  1. "I don't like him. He's coarse and irritating, and he gets everywhere." The Twi'lek girl in the cantina had been right- the Rodian gunrunner was splattered over his hideout, an arm the only thing recognisable as belonging to him. He'd tried to run from my guns, the irony. His goons had put up a fight, but no one gets away from Demos Khan, Scourge of the Outer Rim. Or something like that, I forget what they call me now. The only sounds I can hear are the moans of the dying mingling with hiss of the door as it opens and closes on the lone arm draped across it's threshold. And the soft crunch of my boots on the sand. Job done. The dead Rodian's arm: Demos Khan himself: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So, I hope this is alright as a bounty hunter build! C+C welcome! Definitely got a lot more inspiration for SONE now.
  2. Aside from patrolling the Tatooine dunes, Merc was assigned as local security for the Mos Eisley spaceport in search of a suspicious Rodian. Merc: Looks like we're here. Last part of our patrol route, Mos Eisley. Trooper: Worst part of Tatooine too. Merc: You heard stories about this place? Trooper: Plenty. Not too long ago there was something about two guys in a bar who picked a fight with some scrawny farm boy. You think they'd have no problem right? But then the kids old man showed up and chopped off one of the guys' arm. Merc: Heh, guess its true what they say. You won't find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than in Mos Eisley. Sergeant: Hey, you two! Quit standing around. Get back to searching for that Rodian. Trooper & Merc: Yes sir! Merc: Hey there's one over by that street vendor. Think it could be him? Trooper: Blasted, they all look the same to me. Merc: Come on, lets check it out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey guys, back with a small free-build. I initially had a larger set-up prepared but due to a lack of tan pieces I made it a vignette instead. Also the back beams are not my design. Please judge this build.
  3. With the rebellion on the rise, more and more stormtroopers were spread through out the galaxy to search and seize the galactic insurgents. And Merc4Hire's unit was no exception, much to his delight as his days of exploring beyond the Tatooine dunes had finally arrived. ----- Hello fellow Imperials and Rebels, I've recently joined this RPG and wanted to make a simple introduction build for my character. The picture is a bit blurry since I had to use a camera I was unfamiliar with (for reasons) but I hope its not too hard on the eyes. If this counts for points, please judge this build and thanks for viewing.
  4. The problem with being an Afol and living in a small flat, is I don't have enough space to display all my sets. So I decided to build a diorama made of 75052 Cantina and other bricks from my collection. Then, I added a lot of minifigures from the original Trilogy plus others like Jar-Jar and a robot from the Space theme. I was inspired by the Creator buildings int he way I wanted my cantina to be opened vertically. The fanboys will tell that the Cantina has only one floor... My crew : The "easter egg" :
  5. I know it's like beating a dead horse already but after watching TFA, I felt compelled to post this. I made it like a playset because I have a 5 y.o. son who is into LEGO minifigures as well. The droid detector is also working (the flashing lasts for about 2 days without turning off completely) but I am looking for a way to use 3rd-party lights to add more LED lights. This is my attempt to recreate the Mos Eisley Cantina scene in episode IV and be faithful to how the characters should appear. I strived to put each characters in the location I believe is correct but of course there are many ways to interpret where they are because some of them moved around. So I just assumed the internet references I used are correct because after watching this scene over and over I am still confused where some of those aliens are located. Why work in progress? I feel that it is too small for 64x64 ... to be minifig scale. Should I move it to a bigger plate dimension? What I like with my current model is that each 32x32 plate are 'modular' so I can snap them on and off whenever I am moving them around for display. 