  1. They call those who ride them "rednecks". But while you may ponder whether the setup like this is an overkill or not, a pickup mounted on 10' wheels is a thing to remember no matter the circumstances. Features: ► forward/reverse drive ► separately-driven L6 turbocharged Diesel engine with moving pistons and cooling fan ► steering ► differential and gearing for speed ► simplified cockpit with steering wheel and IR-receiver seats. ► opening cab doors and hood ► exhaust stack ► details such as radiator with grille, front and rear lights, bull bar and reinforced bumpers, roof rack with extra floodlights, rear view mirrors, desert safety flag and fenders 42030 C-model, uses more than 80% of set's parts (loose assumption). 42 studs long and heavy. Despite its weight and only one XL motor as means of propulsion, it has a quite decent speed - it picks up (pun intended) a huge momentum - and an impressive turning radius. Engine is separately powered by L motor. Steering is much like in a video game, where both reverse and brakes are controlled by the same button. Unsuspected bonus: by accident, the bed is perfectly shaped to hold the RC control unit which consists of two RC pilots with a standard RC-car additions. The set's M motor lies dormant, waiting to be used on some extra function I can't currently come up with. It'd be hard to craft the instructions in LDD, but I'll try one day.
  2. I took my oldest set out of closet week ago. It's Designer set 4884 - Wild Hunters. ...and started building something cute out of it. I began with boobs, continued with body, arms, head and finally legs. I wanted her to be totally naked but I had to dress her little bit as I was lacking in tan bricks. Even she is not as curvy as I would like her to be she looks good and features good posability. So let me introduce you Woman in Bikini and High Boots. Do you like her?
  3. Hi! I would like to present you my TC5 competition entry: I named her The Dawnbreaker She's built out of 9392 Quad Bike and 42026 Black Champion Racer. She features independant front axle and dragged rear axle suspension, RWD by a pull-back motor, chain driven single cylinder fake engine, automatic return-to-centre steering provided by a huge caster angle (steering is done by the steering wheel in the cab) and manualy adjustable rear wing. I used all the stickers from 42026, which are the best looking stickers LEGO ever made, and none from 9392. Some more photos... I have a leftover of 54 from 343 pieces including spare parts (13 of those are chain links). I am really satisfied how it turned out and I think there won't be any more changes to it. I hope you like it as much as I do. I thank you in advance for your comment and constructive criticism. Building instructions available on rebrickable.com, enjoy Best regards, Miha
  4. Since C-model contest began I was thinking about building something BIG but I wasn't sure if I finish it in time. So I've built this little pull-back trike to get "plan B" and then immediatelly began working on my second alternative model out of set 9394. I wanted to be the first who rebuilds this jet plane into boat but izorn was bit faster... So my alternate is hovercraft. Its main feature is quite unique steering. It turns just pair of rudders instead of whole propeller as you can see among official hovercraft models. This is list of all functions: three wheels chassis front axle drives propeller rear axle "HOG" steering that also turns pair of rudders opening windscreen steering wheel and adjustable seat in cab This is mechanism inside - green is steering and red is drive for propeller 41 left over parts And there are few pictures from building process bellow: I began with prototype of rear axle to check steering performance. Then I built the most difficult part of model - crossing of drive and steering axles. And this was first prototype of model. More pictures
  5. Hi there, This is my first post on Eurobricks, and my modest participation to TC5. I worked with the 8047 "Compact Excavator" from 2009: This set was my first lego technic after my dark age (I could not resist when I saw it in the supermarket). It is rather small (252 parts), but nicely packed with functions for its size. The original B-model (a compact log-loader) is rather cool as well, and uses 229 parts. Building a C-model for this set was therefore my personal dedication to this wonderful set. Here it goes, a snow groomer: Design: I tried to provide as much detail as I could. The blade is full thanks to the (only) two panels from the original set. We also have a front light and a beacon on top. There is a bit of blue inside the cabin to evoke some seats, but no more there, as the space is