This is the facade of the city hall in Leiden, Netherlands. Itβs a beautiful building that I often pass by on my bike. The faΓ§ade features rich decorations, sandstones and ornaments such as garlands, pilasters, and sculpted details. In other words, recreating something like this is absolutely amazing! (I was torn between Train Tech and Town forums for this thread, so if it needs moving - don't hesitate to move it, mods!) Recently a Flickr user named elijahleestewart commented on one of my riverboat pictures asking about me making a Ninjago ferry from season 4. I said I already had City set 60119 (Ferry) and was not interested in making another. But this conversation got wheels turning, and about two hours later I came up with this vessel you see here, which was made by tearing apart my original Ferry to revise it. The port / left side of the vessel. From here you can see the ladder to access the bridge. The starboard (or right side). The opening gates no longer fold down (as in the original set 60119), but they do split apart to allow train cars to be loaded two at a time. You can load two of the bigger cars (24 or 28 studs long), three 16-long cars, or a single 34 stud long depressed center car on this ferry or you can mix and match. (The last 34 stud long car type is too long to have two of it's kind on there, but it can fit one 34 long and another of anything shorter than that such as a 16, 24 or 28.) The roof section of the bridge is removable to place figures at the controls. Another source of inspiration was the Albatross, a former Vicksburg-area railroad ferry from 1907 that was converted to a St. Louis river cruising ship (one of the largest vessels ever on the river) called the Admiral in the late 1930's which then became a casino and then was sadly scrapped in 2011. You can read about the Admiral here on Wikipedia, and view a picture of the Albatross on Flickr here, courtesy of the Herman T. Pott National Inland Waterways Library. (You can loose a few hours perusing through steamboats on that Flickr page!) ...That's all I got. Thoughts, comments, opinions, and questions welcome!

Hey hey! First time posting over in the pirate's forum, as I'm usually over posting in historic themes. This was a quick 2 day build that I did recently for a gift exchange with some friends. C&C welcome. :) To Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior be the glory!

Hi Friends, Happy New Year! Wanted to share a new modular building I have completed over the holidays. This model combines the facades of two LEGO Friends sets that I've collected; 41093 Heartlake Hair Salon and 42618 Heartlake City Cafe. This will go on a street of Miami/Florida esque modular buildings that also use the MILS standard. -The 41093 was put towards a single story building on the modular standard before, but I wanted to revamp it, make it sturdier, and simplify the color palette. Also, since this was built 9 years ago, the parts palette is much larger for this new build. -The barber shop/hair salon comes with: waiting room, cash desk, haircut area, shampoo and blowdry stations - Due to the abundance of cafes, I decided for something different with the 42618's facade. Since the color scheme has a Wynwood vibe to it, I went with making it a tattoo shop and private office. This was also adapted to two stories and includes some masonry bricks in the Spring Yellowish Green color that I was able to acquire in bulk. The details are just improvisational and minimal, but the essential stuff is there. Here's a video explaining the design & details and some high-res pics showing the exterior and interior! Enjoy, and I hope this inspires similar and better creations from you all! \

Next project (while I wait for my Cabover Truck Bricklink orders to come in) is a Unimog camper. I like to use the bigger doors for my truck creations and all online MOCs used the small door so this is a complete new build. Also I have lots of LEGO service packs with the blue train doors and windows so blue it is: Inside has toilet/shower, overhead cupboard, oven and hot plates, fridge and seat/table that converts to a bed. Still have to design fuel tank, batteries, jerry cans for underside. Here is the render so far.

I have just finished building my food truck empire. 8 USA based food trucks and 8 Italian based Piaggio Ape food/drink/toy selling trucks. Donut Food Truck: Piaggio Ape Wood Fired Pizza Truck: Has a LEGO light brick installed to simulate the pizza oven glow. Popcorn truck: The popcorn machine is from the polybag set so the corn can bounce by inserting finger thru rear door and tapping lever. Piaggio Ape Coffee Truck: Coffee machine this side. Coffee bean grinder and top opening milk fridge. With doors down.

