Hi, the NC-4 was a flying boat, manufactured by the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company in Buffalo, NY. In May 1919 it became the first aircraft to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. I really like the design of this plane and so I built it in the LDD. Here are the pics: Best Vaionaut

In the year 2561, a gas giant exists known as R7-55, or Gelo. The planet is inhabited by a rag tag society of aliens from across the galaxy, living on towns built on small low-orbiting asteroids in the planets sea-like gases. However, only an approximate 700,000 people live on the planet, spread out among the surface, making economy difficult. So what most inhabitants do to make money, is build boat-like transporters designed to "float" across waves of gasses. These are used to transport goods between towns, and look like this: (sorry you can see my finger in this photo.) These "boats" bring and trade goods at trade stores. You can make a trade right through an open window, or you can also buy something inside the shop while your transporter is being loaded. Transporters are created by building a hull out of pretty much any material you can get your hands on, then adding a "mast",with some pieces of fabric to catch the wind. Engines usually consist of a few gas tanks connected to a compression chamber, to create a small (or large) flame to propel the transporter through the gasses. A rudder is always added for steering, and occasionally an extra fin or two for stability. While most transporters are relatively small, this is the largest transporter ever built, owned by Arnold Henderson and is wife. In this picture, it's docking with Dragon Traders, the planets most successful trade shop. The trade shop is so successful, it had a crane built in 2558 so it could load larger amounts of goods in faster time. The transporter has been designed to go longer distances and hold more cargo, the engine is significantly larger, and also carries a water tank and a generator for the on board cabin. Even though the engine is much larger, you can still see the similarities it has with the other much smaller transporter. here you can see the ships cabin, and its detailed interior. I had some trouble getting a good roof with my peices, so it's a little flimsy. You can see my design though. Sometimes pickup trucks ship out goods to other planets. This is an old one way back from 2234! And here are some shots from inside Dragon Traders. Here you can see the shop level of the trade store. Funny, I thought they stopped selling alien weapons. And for fun here are some goods that are often shipped between towns. Gold, warp crystals, and carbon rods. And always, a transporter operator should be aware of the unpredictable lighting storms that happen in the planets gassy layers, as they can easily knock a transporter off course. hope you enjoyed the post, Th3_Br1ck_Kid

Hi there! For my next MOC I wanted to do something different. I chose a RC Air Propelled Boat as it has some interesting functionality with the big propeller and the flaps at the back. As I love building things that move around, the boat can drive and steer as well (on wheels). Steering while going forwards works like a car driving backwards. Thus steering while driving backwards is a bit unrealistic for a boat. Everything is scaled around the propeller, so I built the propeller setup first, then steering, drive & clutch, battery & lights then bodywork. I started off by using a lot of gears throughout the boat, however it was creating issues so I streamlined it as best I could using chains. I was also happy to finally add a clutch to one of my builds. Please note that this model doesn't float or is actually air powered. It would sink like a stone and destroy all PF components :) Features - 2x L motors at 1:1.67 - 1x Servo - functional propeller when driven - functional flaps when steered - functional door - clutch - battery access on side - working lights - 42Lx19Wx24H (in studs) - 1003g The design is fairly basic and there's no interesting connections throughout the build, but it ended up looking half decent. It's not based on anything specific, which made the design process easier. I would have preferred running the L motors at 1:3, but it was struggling a bit to move. The servo stopped working halfway through this build so I have no video to show yet. I need to wait for lego to send a replacement. Instructions will be up on Rebrickable eventually. EDIT: Video is now complete Hope you like it. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Location: B06, Sorn Tags: Water Vehicle, Vehicle, Job: Driver Start Log: Stationed on Sorn to patrol the waters, I got to use a MANTIS ski-boat which is quite a fun ride! Plenty of speed and maneuverability, plus some serious firepower. I was messing around with the black ski parts and liked how they looked in a diamond shape, so decided to use them as skis for the boat. The windshield opens to allow access to the cab, and the propeller spins. The water design is made using only 2×2 round plates. Comments and suggestions welcome

