  1. Hello All, I have exhibited at Legoworld in the Netherlands this year with a landscape based on the first pirates series. The landscape is 7 meters long and 1.25 wide. I created this landscape with my brother and it took ,roughly said, 5 months to built. We wanted a bigger landscape, but we did not have that many blue baseplates. The landscape contains a small town with a wall around it. There is a small harbor and a bit of countryside. Behind the wall is a big sea with several Islands of the Imperial soldier. There is one big island with Islanders. The island contains a volcano, several waterfalls and cottages of the Islanders. Across the sea is a fortress of the Imperial Armada. In the end corners of the landscape are several pirate hideouts and a city of gold (Eldorado?). Here is the link to the pictures. http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=560054 Questions and comments/feedback are welcome. Sincerely, Sander
  2. This MOC was a commissioned model builld. My client gave me the general layout, and some specific details to include, and then let me go from there. It’s 64×64 plus the two stud border, and is modular, allowing each 32×32 module to be easily removed, and also allowing for easy additions in the future. All the building’s doors/trapdoors are functional, the two cranes work, and the prison cell has a break-away wall. Total piece count, excluding figs and accessories (all the dock cargo) was 5696 parts, making it my largest MOC in the Pirate theme so far. See lots more pictures on my website: http://www.brickbuilt.org/?p=3813 Feedback welcome
  3. The Trifork, located at the junction of several busy waterways, has long prospered from the trade of goods flowing up and down the rivers. One of the first stone structures to be raised, the main quay has long allowed ships of all sizes to dock and exchange goods and passengers. (HSS Nautical: Harbourmasters office and lighthouse & HSS Labourer: Warehouse) All harbour administration, as well as collection of tolls and dues, is handled by the harbourmaster. The stately sandstone building overlooks the port area and commands the only entrance to the quay. Due to frequent fogs on the Trifork lake, a lighthouse has been erected in connection with the harbourmasters office to lead ships safely to the port. Next to the harbourmaster, the busiest warehouse of the Trifork is located, holding most of the transit goods passing through the port. Goods intended for the city itself is normally shipped directly to merchants and warehouses in the city, but those goods waiting to be loaded onto another ship is kept safe in this warehouse. (HSS Nautical: Shipyard) Next to the quay, the local shipyard is placed. Its experienced shipwrights are renowned for their swift and manoeuvrable river crafts. Due to popular demand, the slipway is rarely empty, and many of the ships navigating the Avalonian rivers was built here. In times of war, fast and agile warships can be lauched at an impressive pace, given the proper ressources are available. (HSS Nautical: Quay and Cranes) The quay is rarely empty, and right now the Swiftsure patrol craft is being outfitted for another patrol, a merchants ship is being unloaded, and a small traders boat is docking. At times, the port is so busy that several ships que up awaiting docking space. The port is one of the key elements in the city's prosperity, and the council goes great lengths to protect its interests on the Trifork lake, as well as up and down the rivers. In the recent turmoil, rivertrade has gone up, as merchants are less vulnerable on the rivers than on the roads. Further, the river port is a great asset in times of siege, where supplies can be brought in under the nose of the besiegers. ________________________________________________________________________________ Additional photos: __________________________________________________________________________________________ A note to the photos: I found it really hard to photograph such a large build. And since photographing isn't my strongest point, the size didn't help me out. Tips are welcome, and I hope you can see past the questionable quality of the photos! Comments and criticism welcome