After taking some time off from Moccing, it's finally time to present my latest MOC! This modular building represents a traditional small german brewery as you can still find them in a lot of villages and towns all over the country - a village brewery, or "Dorfbrauerei" in german :). The brewery features the various tanks and coops required for the brewing process, a small bar/restaurant and a cosy beer garden outside - where a mighty old tree offers welcome shade in the summer time! The MOC sits on a 32x32 baseplate and is fully modular. Despite its rather small size, it consists of almost 3000 pieces - around 600 alone were required to build the tree! Let me take you on a quick tour through and around the building - more pictures can be found on flickr The attic. The annex with the brewery itself features fully brick-built windows. When the tree is otherwise occupied, you can get a better view of the facade facing the beer garden ;) Hope my 'small' MOC brings you as much joy as it brought me when building it! Cheers, Tobias

The grand opera house was alive with the energy of the dress rehearsal. Alex, the director, was giving final instructions to Maria, the soprano, and Luca, the baritone. Michael, the conductor, raised his baton, and David, the pianist, began the overture, his fingers dancing over the keys. Isabella, the woman with a double bass, adjusted her instrument, ready to play. From the balcony, Clara, the opera review writer, observed everything with keen interest. As Maria and Luca's voices filled the auditorium in a beautiful duet, a small commotion started in the loft above the stage. Michael noticed it first, his eyes widening as he tried to keep his focus on conducting. Suddenly, a spider descended from the loft, dangling right in front of Maria. She let out a small yelp but continued singing, her professionalism shining through. Alex, trying to keep the mood light, whispered to the cast, "Looks like we have a new critic in the house!" The entire cast and crew burst into laughter, even Clara couldn't help but chuckle from her spot in the balcony. The spider, seemingly unimpressed with the performance, scurried back up to the loft, leaving everyone in good spirits. As the final notes echoed through the hall, Alex clapped his hands, signaling the end of the rehearsal. The cast and crew exchanged relieved smiles, knowing they had delivered a performance worthy of the grand stage, spider and all. *** Hello, I love architecture and I decided to design an opera house to Bricklink Designer Program Series 6: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-6/2215/The-Opera---Dress-rehearsal My inspiration came from the opera houses of Budapest and Vienna. I tried to add many typical details, and decorations such as a combination of an arcade and a balcony on the front facade, statues, dormer windows, a brick-built light pole, light on the rear facade, planter etc.. The roof assembly and the auditorium balcony are removable and a big part of the rear wall is openable to make the interior space accessible. The foyer includes a bar combined with a box office, and a staircase to the auditorium and facade balconies. In the theatre there are a stage with a scenery and curtain, an orchestra with a brick-built grand piano, and an auditorium with balcony. All doors works. I prefer the brick built solutions to keep the flexibility of the used parts in further builds, therefore stickers are not used. The set includes 10 minifigures including the two gray statues on the facade and two animals. Dimensions of the building: Width: 34.1 studs / 10.7 in / 27.3 cm Length: 50.9 studs / 16.0 in / 40.7 cm Height: 29.2 studs / 9.2 in / 23.3 cm I hope you enjoy this set. Here is my review on LEGO City 60423 Downtown Streetcar and Station: THE GOOD: Very nicely down cafe/kiosk roof. The tram/street car do look good. The adjustable platform is fun. THE NOT SO GOOD: The head and tail basically identical, splitting build in separate instruction feel unnecessary. A set with a tram while not being a full blown train set. Bought this not for the tram originally but for the new minifigure head with sunglasses on. Despite the build of the tram's head and tail are identical, overall it was a fun build. The colour scheme and the trams, I do think these look good. I do wonder when LEGO is going to make sliding doors happening on trains rather than how you traditionally open door. One thing did bother me was that all 3 cars are connected, but it does look like not all 3 cars are linked and the minifigures can move around the tram. In term of the station, I really like the care/kiosk, the roof is a very cool looking build. The platform is also smartly done and an action features to make hoping onto the tram easier. The minifigures line-up is a bit disappointing given only 1 minifigure has new head part. But this minifigure do look nice, as the head is not just designed to represent the visually impaired but can also be a general guy wearing glasses. This set also includes a guide dog. This is a set I like but also feel like something missing. While this set doesn't break the bank but I still recommend you wait and observe to get the max discount on this set. If you previously owns LEGO tracks due to buying LEGO trains, this is a set for you. Although there are flaws, still a good sets \.

