  1. Here is my completed MOC of the Toronto Hudson's Bay Christmas windows that I have part of in the Winter Village display. You can read about them if you go to that post. 2. MOC: Bob's Burgers Restaurant I was challenged to build the restaurant from the TV show. It's been an excellent adventure into the deepest parts of teh interweb as I tried to grab as much source material as possible. Some of it was contradictory - indeed I found three different roof lines used in various episodes (I finally settled on the most frequently used one). Credit to Terry Akuna for the awesome graphics http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100010629990106&fref=ts I still need to build the interior but I've already started constructing Mort's "It's your funeral" building next door. Comments, criticism and ridicule most welcome! #Beefsquatch

Hi my friend! Here i show you my new modular. The idea came from a building i saw in Rhodes when i was there this summer. 4. G'day everyone, I started working on my new city layout a couple of days ago so the attached photo's are the WIP so far. I just need a few more straight pieces to finish the sidings and also a quite a few base plates to cover the boards. I also need a name for my city so feel free to drop some suggestions! Looking down to the left side of the town - there is a cargo terminal on the left, fairground in the middle and farming on the right. Behind the fairground will be a mountain region. To the bottom of the photo will be a recycling depot and fueling depot. We then move into Main Stree - there is a space between the PR and the FB for the DO which I'm getting for Christmas. To the right of the station will be a bus terminal. Right hand side of Main Street - bus terminal and general business etc. Right hand side of the layout - Beach and houses to the far left, Emerald Night workshop on the right. Can you spot the Foreman sleeping on the job? She wasn't very helpful! So there you go - lots of base plates required - might throw in a mountain and maybe a tunnel in somewhere so I can build on top - I have the Mine set and Harbour set to build up as well!! Plus I need to find room for a baseball field!! Arhhhh lots to do lots to do!! Thanks for looking and don't forgot your City name suggestions!
  5. Hi guys, this is actually my first conversion of a City set-to-modular. I hope you like it! Here is the front side: http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=6325898 (I'm sorry if it doesn't appear embedded, this is my first time). It's an alleyway!: http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=6325902 Thanks for seeing the photos. I really hope you guys like it. Well, now off to finishing modularizing the 60026 pizzeria and bike shop!
  6. MOC: Chinatown Residential Buildings As soon as I saw the Sand Green Elves Fences I knew I had to use them in a building for Chinatown. I wanted some place that looked ram-shackled and lived in, but that also had a sense that Hipsters had started to infiltrate and renovate the area. So I ended up with one side of the building looking a bit seedy and rundown with washing hanging from one of the balcony's. And the other side with the original ground floor (complete with window AC) and a hipster-gentrified upper floor. The rear of the building is somewhat plain and unassuming. Hope you like it. As usual comments, criticism and ridicule most welcome.
  7. It was a dark and stormy night... What could be more perfect for Halloween. The Collectible Minifigure Monsters need a home. Enter their haunted house, a four level structure (with elements inspired by the Scooby Doo Mystery Mansion) that fits with other modular builds on a 32x32 base plate. The floor can be removed and two panels on either side of the two fireplaces are hinged to allow easier access to the interior. hhback by Karen Metz, on Flickr hh2 by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhside2 by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhside1 by Karen Metz, on Flickr More to follow. GOINGS ON IN THE HAUNTED HOUSE The Monster Scientist is hard at work creating new creatures à la “Island of Dr. Moreau” in his subterranean lab. In the processing chamber is his latest creation, the Fly Monster. The Tiger Woman, one of the scientist’s first endeavors, is overseeing the transformation. Meanwhile, the giant Hagrid assists the Monster Rocker by touching up the creature’s green complexion. The lab opens to a large greenhouse where Seymore, an extra large venus flytrap with an appetite for more than bugs, and his best friends from the “Little Shop of Horrors” including the Plant Monster await unsuspecting guests. Square Foot is outside ready to harvest the latest crop of pumpkins that are guarded not too successfully by the Scarecrow. hhgreenhouse by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhlab2 by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhlab1 by Karen Metz, on Flickr The Zombie Pirate captain, sword at the ready, greats trick or treaters at the main entrance to the house. Three halloween revelers, a costumed Hippie dad and his two children dressed as the Skeleton Guy and an unconvincing witch, anxiously