  1. Hey, Introducing "Money for Nothing": An art piece based on the Dire Straits album cover "Money for Nothing". Two and a half dimensional. The same size as an LP sleeve. Includes an integrated fold-out stand, as well as a block to hang on a wall on a screw or hook. Includes some pieces in colours not currently available from Lego. Compatible pieces can be sourced for these. Also includes an image that needs to be printed on a white sticker sheet, cut to size and stuck over the top of two 6 x 6 tile pieces. Instructions, Studio file, image for sticker and inventory available at: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-199731/GrizzlyBearAdams/money-for-nothing/ More photos and renders: https://bricksafe.com/pages/GrizzlyBearAdams/money-for-nothing
  2. Here is my take on modifying the Downtown Diner. I used two sets, and sort of mirrorbuild one set. The footprint is 56 studs. I widened the stairs on both sides with one stud to reach the 56 studs.
  3. Who's favorite film composer, and what's your favorite film score? Whether you love the work of composers such as John Williams, Hans Zimmer, James Horner, Danny Elfman, or Howard Shore for example; or if you only have a particular film score or theme you really like, please share and discuss your favorites here.
  4. A build made for my last exhibition with my LUG at Dole (France). I continue to play with colors with this MOC. A Xylophone... colorfull instrument but not realy playable ! Enjoy ! Xylophone by Pistash

  6. Hello, I really enjoy turn something i like in Lego, Iconic concret of the iconic band Pink Floyd playing in Pompeii 1972, I made only half circle, and is 48x96studs, The curved base of the Pompeii arena is made with train tracks, cover with bricks, plates and plants. The band i try to replicate every single detail... Its still a work in progress... when I build with real bricks, I will improve some aspects. Have almost 3000parts. 7. Hi, today I will be reviewing something different, a medium or ordinary sized friends set. Friends sets started since 2012. The sets were targeted for girls and the mini-dolls are mainly female characters. The sets include pieces in pink and purple color schemes and depict scenes from suburban life set in the fictional town of Heartlake City. The main characters are Stephanie, Olivia, Emma, Mia and Andrea. But if you are to collect all variants of them, there would be tons to collect. As this is my first few sets of friends, let's start looking at it. Introduction This set was launched in 2015 and it was included in 66256 value pack. It featured Olivia who needs to get ready the studio for Livi the pop star to record her latest album. Overview Name: 41103 Pop Star Recording Studio Theme: Friends Year: 2015 Pieces: 172 Minifigures: 1 minidoll Price: £12.99 / $14.99 / 14.99€ Resources: Brickset The Box As usual, the box has the striking look of purple and pink color scheme which you will know this is a friends set at first glance. At the back of the box you can see Olivia is test running all the musical equipment for the superstar's arrival. At the side you can see Olivia's picture in the 1:1 actual size column. In this set you get one instruction booklet, one sticker sheet, and three unnumbered bags. Small, medium and large bags catering for their respective part sizes. I am quite fond of the parts distribution like this which makes it easier to find the parts even though they are unnumbered. There are three stickers in this set but I'm not complaining as the amount of printed parts are way more satisfying than the stickered parts. The instruction manual is a normal booklet and I suppose the one holding the mic at the top right corner is Livi the pop star. The Parts. These are the special and printed parts in this set. I loved them so much! You get a smart phone in azure blue 1x2 tile, a CD, a Cassette, purple Guitar, two keyboards, two glittering golden microphone, Mozart's notes, a newspaper in heartlake city and a normal looking panel. Wow! So much printed fun in such a small set! The Build. You get to build six small 'furniture' sized builds first before building the wall. These are the music note holder with a gold stand, video recorder on an octagonal base, and a mic stand. All of them are held by a pink flower at the base. These three minibuilds are great for modular interiors decorations. Then you get a controller with a keyboard, a pink sofa with a cup and the newspaper and a couch. These furniture are very nice especially if you are taking photos for your LEGO photographs. These are very nice household decorations as well! Let's start building the wall. First we build the CD player at the base of the wall with these grooved bricks. Then the CD ejector with a purplish black colored build. This is the sliding mechanism of the CD player. Its quite an interesting build here and I liked it. When we view from the top, this is how it works. Push the gold button and the CD will be ejected. After a few steps, you get the whole wall of the recording studio. It is quite well equipped with those smart phone controlled console, two speakers