  1. *Your entry has earned 16 XP (S:6, T:5, A:5) Aurora Squadron - A Star Wars Mysteries Story Chapter Overview with Link: Dramatis Personae: ******* << to previous chapter Chapter 02 - Skirmish above the little moon »Almost there... Reaching safe point to jump to hyperspace in two minutes. Prepare for breaking through the light barrier... « »Er... Auora Leader? I got some interferences on the rear sensors... « »We got a problem here! Inbound fighters at one-seven-decimal-two-eight! « »I see them. Interceptors! Blasted! They are much faster than us! « »They were using the solar wind to cover their approach! « »Hey! Usually it's us having the good ideas! « »We will not make it to the jump. They'll shoot us down! « »Argh. hypercomm is jammed! « »Karabast! They're hunting us! That's a Lancer frigate blocking the comms! « »... and two more Light Cruisers on the long range scanners - orbiting Velusia and spitting additional fighters. I ask myself, why aren't they engaging too... « »Hah, they consider a Lancer more than enough to handle us, I guess... « »Aurora Squadron, I should remind you that my ships primary weapon system is still offline... « »Captain... « »Adar Welton Yuro, my dear. « »Adar Yuro, keep the course. We hold them off as best as we can! Jump to Shawken and alert the Republic. We have a Fast Response Strike Fleet in orbit there! « »Of course, my dear! I will request assistance immediately. « »Aurora Squadron: S-foils in attack position. All power to the front deflectors. Let's show 'em who we are! « »Roger, big sis, Aurora three standing by! « »Roger, 'rora Leader! So this is it. The Last dance... « »Lancer ahead! Fly-by low and fast! Let's make them shoot through our formation onto the pursuing TIEs and then get out of reach of their turbolasers! We use that little moon back there for cover! « »Yeah... let's get to that lovely, little moon... « The skirmish rages on, with the Aurora Squadron somehow surviving... »Good work, Auroras! The Lancer can't follow us around the moon. We just need to handle the TIEs! « »I'm hit, but not bad! Ar-Que, can you do something with that stabilizer? « »Woohoo, I got another one! « »Aurora Six? Good shooting, but watch out. The Lancer coming up on the horizon again! « »Karabast! I'm hit!!! Shield's down! I can't even - need to go down... « »Aurora Six?! Partt?! Blasted! C'mon, where are the reinforcements?... I know you aren't disappointing us, Adar Yuro... « A fleet deploys out of hyperspace... »Aurora Squadron! This is Captain Quffar of the New Republic Cruiser Tranquility, we are here to aide you! « »Not a moment too soon, Tranquility! We - argh - have trouble with the Lancer and possibly more enemy ships incoming. « »No worries, take cover in our formation. We'll do the rest. Standby ion control... fire! « With the arrival of the Republic the tide turns. The A-Wings and the CR90 corvettes handle the enemy fighters, while the Lancer gets disabled by the brand new MC25i Heavy Ion Artillery Cruiser. »Rebel ... I mean Republic forces! This is Captain Algin Taggart of the Imperial frigate Baygon. I declear my surrender and request protection under the New Republic Integrity Act for war prisoners. I... - wait, what do you mean traitor, I - arghhh -« »What was that?! Captain Taggart?! « »Seems like he's been cut off, Ma'am. « ********************************* Hello and thanks for reading the second issue of the Aurora Squadron. @Professor Thaum inspired me with his lovely little Arquitens Harvester and Bloodhound to work on some miniatures on my own. Here, I present you my creation, the Heavy Ion Artillery Cruiser MC25i. The MC25i is not that large but comes with a special mission profile: The Rebels suffered a stunning defeat on Hoth, but what still went well there, was the ion canon coverage for the escaping transports. The MC25i brings this advantage into space. With the integrated heavy ion canon, the cruiser represents a major threat, even to capital ships like Star Destroyers, disabling their shields and maneuverability swiftly. New Republic pilots nickname it the Tranquilizer, firstly because it puts other ships to sleep, secondly being a malapropism of the first ship built, the