6. OoC: See the rest of the story: Season 1 Shortly after leaving the asteroid’s surface I received a message from Rebellion message drop-point that detailed the need to get in touch with some Bothan spies who had some information for the Rebel Alliance. Being an intelligence officer, I also received the tip that there was someone on Tatooine who might know their whereabouts. I managed to muddle my way through the controls and set a course following the Rimma Trade Route further away from the core until I got to Eriadu where I headed coreward on the Hydian Way. That brought me to Darkknell where I followed my nav-charts along one of the back-water routes till I got to the planet that was furthest from the bright center of the universe, as Rebel hero Luke Skywalker used to say before he went missing after the battle of Hoth. I had never met the man, but Yeoman had before he was stationed on Corellia and he had told me all about him. I landed in Mos Eisley and followed my lead to a small junk dealer on the edge of town. As soon as it was obvious that I wanted something from him he gave me two eye’s worth of attention while the third watched the rest of the foot-traffic past his shop for other potential customers. I slipped him a small sum of credits and said, “I hear you are the one to talk to about information.” He glanced at the sum of the credit chip with one eye and very quickly I only had the attention of one of his eyes as now two were dedicated to the other lifeforms around us. “It depends on what kind of information,” he responded. I slipped him a much larger sum of credits. “I’m looking for a Bothan. One who has managed to escape Imperial entanglements with some special information.” Now one eye was on me, one was on the credits, and the last was looking for any nearby stormtroopers. “This is certainly enough to get you the information on finding a Bothan, but for the specific Bothan you seek, it’ll cost you a little more.” I knew this junker’s price would only escalate, so I had kept the bulk of my payment in reserve. I handed it over and said, “Yes, I’ve heard it’s the specifics that can be the hardest to accommodate. This should be enough though I think.” The credits got all three eyes for a moment and the next thing I knew I was being handed a piece of flimsiplast with coordinates and an address. “You’ll want to head to Fondor,” the junker said, “Then just follow the directions. Oh, and you never got any of this from me, you hear?” “Fondor!” I couldn’t believe it. I had just traveled half-way across the galaxy just to find that I needed to go right back to where I had come from. And if I was going to go to Fondor then I needed grab that would blend in a little better. “How much for that body armor there?” I asked. Moments later we had haggled out a price and I was on my way back to the Rough Edges. OoC: Please feel free to comment and of course, I want this judged
  7. Tie pilot Goatm An 461 is now on Tatooine to visit the shop of a famed engine mechanic/merchant. Stormtroopers heavily patrol this area because of the great interest in the new engine mods coming out of this shop. Maybe the Empire will just have to recruit this mechanic and secure his expertise. While on planet he decided to purchase a slave girl and a couple of cloaks to keep in the Tatooine fashion. I would like this freebuild to be judged during the SoNE IV episode, please.
  8. A bit of a pop culture mashup to please the kids for Brickvention 2015. A Beggars Canyon race with some threading of the Stone Needle on Tatooine using SDCC speeder model derivatives. More pictures on flickr. https://www.flickr.com/photos/78271818@N00/16125684910/
  9. As I was inspired to build in microscale by toomuchcaffeine's (alas, now former ) Cuusoo project of micro Star Wars scenes (pictures here), it has always been my intention not to not just make vehicles. I wanted to give them a setting, to make a diorama with just a few pieces. Maybe there are more to come, but anyway I present here to you my first micro scene. [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr Yes, I know. It's not a giant diorama that that epic scenes deserves (and has got), but still, I'm quite fond of it. The Sarlacc itself is the starting points. Add together 2 LEGO Friends hand mirrors/beac, 6 wild west horns/tentacles, 1 Technic turntable/teeth and some binoculars, clips and a dozen of SNOT bricks to make it bind, and voilà, there's your micro Sarlacc. Due to all the SNOT involved in this centerpiece, the build turned out quite complicated as