Nocturnus - Settlement Index Description Nocturnus is home to an array of peculiar places, not in the last place due to its equally diverse population. This settlement index explores the many communities of Nocturnus, to aid those who seek to visit, trespass or find a place to settle in the Darklands. It may serve as a practical reference guide for building in or writing about a certain settlement. It provides a basic set of architectural, geographic and/or demographic background characteristics per settlement. Notes The described characteristics and features are an interpretation of what is seen and written in the build topic threads (in the first post). The given characteristics do NOT dictate what future builds of a settlement should look like; nothing is set in stone. What is considered in this index as a 'settlement' is determined by the sum of existing builds and lore; it is not defined by strict (build) requirements from the HSS. Settlements appearing on the map of Nocturnus automatically qualify to be indexed here. This topic will be updated to include more settlements, characteristics, builders, etc., based on newly posted topics. You can leave a comment below to bring new builds of indexed settlements under attention. The Map of Nocturnus Special Status Settlements Abyssian *Former Capital* Abyssian Castle is located at the centre of Nocturnian peninsula, in the Moruth Swamplands. Hello to everyone! Today I would like to introduce my new modular:it is precisely a medieval driveway door placed on a baseplate with the road. On the ground floor there is the passage for cars that is narrower than the roadway and for this reason it has an alternating one-way system with the traffic light and signs indicating the prescribed speed and the bottleneck. The medieval gates have remained in place, probably restored and still functioning. Above the arch of the door there is a sculpture of a lion's head and the spotlights that illuminate the facade. On the right side there is the bell tower, used to sound the alarm in case of danger. Through the tower there is the pedestrian passage, also in this case the door with its locking system has remained. Inside, a pair of birds has nested and along the corridor there are several medieval coats of arms. Once outside above the door we can find a niche with a votive statuette. On this side there is also a cantilevered room with a wall that I imagined built in terracotta rather than stone like the rest of the building. Here I applied a sort of decoration with oblique tiles clearly inspired by the roof of Rivendell. On this side, above the portal I placed the coat of arms of a lion in a two-tone square and the usual spotlights to illuminate the facade. On the other side of the road there is a gate that gives access to the stairs that lead to the stands and the upper floor for possible tourist visits. Above is a room where the men-at-arms took shelter when necessary, there is a large fireplace that they used for cooking and warming up and the stairs to access the upper floor that have the typical central wear of very old stone stairs. Beyond the fireplace is a long room with a walled up door. Taking the stairs you access the top floor of the door. The battlements suggest that once the building ended with the terrace, but later the battlements were closed and the roof was built by adding another fireplace. On this floor you access the rope to operate the bell. Several construction techniques particularly excited me during the creation of the building. The first concerns the closing system of the doors. One thing I have often noticed is that during the Middle Ages, to allow a quick closing of very heavy doors, they misaligned the hinges. In this way the door remained tilted when it was open while when it needed to be closed, it was enough to move it and it closed almost by the force of gravity alone. The second one is about the round structure of the tower. I needed a rather small tower, maximum 7 studs wide and I had no choice but to try to do something new (I think). So by alternating and rotating modified bricks with the stud on the side, I somehow managed to obtain a structure that is not too uniform and variegated while still keeping it quite solid. The third one is about the roof built with two slopes using a relatively new piece, βBar 1L with Angled Hollow Studβ. With this detail in mind I thought about the truss structure and built the boarding and the rest of the roof on top. The last one is the bell that I tried to make as in reality with the wooden counterweight to which it is fixed. Unfortunately I couldn't take any pictures because my camera is under repair. As soon as I get a chance, I'll upload them to the Flickr gallery. https://www.flickr.com/photos/kevin8/albums/72177720320925725/with/54046552451

Hi EB followers. I've finished my most recent build. Predictably its another Art-Deco/Streamlined hotel building but I figured its been a few years since the last so I've had time to refine my ideas! It's called the Deluxe hotel and it's taken a couple of months to finalise due the constant changing of ideas in my mind in how I wanted it to look. It's not directly based of any paricular hotel but incorporates elements of many ones found in South Florida. Only a couple of images to show, the interior is quite shallow so I didn't bother with an interior this time. Anyway, comments and questions as always welcomed! You can find the images on my flickr here if you prefer. Regards! Andrew

My own take on the 60430 Interstellar Spaceship. I wanted to keep the original play feature of the "battery" opening the main drive, which I thought was a cool ability.