The Gift Ship Hello all, nice to meet you! Here is my entry for the Winter Village contest. The Gift Ship! Sometimes Santa and the elves like to get out of the shop and take boat ride around the Winter Village. They go sailing around fishing for gifts and sharing them with children around the coasts. The Gift Ship comes complete with wrapping stations with ribbon and tape, rolls of wrapping paper, AND, get this, GIFTS! I wanted to make something convertible since I feel like the past WV could give the option for closing up the backs without sacrificing a lot and increase play value and display options. I also felt that while always awesome the locomotives have been stealing the spotlight away from other perfectly good forms of transportation! I had much more planned but unfortunately I only had last night to work on this and things escalated pretty quickly in the building department. Hope you enjoy the photos and can find some techniques and brick combinations you like! Let's set sail! Thank you for looking and have a Happy New Year!!! Using his skiff the Gee Golly Dandy Pierre takes his wares to town each week. His boat is perfect for sailing along the coast, but Pierre fears losing sight of land in his small craft. This skiff is built for the Monthly Commerce and Raiding Action(MCRA) and is small enough for a free licence. Enemies of Oleon beware, because the Gee Golly Dandy will be out and... running to port! 'Somehow I ended up posting this in the wrong forum. Can a moderator please move it to the BoBS forum. Thank you.

On Farmolis's Famous Octan Olympic Arena, where all the best and brightest athletes have come to train! Including none other than Dr. Danielle Long, who was surprised to wake up to a holo-mail from CEO Pombe, requesting her presence at the games... on penalty of forfeiture of shares... Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Dr. Long: "this looks like and engine attached to a cockpit with two wings. Is this even a boat?" Engineer: "Yup! Class 1, F. Speed class 2, $ 1, C 0, W 0." Dr. Long: "What?" Engineer: "Do you disagree with my classification? I mean, it's clearly a catamaran." Dr. Long: "I don't know what that means." Engineer: "I thought you liked boats! Isn't that why you insisted on using the Cog? I mean, apart from the fact that "Cog" is the name of a medieval ship, I can't see why you would have loyal to the brand name." Dr. Long: "Cog is a type of boat?" Engineer: "yes. From the medieval Era of European history." Dr. Long: "and was that before or after the Egyptians?" Engineer: "After." Dr. Long: "huh. I'm not a history expert." Engineer: "yeah, Let's stick to sci-fi." Dr. Long: "Sci-fi?" Engineer: "I meant science." Dr. Long: "So, this thing doesn't have controls. How do I pilot it?" Engineer: "the AI pilots for you, but you can override and control it with your helmet." Dr. Long. "Thank the stars. I despise pointless self endangerment like this, so it'd be best if the AI took care of that. Also I've never pilotted a boat." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr

Slipwave is a heavily modified racing boat constructed by a team of MANTIS marine engineers and special forces agents on Sorn. The need to ensure critical MANTIS operations could continue following the planet's capture by Kawashita, the team developed a craft both fast and quiet by levitating the rear engine section out of the water and propelling it with an extra pair of anti-gravity engines mounted at 90 degrees. Compared to more traditional aquatic propulsion methods, the anti-grav engines are less powerful than hydro-jets and less responsive than propellors but with such a small displacement, resistance from the water is minimised allowing them deliver comparable power-to-weight ratios. The overdrive boosters positioned amidships burn Nitronium Oxide to super heat the anti-matter in the repulsers and provide more power but the system overheats quickly, utilising two dump-valves on each side to expel unburnt fuel and heat when the anti-matter reaches critical temperatures. The rear is suspended by two angled anti-matter repulsers which also steer the craft. The front-end maximised aero and hydro-dynamicity by reducing displacement and air/water resistance. Technical cutaway of front-end. Scrutineering: Thank you for looking.

It's right at 20 long, the photo doesn't show it proper, if anyone has a issue I'll pop the flame out. Thanks for looking!

My next entry into the Space Olympic Games, for the Boat category: The Awkward Turtle Designed to allow the driver to see what's under him in the water, this unique boat provides great visibility in all directions for enhanced tactical planning during a race. It barely fits within 10x20, but it does fit.

Hello, I have created a MOC of the Orca from the classic Steven Spielberg film, Jaws. I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts, opinions on it? http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/62906 I have tried to be as close to the original ship as possible, including getting the sheer and camber of the vessel. Some bits were quite difficult to put in, such as the curved railings heading down to the bow from the pulpit. I also couldn't find a rope on LDD for the barrel on the transom, so I decided to use a chain. Thanks for viewing!

