Entry for Eurobricks' Alt Build contest: Large Category (original set, 31132 Viking Ship and the Midgard Serpent, RRP: $119.99 USD) For my entry, I decided to take Creator's 31132, which itself is a re-imagining of an old Vikings set (7018). Creator 3-in-1s are fantastic sets for parts, imagination, and interesting builds, and this one is tied for #2 on price at $119.99 USD. Since the three builds for this set originally are a ship and monster, a building, and another monster, I really wanted to challenge myself with something different from those and outside of a medieval theme. So, what's more different than Star Wars, specifically podracing? One of my building philosophies is if it's not a statue or microbuild, I want to include play features and serve a story and such, and a lot of alt builds back in the day had those to varying degrees, so it was important to me to include that and use the pieces provided in the set in varying ways, which allowed me to create these alt builds. In addition, I think adding in the small builds helps serve the Star Wars lore regarding podracing. It's very fast, very dangerous, and humans really aren't adept at it. Also in The Phantom Menace, we see Tusken Raiders trying to ruin the race by shooting at contestants, so I figured this would be a fun way to include these builds and pieces along with some story. So let's dive in! Let's start with our first racer. Let's name him Harold Skywalker. He's got a tiny little podracer that didn't cost much, but it got it where it counts, kid. He's gone for a primarily blue/teal and yellow color scheme. On a closer look, you can see the twin engines and the energy binder connecting them. The side shot can show the pod itself is built using SNOT (and the engines) and actually upside down. A closer shot of Harald trying to steer his racer as best he can. Our second racer is Helga Secura. She decided to spend a lot more money on her racer with a more earth tone look. It's beefier and meaner, needing four cables to connect her pod to the engines. Helga's energy binder is actually covered by a metal shaft to protect it from any disruption or debris on the track. Unfortunately, they aren't secured well and can swing wildly, so she better be careful! As her engines are a bit bigger, so too his her pod, which even has a small jet boost on the back for some extra speed. Side-by-side comparison shots of the two racers, showing how they differ in size. Next up is the starting/finish line. It's wide enough for one racer to cross at a time. Next up are the two side builds to help the racers. It's boys vs girls today, so helping Harald is his friend Odin Nido, a sharpshooter. While Harald spent less on his racer, they decided to spend some money on a blaster and some protection for Odin to use to take potshots at the competition. But Harald isn't the only one with some extra help! Helga has enlisted her friend Brunhilda-wan to distract and lodge some stones at the other racer! Helga spent a lot of her money on that racer, so she had to settle for an old-fashioned catapult. And here is a final photo, comparing the original set with the alt build. While the alt build didn't use everything, I would like to think I used the pieces in a good amount of ways that are different from the original set, and I'm happy with how this one turned out! Enjoy, and as always, comments and criticism more than welcome! I can't wait to see everyone else's builds, too!

I won't try to make a big and epic introduction. Each of us knows that the first thought that comes to mind when you see the 42177 set is a Unimog I didn't think long about a specific model. I always wanted to build a Unimog U423 and the premiere of the Mercedes G500 was the best opportunity to do it :) When I got the set in my hands, I immediately started designing U423. The plans were ambitious and as the prototype developed, I added new functions to check how many bricks I would need. Finally, I used 2,513 elements, or about 87% of the Lego set. Ultimately, the model has 12 functions: - front and rear floating axle - central differential lock - rear axle differential lock - all-wheel drive - working dummy engine - front and rear PTO with two speeds - front hinge system - 2-way tipper - HOG control - liftable cabin - openable hood - openable doors Length 41cm x width 20cm x height 24cm / Weight 1620grams / Scale 1:13 When I was building the model, I really wanted people who would build their own Unimog to be able to modify it by adding their own tools. That's why the Unimog is equipped with a front linkage and drive shafts at the front and rear. You can easily add a snow plow, sand spreader or municipal mower to it. It seems to me that the model is an ideal base for everyone to create their favorite version of the Unimog, although even without modifications it is a lot of fun to play with! :D I'm not entirely satisfied with the fact that I didn't manage the iconic lights. I had probably 20 versions of the bumper and only the current one I liked enough to include it in the final model. Maybe I will add some modification to make it look better, but I will need a few system bricks Of course, the biggest thanks go to the designer of this set, @grohl. Thanks to him, after 2 years I bought the technic set again and it is definitely the best one in the last few years. Thank you! Hello, my plan is to make a battle szene with mortesv Nebulon B and the Correlian Corvette, both are scale 250:1 And this is the problem, a "in scale" 1600m Star destroyer would be 640cm long. Far more space and bricks i can effort. So im building simultaneously in LDD and real the nose and just the nose of a Star destroyer. The greebling height is aproximately 12Studs in this scale. Picture quality of the studio model is rare if someone has a good reference i would appreciate if you could share the link. Found plenty of different versions of greebling around the star destroyer. To make things a little bit more comlicated i try to design this as an alternate build of the 10030 and use only the original parts. This will cause a few compromises. This is the actual progress in LDD AND real bricks.

It's been quite a while since I last created a topic here on EB, but recently started a lot of building again, and want to share some of those here :) A while ago I bought 75084 Wookiee Gunship, but I didn't really like the set itself, so I decided to built a MOC using just the parts in the set. Here is the original btw: And here is my alternate build: 75084 Wookiee Gunship Alternate Build by Lego TWP, on Flickr 75084 Wookiee Gunship Alternate Build by Lego TWP, on Flickr As far as alternate builds go, I think I've done a pretty good job. It even won't fall apart when I hold it xD 75084 Wookiee Gunship Alternate Build by Lego TWP, on Flickr Usually alternate builds feature very messy underside's, but IMO this one looks kind of okay 75084 Wookiee Gunship Alternate Build by Lego TWP, on Flickr It features opening cockpit, rotating cannons and space to place a storage crate. As you can see, I didn't apply the stickers originally supplied with the set. Wonder what it will look like with them applied, but I'd like to use the parts for future builds ;)