Hello! I am excited to share my car ferry MOC here on Euro bricks. I loved the Lego set 60119 that came out a few years ago, I thought it was a fantastic little build and a great addition to my town display. I got to thinking though that it would be amazing if I could fit more than 1-2 cars on the ferry, the playability would be much more elevated and add to the realism. I went on to create a ferry to fit 6 wide vehicles which were the norm a while back. 8 wide will fit too but just not as many. It is not based on any particular real-life ship, but has inspiration from many smaller island and tour ferrys that I have been on. I chose a lively color scheme to compliment the build, but also to utilize bricks that are not super rare. I unfortunately only have renders to share currently, as I tore apart the physical model to create the digital model and instructions! I never got around to taking photos, which I will fix in the future for sure. The model was definitely built in the brick to verify sturdiness and structure, it is quite solid. Features: Folding loading doors front and rear Mechanical room A pilot house with removable roof openable doors life preservers seating for passengers winding anchors A cheery but rough looking crew You can find this model on Rebrickable if you want to build a version yourself:) I have had requests for an 8 wide vehicle version, and may consider releasing instructions for a larger version in the future if there is enough interest. Let me know! I personally think it would be amazing, but it would become enormous. Flickr site link for additional photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/201489097@N08/albums/with/72177720320371570

Here is my review on LEGO City 60425 Jungle Explorer Water Plane: THE GOOD: The water plane is great with space to fit 2 minifigs and some good use of parts to create the shape and design. 2 crocs and 1 baby croc THE NOT SO GOOD: Couldn't find anything specific to this set. Finally by buying this, I've completed all 4 maps. And this set is actually pretty nice. The water plane is done quite well with great use of parts to create exterior designs. And able to fit both minifigures in the plane is great. Also I like the fact they include not just one but 2 crocodiles, plus a new baby crocodile. The little swamp area does look small compared to other sets in the theme but you can always combine with other sets if you have them. Really couldn't think of anything that is not so good specifically to this set. If you like collecting LEGO animals and want to complete the bigger jungle map without waiting for Pick a Brick, this is a nice little set for you. Especially, you can get at least 20% off mostly.

Hello, long time no see? Well, since I have other hobbies too and I was busy with work and such, I had to put on hiatus my Lego city. Now I've fount the time to celebrate in an appropriate way the 20th aniversary of my city diorama. A few years ago I built a second diorama, trains only, put in the attic (since in my apartment there isn't enough space for both). Now, I've moved (temporary) the train diorama and united to the city one, buildg my BIGGEST DIORAMA EVER! 4 sq. meters, 64 baseplates including all the buildingsbuilt so far, and they are all MOCs!

Here is my review on LEGO City 60426 Jungle Explorer Off-Road Truck: THE GOOD: The Tiger habitat build is great with some nice small details and looks great on its own. The truck build is very refreshing. THE NOT SO GOOD: If you already own sets from this sub-theme, the minifigures selection can feel repetitive. My road to complete the map for Jungle Exploring continues. Originally, only plan to get the tiger when it becomes available from PAB but recently discovered the map from each of the sets from this sub-theme are actually connected, with a 20% off deal, why not getting this as well. Turns out, this set is pretty good. I really like the Tiger habitat, it looks great on its old and fairly detailed. Plus you can connect with other location builds from the same sub-theme. I already connected 3 of theme and the outcome is great. The brand new tiger also looks great but it does feel a little bit too orange. The truck is actually pretty refreshing, originally I thought it's going to be just very generic build but it actually built in a way that at least I have never experienced before. I particularly like recent trend of using small tiles to create exterior patterns. The minifigures are good but if you bought other sets like me then it does feel a bit repetitive but still great minifigures though. At 55NZD RRP, with a discount, makes this a very great set. I do recommend this set if you are into LEGO animals and wants to complete the map.

