Destroyer Droids have been curiously inaccurate in the way they have been portrayed in LEGO sets. Specifically, the weapon arms are attached in the wrong place, which I feel removes some of the menace of these rapid-rolling, Republic-resistant droids. Originally. LEGO had their blasters mounted on the droids' bases: The 'actual' droids had their blasters mounted on arms emerging from their shoulders (link to Google image search), which I sought to recreate. Various arm iterations were required to not only mount the weapons in the correct place but to correct the other crucial problem with the original, namely that the blasters could only be pointed off into space, not aimed at anything at ground-level. After a lot of clipping, I finally found a solution that captured the look to my liking: The blaster-pairs aren't horizontal, as in the films, but this was a compromise I was willing to settle for. Arms done, the body needed just a little work and the intimidation grew: This is getting much closer to the droid I'm looking for: It even rolls better: After completing these improvements, I went looking for other people's work on these wonderful droids and particularly like the work done to extend the brown curve around the droid's back, further enhancing their accuracy. Having said that, many of the modified droids still suffer from not being able to aim the blasters in three planes. One thing that isn't widely used, and which I did particularly want to keep, was LEGO's use of the two barrel pistol/binocular combo. It was introduced way back in 2011 for Alien Conquest as the ADU weapon-of-choice (the theme closest to my heart, despite them being no match for Droidekas) so it is a shame that it didn't find its way into the 'hands' of Star Wars' Destroyers until 2015's 75092. At the end of 2016 I built this detailed Droideka out of Lego, Brickarms, and Brickforge parts. Droideka by Detroitika, on Flickr The only modified parts are the tips of the blasters. They used to be an old dark gray antenna which I received broken in a garage sale lot. I cut it into four equal lengths and drilled a hole in each. No other Lego, discounting some cut flex tube, was harmed. I tried to build an interior like the Trade Federation ship from Episode I., but tried to light the picture like the interior of The Invisible Hand (Grievous' ship) from Episode III. Hope you enjoy!

I had actually built these over a year ago, but it just hit me today that I never posted them online. I was aiming to find a balance between something that's close to minifig scale, albeit without sacrificing detail and functionality. It was the advent of part 26047 Plate, Modified 1 x 1 Rounded with Handle that enabled me to build these so that the front legs can rotate inward when switching to the rolling mode. I have six completed droidekas that I decided to pose at different angles alongside a B1 and B2 battle droid for reference. I will provide a parts list and breakdown if requested.

A few months ago I started a MOC for the Hothbricks vignette contest, where the goal was to create a 16x16 (with variable dimensions) vignette of a scene in the Star Wars universe. I planned to make a MOC of the very first scene of TPM (it could actually be the third scene, I don't remember, who watched that movie? ) But I was a few days too late comleting it, so taking pictures took me some more time than usual Here are some of my favorite pics of it: "Master, you were right about one thing: these negotiations were short" - Obi-Wan Kenobi - Some pics without minifigs & all the action I tried to recreate the scene as accurate as possible. everything is there I think, I used reference pics from this site. floor pattern gravity-attached. hinged walls wriction-attached, they sit quite well. For this, I also liked to make a quite symmetrical and not all that awful back those technic liftarms are to keep the bricks between the arches together, they are quite stressed The neck brackets are there to hide the half-stud gabs Droideka: First I wanted to make a realistic design for my droideka, but then I realised there are already some pretty good designs online, I decided to make a more simple design, trying to improve TLG's awful design from the battle packs, while using only parts from that set and common parts. I came up with the left one, I think I did a pretty good job. But when I saw Lars' design, I just had to borrow his technique for the head just for this. Today is so so boring, so i gather all my creations' pictures and post them. XD! Without a doubt, this topic is about free building. i have lots of ideas but i can't post them all, because making a post takes me more than one hour... And I actually post eight of my creations. i hope you guys can type some comments and help me improve my building skill. Thanks!! First, Steampunk Mech/Walker This one is inspired by the 30230 Mini Mech and 70722 Overborg's walker. And no extra piece left. Second, Sea Monster It looks cute, isn't it!! No extra piece!! Third, battle cannons Let's battle!! No extra piece!! Forth, water mech-dragon v.s. submarine Lovely head it gets No extra piece. Fifth, tower cannon v.s. samurai kai Eye of Sauron fights against a ninja!? No extra piece! Sixth, battle mech v.s. stealer mech Lots of action it can do!! No extra piece. Seventh, cannon turtle and iron anteater Anteater is better... No extra piece. Eighth, half mantis... due to the limited pieces Mantis' claws!! With two extra pieces......... Plus, can anyone tell me how to make a vote?? i want to see which one is the best... -