a whole. Adding the curves to simulate dunes at an ofset didn't really help, but at least it gave a decent aesthetical effect. If you're more of an expert in the MOCcing cuisine, you can try to prepare the Sail Barge, as that's a quite complex recipe to follow. The distinct snout is hard to replicate in any scale of LEGO. You have to get the slope viewed from the side, and the curve viewed from the top. So you have to choose your ingredients - err... parts - very well. After using all kinds of pieces I had never heard of before (like Indian wigs, bizarre Hero Factory pieces, trays and bowls...) two rather ordinary (no offence) bow pieces (part 64225) seemed to deliver the right taste. Combining these with straight slopes and shields (O, I do love those!) gave what I was aiming for. The problem was keeping it together, and fitting it in with the rest of the dish - err... model. Some dirty tricks (no bricks were harmed, during the making of this model) gave a satisfactory result, though some gaps were left, I admit. [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr To garnish your creation, you can't go without some Desert Skiffs. To be in scale, they had to be really tiny, even for my standards . It was hard to come up with an accurate and - even more important - pretty solution. In the end, I took the advise of "less is more" seriously for once and stayed with one piece, and one piece only. The Rescue can (part 90395) that had proven to be unsuitable for the main course (the Sail Barge) turned out to be just the right part for the job. All you have to do then, is to tell everybody not to notice the gaps, and to present your creation nicely. To evoke the dessert of Tatooine (pun intended), a chaotic and rough edge seems appropriate, especially since you don't want to cover up all those offsets you introduced earlier on... [MOC] The Tiny Pit of Carkoon by Bert.VR, on Flickr This model is best served rendered with LDD2POV-Ray, and with a long text alongside it. I wish you all a humble bon appetit. Please let me know how it tastes. If you have remarks about the spicing, please do tell me. Then I will fetch you some salt and pepper. (in other words: C&C welcome and appreciated)
  10. Hello I have some new Star Wars stuff for you. It's one of these non-known Podracers from the big Boonta-Eve-Classic. The KV9T9-B Wasp by Clegg Holdfast: Want more? Enjoy the details on flickr and MOCpages! Stay crætive! Jonas
  11. "Ugh... Euh... Where am I?" Lego Spy says to himself as he wakes up with a headache and a good deal of sand in his armor. He stands up in the dark and smashes his head into something quite solid above him. "Grrh!" He growls becoming somewhat perturbed with his increasingly painful headache. Lego Spy reaches up and uses all his strength to move the durasteel slab from above him. As it slid away, he was blinded by the unmistakable twin suns of Tatooine. Everything suddenly came back to him: Cloud City, the battle, and his damaged ship spiraling to the surface of a planet. " " The question now: How to get out of the dump of crashed ships and wreckage?... Lego Spy finishing up on the currently unnamed speeder. Back View (^) Side View (^) Extra Pieces: None except for the minifigure. Here is the link to the .lxf file at my Brickshelf. I'm sorry if this is sloppy, I was rushed and started from scratch today. EDIT: Nope, no longer sloppy. All comments are welcome. And as always, for more of my pictures and MOCs, visit me at Flickr!
  12. After escaping the crash and storm, Tac and I made it to Mos Espa. I had contacts on Tatooine from my days working on the Corellian trader Alkan. In hopes of securing safe transport from Tatooine, I was able to make contact with the brother of a Rodian bounty hunter I knew named Gle Norto. Gle's brother Bouhra arranged to meet me at a cantina on the West end of the city. Bouhra introduced me to Bossk, a bounty hunter friend to his brother. Bossk was soon to depart Tatooine for Nar Eurbrickka and was willing to take Tac and I in exchange for a small fee. I didn't have a real good feeling about this Trandoshan. "I'm not sure this is our best option." I told Bouhra. "You've got little choice, the city is crawling with Imperial troops." he replied "Okay, let me find my friend. We'll meet you at the docking bay." I said Please judge this free build. Donnie Bricko
