This is my first MOC with colours, normally I build with white Lego but i got inspired from Carebear's Kitty Kat House. I wanted to combine the playfulness of Fabuland with some of the elegance from the modular houses and make a little scene. It was so much fun to build. I am happy for tips and critique. More pics on flickr: https://www.flickr.c...8689@N05/albums Edward Elephant’s House and the Car accident It was a beautiful day in Fabuland! Edward Elephant was working in the garden and his wife Lisa Lamb was hanging out the laundry. Lisa's old friend Boris Bulldog was trying to catch the rare Red spider that had been seen in the area for the first time in fifty years. The sun was shining and they were all happy as Edward's twin brother, Edward Fisherman, was going to visit them this afternoon. Suddendly, everybody heard a crash and a scream! Edward Fisherman: No, officer, I wasn't speeding! I was drivng slowly and then, BAAAM, this guy came out of nowhere. I had no chance to stop. Police officer: Inspector Dogge, did you find anything? Inspector Dogge: Yes, I have clear evidence that this is no random cosplayer. The shield is made of a Vibranium iron alloy and it can only be Captain America himself under that car. Police officer: Then I will not even file a report, nobody will come looking for him. Inspector Dogge: Are you crazy? They will send Black Widow and she's going to turn Fabuland upside down looking for Captain! Police officer: Haven't you heard? He's been a Hydra agent all the time! Nobody will miss him. Inspector Dogge: No, no, that was a joke! He is not Hydra and he is still everybody's hero. Police officer: A joke? But that is not fun at all! Inspector Dogge: No, I know, but those guys seem to like those kind of jokes. Later on Captain woke up and everybody continued their day in a happy mood. It’s Fabuland after all. One last pic from a bird’s perspective

Gilbert Goat built his windmill on a large rock floating in the sky, so that he could catch more of the wind. He uses a balloon to travel up and down to the village when he needs to. I always wanted to try buiding a floating rock, and it was when I acquired a bunch of trans clear technic beams that I had the idea of trying to use them as water. The rock is quite large and heavy, and both times I've displayed this, everyone comments that they think it's going to fall over. During building it almost fell over several times as I figured out how to make it stable, but it's quite well anchered now, even though it tends to lean to one side, and changes what side it leans to when I put on or take off the windmill :P It's also funny how parents are terrified to let their kids touch it, unlike anything else I've ever displayed... The funny thing is you can actually push it a bit, and it will wobble a bit back and forth, but not fall over And a horizontal vertical () video of the windmill spinning: Sorry

This is my finished layout for Brickvention 2014, a lego convention that took place in Melbourne, Australia in the middle of Jan. Fabuland figures were a big fixture of my childhood (my sister had them), as was The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Mashing up the two themes was a huge nostalgia trip for me. You could tell all the children of the 70’s at the convention open days, cause they seemed enchanted by the distinctive anthropomorphic figures as well! I had a full interior for the upper burrow and a partial cutaway interior for the lower right hand one as well. In addition, this was my first power functions moc, with a switch at the back making the sails on the windmill turn. There is a short video showing the windmill turning on my Flickr, for those who are interested. Some of the figures were hand painted to fit the Hobbit theme better, wheras i made others little vests and dresses out of fabric. The difference in treatment was because half of the Fabuland figs came from my partner's old childhood lego box - i wasn't going to paint on them! Gandalf also had his own robe/cloak made of leather and was topped by the official Gandalf hat, stuck on by a piece of Blu-tack. A photo from my table at Brickvention. You might notice the lack of the small tree on top of the hill - that was a post-convention addition. (As was the swan and ducks) The ineriors seen from the back right-hand corner, (removing that module for better light) I've already been taken to task about how Tolkein specifically said that hobbit burrows were all build on one level; but then hobbits didn't have animal heads in the text either so whatevs. (Plus i ran out of brown bricks for the sides and i really wanted to add a larder!) Bottom burrow - this cutaway was added late in the build, a great idea by Flickr user E.B. so thanks for that mate! It was quite hard to see the detail inside unless i pull the front wall away as i've done here. The button is for a light brick in the fireplace, but sadly it didn't turn out as bright as i would have liked. I was lucky enough at Brickvention to win a commendation from the judges, which was pretty cool! (The prize was the Mini-modulars set, which is a super sweet build btw - now i want to complete it by building the 4 most recent models... ) Thanks for looking peeps! I hope you have enjoyed my build - c&c welcome of course!