here shown Tranquility and thirdly because being on patrol with it can be tranquilizing, as it is quite slow. Its disadvantage is the high power consumption, leaving a vulnerability window, where some of the deflector energy level needs to be rerouted before firing. This has been addressed by strenghtening the hull armor, making the MC25i a quite sluggish cruiser. The roll-out of MC25i goes alongside with a new New Republic doctrine from the chancellors' bureau, to save lives and equipment, even on the enemies' side. The cruiser has been co-developed by Mon Calamari, Quarren and Corellian engineers. The former gave it a whale shark-like appearance, taking inspiration from their home world's rich aquatic fauna. The MC25i is a reminiscence to the much larger MC75 with the hanging bridge. I realized I need to add some other, well known ship for size reference, so that's why I came up with the Corellian Blockade Runner. The design is partially moc, partially I took some design reference from other moccers on the www. The TIE interceptor I built already some months ago, when I modified the 75300 TIE fighter. I'm happy I could use it here for some cool scenes. Last but not least, the X-Wings and the capital ships needed a villain ship to be disabled so I built the infamous Lancer frigate. I realized it's quite a bulky ship and maybe I got it a little bit too thick, but that's how it turned out
  2. *Your entry has earned 14 XP + 5 bonus for a total of 19 XP (S:4, T:5, A:5) Aurora Squadron - A Star Wars Mysteries Story Chapter Overview with Link: Dramatis Personae: ******* Chapter 01 - The Scourge » Ten hours on patrol... I'd give a fortune for a stretch! What we doing here again? In the middle of nowhere? « » As the Squadron Leader said, there have been rumors about increased Imperial Remnant activity out here. « » I don't buy it, Biz. I mean this is Alliance space now. C'mon! Where are we... er... Velus system. Look! The Core is ours. Coruscant is the only world in this region left to be controlled by the Imps. « » You should tell the Empire, Partt. Space is vast. How many jumps did we make? Twelve? And what about the hundreds of lightyears and star systems we did not cover? « » Trill-deep-boop « » Yeah exactly, RQ! It's so easy to enter systems undetected. The Imps are out there, I feel it. « » Cut the chatter. I'm picking-up a signal! « » 'Rora Three, incoming confirmed. « » Da-deep-weeep-quup « » Thanks RQ. Seems like a weak distress code. Alliance signature. It's coming from that little moon there... « » That’s no moon... « » What do you mean?! « » I mean technically it's no moon. It's not orbiting a planet. I'd say, looking at its elliptical trajectory around the central star, it's a dwarf planet. « » I'm starting to regret I promoted you two to be my wingmen. You're like an old couple! Now concentrate and increase to full throttle! « » Roger, Laura Riedl – I mean 'Rora Leader! (Have you ever tried to say “Roger Aurora Leader” three times in a row?!) « » Copy, 'Rora Leader! « » Hullo? Anyone out there? T -fzz- is Velusian space force unit one-two-two. My DF-11 has been str -fzz- ion discharge and -fzz- running out -fzz- oxygen. I repeat. I need -fzz- ... Hyperdrive is -fzz fzz- position point-nine-two-five! Please -fzz- -one out there? « » Scourge-Fighter! Disabled and orbiting that moon! « » I just said it's not a moon. Whatever. This could be ... um... a trap. Pirates tend to use DF-11's! « » We are obliged to help. But keep your eyes open. Aurora Six? Drop back. Aurora Three stand by. Velusian pilot. This is Captain Zebborah Walsh from the New Republic forces! We will help you! Aurora Three, send your Astromech. « » RQ? Get ready. « After RQ repaired the poor pilots scorched energy coupling, the DF-11 is soon spaceborne again. » I thank you so much, dear friends. I knew the Rebel Alliance would help! « » You mentioned an ion discharge? « » Yes my dear! I tried to escape but they hit me and - « » Who hit you?! « » The Imperials, of course. I ran into a patrol of TIEs when I was trying to escape the planetary embargo. I deployed an ion mine but the discharge overloaded my primary systems too. I managed to take cover