Hello everybody Few months ago I added a new Emerald Night set in my trains collection. Immediately I started searching how to motorise it efficiently... Unfortunately, being this set released 15 years ago, I could not find a motorisation solution utilising Powered Up and L Motor and I would really appreciate your input on this! Kindly note that I have thoroughly read the very few posts related to PU (not PF) and EN motorisation but there is nothing that thoroughly explains what to do and what willl be the outcome (speed and torque wise)... only thoughts by users. Also, during my research for motorisation I came across another extremely useful guide/site by Brendan McGrath who has published a very detailed list of the parts required to build from Pick a Brick (or Bricklink) an extra carriage for this beautiful set. Also, taking into consideration the realy hich priced window frames (may cost 200+ euros for all 10 frames to be bought) he offers an alternative approach for the second vagon which is quite interesting. Hey guys, I decided to create this topic and the main idea came from this and this post (so special thanks to @danth and @Digger of Bricks!). I would like to highlight three things before I start to post inspirational MOCs: I’ll post three staff picks everyday! Please feel free to post your favorite MOCs! This amazingly detailed MOC by @pj_bosman! 3. This greatly shaped modular by @cimddwc! Here are the three best Baroque MOC’s IMO! What do you think about them? Would you buy modulars like those if TLG made? Here are the Steampunk ones: 1. This incredible layout made together by @castor-troy and @domino39 (they also made one MOD of the PR and the MS and two MOD’s of the CC included in this layout. Hi. Me and some other swedes have started a TV-show for YouTube featuring the AFOLs of Sweden. Let me introduce you to my new creation. PLAYING IN SPACE SINCE 1978 by Cristiano Grassi, su Flickr Have you ever wondered how our Spacemen Heroes could travel for almost 40 years through space without getting older or bored to death? Here’s your answer. For forty years our heroes have been playing with LEGO bricks! I was reorganizing some minifigs when I found a spaceman that I used to play with when I was a child, having him live the most amazing adventures. And I started wondering “He’ll be 40 in a little while, what’s his secret?” So, I imagined him, together with all his travelling companions, playing with a LEGO Space base for forty years. Maybe it’s true that playing with LEGO bricks keeps you young. What do you think about it? Do you find it new? Interesting? Creative? I had never seen something like this before and it's one of the reasons I've launched the project on LEGO Ideas. Another one is to see our beloved Classic Space minifig come back, or, why not, maybe even a few themed sets could come back. This project could act as a springboard. While browsing around Pinterest the other day, I came across this one amazing microscale city skyline creation by Instagram user Jeff Friesen (a.k.a. jeff_works), who has build a few other micro cityscape MOCs which are all just as extraordinary. Instagram seems like the only place he has posted his work, and, since I've never browsed around Instagram for MOCs before, I started searching around the site via some the hashtags attached to his posts. Unfortunately, I really couldn't find anything at all, since many of the posts under the hashtags mostly consisted of minifigure photography. So, does anyone here know of some great and/or noteworthy fan builders who only post their work on Instagram? -

This is my newest moc. It is a fully detailed motorcycle shop. I made it to look like it was an old retro fitted building. Sorry for not having any pics, i suck at computers and cant figure out how to get the file small enough. But luckily i have video so enjoy.

I had the opportunity to watch the LEGO Ninjago movie today, as part of a press preview showing in Seattle, WA. The showing included members of the press, Members of the local LEGO User's Group (SEALUG), and members of the community.NOTE: While I'm trying to be spoiler-free, please proceed with caution! As a point of context, I have very little knowledge about the Ninjago world; I haven’t built any of the sets or watched the TV show. My typical focus is LEGO and Architecture, although I dabble in Technic, Creator, and Star Wars themes. Story The movie begins with a brief live-action shell story containing none other than Jacky Chan as a real-life Master Wu. We are quickly (and painlessly) transitioned into Ninjago city, a beautiful brick built city which is obviously inspired by Asian architecture. I did not see specific references to China, Japan, Korea, or other countries in the region, so I think they have tried to keep it nonspecific. (I do not feel qualified to determine if this is a sincere effort or cultural appropriation.) We are quickly introduced to the cast of characters and the conflict between the “good guys” (Master Wu, Lloyd, Cole, Jay, Kai, Nya, Zane), and Garmadon – the seemingly one-sided villain. We are also introduced to Lloyd’s mom, Koko. The film draws obvious parallels to classic Monster / Robot invasion themes. Within the first 30 minutes, the connection between the main characters becomes clear, setting the stage for the film’s core story line. Details Without going into specific spoilers, I wanted to call out a few details of the film which helped it shine... Music – Through a mix of flute melodies and popular songs, the transitional moments in the film are emphasized with complementary music selections. They are nice easter-eggs for older viewers. It’s a bit heavy-handed at times, but the film isn’t trying to be subtle, so it works. Style – The movie environment is richly detailed and attractively rendered. The film used a blend of brick-built environments and rendered 3d scenes to a positive effect. In contrast to the original LEGO movie, most of the landscape and water details are not brick-built, but I felt like it did not detract from overall effect. Animation – The stop-motion style of animation perfected on the original LEGO movie returns for this film. I think this is a good decision, as the subtle pauses of the minifigures as they move remind the viewer that it is in fact a toy. I did notice that they took more liberties in changing the angle of arms and heads beyond what is possible with real bricks. In this way, the film is a bit less authentic, but I didn’t feel like it was too distracting. LEGO'iness My biggest pleasure in the original LEGO movie, and biggest disappointment in The LEGO Batman Movie stems from the role LEGO plays in the storyline. The plot of The LEGO Movie is inextricably linked to the LEGO medium, be it the various historic LEGO realms, the constant re-building of components into creative solutions, or even the moment where Emmet can finally “see” the LEGO elements and their associated Part ID’s. The movie was bursting with easter eggs and natively LEGO moments that were a lot of fun to see as an AFOL. By contrast, The LEGO Batman Movie was a Batman movie first, and the LEGO aspects felt like an afterthought. The movie’s core plot would have worked just as well as an animated film, a cartoon, or even a live-action film. This was disappointing to me as a fan of LEGO first, and Batman second. (By contrast, friends who love the Batman franchise were more positive about the film.) The LEGO Ninjago Movie isn’t quite as strongly tied to the brick as the original LEGO Movie, but it’s better. There are lots of clever parts usage moments, and the storyline features specific LEGO elements in a prominent way. I know it's being a long time since the last time I'm being in this forum, but there's a reason for it. For some reason, I find that the AFOL community starts to become harder to pleased with new sets release, like every new sets needs to be like a UCS, "High-End collector item", and "Well-built with complex build" or whatever. I know that these fans didn't represent the majority of the AFOL community, but is it really that the AFOL community has become harder and harder to pleases? -

