In the far north of Mitgardia there exist a species of ice dragon, they originally helped keep the Algus at bay but the tables have now been turned and they are now being hunted by the Algus.

The brave soldiers from Daydelon pour forth from Veggrfell, lead by the indomitable Jarl Snowy. Sir Glorfindel has ordered him to hold the town at all costs, but the Algus forces are unconcerned by the plain MItgardian steel wielded by most of the town guardsmen. A few of the Daydelon men, Snowy included, carry weapons forged in the dragonfire forges of the Nocturnian Resistance, delivered by Gorrian Ratback Dragon. Still the situation is bleak, and night is falling soon. The Mitgardian defenders: And the Algus attackers: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, my entry for Cat A. I had a right pain with photos, no matter what I did, the lighting sucked. Super grainy pictures result. UK winters aren't the best for photo taking, even going outside didn't help. Anyway, C+C welcome. More photos on my Flickr. Many thanks to SK for the name, and the use of his lands! I owe all the others that replied a build now!

Here's my entry to Category B of the Frozen Beyond contest: The Wild Yxen is typically only found in the northernmost parts of Mitgardia, but the unusual cold of the current winter, has seen many migrating well south of their general habitat. They're known for their bulky, furry build, and while not usually an aggressive animal, their brute strength and sharp tusks can be quite dangerous: C&C welcome, I do have more GoH builds coming within the next month, including one that may be my best build yet

Darn it. As I looked out over the expanse of the ocean, I noticed a ship nearing our shores. I was the lookout for the coast of our little settlement of Skaljarik. It was a terrible post. as I was forced to starve and freeze keeping a lookout. That stupid war cost me everything. I had been assigned to raid the Kaliphlin coast, back when people respected me. But civil war had broken out, and I had lost most of my crew. Upon my return, Jarl Stormbreaker had stripped me of everything. I was barely above scum. May Wulf Stormbreaker die the miserable death he visits upon me. I hated my job, I hated this village, and I was beginning to hate life. Sighing, I started down the path. As I reached the shore, I saw my two friends practicing combat. They claimed to be my friends, once upon a time. But I knew now how hollow those words had been. When Wulf took everything from me, neither of them lifted a finger. No, they were too busy planning pick-nicks and trips to help their dying friend. As I saw the ship keel away from our shores, I wanted to spit on those two. Lydia and Rollo. What pathetic friends. But I just continued on. As the hours wore by, the urge to do something was overcoming me. I wanted to avenge the wrong done, or simply leave before I died. But as night fell, I returned to Wulf's lodge. Because it held the only thing keeping me alive. "Logan," the servant said. "You look like a wreck." "Life will do that to you, Bynjar," I replied. She smiled in return. "Just don't do anything stupid during the night watch," she replied. "And take this." As I took the package, I could feel the warmth within. "You got fresh bread?" "And fish," she replied. "Wulf wasn't hungry this evening." As I took to the night watch, I ate the food Bynjar gave me. It was wonderful. The bread was so warm, it literally melted in the mouth. And the fish was excellent, as usual. That's why I can't leave. I looked out at the sky. The stars were everywhere, and it was very relaxing to look at. I had almost drifted off to sleep when my body sent me a warning. There was a chill in the air. And unnatural chill. The Algus. But that was the question. What was the point? I could let them kill Wulf and his cronies. All my enemies, killed without even knowing what hit them. The thought brought a grim to my mind. But then I stopped cold. Bynjar. Leaping up, I rushed to Jarl Stormbreaker's lodge. I must warn them. We must be prepared for what's coming. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>(Story ends)<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> ^ Furrier ^ Courier ^ Stables ^ Fishery And a final shot of the build. Builder's notes: Well, this took quite a lot of time, but worth it, IMO. I am very pleased with how this turned out. And it's great to be building for GoH again. Also, Happy thanksgiving! Author's notes: As said above, it's great to be back to doing GoH. I've had tons of good excuses, and a few bad ones for being inactive. But I am glad to be writing about the Vikings of Skaljarik once more. For the praise of His glory! ~Andrew Spader