descend the steep stairs from the house happy to escape with their lives. The iconic stretching paintings from Disney’s Haunted Mansion grace either wall of the main hall behind the captain. A chesterfield facing an old grandfather clock make a cozy “unliving” room. The captain’s zombie pals, the Cheerleader and Businessman, relax at the kitchen table and discuss news items the latest edition of the Zombie Times. They appear not to be interested in their brain sandwich at the moment. Also in the kitchen is the Wacky Witch who is brewing an unappetizing potion simmering in a cauldron in the kitchen’s fireplace. To the right of the main entrance is the music room and library. The Spider Lady is about to sit down a play her favorite music piece “This is Halloween” on the piano or perhaps she may change her mind and decide to sit by the second fireplace and read a horror novel from the library. hhmainfloor by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhkitchen by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhlivingroom by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhpiano by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhzombies by Karen Metz, on Flickr Going up either set of spiral staircases leads to the main bedroom of the haunted house. Wednesday, aka the Spooky Girl, carrying her favorite teddy bear enters the main bedroom which contains a bed where the witches cat has decided to take a nap, a dresser, lamp, and old style radio. Her father, The Count, is resting in his coffin off to the side. To the rear of the bedroom is a closed door that opens onto a bloody bathroom scene (inspired by B Rick’s Horror bathroom). The evil side of Mr. Good and Evil has truly come out on this haunted eve. A poor unsuspecting trick or treater has been exsanguinated in the bathtub by Mr. Evil and reawakens to the horror of his new undead state. On either size of the bedroom and bathroom are storage rooms. The storage room on the right can be entered through the picture of the Fat Lady. A lonely spirit ghost stares longingly at all that remains of his earthly self, that being his skull which watches over the room since the valuables of the house are stored in the safe and chest located here. The Wolf Guy, in his wolf man state rather than his more unassuming guise as the Lumberjack, stares out the front dormer window salivating over the easy pickings of trick or treaters on the streets below. If only he weren’t trapped in this room with the sleeping vampire guarding the exit. hhbedroom by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhbedroom2 by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhbathroom1 by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhchimney by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhopenside1 by Karen Metz, on Flickr hhopenside2 by Karen Metz, on Flickr On the rooftop level, the ominous figure of the Specter watches the scene below. A naughty Monster is locked in one of the attic spaces. Over looking the rear of the house the Banshee wails for her long lost love as the Gargoyle enjoys spinning around as the hours pass. A owl peers at the black decorative owls that adorn the roof line. hhroof by Karen Metz, on Flickr Hope you enjoy my haunted house.
  8. Having had to pack away my Lego collection because of the birth of my first child I now primarily build using LDD. A great program but you can get carried away easily and build things using rare bricks in non available colours. I decided to challenge myself to build something 'realistic'. By realistic I mean a reasonable number of pieces, a solid construction (no one-stud-connection for heavy constructions) and a minimum usage of parts in a non-available colour. Because I used to build modulars before packing away the collection, I ended up starting a digital one as well. Inspired by the Dr. McScrubs minifigure I decided to start work on a hospital. Now, I wanted to build the kind of old hospital which you find in a lot op European city centres: former houses for the old, the poor and sickbays run mostly by the church. Nowadays I lot of these buildings have fallen in to other uses, but why not build a functional out of LEGO? Update time: Having almost lost all progress due to a corrupt save file if not for a member of the Eurobricks forum I recently had the chance to continue work on the clinic. Although I am not really happy with the part above the gate I focused primarily on the third floor. I am reasonably happy with the smaller windows but not so much with the big one. In terms of interior (which doesn't let itself well for rendering) there is now a pharmacy and reception on the first floor and a psychologists office and staff room on the third floor. Picture time: Feedback appreciated! UPDATE 11/9 Spend some more time. After having build a majestic staircase I realised this messed up the floor plan of the upper floor to much, so I settled for a elevator at the rear of the building. Some more pics: Feedback again greatly appreciated. September 6th After some two hours in LDD, this is what I've come up with. Feedback is greatly appreciated. The next step will be planning the stairs and/or the elevator.
