  1. A few days ago I bought this set in an online lot of used Star Wars sets. I've been wanting to buy it for a few years, and now I did. Does it live up to expectations? Let's find out! General info Set name: Jedi Starfighter Set number: 7143 Year of release: 2002 Retail price: $20 Pieces: 139 Minifigures: 1.5 Instructions I start with the instructions, as I bought it without box. Front A rather peacefull setting, compared to today's covers. Just the fighter, flying through the asteroid field of Geonosis. No lasers or explosions. Back Yoda, searching the Lego website for news. Much better than the current screaming kid. Random page Clear, easy to follow instructions. I love the stary/computerish background Pieces All 139 pieces, sorted by collor (I appologise for the rather unseeable black). Not too many pieces, mostly white with grays, black and red and some lime green and odd colours. Printed pieces Yes, you heard me right. All of these pieces are printed! Not a single sticker. The good old days. Minifigs Obi-Wan Kenobi This is one of the two sets that has Episode 2 Obi-Wan (not counting next years Gunship). He has long, orangy hair, dito beard and the back then standard Jedi robes. He has a chrome lightsaber and a pair of binoculars. Back Obi doesn't have back printing, or a cape. face closeup His face is exclusive to the set, as in Bounty Hunter Pursuit he didn't have a headset. It's gold with black and gets partially coverd by his hair. R4-P17 The other 'figure' included in this set is the head of R4-P17. It reuses R5-D4's head from the Y-Wing. I don't think lego did good here. R4 is supposed to be dark red with grey accents, not white with red. Build It's not a verry long build, 15 minutes at most. It's 22 steps long It's not verry repetitive exept for the wings. It doesn't use a lot of exiting techniques. 4 Steps Just the bottom plate with some landing gear 8 Steps The bottom is nearlu complete and work is starting on the cockpit. 12 Steps Wing connection point is added, main body done. 14 Steps Wings have been added, finally taking shape. 16 Steps Front has been added. 20 Steps Almost done, just the flag piece and the cockpit piece. 22 Steps The completed set in all it's glory. It looks pretty good. Completed set Front The front of the ship looks good, resembles the real one pretty well Left side You can see the buetifull printed pieces here. Sadly, there's a gap between the cockpit and the ship. Back You can see the engines from this shot. theyre made up of old stule wheels and attatched to the landing gear. Right Mirror immage from the left, except for the republic symbol being replaced by R4. Top A nice triangular shape, the wedge plates line up well. Bottom Verry bare except for the landing gear. Not much to say Playability You can open up the cockpit to fit a minifig inside. Plenty of room in there. Behind the 'seat', there's a spot to place your lightsaber and binoculars. Say hi, Obi-Wan! Ready to face of against Jango's Slave 1 (if only I had one ). You can also fold the landing gear up for swooshing.Sadly, they are a bit wobly and are likely to bend when you place the figure or the cockpit piece on the ship. The engines fold along. Up Down My thoughts Design 8/10: it has a few gaps and wobly landing gear, but overall an accurate portrail of the ship. Build 7/10: it's nothing really new and a little short, but fun. Parts 8/10: a nice array of parts, nothing special, but the fact that everything's printed makes up for that. Price 6/10: the price is quite steep for not a lot of pieces and only one minifig, but they had to print everything, so they get poits for that Minifigs 9/10: what more could you want? You at least get all the necesearry figs. Only drawback is the inaccurate R4-P17 Swooshability 10/10: nothing really falls of, so if you buy Jango's Slave 1, you can have a nice battle overall: 8/10. It's a nice little set with a nice minifigure. I recomend it to anyone who is a fan of Jedi Starfighters or the Republic Fleet or just Ep 2 C&C appreciated. As a parting shot, a picture of this with the Delta 7-B's I have.