Rudo Villano set out with something a little more robust to take on the rough waters of the river. He wants that extra edge to get to the gold and jewels and grab the choicest loot. With a mount for his machine gun, rivals should think twice to try and cross him. This is another MOC from my Adventurer's refresh that is a new take on an old set. The Jungle subtheme set River Raft was one of the few Jungle sets I was able to pick up as a child. I built this boat as a raft seemed a trifle flimsy all told. This Rudo is a brand new build. The old face print was too faded, so I tried to keep with similar looks and expression. The new hat is still black, but not the old style, it struck me as better suited. I stayed with the rough-cut look, though there was nothing exactly like his original torso I thought this one fitted the bill. Printed legs and a new gun make this guy a little more threatening too. Comments etc appreciated.

Here's my creation for the C-Model contest: Made from set 42026 and 42007 Inspired by the "side wheeler riverboats" of old found on the Mississippi river, I made this boat. If they had powerboats in the 1800's on the Mississippi river, I think this is what it would have looked like A grand total of 401 parts (including spare parts) to play with this is the result: Since I had some parts left over I added some details on top of the fake 2 cylinder engine. To utilize the springs I decided to make a little "bumper" out of the bow of the boat. Nobody likes their Lego crashing into walls after all, so this softens the blow a little. I think this is the first model I made where I didn't have enough black pins (as if any AFOL doesn't have enough of those ), luckily both sets provide plenty of blue 3L pins, but to not ruin the look of the model I tried to hide these as much as possible in the bottom of the boat. The "cloud of smoke" coming out of the exhaust pipe can move up and down. The "side paddler" wheels are attached to the mechanism that lowers and raises the "cloud of smoke". I also made a (very) short video demonstrating the model: In the end I had 22 parts (including the spare parts the sets provide) left over: Hope you guys like it and had a little laugh like I did making and playing with this

Since C-model contest began I was thinking about building something BIG but I wasn't sure if I finish it in time. So I've built this little pull-back trike to get "plan B" and then immediatelly began working on my second alternative model out of set 9394. I wanted to be the first who rebuilds this jet plane into boat but izorn was bit faster... So my alternate is hovercraft. Its main feature is quite unique steering. It turns just pair of rudders instead of whole propeller as you can see among official hovercraft models. This is list of all functions: three wheels chassis front axle drives propeller rear axle "HOG" steering that also turns pair of rudders opening windscreen steering wheel and adjustable seat in cab This is mechanism inside - green is steering and red is drive for propeller 41 left over parts And there are few pictures from building process bellow: I began with prototype of rear axle to check steering performance. Then I built the most difficult part of model - crossing of drive and steering axles. And this was first prototype of model. More pictures

Sen. Palomar's boat is lovely for smuggling artifacts along the river. Mister Pit has a good eye for navigation and the cargo will fetch a good price for no-questions-asked collectors. McClucksy is good luck too, or a helpful distraction to anything chompy that gets on the boat... Another Adventurer boat, again not a straight refurbished set but something in the spirit of the theme. I used the cruiser hull, not my favourite sort of thing to work with but the parts needed to perfectly brickbuild a hull weren't about for me to build with. The cargo crane spins and the winder moves the hook up and down. Senor Ekaitz Palomar took over the family business from his brother after the elder took to smuggling things slightly more noticeably illegal than jewels and artifacts. He's a sharp dressed man with a taste for fine gemstones and rare artifacts. I used a suit from the LEGO Movie theme for a dapper look, Lone Ranger Hat and gun to refresh the older elements of the original Senor Palomar and the Space Hero head, which always looked a little too smug for my tastes so it fits perfectly on this 'gentleman'. The sort of unexpected bad guy any adventurer might come across; a genial host who takes in the explorer to his fine estate so they might sleep under a roof of a night, then the adventurer finds themself shouting "IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!!" At him as he sails away downriver with a craftily thieved artifact a number of days later. Mister Pit is a thug for hire who happens to know a little about river navigation and steering a boat. There is plenty of gold out in that jungle and he's happy to take some off the boss's hands for a simple river trip. Generic thug really. I made him as a back-up to any number of more talented villains. The schemer always needs someone who treads heavily and carries something smashy. And stabby in this case too.

