These plutocrats rarely chose sides in times of conflict, as profits are best gained through neutrality. _______________________________________________________________________________ I've had these sitting on the shelf since December, and seen a few of my ideas being used by others. (Great minds really do seem to think alike ) Lego even stole my idea for a snake charmer in the newest CMF series! There has been a lot of good entries so far - good luck to all! Feedback is more than welcome!

Build Pics: ADDITIONAL PICS: NOT FOR THE COMP ~------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------~ Hey all! here is my latest freebuild, also my entry to the Varlyrio challenge. it was a one day build, probably my favorite so far though, IMO the angles and curve make this quite cool. enjoy! 4. As many of you History fans are aware, I have been actively promoting the Guilds of Historica, Eurobrick's exciting subforum. Right now is a great time to join a guild as the main challenged have wrapped up and we are looking into opening a second chapter of the land. A large part of this little poll/survey is to find out why people haven’t already joined the fun to see if there are changes we could make in GoH to bring more people into the world. Feel free to both vote in the poll (with my somewhat facetious choices) and voice your opinion here. For those of you who are not aware, the Guilds of Historica is a MOCing (and role-playing) paradise where EB members can tell stories and build MOCs for their chosen guild. What are these guilds? There is Mitgardia in the arctic north, filled with many great building role-models. Mitgardia has strong Norse influences and of course, builds many a MOC in the snow. The Mitgardians are often signified as strong, proud, and solitary folk represented well by the great bear, their guild colors are yellow and green. For those of you who like Game of Thrones, think of Winterfel and the Starks or maybe a great Dwarven realm from Lord of the Rings. Then there is Kaliphlin in the diverse, but largely arid south. Those who like to build MOCs in the desert with Middle Eastern or ancient Egyptian influences will be right at home. Kaliphlins are nomads, storytellers and traders by nature, traveling between city states peddling their wares and a story or two. Kaliphlin is often represented by the Lion, their colors are dark blue and red. For those of you who like Game of Thrones, think about the free cities beyond the Narrow Sea, or other cities in Essos such as Qarth. Don't forget about Nocturnus, in the eastern darklands. Nocturnus is a land full of wonder and has a vast array of wonderful creatures. Orks, cyclopes, minotaurs, and creatures and monsters of every sort can be found in the darklands. Sometimes misconstrued as “evil”, the Nocturnians seem fairly xenophobic and usually take great pride in keeping the other guilds out of their lands. Sometimes represented by a serpent, the Guild’s colors are red and gold. For Lord of the Rings fanboys, think Mordor with even more strange creatures! And for those of you who like the more "classic" castle land, then the western paradise, Avalonia, is the guild for you. Separated into three distinct areas, the plains, great forest and mystic isles, Avalonia is a lush paradise filled with tudor castles and green fields. Some of the guilds, who are jealous of Avalonia's beauty and success, call the Avalonians "treehuggers", but the Avalonians are great warriors and architects. Avalonia’s colors are sand green and dark green, their sigil is the dragon. Lord of the Rings fans might see this land as very Rohan-esque, though you’ll also find some Rinvendell like Elvish settlements as well. Though currently not open for membership, the land posses a fifth guild, developed during the course of the project, Varlyrio. With a sea fairing culture and Mediterranean influences, Varlyrio is still largely unknown to the other guilds and the island nation may become very important in the developing story. Varlyrio has no official sigil (yet), but its colors and gold and white.
  5. Rego Amancio:"You see my friends since Revolworld has gained control over Cedrica I can't trust many people anymore. So too garantee my safety I only agree to meet people on water. Less chance to get cornered." Messenger:"I actually have seen enough water coming to Vaylyrio, so I prefered a building but it will do. Rego Amancio grinned. Rego Amancio:"You poor fellows! Do you want some wine or grapes?" Messenger: "No thanks, we'll live. And that's not why we are here for." Saying that, the messenger reached for the letter. While doing that the guards followed him very carefully. You could tell they were a bit on edge. When they saw it was just a letter they were more relaxed. The messenger gave the letter to Rego. Rego Amancio cut the seal, opened the envelope and read: "The time has come..." Grimmson discussing plans with Besdarc.

  7. When Ageven and Merith arrived in Barqa they were met by three elves. Ageven thought he had seen one of them before. The elves hurriedly escorted them to a building just a few blocks from the docks. Gaius looked quite relieved to see them. “I'm sorry that you must leave right away,” he told Merith. I don't think you will be safe until you arrive with Kucuk's kin. “So that is why this elf looks familiar,” Ageven thought to himself. “He must be Kucuk Kartal, winner of the Eastern Archery Tournament in Mpya Stedor.” Gaius instructed Merith to follow one of the female elves and a short while later when they returned, Merith and the elf had swapped clothes. “The female elves in Kaliphlin cover their faces with head scarves to protect their beauty from the sun,” Gaius explained. “Three elves arrived at this house, and now three elves will leave and no one will be the wiser. Farewell now and may you find comfort at your journey's end.” Ageven bade Merith farewell and then Merith, Kucuk, and Tawaret, the other female elf, walked back to the docks where they boarded a small dhow. Their was not much room on board and what little room there was, was filled with provisions for the journey. They sailed west and Merith watched as the coastline disappeared beyond the horizon. Ten days later they sailed past a large island and four days after that they arrived at a large port city with many canals. Kucuk navigated the dhow to a large fortress in the harbor. Three lion men greeted them and helped secure the dhow to the docks. “Welcome to Amancio Castello in Illyria,” Kucuk gestured at the fortress. “You are safe here and this will be your home as long as you wish to stay." I want to give a shout out to MikeyB who with his Varlyrio Guild gave me inspiration for the foundation. A shout out also goes to Kristel for her modular building designs which helped inspire me with the architecture. Once again, please remember I am a crappy photographer, so keep that in mind when viiewing my photos. Edit: Added more pics. This build is modular and actually sits between to towers I am presentlyworking on.
  8. Here's my entry to the Varlyrio challenge. Inspired by de Gothia, MikeyB, and everyone else who has built in Varlyrio. This was a ton of fun to build and I hope you like it All C&C welcome
  9. Between the Illyrio and the Coluna mountain range, along the Capital road are several orchards, vineyards, farms and pastures. Orthus, Lord Arlindus' Father and Ambassador of Circardia travels along the Capital Road to visit the Dwarves of the Stoneheart clan for potential trade agreements. I really built this build to show off some my first aftermarket parts, the leaves are from Alt brick, sheep and the bridle from Brick Forge. I also wanted to try out the rock technique for a future build.
  10. Along the Grand Canal in the Varlyrion Capital of Illyria is the Ministry of Trade. Established to help regulate internal and external trade, merchants must receive a letter of permit for a nominal fee based on the value and quantity of goods. Outside the front of the Ministry of Trade Orhtus, Lord Arlindus' Father and Ambassador of Circardia arrives at the Ministry of Trade to explore possible trade partners. Leaving are two dwarves from the Stoneheart Clan Inside merchants wait to be seen by officials of the Ministry Once it is their turn, Letters of permit are issued by officials at the Ministry of Trade Not 100% happy with the photos but I wanted to get this done. I also noticed some things about the build I didn't noticed until I was shooting photos (some bricks not pushed tight, dust) but again, I was pretty pushed for time. Hope you guys enjoy!