Here is my review on LEGO City 60440 LEGO Delivery Truck: THE GOOD: Great build with many interesting details. Looks great and it's massive. The key panels and lego sets are all printed. THE NOT SO GOOD: none. When this was first announced, I thought I must get this if the lego tiles are printed. And it does not disappoint, the big panels and all lego sets are all printed. It has a great building experience, given the piece count and size it also allows some very interesting details. And this is one massive truck, it's very long like the Orient Express Carriage long. It also comes with lots of cool details, like the openable bonnet, driver resting area and a trailer will full opening panels. A similar forklift like the one from the Grocery store makes the transport of crates of LEGO sets into/out from the truck easy and fun. The side hot dog stand is also a very detailed little build. With only 4 minifigures, it does feel it can include more. The minifigures while not striking but has some interesting details. Like the truck driver has the LEGO factory uniform. At 180NZD, this is not a cheap set, in fact the price was the reason holding me off from buying this on day one due to budget constraint. Now with a 20% discount, it does make the set way more accessible. Having said that even at full price, I think the printed element and the overall details in this set do justify the price. It's definitely a recommendation from me.

Thought this might be of interest to anyone creating their own City layout or anyone who wants roads to go alongside their modular buildings or city vehicles. I decided to have a go at creating my own road plates as a substitute to the standard ones that Lego produce. You can find PDF patterns available online for printing roads but instead of using those I designed these myself as I wanted them to look pretty close to the real thing. I then used a high quality digital laser printer and printed them on to 400gsm card which is the same stuff often used by commercial printers for printing business cards. Each one is cut to the same size as a standard 32x32 base plate and I rounded the corners which helps to prevent them from getting bent or damaged. The finished roads are quite thick and sturdy but they are thin enough that the edges can be tucked under the base plates on Modulars and other buildings which helps to hold them in place. They can also be overlapped which is useful for fitting around awkward sized buildings that don't fit the standard 32x32 size. I produced quite a few of these and just like the official Lego road plates, they can be arranged in many ways to create different road layouts. They don't have quite the same appeal as the real thing but I'm pretty pleased with the end result. Considering the cost to make these was a tiny fraction of what Lego charge for real road plates, I think this is a good cheap alternative that works well for anyone who hasn't got the space for a large permanent layout. Below are some pictures of my printed roads being used on a small tabletop City layout. Let me know what you think. **EDIT** Please scroll to the bottom of page 1 to see my second attempts at creating a more realistic road design.

Here is my review on LEGO City 60437 Jungle Explorer Helicopter at Base Camp: THE GOOD: The Gorillas are great and comes in two! The jungle area is good and customisable. Some interesting new parts like the new map, extra short coaster track and a few minifigures torsos. THE NOT SO GOOD: The Helicopter is massive in size but lack interior details. Bought this with 30% off deal and for the Gorillas. The Gorillas are great, although they do look small in comparison to other large land animals in other sets. The jungle area is very detailed and compatible with other sets in the same wave. There is a nice flower at the back of it but after seeing how certain pieces were used in the Creator Tiger, it does make me think ... lol. The minifigures are great if you haven't buy any of the previous sets on the Arctics exploration as they are the same team, so if you have them from the other waves then you might find them repetitive. I especially like the pilot's torso. In terms of the Helicopter, it's very big and have nice exterior details. Interesting builds to create some of the action features too but to allow one of the key play feature (storing the base camp) this means the interior details are sacrificed. With $180 NZD retail price down in NZ, this set is not cheap. I would only recommend this set, if you can't wait for the Gorillas to be available in cheaper way and you find a decent discount. Of course if you like helicopter, this may be a set for you.

Cafe CoCo. A European inspired corner building with a Cafe and apartments above. I thought I'd try and build something smaller and I'd be done quicker - how wrong I was! Gave me an excuse to have another go at a window technique I'd not used for a few years along with a different themed roof. As usual they can also be found on my Flickr page here Regards!

My model is a city bus with New York City MTA livery. I have put more detail on this model comparing to the lego buses in current or past city sets. The reason to build this bus is to provide Lego fans specially to kids to have a Lego bus with the more realistic look. Bus is a popular vehicle type among children. I remember when I was a child, I always wanted to own a great looking lego bus. I believe I am not the only one who has same wish. I submit the project to LEGO Ideas. More pictures can be seen in the Lego Ideas link. I also uploaded the tutorial video to Youtube. I hope you like it and support my project.