According to this contest at flickr, war has erupted between Heartlake City and Fabuland. In the fight against the Friends of Heartlake City, the Fabuland military forces have deployed their new weapon: a drone carrier loaded with autonomous drones painted in camouflage to infiltrate the Friends military. As some of you may have noticed, I have recently acquired a generous amount of Fabuland sets . And for some reason I figured I'd try my hand at a review with one of them . Now this may come as a shock to you, but I have never actually built a Fabuland set before . So join me as I discover what that is all about I didn't get any box with this set, so I'm going to just start out with a stock picture of the box front from brickset. bricklink is so kind to provide a picture that shows a little bit more of the box, but it's a tiny picture... Anyway, enough about the box, I'm sure it was a very cool box with a nice flip cover and everything, but you'll just have to fantasize about that... Now let's take a look at the instructions! Yes, those I have! Same picture on the front page as the box, except it's a drawing rather than a picture. Let's open it! Ok... uhm... it's in German. My German is more than a little rusty, but I'll see what I can get out of it. Now, I'm pretty sure it says the Walrus' name is Willem Walroß (woo, I found out how to type that funny letter on my keyboard!). And he commands and maneuvers the ship. Put him at the helm, the captain is Wilhelm! Sorry, the German text is in rhymes... I'm no good at that . The next paragraph makes less sense to me, so I'm going to just put the whole thing into Google translate: "His command is on board for two monkeys that are very keen! There to cleanliness. Everywhere there is discipline." Uhm, ok... So there are two monkeys who like cleanliness on board, and they're well disciplined... or something... The monkeys apparently have no name. Ok, I need a break from the German, time to look at the parts instead. These are the key parts of this set. The boat hull and a couple of water wheels. Sorry that this top down picture doesn't show the side of the hull, but it'll be visible later once I've started building. Here are some very iconic Fabuland parts, 5 wall sections: 4 windows and a door. I don't think I have any (or at least not many) of these particular windows yet, so they are most welcome in my parts collection. The set naturally also has some standard bricks and plates. Not a lot of excitement here. Out of all the parts in this set, the bricks were the only ones to have any significant amount of scratches. But they had no color fading. I was very pleased that all the specific Fabuland parts were in very good condition. Oh look, a steering wheel! Or is it called a rudder? And there's a table and two chairs, and some fence pieces in red. Neat! I don't think I have any red fence pieces either. And lastly, the accessories! Quite a few in this set actually, and I'm very pleased to get the wrench and the, ehm, bricklink calls it a jerrycan, which I didn't have from before. Now the Fabufigs! Very pleased to see them in excellent condition, no loose joints or faded print. Willem in the middle here, and his two disciplined monkeys with no name. I think I'll call them Max and Mark Monkey. They have the old style eyes, and no torso prints. Time to do some building! I better flip through some more of the German instructions... The instruction booklet is laid out as a story with the monkeys building the boat. The build steps are pretty easy to follow, but they do leave some things up to logic/imagination, since parts of the bricks being put on in each image are actually hidden by either the monkeys, other bricks, or even cut at the edge of the page... But since the boat is being built symmetrically, it's not very hard to figure things out. Although maybe kids in the target age would still struggle? No way would this pass today's instruction quality control, with one brick pr image . I also noticed that for some mysterious reason, the figures suddenly changed eye type once the build started . Look