After the encounter with the Algus at the summer smithy, Frode and Stian ride speedily to warn Falkidalr of the approaching threat. Along the way, they pass two farmers with their pigs and alert them as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks for viewing! C&C are much appreciated. This build’s inspiring elements were the two techniques for trees, both for trunks and for foliage placement. They proved to be somewhat challenging, but I was pleased with the results. I will definitely be modifying or abandoning the slope-brick branches, as they are too jagged on the top, but I was quite satisfied with the SNOT plate branch. The deciduous and evergreen trees both are a satisfactory result for me, but they are too parts-intensive to replicate for an entire forest… -Slegengr P.S. Per numerous requests, I am adding a basic tutorial for the olive green small pine trees. The images show the individual components. The basic elements are the olive green foliage pieces and the black bar/clip combination piece in various arrangements. The base is the octagonal bar around the 2x2 studs. Bar clips are attached by the clip and the foliage pieces are slipped over the bar end. To alter the diameter, I simply replaced the octagonal bar with a chain of bar clips, using two rings with 6 bar clips each and three rings with 4 bar clips. By clipping a bar clip to the bar of each bar clip after making the bar clip chain (sorry if this is confusing), a bar end is left sticking out for the attachment of the foliage pieces. The top is completed by sliding a 1x1 black cone (stud down) to secure the rings and a bar clip with foliage piece onto the top of the lance to fill out the top. Due to the clip connection, the size of chain is unlimited and the angles for the foliage are unlimited (or nearly so). The foliage pieces can be rotated on the bar connection to add to the randomness of the organic shape. This technique and variants thereof are likely to show up in my future MOCs. Pictures to clarify explanation:

There's no place like home! Especially when you live in a huge Mitgardian castle, haha! The bed: It's about time I did something in Mitgardia again, I was getting a bit homesick over in AG! I'm planning on also entering it into the Medieval Manor category of CCCXIII, which happened to be an opportune category, as the build had been started a while back. Thanks for looking, C&C are welcome!

(Please note, this is a story focused on two of Aeldric's new rangers, and takes place after Aeldric finds Dar Askelohn and is made captain of the rangers of Albion) Next Chapter: Coming Soon Genic (The Human in the brown hood) and Cathras (The Redhead Elf) had just been recruited by Aeldric and assigned a task to head north to Mitgardia to investigate the potential threat of the Algus. On their way, they passed a small ranger set-up. A small bit of scaffolding was strewn about, most likely for higher positions and better points of view on the roads. Aeldric had issued for several of these camps to be dotted across the roads of Avalonia for the denizen's safety. Aeldric had also begun to recruit many races, other than originally human. From elves, to even dwarves. Though, Aeldric was cautious about which dwarves he recruited, as some of them can be a bit to friendly... Without figs: Back of the scaffolding: --- Anyways, let me know what you think! C & C welcome, and remember, this story takes places after Aeldric has found Dar Askelohn, and is named captain of the rangers of Albion.

A border outpost is one of the first defenses a village can have. High enough to view a large area around the village, the lookouts in the outpost are able to keep an eye on goings-on. If the need arises, a messenger can quickly travel from the outpost to the village to warn the people of danger. Near Falkidalr, an outpost is constructed as a preliminary defense. Built on log stilts, the outpost towers above nearby hills and forests. A thatched roof reinforced with leather-covered decorative shields covers the top to keep out snow and rain. To accommodate the watchmen, a tent is provided for sleeping and a fire with a pot and tripod is provided for cooking food. A fence surrounds the base camp to provide a barrier to the native fauna and flora. Weapons and armor are kept on a rack in case of need. Now, the village of Falkidalr will not be easily surprised by any invading danger. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for viewing! Comments and Constructive Criticism are appreciated. The inspiration for this build came from AoM, but the inspiring ideas were the SNOTed logs and the leaf pieces hanging on the grass stems. The tripod over the fire proved to be challenging, but I liked the results. -Slegengr