and a large music note signboard. There is a poster sticker at the trans clear door but the sticker on the right is actually a cupboard with musical certificate and trophies. The back of the wall is quite dull with a guitar hangar. Note that the cupboard screen is actually pure white instead of trans clear in color. A close up view of the controlling panels. Here you can see the music equalizer in a studio, a CD player, a smart phone and buttons. It does look like a recording studio. Tada! Completed build of the studio. I actually liked it very much after building the set. Now Olivia is ready for anyone to come for a musical recording! The extra parts are quite a number of 1x1 round plates and headphones. The Mini-doll. Olivia is the only Mini-doll in this set with a nicely printer torso and legs. The hairpiece is large compared to normal minifigure hair. Please don't put minifigure hairpiece on minidoll's head or else you will have a very hard time removing it. As with the headphone, its rubbery but it can't really stay on Olivia's hair and keep bouncing off. So I considered that as an 'extra' part. The legs are limited to bend forward, no other movements permitted. Here you can see the comparison between a mini-doll and a minifigure. Olivia is taller than C3PO while standing but the height is quite similar while sitting. The wrist of the mini-dolls are not movable so it makes them can only hold things in one direction but it was brilliantly put at an angle in which the accessories are held quite nicely. *C3PO is not included in this set. And Olivia invited all her friends for a jam in her newly set up studio! *Only Olivia is included in this set. Review summary Playability: 6/10 - The only thing to play is the CD ejector.Design / Building Experience: 9/10 - The design is very close to the real studio and the mini builds are very fun to build.Mini-doll: 9/10 - Olivia is a very nice figure in this set. The only downside is the headphone's weak clutch power to the hair.Price / Value for money: 9/10 - This set is quite worth the price with all those printed parts.Overall: 9/10 - For the first few sets of friends set, this one is quite fun and nice to build with very nice pink and purple color scheme. Conclusion This is my first few friends set and it amazed me of the design and mini builds. I thought I wouldn't like this set that much but it turned out differently. This is a very recommended set to have especially if you are building a modular building with a recording studio in it. I hope you like the review and thoughts and comments are welcome! Some karaoke session?
  8. Bardo is known for it annual music festival, and one of the constant reminders of the importance of music in this island town is the statue of the Pied Piper at the center of a small fountain near the center of town. Children and animals seem drawn to the statue. Some say the wind plays an alluring tune when it blows around the statue at just the right direction off the ocean. And local custom has turned the fountain into a wishing well. And it's not just children who throw coins in the well; couples also believe the fountain brings good luck. A view of the full build: ------------ A quick build to add a small art & culture property to Bardo. All C&C welcome.
  9. Dear all I hope you enjoy this little composition Clive
  10. Hello! Here is my last LEGO MOC - music shop. Do you like it? Check my YouTube video with this MOC Have a nice day!
  11. I'm back with my first public LEGO stop-motion animation! This is a music video I made of the song God of Possibilities by Brian Free & Assurance. I've had experience with a few Brickfilms (some of them have remained a work-in-progress since years ago), and I have another one I've been working on recently that's coming soonish! I also apologize for the prolific 4:3 format; next time I will aim for 16:9 widescreen. 14. Hello Everyone! Today I present a few instruments that are minifigure scale. I noticed that Lego has never really released any music related sets. So I thought would create my own! The instruments I have made so far include a string bass, a snare drum, a French horn, and a piano. I have posted it on Lego Ideas If anyone would like to support: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/135773. Enjoy! 15. By limiting the number of entries, you leave me no choice. I present for the Musician’s Talent Fair… The Amazing Amadeus and his One-Man Band When the Amazing Amadeus heard of the MCTC music festival, he knew he must be there for his many fans. He and his partner, Ludwig, packed their gear and caught the first ship for Bardo. Once there, they were barely onto the street beneath the festival banners before they were mobbed by their adoring fans. Mrs. Hendriksen is here. It’s one of the highlights of the year for her! Another fan waves as the band marches by. As Ludwig marches down the street playing the bagpipes, bugle, drums, and cymbals simultaneously, Amadeus works the crowd. Here one of their young fans shows his appreciation. Amadeus figures this gig will pay well. It should keep him in bananas for quite some time.