  4. The Port City of Mirameth, Ambalar Once a small trading post and now the center of a small Avalonian kingdom, Mirameth is a bustling port city on the Eastern coast of Ambalar. Nestled in the steep cliffs of the coast, this vital trading center for Ambalar is a cultural hub with many different goods and people arriving daily from all over the guilds. Here, in the portion of town closest to the ocean, an inn for arriving travelers, a pottery shop, a cartographer's store, and a warehouse can be found. Down on the docks of Mirameth, goods from all over Historica arrive daily. Here, some of the local pets are playing near a shipment of glasswear. Nearby at the rocks, a woman is enjoying the lovely ocean view. Also, some children are having fun and playing on some crates. The busiest building on the docks, this warehouse is the main location where incoming and outgoing goods are stored. Inside can be found spices, ales, ores, textiles, and more. Outside the warehouse, a fisherman is selling his catch for the day. A port guard is vigilantly watching over the docks, unfortunately, he doesn't notice the fugitive hiding in the barrel behind him. Here we can see a spice trader from Kaliphin making a business arrangement with the proprietor. Above, a worker takes a lunch break in the upper portion of the warehouse. Next door we see the Cartographer's Shop. Here, one can find all kinds of maps for any part of Ambalar, Avalonia, and most parts of Historica. It appears a prospector has just purchased a map of the mineral prosperous central region of Ambalar and is planning to scout out a mine. Many passing sailers who stop in the port can purchase sea maps here for their voyages. Across from the cartographer's shop is the pottery shop. The talented craftswoman is standing outside her establishment hoping to attract customers. Inside, a foreign soldier is purchasing a gift to take back to his family. This is a popular stop for traveler's wanting to purchase a unique Ambalaran craft. The most popular destination at the docks is the Drunken Horse Inn and Tavern. Inside can be found drinks and ales from all over the guilds, including some of the finest Ambalaran wines. This is a very popular destination for sailors passing through Mirameth as they can get a place to stay, a bite to eat, and lots and lots of alcohol in one convenient place. Speaking of the tavern, it looks like their latest shipment of ale has been spilled by clumsy shipper. And as a parting shot, this is the best full pic I could get with the layout of my build and my cramped photography setup. For this build, I would like to claim HSS: Hospitality: Inn; Craftsmen: Potter; and Services: Cartographer. I would also like to claim UoP DoH Anthropology: City Scene and Life in Avalonia. Just let me know if there's a problem with these claims. In other news I'm still working on my photography setup, but I think it's improving. Thanks for viewing!
  5. Port Wrath Nocturnus Falcon Free Build The caravan was taken. All were killed. And to the Falcon’s surprise, their vengeance awarded gold; a large chest of darics being hauled by the Lions was now in possession of Fendrel. He ordered his top men, and his lieutenant Sir Tercel, to take the gold to Port Wrath and purchase subjects for war. Port Wrath; a disgusting harbor on the northern edge of the eastern guild; easily distinguishable by its blood red water, was never a haven to humans. While dismissed by many, it’s actually a major trade hub; at least for the cursed and dark evil creatures that live there. All sorts of monsters live within it or within the deep red waters that surround it. Ghost captains and crew sail in and out of harbor each day and night, though they never dock, as they only sail the waters for an eternity with no purpose. It is here the Falcons came to buy allegiances, and it is here that the monstrous Falcons seemed the most at home. Enjoy ~Nemo
  6. West Stedor has been renovated. The wall, gate and towers may look the same as the previous ones, now they are stronger and have a better foundation. All the buildings in West Stedor have been replaced and put on a higher level. Now the ground level functions as stockage room. Avalonia, Mitgardia and Nocturnus have their individual stockageroom where their members can store goods. There are also 3 Kaliphlin stockagerooms. They can be recognised by the heralds of Eastgate (for West Kaliphlin), Petraea (Middle Kaliphlin) and Qarkyr (East Kaliplin). The buildings itself are different shops. The red building houses a bakery and a cartographer. The darkblue house has a butcher and cooper in it and under the arches people can buy fruit. The dark orange building is well know for their smiths, stonecutters and painters (most of them coming from Ruadh!). The green building is the very famous "Horses Head Inn". Under the Inn are stables. Not only the white striped buildings are a citymark of Stedor, also the mozaic roofs made of dried flowers are known in every corner of the world. As major Historican trading port, Mpya Stedor has