My phase 3 for the Gate category of AoM. I hope this is sufficient for the title :D I had fun making this, because I did not plan anything, and just looked how it would turn out. The building has some interiors, but the bad part of not planning, is that I couldn't really make pictures of the inside :P Im quite happy with how it turned out, especially with the stonework. I need to work on the roofing though, yet thanks for the guide SK :P I spent most of my salary on lego this month, but maybe I should go for a suitable camera one time. One way, I feel the money used for a camera could have been spent for bricks, but the pictures will probably improve a lot :) Usually I edit the photos with photoshop, but due to me quitting my studies, I do not have the license to use it anymore. Im starting an IT study this year, so I might get the licenses at discount :D Gatehouse phase 3, AoM by David de Rijke, on Flickr

This is a gatehouse situated on the norther outskirts of Odinshire (Odinshire is what I have decided to name the village Lord Clutchski rules over) and serves as a guarded entrance to the village and first line of defense. Here, we see an archer standing watch and a knight leaving for a routine patrol to find lost travelers, or unwanted guests. sorry about the fuzzy picture that's also an attachment, I have been having some weird problems wit the URL pictures. it says that "you are not allowed to use that image extension in this community." even though I have done the exact same thing before. Weird. https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ag1BfaoqmAZShixnY7M0ej_A2J8l this should work better.

The third module of a large collab build that Isaac and I are building for Brickfair, Virginia. First module, second module. We’ll be posting one new module a week. The harbor-master’s house and tower both have full interiors. The tower is only one half of the gatehouse, which is why the arch has nothing on top of it. The harbor-master’s house sits in the corner of the Nordheim Docks, and all incoming traffic is registered there. The winter lull gives the harbor-master plenty of time to catch up on his records, inside his cozy home. I would like to claim UoP credits for: General Building: Interior Design Lots more pictures on Brickbuilt All C&C much appreciated

Book III is coming to an end, and that means we all will have to make a choice. For some of us, this will be obvious, but for me... I'll show you what I mean: VS CC is very welcome, and please let me know wich one you favour. A special thanks to SK and InnovaLUG for hosting the Summer Joust, in wich I will also enter the vignette category with these two. Thanks for watching, see you next time!

See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga: Chapter 1 -What Has Past- Chapter 2 -What Has Past- Chapter 3 The Green Dragon Inn Bustle at Treacleheim At the Gates of Budd-apest Dragon-Forged Blade in Treacleheim Charlemagne's Residence Wyndor, Charlemagne, and the rest of their party made their way up a trail in the Rakath Mountains. After Charlemagne had come back from Ulandus, he had kept some of their dragons around. He hoped one of them would be willing to help Wyndor. These particular dragons were trained to be comfortable around humans and other humanoids. But they were still dragons and as such could not be made to do anything they didn’t want to do. Thankfully these dragons were pretty clear about whether they liked a person or not and after showing their approval became very loyal. Charlemagne was explaining all of this to Wyndor and Valenice as they came to the dragon grounds. Wyndor spied one particular dragon that just seemed to call to him. He started to approach the beast and immediately the dragon came up to him. There was obviously a connection and Wyndor knew this was just the answer he needed to take on the Algus threat and allow him to return to Mitgardia. He and Valanice climbed onto the dragon’s back. “I imagine we’ll be able to get back home faster than the horse rides it took to get us here” said Valanice. “Yes, hopefully we won’t be too late!” responded Wyndor. Looking down at Charlemagne he asked, “How can we ever repay you?” “Just be ready to return the favor if ever we need it” answered Charlemagne. And with that the dragon began beating his wings and took off to carry his passengers back to Dalig Ulv. As Charlemagne, Hildegard, Morpheus and Balthazar watched them fade into the distance, a huge shadowed loomed up behind them… OoC: Please note that this build was simply put together to help act as pictures for the transition in the story. It's a lot of recycled parts and is very plain. Sometimes I find I need to do that to get over a mental block so I can keep building and telling the parts of the story that come more naturally to me. The dragon was built for the next part of the story that will be coming soon.

