I decided to try out a Lego Advent Calendar this year. It was fun opening 24 small builds across the 24 days before Christmas I wondered if I could make something using just only the parts from the 2017 Advent Calendar. Using most of the Red, White, Gold and Light Gray parts. I was able to come up with this Sleigh for Santa. While it's a bit fragile in real life. I think it looks good for what parts I had available (LDD pics for now. I'll photograph the real version later)

Santa is a Rodder... Hard to believe but Santa is probably a Hot Rodder and this year he has changed his classic sleigh with this snow-rod in bright red and gold. I think he's having a lot of fun with his new machine I wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This is Lego's 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS set with some unique rallycross-inspired features I added making it the perfect sports car to drive in the snow. Features Suspension system raised to make the car about two studs higher Wheels and tires from the 42037 Formula Off-Roader Mudflaps LED light bar Front off-road lights Rear bash bars Optional snowplow that attaches to the front The lights are fake and don't turn on, and all of the other lime-colored pieces are from the 42037 set as well. I had a lot of fun making this. I just had to switch of the area of the springs to change the height for the rear without any pieces needed, but for the front, I had to remove the entire Porsche's body to make the lift there using a variety of pieces. Overall, I'm proud that a got the result I wanted, which was making the Porsche 911 GT3 RS higher (so it wouldn't bottom out) and equipping it with off-road features so I could have fun with this set in the winter. It does need to drive in snow only about an inch high so I could move it without getting stuck (and so the plow can move the snow too). I recommend to anyone who has the Porsche set to try these mods out for themselves this winter! We have a family tradition of creating a Lego Christmas Village with our family. This year we took it to the next level with hundreds of lights from Brickstuff and thousands and thousands of bricks. The only official set we used is the train from the 2016 Holiday Train set to which we added a battery pack, lights and the remote control upgrade. Hello! This is our Christmas theme layout, my wife and I started building it a year and two months ago for our RLUG's exhibition: Brickenburg Winter Exhibition. For the next events we were expanding it, making it bigger and bigger, adding more and more MOCs and details. Now it has a mountain, Santa's workshop and house (MOCs), some houses (some of them are Winter Village sets) on a hill, a church, a train station, a post office, the nativity scene, some booths selling seasonal goods and two Christmas trains (the two sets). The older train set runs programmed with RCX Mindstorms brick. It goes one round, then stops at Santa's toy factory with its freight car right at the factory belt, which starts moving, like it produces toys and fills up the wagon, after a few seconds it stops and the train starts again. We used lots of LED lights in lamp posts and especially in light string decorations, where we put 0.6 mm wide LED to 1 x 1 transparent round plates wired together. Happy Holidays! I wanted to share with you my Christmas village for 2017. This year my main additions are a ski lodge and resort area, the new official Winter Station (expanded), and a new city block made of Creator 3-in-1 sets. It and the ski lift were a big challenge for me this year. I'm not a master builder by any means, but it was a lot of fun putting it together. The lodge is pretty crammed full on the inside with a sitting area, cafe area, and ski rental spot. Here is the front of the lodge with some skis being delivered, car by @de-marco: Inside the lodge: Little coffee shop inside: Ski rentals and lockers: Hitting the slopes: I purchased some of the Friends ski related sticker sheets to help around the resort, like here at the ski lift operator shack: These are the Friends Ski Chalet sets that have been recolored. Thanks to @Cheatay for the LDDs to get these started: Taking a ride on the ski lift. Unfortunately, no the ski lift is not operational. That would be ideal and may be one day in the future but I will have to get a lot better at the technic side of MOCs. The chair design was inspired by @twigman Sitting atop the ski slopes of course is the North Pole: Now heading into town we have the Winter Station that I expanded: Coming home for Christmas: Christmas tree farm: Carolers: Creator 3-in-1 sets in the holiday spirit. This is my first Moc after coming out of the Dark Age. I have always loved winter and Christmas and I am very happy to have spent two years building this village; unfortunately the time available is always little and I can put some bricks only a couple of times a month. I've been offline for ages, and thought what better way to break my hiatus than with 24 consecutive days of posting?! And it's December 1st! Well, at least here in Australia it is. My kids have got their official Lego Advent Calendars, but what's a castle fan to do? Since there's been no castle theme for years I decided to make my own Advent Calendar. And because I'm such a shameless Viking enthusiast, it's going to be a Viking one! Now much like the 2008 "Castle" and 2010 "Kingdoms" Advent Calendars (sets 7979 and 7952), mine isn't terribly Christmassy. They were really just an excuse to get a bunch of minifigs and minibuilds, and that's perfectly fine with me! Mine will just fit in with the ongoing efforts towards my Viking Village display. So without further ado, let's kick things off with: DAY 1 - Berserker Perhaps a bit of an angry start to the season, or maybe he's just stressed about spending the holidays with the in-laws? DAY 2 - Woodchopping Ah, now the Berserker has something to do with his axes! *CHOP CHOP* DAY 3 - Farm boy This young lad has the eggcellent job of collecting eggs! Ah, I crack myself up... no more silly yolks please... Day 4 - Toy boat When he's not working on the farm, the young lad enjoys playing with his toy boat. Day 5 - Old woodcarver An old villager carves wooden figures - maybe statues of the Norse gods? Day 6 - Campfire A simple build technique that's been done before, but now our hungry woodcarver can cook himself up a tasty meal! Day 7 - Blacksmith I think it's fair to say that no Lego Castle line is complete without a blacksmith! Day 8 - Anvil and grindstone Because the smith needs somewhere to work his elemental magic, doesn't he? Day 9 - Maiden Some traditional Scandinavian hospitality as this young maiden welcomes visitors to the village with some delicious freshly baked bread! Day 10 - Barrel o' mead The hospitality doesn't stop at bread! Skål! Day 11 - Pig farmer Home again, home again, jiggety-jig! Day 12 - Haystack A very, very simple build today - just three bricks! But you can stick the underside of a brick onto the end of the pitchfork. So at least it gives yesterday's farmer something to do besides chase that pig around all day! Day 13 - Apiary Hooray, more work for the farmer to do! A couple of beehives (which I made before the new beehive element was unveiled!) Day 14 - Huscarl Personal retainer and bodyguard to the Jarl, he takes his work very seriously. Day 15 - Banner stand Only five parts in this simple build, but I think it looks pretty cute. Plus it gives the huscarl something to stand next to so he can feel important! Day 16 - Cheese table More hospitality and winter feasting with a table full of interesting chesses. Day 17 - Noblewoman One of my custom prints, the noblewoman carries the household keys on her belt. Her cat makes sure the cheese table remains rat-free! Day 18 - Runestone A stone raised as a marker, inscribed with pictures and runes telling of great deeds and the like. If this were a real official Lego set, I'd like to see the surfaces of sloped bricks printed with the inscription! Day 19 - Sacred tree A bit small to be a mighty oak tree, but nevertheless it's part of a sacred grove in the forest outside our viking village. Some wild herbs and a mushroom grow in its shade. Day 20 - Sage And who worships in the sacred grove? Who collects the wild medicinal herbs? The village sage does! Day 21 - Jarl's weapon rack It's a rack. For weapons. Belonging to the Jarl. Day 22 - Jarl's armour rack It's another rack. For... oh you can figure it out! Day 23 - Jarl's throne Sitting. The great leveler. From the mightiest pharaoh to the lowliest peasant, who doesn’t enjoy a good sit? Day 24 - The Jarl Who didn't see this coming after the past few days?! A good jarl would rule not by force, but with the support of his followers. He is a strong leader, an inspirational speaker, and a fierce warrior; generous with his food, drink, and coin.

