For those of you who don't know, the department store Sears (remember them?) used to sell homes through mail order catalogs as do-it-yourself kits from 1908 to 1942. Over the years, they had 370 styles available, and ~70,000 homes were built over that timeframe. They had optional extras for each style including electricity, indoor plumbing, central heating, and telephone hookup. You can read more and even flip through numerous catalogs here on Wikipedia. The house I've made is not based on any specific model or year, but it *looks* like a 1920s / 1930s kit house to me, so thus it became one. This house is a super heavily modified version of a Brick City Depot design, specifically this Winter Village house that I bought instructions for over a decade ago. I updated the design quite a bit, while leaving enough of the early-2010's charm of the original MOC. I also added a much-needed back half to the model with stairs to the upper level and a chimney. The building folds open dollhouse style. Inside the front we have the entryway / foyer, and living room, with bedroom upstairs. In the back we have the dining room and stairway, all with the proper furniture for each room. The modular footprint is removable from the building. I like the late-1930s car from 2015 San Diego Comic Con set 'Action Comics 1 - Superman', but don't particularly like the colors - or the insane price! So I used the instructions and built my own version in dark blue. The car has a number of changes from the set, but it still seats one figure at the wheel. The rear of the car. This updated version of my 2023 MOC of the UP house - set 43217 (and a back half addition I found on Rebrickable by user rykfield) features a new removable modular footprint. The green Studebaker is also new. This version of the house folds open and locks shut on a Technic pin. I built the house's rear half from some movie-accurate instructions on Rebrickable, as seen here. The rear half of the house. The lower floor features a living room, foyer, and dining room while the upper floor features a bedroom and music room. This is the inside of the front half of the building. Most of the furniture seen in these two pictures is recolored from the Friends 'Downtown Flower shop and Furniture Store' (set 41732) along with a few pieces from the 'Moving Truck GWP' ( set 40586) and the original UP house itself. The removable modular base without the house. It features a birdbath, driveway, and opening gate. This car's bullet-nose front end was inspired by the look of the 1950 / 51 Studebaker Commander while the color scheme and rear bodywork were inspired by a old Indiana Jones MOC by @hachiroku. The rear has two coverings partially obscuring the rear wheels, in true '50's elegance. The roof comes off to place a figure at the wheel and in the backseat. This mini fig (the owner of house and car) is modeled after my Great Uncle Jack. (the family just calls him Uncle Jack) He's an ex-Marine, Korean War vet, and tough as nails with razor-sharp wit. Yet he's also the nicest, most friendly man you'll ever meet. NOTE: Sorry for the dark colors of the photos. My phone hates taking pictures of things that are blue and / or green. I had three different light sources, and it still turns out too dark! Thoughts?

Hey, I'd like to present my latest creation, the Microscale Townhouses! I usually build in minifigure scale, so it was quite challenging for me to build in microscale this time, but I had so much fun designing this model. Halloween House on LEGO Ideas I am very excited to present this Halloween house. Although it is large, I tried to control the volume of pieces. There are 2700 pieces and the interior is fully decorated. I wanted architecture in the tradition of large Victorian houses, those that Stephen King describes so well in his novels. The house is run down and done and I wanted to keep it looking realistic and a little dirty. Dimensions Height = 15.0" (38 cm) Lengh : 21.0" (53 cm) Width : 11.6" (29.4 cm)

This model was built from a single picture of 2024 Friends set 42638 - Castle Bed and Breakfast. I made the model in my own style, while attempting to keep the proportions of the set. I gave it a fold open back, and had to redesign the turret-area as I had no clue how they assembled it in the set. The official roof was likewise unfamiliar territory at the time, so I originally improvised a new one using bricks and slopes. (which was a total pain) Since the set's instructions came out, I replaced the roof with the one from the set. The early-1930's Duesenberg SJ seen out front of the house is based off the car seen in Indiana Jones set 7682 - Shanghai Chase - from the 2009 Temple of Doom line. I updated the car's look with parts not available 15 years ago, and added a hardtop roof among other things. The rear isn't too exciting: I added a back door, and added a chimney by the turret up front. The building is also removable from the modular base so it can open up. The ground floor features the living and dining rooms. The ground floor near the stairs features a telephone and painting. The second floor features a writing desk along with a table and lamp. Inside the upper part of the rear half featuring the stairwell. (There isn't much to say about this bit.) The third floor features the bedroom and bathroom. The front of the vehicle alongside the owner of both the house and car. The rear of the car. The car seats two figures inside the cabin. Comments, questions, and complaints welcome!

So, I've attempted my first Modular. I was limited by the bricks I have, (and a couple of bricks seem to have somehow fallen off), but it's the right dimensions to fit alongside the official Modular Buildings. Just wondering what thoughts/advice people may have to help me improve my modular building skills? So, here's the house And the people and animals who live there There's an open plan living area on the ground floor With a kitchen area A downstairs WC & a place to sit Going up the stairs, we reach the bedroom area There's an en suite shower & a balcony with Jaccuzzi From there, we can access the roof terrace Where the minifigures like to hold barbecue parties I used transparent coloured bricks where appropriate to let in light but retain privacy

My 5th entry for the Colossal Castle Contest, into the Village Life category. Credit for the pine tree design goes to Chris Maddison, who recently shared his design in a tutorial here. The build fits on a 48×48 baseplate, and three of the buildings have interiors (pull out rooms). Daydelon has plenty of excellent shops to meet your various needs. Brianna’s Bakery, Tryggr’s Supplies, and the Toy Shop are all located on the first stretch of the main street. Even in the winter the city keeps bustling, with the frozen river providing a great place for children to skate and the snow covered streets still see plenty of traffic from dog sleds and others. 41037 Stephanie's Beach House was a Friends set from 2014. I've modded the building in order to have a full interior by using two of them back to back. This is a WIP and I'll update when I have more to it.