Mitgardia5rs_140616 by Gabriel Thomson, on Flickr] Runa Hoskuldottir spoke the words of leaving with care and reverence, asking the gods and the ancestors to bless the journey they were about to embark upon. The man by her side stood silent, but he made the offerings at the right time, as she had instructed him, the coins of passage falling into the sacred bowl in a pattern that promised fair winds. The ritual over, she turned to look at him, smiling. “Well Erland, we shall have no trouble until we reach the mainland at least. A good start.” Erland lifted his careworn face to meet her eyes. “Perhaps I am the trouble on the road. I know your father doesn’t approve of our betrothal, and how can I blame him? He knows next to nothing of me, and I cannot remember enough to quell his fears. Perhaps Sigurd was right and they should have left me to be claimed by the waves, at least that way your family would not be deprived of you in this hour!” Runa snorted impatience. It was one of the things he loved about her, how little patience she had for his doubt and self-pity. “Don’t talk nonsense, betrothed. Do you think I could remain deceived about your true nature after months of nursing you back to health? You are a good man, I know it, and when we find your family, you will know it again too. As for Sigurd and Bjarke, they are superstitious fools to think that you are ill-omened just because they lost their best fishhook the day they found you floating in the wreckage of that ship. The gods are not responsible for their carelessness!” Erland smiled. “Well, perhaps it shall be as you say. But we certainly won’t have fair winds to the mainland unless we move soon, no matter what the gods say. Is Olaf ready to go?” Runa reached down to stroke the stocky grey cat at her feet. “Come then Olaf! I have packed a snack for you on the boat.” He miowed in response and trotted down the steps toward the jetty, with the couple following close behind him. To be continued… So i hope this will become a bit of a multi-build storyline... it started mainly cause i realised just how little of Historica i'd built in, and i wanted a reason to roam about a bit. I'd never built in Mitgardia before now either, so i just had to kick things off there. But i do want to build more in Peregrinus as well (which has been woefully neglected by me), so the story might become slow going! So here is the first of some incoming builds. I wanted to create a wooden wall without pallisade bricks, I think I succeeded. (Quite partsconsuming though :) ) This was the first time I ever touched those 3-leave plants, I just ordered them and never had them before, so I had to try how to work with them. (apparently they are much more flexible than I imagined) The trumpet is gonna pop up a lot, I play it myself so I love that brick. It is also my first real shot on an irregular base, I think it turned out fine, but it could have been much smoother. I actually want to create my own settlement, im working on a story for it right now, this will be included too. (I know, the 4 categories for a hamlet all need to be fullfilled, lots of work to do :D) Wall0-2 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-1 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-3 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-4 by David de Rijke, on Flickr Wall0-5 by David de Rijke, on Flickr (and this is where I use yellow rounds for)

I realized it is 1st of may today. Do not expect too much here, this is an older build collab with my 10y/o brother, I tried some building techniques here (walls that are a half stud deeper, orange wall/ 'toilet') and was left with too little time and bricks to finish it, But I brought my minifigs and prepared this castle for a quick story before the due date :D I just agreed at the homefront that I'll need a better camera and that I will make a lego studio somewhere. My next build will be small and detailed instead of big and too little bricks:) I tried to edit these pictures but I fail with photoshop :) So, enough self-negativity and I hope you like the story progressing :D Oh by the way, I finally purchased some flags in the ríght colors (green/yellow), so now I can show my own allegiance as well. Part one Swearing Allegiance Bull's Eye Fortress After the arrival of the strangers, it was done with the quiet in the Bull's Eye. 'My king, the men are not happy with your decision. They don't trust these strangers, and some are preaching to revolt.' With these words Davok disturbed Ryban in his private room. Ryban stood there, gazing to his weapons hanging on the wall, where first the picture of his wife shined, before she disappeared. They looked outside, and indeed, it seemed like the assembled men grew angry. Some abused the fact they had to muster to speak to all the Bulls at once. Then, suddenly, the guards all blew their trumpets. A band of warriors was sighted, heading to the fortress. They carried Kaliphlin banners. The envoy from Nocturnus saw them, and they headed to the gate, shouting that these men came for them, and thus they would deal with them. While his guard prepared his axe, the envoy seemed like he was channeling something. Flames seemed to grew from his hands, and from the inside of the walls sounded yells, both terrifying and enthousiastic shouts. Then he put his hands together, and a beam of flames was aimed towards the attackers, creating a fiery zone before their feet. None of them was burned, nonetheless. They turned around and started to run, apparently it was not that good an idea to invade this fortress. Loud cheers sounded from the battlements, as the Bulls saw they could trust these strangers. Davok realized that all of the invaders had seemed quite northern, none of them had a tan colored skin. Also, the envoy said he knew the attackers even before he could see in that direction. Something seemed wrong here, somehow he had the idea there was something going on... Post was too large, More pictures:

