed gunports: Admiral Bostoximus: General Whisximus: Governor Damaximus & Princess Margot (and also King Fernando Augusto VII) Some stuff can be removed easily to have access to the cabins: Captain's Cabin: Even a whole part of the side can be removed: Looks like someone is already partying too hard ------------------ Aftermath ---------------------------- Yes, I did it!!!! 4 months work in it. The last 2 days were nothing but rigging for me... But I am soooooo happy with the result (my fiancee Margot after whom I named the vessel as well). So proud! Thanks a lot to Captain Green Hair and Sebeus I for the help and feedback! Comments & criticism welcome! Praise is ofcourse welcome! And to all (potential) enemies of Eslandola: why don't you give your ships already now? It would be a shame to see them lost in a battle due the difference in gun strenght (she should have a 13 gun rating based on the 55 guns she actually can carry).