here around this little moon. « » It's not a - arrgh - forget it. « » So Imperials are operating in this system? « » Of course, my dear. « » You escort us to our base and report everything to our Commander! Looks like we found 'em! « to next chapter >> ************************************ Hello and welcome! Spin-off from the Raiders story, where in chapter 03 the Aurora Squadron has been introduced. Aurora Squadron comes whenever needed to secure and defend peace and freedom in the Galaxy! The build to be scored here is the DF-11 Scourge Starfighter, that has been recently introduced by the video game Star Wars Outlaws! I'm quite proud of it, especially that I build it quickly on two evenings (as a response to the DS challenging us in L9 ) I hope it's ok when I put it also in the main thread
  3. Metro Exodus - Aurora Steam Locomotive Hello to everyone, Metro Exodus, inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, is the first game to be fully established after the books, not between them or among them. Aurora is in the game, with the steam locomotive Lego design. The Aurora (Russian: Аврора) is a heavily modified steam locomotive, boarded by Artyom and Anna to find a new home far to the East in Metro Exodus. It serves as a mobile base for the player. Yermak is the Aurora's helmsman, while Miller serves as its crew's leader. The Aurora is a "duplex" locomotive, with two sets of driving wheels in what appears to be a 2-8-8-4 configuration, which means a forward pilot truck with two wheels, two sets of driving wheels with eight wheels each, and a rear trailing truck with four wheels. In Russian configuration, this would be a 1-4-4-2. The locomotive may be a heavily modified Russian P38 articulated locomotive which were the biggest and heaviest Soviet steam locomotives in existence. It might also be based on two Soviet IS20 locomotives (like IS20-317) combined into a single engine. Those were made from 1932 to 1942, and were used even all the way up until 1972. Most were scraped in the 1980's due to larger locomotives had taken there place on Soviet railroads. This is the first steam locomotive in the Metro series of games. The locomotive that was converted into the Aurora could have been taken from one of several Moscow's railway museums, where some steam locomotives are preserved in a fairly good shape, despite their age. Even though he may appear intimidating, Stepan is a hopeless romantic and always wants to help those in need. 8-Katya - A trained nurse who initially survived with her daughter in the Southern Urals, she moved north towards the Volga River. They were both captured by the Church of the Water Tsar and its leader Silantius. 9-Nastya - Katya's daughter, was captured by the Church of the Water Tsar along with her mother. Particularly hated Silantius as he smashed her flashlight in his technophobic zeal. in-game dialogue: Idiot: "How about Aurora? The Roman goddess of dawn and a cruiser of, uh, you know what... Alyosha: "Not bad! I like it." Yermak: "a beautiful name..." Sam: "Sounds OK... but a cruiser of what?" Alyosha:"I'll tell you later..." Miller:"Looks like it's decided..." 4. Some time back I have built a ship which was inspired by Tintin's adventures. Now the time has come to disassemble the "Aurora" but before that I wanted to take and present some pictures: I was happy to include the small yellow aircraft. The Aurora was meant to undertake underwater expeditions. Therefore there were two small submarines in its hull. "Doors" would open to let the submarines dive into the water (but you can't really see that well on these pictures...sorry.) What you can see here is that the ship was build in a modular way. It also had sliding doors. The sad thing is: my sons never played with it... Seems I have built it mainly for me. C&C welcome!
  5. Sometimes I wish we were still in that age of dicovery, when there were far away unknown regions to explore... When people were baffled by inventions and were up for going on a adventure of a lifetime. With a little mix of science, myth and fiction thrown in. Anyway, enjoy. Aurora; a hoverboard inspired by 'VNV Nation - Automatic'. More on my Flickr photostream.