  9. I'd like to point out that the response from everyone regarding the 'teaser' was quite overwhelming. I just hope this MOC lives up to everyone's exceptions considering the fan base I've generated from this single project alone. I cannot wait to finally share the results with you guys after working on this concept for three years with breaks in-between. It's the biggest MOC I've ever created with over 3,500 pieces! 10. Dear friends! I'm glad to present you my modular building project. My project includes the casino building and little abandoned building. Unfortunately I can't upload to this topic more than one image. I can't understand why. So I suggest you look at the other images on the page of the project on the lego ideas website. More photos you can see there: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/145201 But don't forget to click support!;) Enjoy!
  11. I have some difficulties in placing this topic in correct section. Should it be Trains? On the other hand it is supposed to work in a modular town, that's why I put it in Town. This is my biggest creation so far. Actually those are two modulars designed to be placed together on a display. The depth is 48 studs instead of regular 32 because of tracks and platform. I decided it was unrealistic to stick to 32 and still have decent building. Anyway, on with presentation :) What I hope is apparent from the picture above is that I incorporated some lights into these structures. The old 9V battery box is in the warehouse and gives power to all six pairs of lights (2x 9V in warehouse and 4x PF in station). There is also old style 9V switch that controls turning lights on and off without the need to reach for the battery box (black switch on the side of the warehouse). Before I show you the warehouse let's have a look at the platform: The warehouse: This is how the electric parts are distributed in the warehouse. You can also see the inside with some pallets and a cupboard for employees. Now, let's have a look at the station building: First - the roof. This is where I put all the lights that go with the station. This is how it looks like from the underside: That's 4 pairs of PF lights, one PF extension cable and one 9V cable to provide easy to disconnect outlet. The station itself has some nice flowers on the front, benches for passengers, some roof over the platform and a phone booth. That's what you could already see from the outside. So let's have a look inside :) There is a bit o a stir at the moment because of some careless passenger. Don't worry - this is being cleaned as we speak :) Looking from the front of the station you have confectionery that sells ice cream too and on the right your typical railway station fast food stand (with microwave in case your yesterday pizza is cold! :D) Looking from the platform side on the left there are some tables belonging to the restaurant, ticket booth and some waiting area. On the right there is an obligatory public toilet :), two gaming machines and luggage deposit lockers. If you wonder how it looks in town - its natural environment - here are just a couple of pictures: Full gallery is available as always on my Bricksafe: http://bricksafe.com...-with-warehouse
  12. Purple Pharmacist by Duncan Adkins, on Flickr What makes something a 'dark ages'? Is it just any time you take away from the hobby, or is it something that's up to the interpretation of the MOCer? Regardless, it seems like it's one of those things where you know it when you see it. And with that overwrought musing over, I'd like to jump back into this great old hobby headfirst with this MOC here, the Purple Pharmacist! Purple Pharmacist Sketch by Duncan Adkins, on Flickr Designed in the vein of the official modular buildings, and with a careful adherence to not go crazy with the unlimited pieces and unlimited space offered by LDD, this is a 2553 piece homage to the official sets. My process for designing started with a nascent idea that I wanted to try out some of the new purple pieces in the Friends sets- particularly Lavender. However, I found out that it is very limited in the number of pieces it comes in when those pieces are to be applied to a modular, and I thought that Medium Lilac meshed much better with the nougat of the brick bricks that I ended up wanting to use. Plus there are 1x2x3 windows in medium lilac/purple! With the simple idea that I wanted to use purple in mind, I delved into books, sketch paper, and Google image searches in order to put together a mood board of what types of architecture I'd like to pull from, as well as what colors I'd want to use. Then I came upon this: This italianate building in Cincinnati, Ohio's Over-the-Rhine district was almost exactly what I was imagining I wanted my building to look like. With all that in mind and planning finished, I built! Some of the trends from the modular buildings I took into account with my build were liberal use of striping, a primarily grey first floor facade, unique but meaningful color blocking, and a façade that is intricate in design, but not 'busy'. The ivy on the front was one big part of the 'intricate but not busy' paradigm- it added a lot of interest to the front and differentiated the top and middle floors, while not looking out of place and not clashing with the rest of the build. Purple Pharmacist by Duncan Adkins, on Flickr Outside of the façade I took some liberties though! I wanted to include a pergola in a build ever since seeing woooootles' Wasabi District Avenue Residences, so I did! Outside of that, the rear was mostly bland, as there will likely be little attention