  13. Today, I would like to present my Desert Sail-20 Skiff. The Sail-20 was similar in design to the Ubrikkian Industries Bantha-II cargo skiff. The sail skiffs were smaller in size however, and were designed to be used as one-man personal fliers. Unlike the Bantha IIs, the sail skiffs housed a pair of blaster cannons located on each side of the lower hull. This model is not a "complex" as some of the others. Not alot of SNOT. But, it still looks good and stays true to the original model. It is designed, so you can place a sail from the new Jabba's Sail Barge set on it. Till, I build these in real bricks, I'm not sure if it will look too big, or not. After I have this built and the sail in place, I'll have to look at it and play with from there. I believe this is my smallest model in my series of Kenner Mini-Rigs. It has 134 pieces in it and can hold one figure. The .lxf file is in my Brickshelf folder. MLC-3 to come tomorrow! Thanks for looking, Jamie
  14. The suns have set, and it's getting pretty cold on this godforsaken sandbox. But I shouldn't complain. At least, I'm alive. I was keeping a close eye to the ground, searching for signs of rebels, the Black Sun, or something else that could threathen our troops (not that that rebel scum could harm us in any way, but better safe than sorry. Besides, I had to make sure our groundtroops wouldn't fall into the pit of some desert monster. Well that was a threat!). I knew we were approaching the rebels, so I was extra focused. At first, I didn't even notice the slight shaking of my TIE. But when it grew worse, and when everything was getting way to dusty, I noticed the sound. The motor of a Star Destroyer couldn't match that sound. It was enormous, and it was all around me. It made my head and my craft spinning. Black was everything I could see when I regained consciousness. The inflatable cushions had worked, and they had saved my life. Drowsy, I managed to get out of my craft. It wasn't easy, since it lay at an unusual angle and because I had to be careful with all the debries. The suns were just above the horizon, and in their light I could witness the wreckage that once was my TIE Fighter. In the neighbourhood, I could see several Stormtroopers. Some were moving slowly, others didn't move at all. A commander came towards me. I convinced him the TIE was of no use. Obviously, it couldn't fly, and I had a power leak. The transmitter was broken as well. But I offered to stand on guard, because I don't now how to treat the wounded and I do now how to look around. So I ended back on top of my TIE. [soNE Ep. II] To rob a thief by Bert.VR, on Flickr And just moments ago, when the suns had set, a Sandcrawler appeared on the horizon. Hurrah! Life! Although it were those filthy Jawas... but they had a vessel capable of crossing this dessert. My mind worked like a mad man. Since a couple of years, the Jawas stayed away from us (this probably had to do with those few worthless Jawas that were killed in pursuit of some droids, I think). So just like our own companions, they must think we're all that. They just here to steal our equipment, but if we act quick enough, we could reverse this. I hurry of my TIE to inform the commander. He approves of my plan, and everyone still able to hold a gun is being prepared. The Jawas are coming closer, and we are ready. Our ambush isn't very refined, but it'll have to do. Soon, we'll be out of this place, highjacking a Sandcrawler. Soon, those Jawas will shiver and bring us to our companions in one of the mayor cities. Soon, we'll be able to shake this sand out of our suits. We're about to rob a thief. For those interested, here is what I saw through my binoculars: [soNE Ep. II] Sandcrawler close-up by Bert.VR, on Flickr This is what I didn't want to see... my TIE... broken. [soNE Ep. II] What a mess! by Bert.VR, on Flickr And O, In the first shot Tatooine may seem like a beautiful place, but when viewed from a different angle, you can see what kind of mess it is... It does manage to stay upright, however. [soNE Ep. II] What I don't want you to see by Bert.VR, on Flickr Extra parts: none, except for the baseplate and the minifig. That's why the colors are terribly of and I had to take (read: render) a picture with contours. It turned out pretty cinematic, I think. LXF-file: find it here Thanks again for organizing this wonderful contest! This really got my creative juices going. It was a great contest to have as my first one.
