Pierrick Puchois calls his creation a “Personal interpretation of the well-known Venator”, inspired by a 3D rendering that was also sort of a personal interpretation. I think he’s still nailed many of the elements of a true Venator, especially around the bridge, the main turrets, the engines, and the secondary docking bays. The only elements that at first glance really look like they don’t belong are those exposed greebles behind the Open Circle Fleet emblems, and the slightly thicker gap between the dorsal and ventral hulls. While I think that overall gives it the impression of being just barely bulkier than a normal Venator, which I’m not sure I like better, I can’t argue with the really nice detailing in that gap, and really all over the model. Dark Forces was the first first-person shooter that I owned, and it was pretty much the only one that interested me until Battlefront came along, so I’ve always been interested in creations related to the Moldy Crow and its owner, Kyle Katarn. (Who came along early enough that he’s not cliche even though he’s an example of the ‘badass rogue Force-sensitive mercenary’.) Now, in part because the ship was created as 3D model for a 1995 video game, it might appear to be somewhat simple. But look more closely at this MOC by Suboken Project, and notice the SNOT work in the engines, the skillful blending of Technic with System along the underside, and the little details like the printed flags in front of the engine pods and the door pieces that add texture to the top. By the way, you might have noticed that I've posted several of these finds in the past few days. I've been trying to get more quality MOCs to appear both here in the forum and on the blog, so, if you see an MOC that you think is worthy of blogging that hasn't been blogged, please don't hesitate to PM me a link.

I’m not a huge fan of The Phantom Menace, but the movie does have some distinctive locations that were introduced in it, among which is Naboo and it’s capital city. From the arches to the fountains to the textures to the large windows to the coloring to the vines to the tiles that cover every surface for walking on, KW Vauban has captured the look and feel of Naboo’s buildings perfectly in this diorama. The Flash Speeder looks great in dark green, and I love how smoothly all the angled portions are integrated into the buildings in the corner, especially around that tunnel/walkway under the bridge.