at Max and Mark building the boat for me! I'm relieved to see they didn't change their eye types when they started building Oh, look who decided to show up now that the boat is starting to look finished! Eh, not sure what he's saying there, and google translate is being funny again . I think he's just urging them to finish up, with his commanding discipline. "Are you done yet? Where's my bucket?" The complete model should look like this. Did I get it right? I even tried to pose that wrench like in the picture, which was not easy... It's a pretty nice model, and quite sturdy. Oh, you want to know if it floats? Let's try then... Well, that's a no . It floated for about half a second, then the water poured in. It never sank to the bottom, but stayed like this. So no actual water play feature. Ok, so let's go back to the story in the instructions. Our disciplined monkeys have built a boat for the walrus captain, and they have set out to sea. Now what? I can't make out the entire text here, but apparently the captain gets seasick . Yes, that's right, a seasick walrus captain. Ok, now what will the monkeys do about that? Right, of course, quickly build some sort of bicycle instead. So this is an alternate model then? There are no instructions provided to build this model, in fact, this is the only picture of it. Well, it wasn't very hard to figure it out from the picture, so I gave it a try. Now, this model is anything but sturdy. It would not stand up straight long enough for me to take a picture, so I had to lay it on it's side, and even still it broke apart several times as I tried to position the figures and such correctly for the picture. I even had to raise the table by a brick, because it wouldn't fit between the fence pieces as shown in the picture. Well, no matter, because if we refer back to the German poems in the instructions, dear Willem gets landsick as well... Ok Mark and Max, what else have you got up your sleeves? Aha, another alternate model! This one has some quick instructions. And suddenly their eyes are back to the correct type again. As we can see, this alternate model is for a little house with a watermill. And it seems Willem likes this model better, he looks all happy now. We can see the monkeys clearly like this cleanliness, even sweeping the grass . And their eyes changed again, so it wasn't the seasickness that did it... Lazy walrus sitting down while Max and Mark do all the work... It's a nice little house, and not many spare parts left after building it either, except the extra water wheel and the boat hull of course. The back of the instructions shows a Fabuland city with some (or all?) of the other Fabuland sets that were available at the time. Willem is even daring a trip on his boat again here, trying to overcome his seasickness I presume. Looks like the children here are enjoying reading some Fabuland stories, instead of screaming about winning by filling out a survey like kids do nowadays. Now finally, because you people like scores, let's put down some numbers. Design - 9 It's a very cute design, but there's always room for improvement, right? Build - 8 Not a very challenging build, if you disregard the hidden parts in the instructions, but fun with the story to go along with it. Parts - 9 Lots of nice parts for a Fabuland builder in this set Figures - 10 Three very nice Fabuland figures in this set, and they all have hats, and cute eyes! Play feature - 8 It doesn't float! And the alternate model of the bicycle is mostly useless... But the boat slides nicely across the table, and there are many little things to play with here. And no flick fire missiles, hurra! Value for money This depends entirely on if you're able to get a good deal or not, so I'm not going to score this. I got this for free, just had to win a contest first . So for me it's a 10! But at the current bricklink prices for a complete set, I'd say it's a tad expensive for what you get... Overall 9/10 I'm loving this cute little boat Thanks for taking the time to read through my crazy thougts. Unless you just skipped to the end, shame on you