  15. Gold Leader to Rebel Base, I've had a collision with an asteroid. I'm venting atmosphere I'm going to try to crash land on... Rebel Base to Gold Leader, Come in. Come in Gold Leader… 3 Weeks Later Gold Leader to Rebel Base... Are you receiving me? Rebel Base: We are. Thought you we were dead! Gold Leader: I think I might be, well at least I smell like I am. I’ve secured local transport from a reclusive bounty hunter. He gave a lift on his airspeeder into a small spaceport in the middle of nowhere, place is called Mos Eisley, nothing but a dirty shifty spaceport and few equally sketchy bars. He’s loaned me his ship for a heavy fee. Tell the General I’ll be sending him the bill. I’ll be jumping to light speed in 5, 4, 3… Gravity Gunner by RΟΟK, on Flickr SoNE EP2 by RΟΟK, on Flickr SoNE EP2 by RΟΟK, on Flickr No added pieces. http://www.flickr.co...th/10537406254/
  16. Here's my entry for Si-MOCs' awesome Micro Sci-Fi Contest. I decided to build the scene from the Mos Eisley Spaceport where Han Solo encounters Jabba the Hutt. A couple of overview shots. And the Falcon up close. If I get a couple more thermal detonator tiles I may have to build the whole ship... Thanks to the sponsors and organizers of this contest, and thanks for viewing! And maybe voting... ;)
  17. JAWA AMBUSH BATTLE PACK One minifig I always wished was available outside of expensive Sandcrawler sets are Jawas. Please find my SWBP entry images below - a Droid being ambushed in a Jawa Battle Pack playset. Features 3 Jawas (all slightly different in colour, cape style, hood) and an Astromech droid to be 'salvaged'. The cliff-face is hinged and can swing around. The desert incline can be moved to suit your display setup. The cliff face can swing 180 degrees to make a deeper cave to hide in if you are a Jawa... Or the droid can hide in the cave to try and avoid the gaze of those glowing yellow eyes. Where did R2-R7 go? "Utinni!" - a gentle push of the droid with your finger down the desert incline ends with the droid being shot with an ion-pulse and falling front-first onto the track (the lugs on the track enhance this play-feature), ready for the Jawas to take back to their Sandcrawler.
  18. In the deserts of Tatooine, the Jedi Sage has found a Noetikon! Use the Force to fire the flick fire rocks at the Imperial Sniper trying to steal the Noetikon. But watch out for the Sith Juggernaught Force Charging at the Moisture vaporator, flicking the Noetikon to the Sniper. Fortunately the Republic Commando is on hand with his assault cannon to help out the Sage! Who will win? The heroic Republic, or will the Sith Empire claim the Noetikon? You decide, with four exclusive figures: A Jedi Sage, Republic Commando, Zabrak Sith Juggernaught and Imperial Agent. Accessories include 2 lightsabers, assault cannon, sniper rifle, electrobinoculars and a Super Jumper! May the Force be with you! 85 pieces plus 4 minifigures with 1 weapon each.
  19. After successfully ambushing the Imperial assassin and freeing Pod pilot Pizz Landel we stopped at a Jawa hut to sell the confiscated speeder. We turned the assassin over to the Hutts, his punishment will be swift (and may involve Rancor justice). Raz returned the Pod pilot to the mechanics hut. The speeder Mission success! Please judge this freebuild. -D
  20. To prevent any further interruption from the Black Sun, we upped the security at the Podpit while the final preparations and repairs are being completed. Hopefully the mission to save the Pod pilot Pizz Landel is successful. The Alliance will prevail. -D
  21. After learning that the Black Sun was planning to upset the upcoming Podrace on Tatooine, we were assigned to track their activities. Through trusted sources we learned that Black Sun had hired an Imperial assassin to kidnap the racer that was favored to win the race, Pizz Landel. Our squad deployed to the hut of Pizz Landel upon learing of the conspiracy. We were too late, the Imperial assassin had already captured the Podracer. Blax, Raz and I were sent to investigate and try to find the whereabouts of the assassin and Pizz. Through a trusted source, Blax discovered of the location of the assassin's starship. We also located an Ipm probe droid that was dispatched by the assassin. By following the probe we figured out the path that the assassin would be traveling to return the prisioner to his ship. With this information we were able to spring a trap to capture the assassin and free Pizz. Our plan worked. We captured the assassin and were able to free Pizz Landel. Now we need to return Pizz to the hut to prepare for the race. But first we need to get rid of the assassin's speeder and ship to cover all tracks. Please judge this freebuild -D
  22. Episode VIII: Shaping the Odds: The Indigenous Triffian of Tatooine Finally a new mission! I was little bit bored, rotting in the base, watching films. As usually, it is happening on Tatooine. I mean, what isn't? I don't know all the details, all I know is, that I have to get a podracing vehicle and someone to drive it. That's all. Oh, and he must win the race. It's nice to have a contact when you're on Tatooine. Bothan spy net doesn't work here. Luckily for me, I have some old friends here. And they quickly found me a racer. A very talented and skilled driver, Johnnathin Rodentmatt, also called "The Indigenous Triffian of Tatooine. He could win easily with better engines, but I have something even better, something our friends from the Empire friendly "lend" us. The X45, best fuel in the galaxy. He will surely win with that thing. And ... Yihaaaa!