Originally, 4996 Beach House didn't have a back to it, although I did like the design of it. I've modded the building in order to have a full interior by expanding behind it. This is a WIP and I'll update when I have more to it. I'm planning on a living room with a fire place, kitchen/dining room, and bathroom on the first floor with two bedrooms on the second floor. There will possibly be an attic space above - haven't worked that detail out yet.

Hi Folks, I recently finished my 1st MOC ever and would like to present it here. I hope there are some of you who still enjoy looking at walls in strange angles :-) The cartoony style is done by purpose and I didn't aim for realism. The Front - Fantasy medieval like house front - Lego MOC by Ralf Langer, auf Flickr It features some twisted, huge trees, discoloured bricks and taxing techniques. I'm so glad it is finally finished. It was a little bit to tall for a first MOC. I even planed to build a hill as a socket and a forest, too. But I totally underestimated size and weight. I tried to do it mostly by myself without looking at other MOCs and so It took me ages to fiddle out all thouse angles and techniques. Last Wednesday, September 6th, I was kindly granted an early entrance to the LEGO House with a camera and here's the resulting video. Please keep in mind that the House will have more to offer when it officially opens on September 28th, and that there was still some work in progress on several exhibits. My latest MOC is part of community winter-themed build. The goal was to brickbuild houses from Faller's catalog (or mimick their style for a unified look of village houses). I chose this house specifically for the timbered look. I found it attractive with the angled timbers, but had many diffuculties building it. In the end, I made some compromises, mostly due to easier transport and setup at the exhibition. The floor plan is 40 x 26 studs with the entrance sticking out a bit. The height of the building is 23 bricks. It is large for a minifig scale, but it was not possible to include all the hallmarks of the original. So just imagine the rooms inside with multiple beddings for hikers and climbers somewhere high in the Alps (there's no interiors, so let your imagination go wild). The original model has a much more detailed entrance. I intentionally built just a small porch, with steps covered with snow on the edges. The back and the sides of the building are similar with the repeating pattern. Since it's a winter-themed build, there's snow on the roof and window sills are empty. The flowers will be planted in the spring. My favourite detail are the horns just bellow the roof. It's not so clearly visible on the photos. Considering the size of the buildings, I am satisfied with how it turned out. There's definitely many shortages, such as the angled timbers (secured on the back with tape), a bit wobbly roof on Technic base (not an expert, so it's not as sturdy as it should be). I wanted it light and easy to transfer, so I awoided thicker walls to secure the angled tiles. However, I'm sure it will survive the transport to the exhibition.

As other tasks had already been occupied, we decided to add some more housing to New Haven. Build from solid stone that was found nearby, we decided that painting it would make it look best. Off course, everyone was complaining about us taking so long to finish up the roof - it seemed like they wanted the roof to collapse on their heads. This roof should last. I needed a use of my blue windows for a while now, and given that most of my bricks useful for projects like this are currently out of my reach, this was the obvious choice to build. The roof is also offset half a stud in each direction, but that isn't too clear in the picture sadly. To be licensed by Corrington for New Haven as a small Residence.

Hello! Here's new MOCs of my favourite Lego theme :) I keep the fingers crossed for next year because it's so inspiring series. First one is all about big fountain - I like that method when water is made with scattered small transperent pieces, so I decide to try it too :) Also there's tea room and greenhouse This I builded before. The Idea is expansion of Dragon Sanctuary set. I added counsil hall with elemental themed thrones. Also there was first floor cave, but it happend little chaotic so I don't include it here. -
This was one of those builds, that I started just because I wanted to build something, but somehow I managed to work it into a RPG challenge in the Lands of Mythron on MOCpages. I also added some pink because I'm a bit short on bley… (SHIP pictures coming soon hopefully). The tree is one of my favorite parts, and I tried to make the house different than my last one (https://www.flickr.c...posted-public/) by adding simple things like the protruding door and the window. Please tell me what you think! Criticism is always appreciated.

Probably not, but after reading(and watching) this thread you maybe want.. :) Cause my latest build i just finished is a hermit house, located in Nocturnus, somewhere in the mountains around Kyrrath... Well, Here are the pics: It was pretty fun and challenging to build, and sometimes kinda frustrating :c It actualy is sturdier than it looks it is.... This model is a modified CREATOR set called Lighthouse Point. (set number 31051) I removed the light-up brick and as such changed the top of the tower, along with tweaking the inside details and adding a custom Lighthouse keeper out of 1990's mini-figure parts. The model has modular parts out the wazoo, with a whopping 10 building sections. (their was one one more module from the set, but I removed it before taking pictures.) The set also comes with a killer whale / orca. You may have also noticed I had a bunch of trans - yellow bricks from a Classic Space build left over. They made a good replacement for the light brick. The inside features a table, lamp, and mounted instrument from the early days of sailing.... though this device measures where you are via the sun, so what is it doing on a stationary lighthouse? (The yellow chairs I added myself, along with the red soda can.) The set contains 10 modules as follows, (in no particular order): Tower top with light, building roof, building proper, small dock, exposed small rock, exposed large rock, tower foundation, two red tower modules, and a white tower module. This cute critter comes with the main model of set 31051. His flippers move, his tail flops around, and his jaw opens to swallow fish.... or unwitting swimming mini-figures! Thier is no LDD file for this build, but it shouldn't be too hard to recreate what I did, right? Comments, Questions, and Complaints welcome!