In the south of Mitgardia lays a small castle called Sudheim Keep. It's design is based on Nordheim Keep, but altough it's brother is build for, Sudheim Keep is build for peace. It is there, that Drondil signs a pact with three of the mightiest powers of Mitgardia, and even Historica. Tonight, Daydelon, Thorshaven and Drondil sign a pact to change Historica's history! Again, inspired by Soccerkid6 (I know, it's kinda becoming a habit. I should probably put it in my signature ). It's based on one of his older castles, while the name refers to the best castle ever build. These angled roofs were a real pain in the megablocks, but I hope you like it! CC very appreciated!

The Bay of Seals. An inhospitable body of water even in the midst of summer. In the early weeks of spring, it is a positively murderous expanse of icy blue. It was not a particularly inviting place to come ashore, but it was not dusk of the second day since the Blanchefleur had foundered east of the Bay of Seals. The wind had driven hard from the north, and rather than fight against it to reach the mouth of the Bearclaw River and the port of Nordheim, the castaway had rowed south, coming ashore in an inlet on the east bank of Gronnfjord, the westernmost tributary of the Bay. The ground was hard rock - sheltered for the most part from the weather by the steep sides of the fjord, there was little sand on the beach, merely a rugged slope of gray stone, broken somewhat by small plants, and no doubt exposed by whatever cataclysm had cut the Gronnfjord into the into the land. A chilly, damp wind, bearing with it an icy tinge of the bay, swept up as the lone, weary traveler laid the oars on the rowing bench and climbed stiffly out onto dry land. He lifted a wooden staff from the bottom of the boat. It was taller than he, completely smooth and straight save for a large knot at one end. He settled the staff in his left elbow as he pulled his cloak tighter around himself and pulled down his weather-beaten hat. He reached back under the cloak and checked the position of several items strapped to his back, then stood erect and looked around him. The failing light of the sun revealed a path, not perhaps comfortable but at least safe, winding its way up the side of the fjord. Gripping the staff in his gloved right hand, the traveler climbed the beach, leaving the rowboat hanging by a few rocks under its keel. The first good rain or strong wind would dislodge it, but the traveler did not care. Where he was going now, he would have no need for this rowboat. Many long leagues lay between him and his destination, and doubtless many perils and adventures. The fate of one small Avalonian rowboat mattered little to him. At long last, he returned to his homeland, Mitgardia, but for how long and to what end remained to be seen.

An improved version of my ice dragon model from December last year. This one is stronger, using mixed joints and the wings are further forward. In my opinion it look a lot better then the original one, which can be seen here- https://www.flickr.c...ve/23381215452/ . This was part of my display for the Sydney Brick Show (16th & 17th of April).

So I finally made an AoM entry :P (I have around 10 builds in LDD though, yet I only want to submit real ones :P) Neymara and her brother Marik love brewing beer. One day, some friends told them to sell it on the road, as they thought it was very good. They set up a stand along a mayor road, over which many Mitgardian patrol units passed. And who is a better customer than a thirsty warrior? They sell so much these days, that Marik is continuously getting more with his ox, Byrt. I wanted to try multiple things in this build, it is basically the first time I made trans-clear water, I made everything tiled off, including the rocks that are far more detailed than I'm used to, also the construction of the stand, the autumn tree, and the road. I wondered if anyone has ever built a road this way, I pretty much like it myself! (these are 92 1x2 slopes). The tree was hell, I can't touch it: most of the leaves are not connected to anything. Also I think the dragon knights of Kingdoms are the perfect Midgardian soldiers: two shades of green on the torso, and two shades of yellow on the shield. I am happy with this build for it is by far my best detailed build ever, yet I can improve so much more. So please critizise and say what you would have done different (the light bley 1x1 tiles are a mistake on bricklink, should have been dark XD)