Some time ago i started toying around with the idea of building a LEGO sailboat. After watching a video of Sariel where he mentioned doing it with LEGO-sails, I really started thinking about the approach i'd take. Building a LEGO sailboat is not as easy as you might think because LEGO hulls leave a lot to be desired, weight is obviously a crucial factor and if you want to go for performance, then there are a lot of stresses the build needs to handle. Also, LEGO does not make sails that offer the performance i was looking for, so i had to make those myself. Purist may not like my MOC because of the amount of non-LEGO parts (rigging and sails), but I am mostly interested in performance. And perform it surely does, the MOC took its maiden voyage yesterday with a stiff breeze in open water and it performed beautifully, good speed, stability and sailing close hauled was no problem. Unfortunately I wasn't able to film it, as controlling the boat especially with the high wind took all my focus. And there was a huge problem, which i had feared before hand. The range of the PF remote outdoors was really poor, only 2-3 meter which was not near enough to properly control the boat. So i am desperately waiting for either the SBrick or somesuch to become available so i can make a proper video. The functions of the MOC are: two remote controlled rudders and a remote controlled sheet for the mainsail. The jib is self-tacking. There are still quite a lot of improvements i am planning to make, so far is was mostly a proof of concept. The link offers a small video of the main RC functions.

I loved the film Avengers (I mean who doesn't!!) and was so exited to find out they were making lego sets of them that I bought them the day they came out!! I loved the sets but I really wanted to build some extra vehicles and building as well as characters (which I will post on another topic) to play with and put on display with my other sets. This is the first MOC that I have made that (I think counts as most of the other ones were a bit... well... rubbish) and I hope that you enjoy my work. It didn't take that long (20 mins + time to sort out decals) as most of the pieces that I used can from LEGO Agents so most of the Dark Blue pieces were there for me. I was originally making a submarine but I ran out of time. So here it is (I understand the decals aren't that fantastic but the printer that I use isn't that good!!) Side View: This is the best view (in my opinion!) as it shows of the whole of the boat and the shield logos on the side. Top View: I tried to show all of the interier. This is still a WIP (work in progress) so the interier will be improved!! I decided to write a little story to go along with the set (like the description in the lego catalog): The evil members of H.Y.D.R.A have stolen the secret information about the Avengers! Chase them down with the high speed S.H.I.E.L.D boat. Use the jet at the back to propell your self into the enemys base or chase them down on the waves. Who will win? You decide.

Hi everyone, here is my latest MOC The Brick and Stud Tavern which I've been working on for the last couple of months, a couple of bricklink orders slowed things down a little. I've wanted to do a pub for a while now and wanted to include more scene's with water so it seemed a good idea to combine the two. I had to scale it down from the quayside/fishing port I had in mind originally (Perhaps that will wait for another day), so a small river or canal seemed the obvious choice. This is inspired by canals seen in the UK, maybe I'll do a dutch canal someday I took ideas from - The Riverbank cottage - a previous MOC of mine which I made last year. I spent quite a bit of time perfecting the windows trying to get the right proportions on the lintels and framing without leaving unsightly gaps. The canal boat/narrowboat was something I had in mind to make the water look a little more interesting and went through several revisions before settling with this one. I found it difficult to get a sharp point on the front of the boat and eventually settled for a simpler rounded shape, perhaps not as realistic but nevermind! Sadly no interior this time round as I was mainly focused on landscaping. Anyway on with the pics, there are only 4 on this occasion; If you'd rather view them on flickr the link is here https://www.flickr.c...s/52656812@N04/ Here's hoping for a new camera for my birthday this year! Any thoughts or comments welcomed! Cheers

A counter to LordDan at K3 Not all citizens of Easterbroke believe that treason is the best way to earn their right to join with Avalonia. Therefore, these loyalists have manned small, fast patrolboats to intercept the smugglers running weapons to fuel war and pain on Easterbroke. ______________ 1) Sorry for the photoquality, but light was getting dim... 2) This was a surprisingly complex technique for building a boat, but quite fun! 3) I have tried to recreate LordDan's rock technique 4) C&C welcome