  23. After his recent promotion to Dark Troopers, Lord Tyrus had been assigned a rather mundane task, in his opinion, one far more appropriate for an ISB officer; seizing an illegally modified podracer, and imprisoning it's builder: a suspected Rebel collaborator, Jorvass Kahan, building modified pod racers in for the Rebellion in order to win them a bet, and therefore a substantial amount of cash. But ignoring orders wouldn't get him anywhere, and it had been because of his great ability to follow orders that he was in his position. He looked down at his datapad. His scouts had reached the selected zone and made contact, with no casualties. A good sign. Too good. Reports had told Tyrus that the mechanic was very well equipped, with many contacts and people working for him, therefore working for the Rebellion as well. For a squad of 3 scouts to have reached his small overground workshop without any casualties meant a miracle. A miracle, or almost certainly some sort of catch... * * * SoNE 8 by Lord Tyrus, on Flickr * * * Upon reaching the outpost, Tyrus was immediately met by sergeant Davon, with the other two scouts slouched around various parts of the otherwise empty building. He had heard great things about is man. He had been in the army just over a year more than Tyrus had, and apparently had been offered the position of AT-AT commander, yet refused it, preferring to continue his scout work, his great talent in the area and missions completed earning him the attention of the High Command, and also Lord Tyrus. He seemed to him the perfect man for this mission. After a quick talk with the scout, he learned the mechanic and his workers had fled eastward to a hidden base. Hidden, as the collaborator had thought, to anyone looking, but not to the technology of Imperial Intel. Tyrus knew he would probably need the HawkHead missiles loaded aboard his Scorpion Assault Vehicle. He would be able to file a report of their effectiveness to the Imperial Department of Military Research. If they worked like he had been promised, all that would remain of Jorvass Kahan's underground base would be a mile-wide crater, with him lost with it. Hopefully, Tyrus thought, the other Imperial agents had fulfilled their missions to do with the upcoming pod race, or the Rebels would gain a substantial amount of money for the war effort from their winnings, which could potentially be the turning point of the war... And some unedited pics, that are far less savoury:
  24. Not again... I knew today was going to be bad when I found this dewback out of her pen this morning. The big old girl had already knocked over some seriously expensive equipment and was busy licking the dew off of the fuel tanks, which likely accounts for her present digestive problems. I caught a terrible beating from my sergeant for her escape even though it was the pilots’ fault. They came back again last night, drunker than the night before and woke me up with a kick and something warm spraying on my face. After they ran me out of the stables, I am pretty sure they were messing with the dewbacks and they must have left this one loose. My sergeant did not care; said I was responsible for the dewbacks regardless. The rest of the squad was laughing and seemed all too pleased to see me on the wrong end of the lash once again. Now, this stupid old beast has been defecating all over the desert and I’m responsible for cleaning it up for some reason. They never said why I had to clean this stuff up; it is the freaking desert – a giant litter box – nobody is going to notice some dewback droppings. What does the Empire do about all of the wild dewback droppings? Do they have special squads to clean that up, too? I really should know better than to ask questions at this point. Nothing about the Empire makes any sense. Right now it looks like the local pilots are buying a pod racer from some sleazy salesman. They might even be buying the Dug pilot by the looks of things. These Imperials have no respect for non-humans. They treat us like slaves, serving them drinks, keeping their bar, lining their prisons, unnecessarily cleaning up their animals’ crap in the desert… These joker pilots are the last ones that should be getting into the pod races. From what their Iktotchi barmaid has told me, the Black Sun has been propping up this particular compound because the officers in charge are funneling Imperial V-Wings to the cartel. It’s been a good deal for the officers, who have bought up some extravagant living quarters and attached a first-rate Imperial shop. As far as the Empire is concerned, their only job is