  16. Hello! I'd like to present my newest modular, which I completed late last year. This is my biggest Modular MOC to date and features three different business all under one roof: A book store, an ice cream parlor, and a music shop! Here's the overview of the building. At the street level, there is a music store facing south and an ice creamery facing east. Next to the ice cream shop is the entrance to the upstairs bookstore. A street level view of the south side of the building. A close-up of the music store facade, with an interior view. A street level view of the east side. Ice cream shop facade close-up. Top-down view of the ground floor. Inside the music store. "Weird Al" Yankovic is looking for a new accordion. Inside the ice cream shop. The hippie was disappointed that there were no vegan options available. Inside the bookstore, where the mechanic is looking for a nice book on Eastern philosophy while the old man gets sucked in to his favorite spy novel. ] The employees are always helpful for those searching for that perfect book or to froth some milk for a nice hot latte to go with it. Some of the customers prefer their books to be read to them by a celebrity. The upstairs reading loft comes out to give access to the area below. After completing his purchase, the mechanic asked the bookstore girl out for ice cream, and they seem to have hit it off. "Weird Al" Yankovic was a little disappointed that the shop didn't carry accordions, but he did find a good deal on a new guitar. Meanwhile, the old man just can't put down that spy novel. I do have one minor confession! I used a non-Lego part (The BrickWarriors Spartan Shield) as a building decoration. I didn't realize it was a custom piece at the time of the build, having acquired it in a large bulk purchase a few weeks before. Being a purist when it comes to my MOCing, I've since removed and replaced it, but I just had to get that off my chest. Whew! There are plenty more pics in my Flickr folder! Thanks for looking!
  17. New creation just before the new year. This is my second modular: a music store and a recording studio. Packed with lots of details and opening panels, I think that this is perhaps my best build yet! My goal is to be able to build some more modulars (comprising of what will be known as Bricktropolis) for BrickWorld Chicago 2016. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!
  18. Hi again. Another project I showed live last weekend at PLUG Braga BRInCKa 2016 - a LEGO Laser Harp: It uses a Mindstorms EV3 to read the light intensity on 8 color sensors. Each color sensor has a 1mW red laser pointing to it so my instrument has 8 "strings" or "chords" (I use two 3-to-1 input multiplexers in order to achieve 8 sensors). All 8 lasers are controled from one EV3 output. I started with 8 LEGO Power Function LEDs and it worked fine... at dark. But at a live show room I knew it would be impossible to use the LEDs (unless for very very short distances) so I opted for lasers. The EV3 runs ev3dev, a linux distro for the EV3. A python script controls the lasers and reads the sensors, sending their state to a linux laptop where another python script plays the notes on a software MIDI synth (EV3 with ev3dev can play MIDI but has not enough power to polyphonic sound so I had to use this client-server configuration). This allows the "instrument" to scale out so I can had more EV3 and more "strings". I don't know now how to play so during the exhibition my wife, when present, played some 8-note children tunes for the public. I have no live video but I have this one at home, still with LEDs and just 7-chords: Sound still needs some improvements (I'm not controlling note length) and hopefully in a later version I will read hands distance to control note amplitude. I will also use some kind of Human Interface Device to change the MIDI soundfont intrument "on the fly" so the artist can change from an harp to a piano or a drum whenever he/she wants (I'm planning to use LEGO Dimensions ToyPad since I can already read NFC tags with it on the EV3). Some technical details (and code) at my blog.
  19. With the recent concert tour of "A Head Full of Dreams", Coldplay's popularity has risen drastically, therefore why not create a project of a popular group. The set is a concert stage, so the builders will be able to use it for their own customs and other play features. This set will include 4 exclusive minifigures of the group: Chris Martin Jonny Buckland Guy Berryman Will Champion Additional features include: Upright Piano Electronic Keyboard Drum set 2 Guitars Amplifiers 4 Beat boxes (green, red, blue, black) microphone I invite you all to be a part of this project, support and make something incredible become true.