Ricky Raccoon does plenty of odd-jobs around Fabuland town and his little truck takes him there with all the tools he needs. So, I just love the crate element. I love to use it in builds and when I got a lovely classic yellow one I just had to use it. The friendly yellow lent it towards Fabuland but I didn't want to lose it in a bigger vehicle and had envisioned it sitting above some little wheels. A lof of fiddling around later and I was happy. Thus this little truck was born

Pandora Panda got a brand new Roadster for her birthday! Here she is cruising along, ... ... showing off the dark red leather interior and folding roof, ... ... opening doors and uhm... steering wheel, ... ... shiny front, ... ... and (headache-inducing) sloping rear and spare tire. Of course Pandora Panda had to really test the performance of her new Roadster, so she challenged Ricky Raccoon to a race through the streets and forests of Fabuland in his fast Hot Rod. All the Fabulanders came to watch the race and... see Pandora Panda win. Let's see if you can spot the obligatory Fabuland frog.

On the far edge of the village, lies an old abandoned house, called Villa Revenant. Three widows are said to have previously lived in this house. All three supposedly died in the house. Their real names have long since been forgotten, and they have now been nicknamed Ghostly Goat, Poltergeist Pussy and Spooky Sheep. It is said that you'll never know if Ghostly Goat will suddenly appear or disappear in front of you. Poltergeist Pussy is nicknamed as such for always playing tricks on unknowing visitors or passers-by, and Spooky Sheep apparently never leaves her bed. Should you venture up there, she'll be sitting there, staring out and waiting for her husband to return. More pics here, for those who dare

Harriet Slutter and the Philosopher’s Balls Harriet Slutter is off for her first year at PigBlister’s School of Sorcery and Magicky-doings. But, the PigBlister Express has left her in Cockturn Alley and Lord Moldyshorts and his gang of Odor Eaters has other plans for her. Can he stop her from getting to school and get his hands on the Philosopher’s Balls for his diabolical scheme to take over the World? Or will Harriet spoil his plans and make it to school on time? Only you can answer that by signing up for Harriet Slutter Mafia - Book One: Harriet Slutter and the Philosopher’s Balls. Join an advanced game with a basic setup, yet with a unique concept for how the game itself will be approached. Tired of hero worship and meta-gaming? Take part in a concept that attempts to circumvent this pesky Mafia byproduct. In the magic world of Cockturn Alley, you can expect to find a couple of twists, but nothing that a Mafia School graduate can’t handle. Vets and Mafia School graduates are encouraged to sign up. (Current Aperture students can apply, but final decision will be left to the Aperture hosts) No cults, no fake conversions, no resurrections, no vengeful spirits ...there may be a neutral or two. You might see some Hinckely favorites like lovers or the inventor. There may be some never before seen roles as well. Who knows? Structure-wise, Town Night Actions will not be passed on, but the Scum will be able to choose which Action they would like to keep when they lose a member. If the game is brought down to one remaining Scum player, that player will be given a kill and a block Action to be able to use both nightly. I am considering not allowing players to post PMs from other players. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on that. Also, for the first time, I'm engaging in the fhomess rule: all pictures will be hosted on EB so you won't be blocked at work. So, if you'd like to play, please respond to this post with the following information: Your past Mafia experience Your ability to focus on the game over the next 32 days Will you be able to keep up with 20 hour NA deadlines? Your favorite Mafia moment Tell me why you think Vanilla Townies are important or how they are most useful (6 steps in a Mafia application?) Give me your word that you'll participate in whatever crazy concoction I've doctored to avoid the meta-gaming. It will take everyone's cooperation and to operate on their honor. Thanks for checking this out and I hope we have a great game. Currently, I have 26 slots and I can make it more or less depending on how many people sign up. There are two other games currently in progress, but my plan is to leave this signup thread up for about a week. I need to finish the game before Brickworld in June, so we have to start now.

Greta has a spiffy new ride to get around Fabuville, she'll be tearing up the tarmac in no time! If you had not already guessed, Greta is my FabiFig. This car was a fun little play around to build something that would work for both my Fabuland Figure and my Sigfig. I just had to go for a Hotrod because they are just so cool! More Photos here (when moderated)

Bruce Bat is one of the most wealthy citizen of Fabuland City. During the day he has parties with Fabuland's high society, but what nobody knows is that at night he dresses up like a man (the natural enemy of any animal) and becomes the feared Caped Crusader, the Bat-Man! Together with his feathered friend Robin the Bird Wonder, they fight villains such as Celina the Cat, Killer the Croc, or Oswald the Penguin. Here you can see him stopping one of his most notorious enemies from robbing the Fabuland Bank: The Hopper, a rabbit whose brown fur got turned white after he fell into some chemicals, driving him mad. Will the Bat-Man be able to foil his plans? Tune in next time to find out - same Fabu-time, same Fabu-channel! Here's a closer look at the hero and villain, and the Batmobile! I hope you like it. I tried to recreate the simple and colorful look of the Fabuland sets (without actually using many Fabuland parts since I barely have any) and still have it look like a Batman scene. Any comments or criticisms are welcome. Have a fabulous month!