occupied by the lifting mechanism of the blade. The two exhaust pipes are (maybe) oversized, but this was a necessity for a good playability. Functions: There are three: Lift of blade (left exhaust pipe, worm gear, 24t crown, lift arms) Lift of tiller (right exhaust pipe, worm gear, 8t, lift arm) Working tiller, driven by the caterpillars (12t-12t, 2 times). In addition, the blade is manually steerable (pin with friction). Some view to see the mechanisms: And here is how the thing works: In blue is the lifting of the front blade, in green the lifting of the tiller, and in red the rotation of the tiller. Recycling of parts: The model uses 213 parts, that is a bit less than the original B-model. But well, this is a C-model :) We have three real functions, which is actually better than the A-model! Gears are all reused apart from the turntable (which was not used as a gear in the A-model anyway), and the 20t with peghole. Four 16t are here not used as gears (the ones on the tiller), but the two 12t double-bevel, which were used as knobs for moving the arm on the A-model, are here functional and part of the transmission of the tiller. That's it... any comment welcome. I can post more pictures if needed (although there is not much more to show I'm afraid :D). Instructions are available at rebrickable (Alter-Lego is my pseudo on rebrickable, login was already taken on Eurobricks).
  6. While watching the for the new Digital Building Instructions, I noticed an unfamiliar motorbike in the background. (I've added some images as attachment, does that work?).It looks like a café racer based on the 8051 set, but as far as I can work out, it has some additional parts. The top half of the motor for example appears to be brick-build with parts not included in the set, so it's not a true C-model. I would love to build it but can't figure out the frame and the mounting of the handle bars. Any ideas?
  7. Searching the web I stumbled upon this nice creation. The 42000 proves to be a nice model for C-Models. More picture can be found on Brickshelf. More information can be found on Techlug.fr. And the LDD File is available! Here's the original from the game:
  8. I had two weeks of holiday and took set 9396 with me to have some relaxing lego building. I wanted to build a C-model for 9396 and I think it worked out quite nice for the idea that I had. It features: - Cyclic control with one direction for each joystick and seat. These pilots need to cooperate! Frontseat controls forward/backward movement. Backseat controls left/right movement - Working landing gear, controlled by the black 20 tooth gear and one sLA. - Fuel probe in front for aerial refueling - One part that isn't actually from set 9396. I think it's a pitty this set doesn't come with one or two universal joints. Pictures: Building a C-model is interesting and difficult at the same time. As you can see I tried to use some parts in different ways than on the A and B models. The main rotor is quite a heavy part, and the control needed to be sturdy, so that it wouldn't fall over or something. For this I used as much blue friction pins, and an extra link as support. To stop it's movement and hitting the helicopter I used some towballs with pin. (see picture below) Attaching the front wheel was a puzzle as well, there wasnt much room with the link to the front joystick. With all the moving beams underneath it is quite packed, but movement is smooth. Thanks for reading, comments are welcome. All pictures on my brickshelf. (once moderated)
  9. Let me introduce myself and tell you something about this new topic. Some of you may know me in connection with modification of alternative model from set 8052. I modified it into truck with work platform last summer and provided you building instruction via brickshelf. It is not my only creation so I decided to share my other creations with you too. One more note before introducing my models – I am focused on building models from one set so they could be named as “unofficial alternative models”. It’s enough about me and let’s look at what I have for you now! This is truck with work platform I spoke about above. My latest creation is “telehandler” also from set 8052. Honestly it doesn’t have telescopic boom but at least it looks like it has... :) It features following functions: lifting boom via linear actuator and medium motor with gear ratio 1:3 (it is as slow as lifting container in main model) rear axle steering with eccentric control via beacon on roof of cabin – this was little puzzle because lack of bevel gears front stabilizers which are able to lift front wheels little bit above land adjustable rear mirror (I like especially that one on side of battery box)