  20. Hello Eurobricks! I have for you 6 "music dioramas" that I like to make whenever I get really into a band or musician. Basically they're constructed on an 8x16 plate, they're 7 bricks high with tile on top, and they're either based on an album cover or just on the musician. Also, I'm not afraid to paint minifigures and parts occasionally for these. Anyway, enjoy! 1. The Beatles: Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band 2. Metallica: Master of Puppets 3. Green Day: 21st Century Breakdown 4. Nirvana: In Utero 5. Jimi Hendrix (Loosely based on his early "Purple Haze" era) 6. The White Stripes And here they are all stacked together for a display piece. Thank you for viewing! Questions and comments welcome.
  21. Even after the Earth is dead and gone, music will live on. Here are my undead minifigures for the Brains contest, also known as the Undead Masters of Music. From left to right: DJ Eddie M. and his pet bat, heavy metal guitarist Rick Ormortiz, singer/songwriter Sarah Phim, composer Johann Sebastian Bach-from-the-Dead, country singer Tom Stone (the radioactive zombie). More information on each character: DJ Eddie M. - Once a beat-blasting music producer, Eduardo Muerto (more commonly known by his alias Eddie M.) has returned from the dead to re-live his days of playing electronic music festivals. Armed with his two vinyl records of choice, he is ready to once again take the world by storm with his scratching abilities. He has also drawn the attention of a strange little bat that resides on his shoulder, most likely drawn to the screeching sound produced by his sick record scratching. Rick Ormortiz - Having spent his career writing and rocking out to songs about death, Ormortiz was not especially happy when he kicked the bucket himself. Ormortiz suffered a fatal blow to his left eye in a freak guitar pick accident, causing his bandmates to hang up their instruments indefinitely...or so they thought. Deciding to join the land of living once more, Ormortiz returned from the grave to breath new life into his old band and spread his new insights on the afterlife through the only means he knows how: heavy metal music. Sarah Phim - The once dazzling star Sarah Phim has been appearing on stages all around the world recently despite her death five years ago. Initially, many believed her return was just a myth, similar to the claims of Elvis still being alive, but these rumors were confirmed to be true when fans were treated to unexpected show at a graveyard one gloomy night. Though she wasn't quite the looker she once was, the zombie that had appeared was no doubt Sarah Phim herself, wearing her signature, though tattered, white dress and still boasting her heavenly voice. Johann Sebastian Bach-from-the-Dead: Not to be confused with another, more famous composer, Bach-from-the-Dead considers himself to be the world's greatest musician... albeit, no one has even heard of him. Believing he was robbed of fame in his time and determined to solidify his name in history, Bach-from-the-Dead arose from the earth to prove to the world that his music has no equal. However, he has since discovered this might be more difficult than he originally thought as he now has an insatiable taste for flesh, which is why he is usually seen with his conducting baton in one hand and some kind of limb in the other. Tom Stone - Though not your typical zombie, Tom Stone walks the earth as a man both living and dead. Previously a successful country singer, Tom Stone found himself turned into an undead, radioactive man after confusing a flask full of nuclear waste for his bottle of whiskey. The nuclear waste Stone consumed slowly ate away at his life until he finally succumbed to death's sweet embrace, that is until one night when he awoke once more in the middle of a cornfield. Reanimated with pale green skin and covered in barbed wire, Stone now scours the countryside for nuclear energy or perhaps a brain or two. Thanks for looking! Additional, higher-quality pictures can be viewed here on Flickr.