The countdown is on! Only 25 more days until Christmas. I love advent calendars and wanted to create a larger Lego one this year. Each day brings a new character to fill Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole. On day one Jessica Claus welcomes you to the North Pole with a delicious tray of treats. The inside is ready for the elves and other Santa helpers to aid Santa get ready for Christmas. There are three fully furnished floors. The first floor is command central where the elves and other helpers can track Santa on his travels around the world on Christmas Eve. An extra large Christmas tree reaches into the second floor. Lots of magic and hard work happens on the second floor, which has a window greenhouse growing poinsettias of course and the workshop with toys, musical instruments and sports gear for children around the world. The third floor is the place where the elves, helpers and Santa get to relax and dine after their busy holiday season. Hope you enjoy and I will try to update daily as the building fills. So I decided to create a Coca Cola Christmas Truck for my Winter Village, and this is the result. Took the Lego Truck as a basis and modified that design to fit my own goal. I think it turned out well :).

I've been doing a lot of custom Winter Village MOCs over the past year, and this is my ninth! I wanted to try something a bit different, so I took my inspiration from a Christmas classic - How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The model includes the Grinch's DIY sleigh with overstuffed sack of presents (with credit to Peter Aoun for the method of attaching the 'antler'!), a Whoville House (with wiggly wavy architecture and crazy colourscheme that gave me a lot of headaches trying to get it to look right, haha - square bricks can certainly make the shapes needed tricky!), and a late addition that I have to thank the Eurobricks Xmas Raffle for (that thread gave me the idea to add this extra!) - a crooked 'Grinchmas Tree'. It's 7 weeks till Christmas week from now and you know what that means? Tis Christmas Train season coming up quickly! Some of you may remember me setting up a little train layout in my office last year. All colleagues loved it very much and so this year me and some colleagues are expanding the office train for this year! Compared to last year the new office train will be about 60% more track, 70% more cars and can carry more than 50% more "real cargo" than last years train! This year's office train will feature the following: - T-Shaped 9V layout with 3 stations (calling at 3 different desks, so everyone in this particular office has access to the train) - 4 Track wide cargo cerminal and card - 20m of track length in total - 16 cars in total - Original Santa Fe Super Chief Engine upgraded with the original light brick - Candy wagon for storing and transporting real eatable candy - Band wagon for transporting a bluetooth speaker and stage for the BrickBand - PF shunting engine for the Power Functions yard - A small handcar (this is an inside joke with colleagues) - Winter Holiday Train which I built yesterday I'm super excited - construction will begin this week. We'll see how far we can build it during lunch breaks. Pictures will follow shortly after! But to get me started, I have a couple of questions: How does one operate a 9V layout with two transformers? Do they plug in parallel (i.e. exactly the same way on both transformers)? What power settings do I use when running a train with two 9V motors (power setting the same on both transformers)? Do I have to unplug one of them if I run a smaller train with only one 9V motor, or do I just not bring up power on one of them? Thanks in advance for answering my questions! Is it just me, or, now that I'm getting ready to set up my Winter Village stuff, does the Friends Snow Resort line look like they're only a few alterations (and a bit of stripping out the pink) away from fitting in nicely alongside the Winter Village sets? This is more pertinent to the Chalet and Ice Rink sets than the Ski Lift and Off-Roader. What does everyone think? EDIT: And the Hot Chocolate Van! I completely forgot the Van . . which is more of a take it or leave it set for Winter Village applications, depending on what time period you picture your Village in (and how much you like hit chocolate).