paid to it if this ever gets built. ;P Purple Pharmacist Rear by Duncan Adkins, on Flickr Purple Pharmacist roof by Duncan Adkins, on Flickr The way I designed the building posed a problem though- since I designed the façade before building out the rest of the building, all the way to the top, I had a design that I liked a lot, but it severely limited my options when adding the breakapart functionality of a classic modular building. It wasn't too bad between the ground floor and middle floor, or middle floor and top floor, but the relatively complicated and fragile structure of the cornice would have prevented adding in another plate layer. So I had to get creative- instead of popping off, the roof slides out! The rear wall and two outcroppings with tiles at the front hold the roof plates up, while the chimney actually serves as a 'clip' to hold the entire superstructure on! It works out perfectly, since the roof can be built entirely out of 4x10 dark grey plates. Purple Pharmacist Interior by Duncan Adkins, on Flickr Since I was trying to stay true to a limited part count for this one, only the first floor has a completed interior- but it's a fully stocked pharmacy with multiple shelves, a scale, a fancy curved desk for the pharmacist, and newspaper rack to sell people on while they wait for their prescription! On the residential side of the stairs, there is a bike rack and a hat rack, as well as the door out to the back patio. Unfortunately, it will be some time before this MOC has a chance of seeing the light of day. The 1x4/2x4 medium lilac slopes that are integral to the gable do not exist in any usable variety, and so construction is going to be held off until that piece...exists. Which is why I posted it here as only renders and screenshots instead of glorious full color photographs. In the mean time, you can look forward to my Police Headquarters MOC, which will be posted and explained in detail as soon as it's built! Constructive criticism welcome; it's good to be back!
  13. Hi all Just getting into MOC modulars, and have got the basic structure of the first 3 floors of a coffee shop/ bookshop, slightly inspired by a place I found in Bern. That one was inside a small covered area which used to be a backstreet. My MOC is a main road affair, and I'm looking to make a sign at the front somehow, with a model of a coffee cup, (Quite easy i think, and then the words "& a Book" next to it. I'm quite restricted on pieces. Does anyone have any ideas how to create letters. I've tried to use the same technique as that used in Al's barber shop, but the letters are often spaced too far apart. Any ideas or places to point me? I will get round to posting a thread for my MOCs on here at some points.
  14. Hi all Just got into the whole modular building idea after purchasing a couple of the predesigned models, Cinema, and Detectives office. I've had a bash a MOCing using the very limited parts I have to join them. I was just wondering if there has been much interest in creating B models and instructions, from the parts in the modular sets, which retain the modular rules?

  16. I'm currently working on a Modular Hospital MOC in LDD. These are the results so far (rendered using BlueRender): Birds perspective: Front view: Inside view: About the model: The lower right wing will be a garage for an ambulance (hence the barrier on the sidewalk). On the opposite side, lower left, there is a gift shop with flowers, balloons and a teddy bear. Across the gift shop will be room for an elevator. At the main entrance (those are sliding doors) there is a reception/desk. The second floor contains a room with two hospital beds (one currently containing a patient). In the other wing an operation room is situated along with minifigs of a surgeon and a patient. The rest of the second floor I don't have planned yet! I'd like to hear your thoughts and comments Also, first post here! YAY!
  17. As I admitted in my "5 Modular Building MOCs" post, I am not very good at original ideas. For this MOC, I was influenced by cimddwc's awesome Emerald House. Typically, my designs are based on convenience. In other words, what can I build without having to Bricklink. I started by trying to replicate the Emerald House, but didn't have enough dark green. Also, I didn't have enough of either white or tan windows so I made the second and third floors different colors. From there, I took some other liberties. Floors are removable but no interiors......possibly I will get to it someday. As always, I welcome positive feedback as well as constructive criticism. aDSC01130 - Copy by Brick Extreme, on Flickr aDSC01113 - Copy by Brick Extreme, on Flickr bDSC01126 - Copy by Brick Extreme, on Flickr aDSC01125 - Copy by Brick Extreme, on Flickr
  18. The New Century Corner, a display of five modular houses inspired by early 1900s architecture which I love. This was built for a LUG collaborative modular town in Model Expo 2016 that took place couple of weeks ago. From left to right: House of Two Whistling Geezers, House of Two Sisters, House of the Bat-Lord and Three Sinners, The House of Secret Society of Aviation, The House of Golden Frogs. The houses were built by first tablescrapping some interesting bits and the creating the rest of the building around them. That's what I usually do, anyway. The first of the houses (Two Sisters) was built in last November and the last (Bat-lord and sinners) was finished couple of week before the event. I might expand this to a whole block in the future, with four corner modulars and several houses between them. More pictures and talk on the blog.