In the farthest corner of Nocturnus, in a desolate, barren clump of rocks, a wooden tower stretched just over the horizon, visible to all near and far, but seemingly impassable. Two Drow soldiers stood guard at the base of this structure - well, not exactly stood guard! They lay slumped against the rocks, bottles clutched in their hands, drunken and tired. When Berelan Gryffen, lord of the Mitgardian county of Stormhold, opened his eyes, he didn't know where he was. His last memory was of a far-away Avalonian outpost, of a fierce battle between the Drow and the local soldiers. Now he was lying on a bare, earthy floor, his clothes in tatters and chains around his hands. Weakly, he struggled into a sitting position... and then he realised he wasn't alone in the cell... A Tigris, by the looks of it - part human, part feline in appearance, with a mane of black hair and its teeth bared in a grimace. As Berelan raised his head, the creature's eyes narrowed, "So you're finally awake. Been waiting two weeks for this..." Berelan managed to gasp, "I mean you no harm..." but was met with a harsh, gravelly laugh from the Tigris, "I'm not going to hurt you, ekshalar. You'd better thank me, because I could've escaped two weeks ago, when I broke the clasp on my chains. But I couldn't leave you here- those vhhskarn would have made you suffer for my escape. Who are you, and where are you from?" Somewhat relieved but still wary, Berelan replied, "I'm from Mitgardia... my name's Berelan. You?" Without replying, the Tigris moved over to Berelan's chains and yanked them out of the wall with a contemptuously little amount of force, "Them Black Spire vhhskarn don't know what they're in for. I'll bet they've never even seen a Tigris before. Name's Tskerr, by the way. I'm with the Nocturnus Resistance. Now let's get a move on - I'm sick of this place!" Drunkenly, one of the Drow guards rose to check on the prisoners. They'd been paid a lot by a cloaked stranger calling himself Xaris to do this, and they'd spent the money on fine Nocturnian liquor. This turned out to be his undoing. As the guard stumbled along the path, he noticed a blurry, reddish-brown shape leaping from rock to rock, a length of chains swinging from its hand... Tskerr suddenly leapt at the guard, crushing him to the ground with brute strength. Berelan, emerging from behind a rock, saw the second guard draw his sword and advance on the oblivious Tigris... ...so he grabbed a conveniently nearby scorpion and threw it at the Drow! Pleased with their handiwork, the two escapees proceeded to don the guards' clothes, passing as Black Spire enforcers to all who met them. Time was of the essence - the resistance was growing and soon things would come to a brutal and bloody head.... [sorry for the lengthy story; C&C welcome!]

With all the villagers trained in basic sparring, Crynis moved on to the next step: training with real weapons. Each man or woman chose their preferred weapon from a pile amassed by the mercenaries Crynis had hired. Ragnor, the mercenaries' leader, personally oversaw each mock duel and gave the villagers important tips which would most probably one day save their lives. Now Crynis and Ragnor looked on as two such villagers began their first trial by combat. Truff the woodcutter, armed with a shortsword, and the fisherman Larne, wielding the spear he used to ply his trade. The two combatants circled each other, looking for weaknesses in the other's defense... Suddenly, Truff lunged without warning, striking at Larne's unprotected side with his sword. But the fisherman, instead of blocking the blow, leaned backwards, evading the woodcutter's strike. Truff, off balance, lost his footing and stumbled just as Larne brought the spear down on his back. He crumpled to the ground, defeated. As the victor helped his opponent to his feet, Ragnor approached the pair. Nodding gruffly to Larne, he addressed the woodcutter: "You're strong, and fast too, but you shouldn't rush into attacks. Be wary of your opponent's moves. And Larne, your trick worked this time, but you'll need to perfect it for it to work in real combat. Well done, both of you." Crynis watched, feeling a sense of pride. Her fervent dream was slowly but surely becoming a reality... Figless: C&C welcome!
