You can tell by the "lower" Lego Ideas project # that I've been thinking about this for some time: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/63523 -- Anyway, people keep asking for instructions. I realize it's a longshot, but the "easiest" way for instructions to happen would be for it to be a real set, so here goes nothing... Note that this stands about zero chance as a "normal" set (obviously). We'd somehow have to convince Lego that there's enough interested people that there could at least be a limited run of 500 or 1000 "Special Limited Collector's Edition" sets made - which means that the price would have to necessarily inflated even more! So think well above 10 cents a brick. Clearly there's a market for collectors to pay thousands of $ for a model they like. The UCS Falcon is reselling for $3500 - I've seen one sold even! Aiii! Other non-Lego movie collectables and art sell for thousands as well. So: There's a market, but it's not the normal Lego market. Clearly most retailers are unlikely to be able to stock and sell a set this large, so it would have to be a special collector's market. Speciality shops can probably sell them, but that all adds to the overhead. Additional, a "small" run means that the per-unit production costs go up. So instead of expecting this model to sell for $2000 or so, we need to show Lego that people are willing to pay twice that. I'll make suggestions as an update, but the comments of the supporters will need to help demonstrate that there does exist such a specialty market. Even so, Lego is going to be hard pressed to do this. That specialty market may exist, but it's not Lego's forte. They may need to contract with others as they do for some of their smaller special runs and non-Lego merchandise. Even so, this isn't as big of a return as tens of thousands of a cheaper set, so they might not feel it's worth their time.

Dear Star Wars, LEGO, and R2-D2 Fans, I know this is late but 3 days ago, on August 13th, 2016 Kenny Baker passed away. For those of you unfamiliar with this amazing man, he is the man who controls R2-D2 from inside the droid. This forum is all about LEGO and Star Wars, so I decided to use the flawless combination of the two to pay tribute to Kenny Baker and his work as R2-D2. I hope you all comment and show your respects in LEGO. Rest in Peace Kenny Baker.

Hi, I'm wandering around the web looking for sites that like Lego, so I'm a newb here. I have a Lego Ideas project, the Lego Disney Wonder Cruise Ship, at https://ideas.lego.com/projects/128153 so please support it :) I also have some blog posts about the Lego Wonder Cruise Ship here: http://ourrandombits.blogspot.com/ - it's a cool story, so check it out. There's a link to the YouTube about it too. More recently I've started getting some attention for my full size, primarily Lego, moving R2-D2, L3-G0. As far as I know he's currently the only full size working Lego R2-D2. (I've Bing'd and Google'd and haven't found another, though there are some other good builds). L3-G0 the Lego R2-D2 got his own blog at http://L3-G0.blogspot.com- feel free to check that out too, and I don't mind if you share the link or tweet! :) The first blog also has a few other miscellaneous projects, time lapse build of a Lego Seattle Space Needle, a few random photos, and observations about the variance in brick sizes... - Kresty

This is my MOC of the Infinities Comic Vader vs. Artoo & Threepio It tells the end of Episode V and Episode VI with R2 and C3 as Luke and Leia Vader: "See-threepio, Artoo never told you what happened to your creator." C-3PO: "He informed me sufficiently. He told me you killed him." Vader: "No... I am your creator!" C-3PO: "No... no... That's not true. That's impossible! The odds against you being my creator are..." Vader: "Search your feelings, You know it to be true." C-3PO: "Noooo!! You see, sir, shortly after the Jedi were wiped out, my memory was erased. So that could explain why I'm having difficulty verifying your statement." Artoo then comes in with a lightsaber and battles Vader