  22. Go crate-digging in the most famous record store in town! Hello everyone! This is not actually my MOC but my brother's. I'm so glad I finally managed to turn him (at least temporarily) to the dark side !! Anyway, I helped him around so it also counts. He was super hyped when he saw the "Music to our ears!" contest in Lego Ideas especially by the chance of a proposal becoming a set without the required 10.000 votes. He managed to create two entries in the given timeframe for it: a Jazz Club and this record store. The first entry was more of a warm-up to this second entry which is more refined and better. The main idea was to build a record store in a similar scale to this beautiful build by César Soares, somewhere in the miniland scale. He initially wanted to build it in minifigure scale, but I insisted in this larger, more unique scale to be able to add more details and to have an overall more impressive model. One of my inputs was building the main façade at an angle (for those who know me... who would've thought, right? ). We used the same technique used in the Ideas Friends Central Perk to angle the wedge plates. It works fabulously. Using such a back wall also enabled him to have a full exterior. I think this was such a good idea. The entry is reminiscent of the London Underground entrances by Leslie Green with the nice dark red tiling and blue signage. One of the aspects of the build I personally had most fun was doing the decorations for the posters on the walls. I came up with some of the ideas and puns. Billund Road, City of Brickminster... Erling Records itself... They're super fun. We also put a version of a 1980s Lego advert on the wall outside. Help us turn this idea into an official Lego set! 23. Hi everyone! I have been a member on these forums for around 10 years now, but have mostly been viewing the forums, so haven't posted any creations of my own until this one. Just wanted to start off by saying hi and briefly introducing myself. My name is Daniel, I'm also known as CommanderR here on Eurobricks and PieceOnEarth over on LEGO Ideas. I am currently studying engineering at university and I'm also a musician and Lego fan. Fusing my two passions of music and Lego together, I had this idea of building a Lego orchestra! A few weeks ago, I finished the model design (using LDD) and I am happy to share it here with you all! Welcome to the Symphony Orchestra! My focus was designing a model that I believe would fit will with the normal Lego set scale. With that in mind, I knew I needed to skim down a 60-instrument orchestra to around 15-20 minifigures. I tried to add as many details as possible, resulting in some printing for the sheet music. Can you guess what song they are playing? One of my visions for the model was that it would have the ability to be customized easily to suit the purpose of any show. The orchestra needs a place to store their instruments, warm up and relax. Welcome backstage! I love classical music and wanted to decorate the lounge room with some paintings, so those of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven seemed like a perfect fit! This lounge is where the musicians can relax and grab a refreshing drink. Here are a couple more photos of the backstage, instruments, and overall model: I also have recently added the Symphony Orchestra on Lego Ideas. So, if you like it, please head on over there (link below) and give it your support. That would be really appreciated! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/746f241a-3425-4104-8cde-c90b5e66b9bc Thank you for viewing! I hope you have enjoyed it. Let me know what you think
  24. Hi everyone! My entry for the Music To Our Ears contest on Lego Ideas has made it to the Top 9 entries, so I figured I'd share it here. It's currently in the crowd vote phase, so I'd appreciate it if you would head over there and give it a vote. But without further ado, here is the MOC: One of the best things about music is that there are so many different styles of it. What better way to discover them all than at a music store! Celebrate the wide variety of music genres and musical instruments and relive the heyday of music stores with this modular building! This corner building is comprised of a music store and a record shop on the ground floor and several apartments on the upper floors. Each apartment is themed after a popular music genre to suit the style of its inhabitant. The architect of the building designed it to look like a group of giant instruments to represent the four different types of instruments: An electric guitar (stringed), a clarinet (wind), a drum set (percussion), and a turntable (electronic). The floors can be separated to play inside. This 2589-piece set is not only a great addition to anyone's modular buildings display, but also a fun playset that can serve as a home for your CMF musicians. Comes with 2 store owners and a new Classical Musician! Let's take a closer look! The sidewalk is patterned like a piano keyboard, and between the music and record stores, there a staircase going up to the apartments with tuplet-shaped handrails leading up to the door. The music store has all kinds of different instruments. At the cash register, the store owner is having a discussion with the Classical Musician about which music is better: Classic or Metal. Albums of all kinds line the walls of the record store. The Disco Guy likes to come here often to disco-ver new tunes to dance to. The first apartments are dedicated to the pop star, disco guy, cowgirl, and saxophone player, representing pop, R&B and soul, country, and blues/jazz respectively. Next to the stairs to the top floor, there is a small corner with a table for the saxophone player for when he's not on the balcony. The last floor features rooms for the DJ, Rockstar, and Classical Musician, as well as a terrace with graffiti for the rapper to hang out on, representing techno, rock, classical music, and hip hop. There is a stark contrast between the styles of the three rooms. There is also a small closet with a broom and bucket in the hallway. The turntable-shaped roof can be accessed via a ladder going up the clarinet tower. I hope you like it. If you do, again, please give it your vote here. Since it has made it to the Top 9, it will be considered as a potential future set during the next Ideas review! Thanks, and keep on rockin'!