cranes to lift heavy cargo. (note: it really works!) In the Market Area you can almost buy everything!! Some good wine? Check! Or a new fancy cape? Check! Or you need some barrels to store your food in? Check!! Let's see what the Market Area can offer you: - Ale seller from Mitgardia - Baker - Butcher - Cape maker (with spinningweel) - Cartographer - Cooper - Fish & Seafruits - Fruits & Vegetables - Inn - Painter - Stonecutter making statues - Weapons - Winery There is also a fortuneteller telling you everything you want to hear! After walking under the huge Main Gate of Stedor, you are welcomed by a very vibrating Main Square. People are meeting eachother here or saying goodbye, adventurers are dropping a tear before leaving the city, ... It all happens around the fountain under the Statue of Liberty. Another very popular attraction are the Warrior Games in front of the "Champions Guild". Many famous Historicans are watching now a game between a Mitgardian and a Jungle Of Gorr Warrior. Lord Damaximus is standing on the balcony of the "Champions Guild" (aka Alleenridders Palace), having a nice view over West Stedor. In front of him, workers are building a small temple. And if all the activity makes you thirsty? Well go get a beer in the Horses Head Inn!! Under the "Horses Head Inn" are the stables of West Stedor. Easily recognisable by the Camel wall painting next to it. In the lower right corner, you see a part of the construction site. As MAESTRO needed more space, they have converted the West Gate into their Headquarter. Here their traders and soldiers come and go with goods and gold. Different views of the city I had many positive comments at Brickmania Limburg about this part of my city. I hope you like it as well :) Thanks for watching! C&C is ofcourse welcome! Maxim I Note: I believe I am the first one using flowers as roofing technique. There are in Hungary and Poland buildings (mostly churches) with mozaic in their roofs, making it very colourfull and extrely beautifull. Note 2: For the University of Petraea I like to claim more than 3 credits because of the size of the MOC (it are smaller 3 48x48 baseplates + 1 32x80 + 4 32x32 MOCs): - Architecture: roofing (the flowers) - Architecture walls: SNOT tiled walls (the camel and doors) - Architecture roofrakes (the white roofrakes of the Horses Head Inn) - Architecture Advanced windows (the fences as windows, the double windows, ...) - General Building: Movement-enabled (the crane on the docks and the crane of the workshop) - Trade & Law: manufactering - Culture : Art Note 3: West and East Stedor will be showed together at Brickmania Antwerp 2014 (15 & 16 November) as part of a huge (8x8 meter) castle lay-out, so be sure to come to there and check this out! Note 4: the pictures were taking during Brickmania Limburg. That's why the lightening is not perfect. Anyway, thanks to Lt. Hornblower & Sebeus for holding the black sail behind the MOC!
  7. A free build for Kaliphlin! This was one of the funnest builds I’ve done in a while, and I quite like how it turned out; particularly the bright color scheme. Inspiration from Mark of Falworth’s Seaside Harbor: Link More pictures here: Link All C&C appreciated
  8. So, some of you may know that I have a Lego Pirate web-comic, and a point is coming up where I will need a port, and since the old port has long been demolished, I am starting a, rather large, project. After a week, this is what I have so far: Hurricane Bay 001 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr The whole thing. Hurricane Bay 004 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr The six sections that will make up the wharf. Hurricane Bay 005 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Yellow Frog Tavern. Hurricane Bay 007 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr I really don't like this little fort. Will definitely need to redo it. Hurricane Bay 006 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Just half of MMV expanded. Hurricane Bay 008 by Elephant-Knight, on Flickr Currently working on the Magistrate's office In case you didn't notice, the whole thing is modular, for a variety of reasons. First, easier to store and even build. Second, if I need to access a certain building for inside photos, I can simply remove the desired section, instead of trying to work around buildings. Thirdly, it is much easier to add or destroy a building. Need a buidling which I don't have? Build one? Need parts from this one? So long, sucker! And Fourthly, maybe I could make it a stander (Like Moonbase, but for pirates!) and use it at a con. Well, thanks for looking! EKnight