to provide aerial support to any Tatooine operations (which conveniently accounts for high V-Wing turnover due to the geography), but the enterprising among them have expanded their presence here to the aforementioned graft as well as some light “policing”/kidnapping/extortion of the locals. Because of the subsequent surrounding sentiment, this entire outpost is at the mercy of the cartel and they do not even know it. I am sure the cartel will just use this entry into the pod races to recoup their credits from these officers, but I am hoping the cartel will pull the rug out of this entire operation and that my squad will get taken down by the backlash. We have only been here for a few weeks; something about providing security during some heightened activity. Apparently they pull this kind of detail a lot; moving from planet to planet filling in the gaps where needed. I have only been with this squad since their last billet, but I can already tell that they were an ignorant, stupid lot of brutes. When I am not being beaten for imaginary infractions, the other troopers ridicule me mercilessly. They will not even let me wear a full uniform because it would bring shame to their glorious station. Some of the privates even tried to file down my horns before the squad leader stopped them (his reasoning, to be sure that I could be readily identified as non-human and treated appropriately – with scorn and mistrust as a non-citizen to the Empire). I hate these people. I hate the Empire. Even more, I hate my family for leaving me to these wolves. SoNE Episode VIII Entry by goatman461, on Flickr
  25. Ah 75059. My wallet shrieked, tore off screaming and hasn't been seen since. So I gathered up all the brown, tan and greys I could find and put together a sandcrawler, of the Tatooine + Jawa variety. Here's a MOC in the possible Midi-scale range; however it is also large enough for figs and features 4 custom Jawas... and a number of captured droids stuffed in the hold. I wanted something a bit more like the previous sandcrawler - but smaller. The result is something that fits well among the other Tatooine playsets and vehicles. In other words, I want a sandcrawler at a scale that won't compete with The Death Star 10188 for shelf display superiority. I didn't have a substantial number of brown and light brown plates around to make the exterior so this sandcrawler actually has more in common with 10114's than 75059. And of course, much smaller. The windows aren't exactly screen-accurate in their placement, however they provide an excellent view from inside the cockpit. I was able to score some simple treads for the bottom and although, they are also not the most screen-accurate representation, I feel they capture the spirit and also allow the crawler to move fairly smoothly. Here's the crew. Custom Jawas include torsos and feet from old Ewoks and black head pieces from Stormies. The brown hoodies are from surplus Obi Wans collected over the years. The yellow eyes are single blobs of nail polish. I didn't feel they needed decal torso prints but hey... maybe someday. The back area was the most fun to detail. I looked at some official schematics as well as some incredible builds from around the 'net for inspiration. The two cylinder things at the rear are distinctive and needed to be included. A couple of simple, strategically placed round studs provide a stopping point for the angled front walls of the crawler. The result is a snug fit when the door is raised - however the pieces are fairly worn and it won't hold in place. :/ On the top I had to take some liberties with the overall shape of the front since I wasn't using bricks that would allow such dramatic slopes. Here's the interior view from the forward bay. Junk and droids lay scattered along the entire first floor. You can see a maintenance bay above that - this piece is part of a large hunk that is removed for access to the interior. Here it is removed: The detachable part by itself: Overhead view of the cockpit and the hold below: The cockpit is just high enough for a Jawa to stand and the lid opens and closes easily. Over on the other end is a small platform where an engineer Jawa can access the main reactor. Well, that's that. I think the scale is good for my display, so I'm not looking to enlarge it but I do feel the shape of the upper front (cockpit area) might find improvement somehow. Also I'm looking to do a bit more color swapping in favor of the color pattern from 10114. I'm certainly open to comments and criticism. Thanks for checking it out and best of luck sweeping the deserts for salvage!