  19. MOC: Tattoo Shop, Dive Bar and Skeevy Nightclub My town continues it's economic collapse, but there's still businesses thriving. There's always an opportunity for Tattoo shops, Bars where you can get a bad beer and/or a fight and a dodgy nightclub called Echo's where the music is bad and the drinks are worse than the Bar. Anyway, here's my version. There's a vandalised Bike chained to the broken Traffic light. And a semi-hidden deck above the Bar. Echo's - the dodgy Nighclub. There's a bleary eyed clubber standing outside with make-up applied by Fat Bob from The Cure. And on the roof of Echo's there's a Pigeon Loft and some unfortunate person has the job of cleaning up. There's no plans for any interiors. Thanks for reading. Comments, criticism and ridicule most welcome. More nonsense on Flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/eurotrash48903/
  20. 20% OFF - The famous Grand Hotel Ocean View has re-opened this weekend after a major renovation. Lots of people from all over the world are already shuffling in taking advantage of the nice re-opening deal. Front side of the hotel. Back side of the hotel. The seasoned reception chef Mr. Smith is quite unimpressed by little queues and special request of all sorts. He's heard it all before. The first guest have found their way up to the roof top and are enjoying a sunbath - astonishing as I forgot the stairs. Some more impressions of scenes @ the hotel. For convenience the hotel is right side by side with Palace Cinema and Brick Bank. On hotel booking pages the chambers with showers and king-size beds on belle etage are highlighted. Here is the overview of the elements of the modular build. . More details and pics can be found on Flickr. C&C welcome.
  21. Dear friends! Welcome to the fabulous "The Fortune" casino. This construction set includes two separate buildings: - The building of "The Fortune" casino. - A small abandoned building of the slot-machines club "777" “777” was a popular place for fans to play on the slot machines. But when “The Fortune” opened nearby, “777”club went bankrupt. “777” building is on sale now. The casino building. On the ground floor there is a small French café. There you can take a coffee and freshly baked pastries. On the ground floor of the casino there are: Table for playing Blackjack, two slot machines, cashier, security room and money vault. On the second floor of the casino there are: Office of the General Manager of the casino, tables for playing craps and roulette. In an abandoned “777” building someone attacker has dismantled part of the wall of the “777” building and is going to get into the casino’s money vault. He has all the necessary tools and equipment that he need. Part of the wall of the store is fixed with a rod. If you pull the air conditioner in the backyard, you can pull part of the wall of the vault using a winch. Then the attacker will have access to the vault. If you like this project, please support my project on lego ideas site: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/135415
  22. And... done. Finally finished the hospital and that is all I will upgrade for now, next step is the interiors and modding the green grocer to be playable from the back... which I will leave myself some time for. So for those that came late here is a link to the police station: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=122523 And fire station http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=122627 So one more time... here was the problem: Which is the odd one out? :) So here was the plan: And here the results another: And one more: And now from the back... here I have to say I did nothing with the interior yet, almost totally out of usable bricks at this stage... something for my next project... also you will note I stuffed up my colour order of the floor tiles... such is life, something for next time. So now that I am done, what do they all look like together? And another: And one from a lower perspective: And there you go... that will be it for a while as I do some other things but it was a lot of fun and I think the results are respectable. Got to love lego. Biz
  23. Hello All, So I have gotten back into Lego thanks to the gorgeous modular buildings and have found an issue regarding my older town sets not exactly..., fitting in? So I thought... time for an upgrade. So here we see the issue at hand: Not very consistent for my tastes at least. So here was the plan: And here are the results: Another: Another: And one from the back... now I still have to do the interior and I like the back-open style play so kept that (I will mod my modulars to be back-open play as well) Also need to reinforce one of the floor elements... but the idea is there. Well there you go.