I designed a Lego Space Shuttle to scale with the recent Lego Saturn V set. Since I get this question a lot, it is more proportionally correct than the 10231 and 10213 Shuttle, and is also accurately scaled to the Saturn V :) I posted a version of it on here before, but this one has been adjusted and finally submitted it to Lego Ideas. Greetings everyone! My name is James. I've been a life-long fan of Lego but had a few years away from it. Now I'm back, trying to leave the 9-5 grind and have just started to build a Lego-based career. I love anything Lego to do with Sci-Fi and robots (and particularly Doctor Who). Down the line, I think my dream would be for The Lego Group to really embrace the AFOL community and make a space that embraces anyone's Lego aspirations. I guess like the LCPs but in an almost open-source way. So, that's my far-flung project idea. My website is 28 Bricks Later where I put most of my MOCs, mods and stories. It's great to have found this forum, I look forward to getting to know you guys.

This is an alternative build (C-model) inspired by the Peacemaker from Mad Max's Fury Road (2015 film) The instructions are 2 PDF files. The first, includes the steps to build the chassis (this is a replica of the car tank built and used for the movie) The second PDF includes the instructions on how to complete the model by building the bodywork. I included a mount base for display. Model is functional with or without the bodywork. I made an effort to make as realistic as possible and therefore the model is manual. i will upload versions of this using Power Functions and Control +, But I am working on other models for now. G'day all! My name is Moz77 and I'm from Australia. Long term lurker on this fantastic site, but a new member as of last weekend! I've been collecting Lego really since I was born (in '77), but back out of some long dark years about 5 years ago. I collect mainly classic town (combined with the modulars and the odd other modern city and creator sets that fit into town layouts) and vintage trains, but will soon expand to pirates. THE MASK OF ZORRO left its mark to my childhood in 1998. At my young age, I was pretty impressed what I watched. The way that this mysterious, dark hero with his black mask and cape was fighting for peasents against Spanish dons. The scenes, costumes, acting, story... they were all attracted me. Before I decided to make a Zorro moc, I planned to build an old Spanish manor, but later on I thought, why not. About the movie, I find many similarities with Pirates of The Caribbean so if you haven't watched Zorro but like PoC, give a chance. ~Z~

Curious if anyone has used the Build together feature in the Lego Builder app yet and what they thought of it? What set did you use? How many people? Were they all AFOLs? Did it 'work'? Was it fun? It seems odd that any concept of 'togetherness' begins with each member on their own mobile device but I suppose this is a necessary evil given the subject matter. I've always tried to get my friends in on the fun, especially when building the big Technic design released each year around my birthday. Admittedly, there have been varying levels of interest over the years... This year, everyone asked me what I wanted for my 50th birthday (you mean, apart from pretending this milestone isn't actually happening?!?) Naturally I feel inclined to force them through building 42146 with me. What do you think?

Do we, as AFOL's, have any influence on TLG? Hello, I have a question (you probably already saw that ;) i was like: I understand that it is not the goal of eurobricks but, we have for example a future whises topic. Does TLG do something with that? Is someone at TLG reading these topics for work? I could have asked this in the general discussion but i also would like to know if we had influence on the techinc/mindstorms line because that is the only theme i care about. and what exactly is the embassy? thanks! -