Harold Horse is sad. He was crossing the street and minding his own business, when he slipped on a banana peel and broke his right leg. The Fabuland Ambulance Service is already at the scene, and the ever optimistic Radko Rabbit is getting the brushes ready. But Clarice Cat, the senior officer, has been in this situation before and knows what needs to be done. This is my entry to the Fabuland Vehicle Contest. The ambulance was inspired by a typical Norwegian ambulance: http://upload.wikime...s_18jun2005.jpg.

Hi there! Here's a little thing I originally intended to get done for the FABULAND Vehicle Contest here on EB, but seeing as the voting thread closed on April 17th, I'm a little late to the party... I realised quite early I wouldn't be able to finish it in time, so I didn't rush it, and I have only now been able to snap some proper pictures of it. This is the Faboo GTS, a muscle car with the classic twin white stripes. It features custom chromed wheels (from ChromeBricks) and seats a FABULAND figure without problems - in this case, the FABUfied version of my own s(t)igfig. And it's basically a scaled-up version of the type of car I normally build. I enjoyed building on a slightly different scale for a change - even if it's not very different. The doors are old - I ordered several to be sure I had a pair that wouldn't look too worn - and the black stripe along the bottom is a cutoff from an official LEGO sticker sheet. I hope you like it. Here, have some pictures! Some say his face resembles a BIONICLE mask, and that his bone structure is built from Modulex. All we know is... And remember to stop and smell the flowers. Although... some say he has no sense of smell... Thanks for taking the time to look at this! There's a few more pictures in my Flickr stream, if you're interested.

Here is my entry for the Fabuland Building contest - Henry Horse's home Sunnyside Manor. Comments/critiques/suggestions always welcome. Outside, we've got some flower beds, a deck above the garage with a BBQ for grilling up some veggies, and Henry's trying out some 'square-foot gardening' in the side vegetable garden. Inside, there is a living room and kitchen downstairs, with the TV room and bedroom upstairs This started off as a small build but somehow kept growing until I ran out of red and yellow '1 by x' pieces. I hope the lack of Fabuland parts/figures is OK for the contest -> I don't have any, but I couldn't resist creating something for Fabuland month. (prior to this I didn't even know what Fabuland was...and now I've been bitten by the FabuBug) One day I hope to get a Henry Horse (the one with grey overalls) just because he's so cute . Well, whether or not this qualifies, I had a blast building it, and I hope you guys like it !

As everyone could find out in recent review by Pandora, Barney Bear (3629) has a very charming car. I got my Barney (my first FABULAND set) with the beauty in 1981. But in order to protect that vintage car for many more years to come, he surely needs a garage! This is my entry for the FABULAND Building contest: Here is my take on what could Barney's garage look like (with small terrace/garden on the roof): Beside cars, Barney is a bit into gardening (on multiple levels!) as well in hopes of catching Bonnie's interest one day: The roof is removable in one piece to access and show how the car fits in. There's a space for Barney's wrench, car brush and vacuum cleaner on the shelves below the window (left side) as well. The garage has working doors on both ends (it is a public secret in Fabuland Barney is not particularly strong while going in reverse): Here's the illustration how the garage door open and close: Garage door closed: Additional photo(s) available at the flickr: http://www.flickr.co...s/93888144@N08/ Please note I am competing with the building, not with the car (it is only slightly pimped up). The car is used here mainly to illustrate how it fits in this custom garage. Thank you for your possible votes, and good luck to all other participants!
