  1. DESCRIPTION LEGO 31136: Exotic Parrot is truly a wonderful set. I was lucky to get my hands on one during 2024. Eurobricks Classic-Pirates ‘Infamous Steve’ contest. I assembled the prize right away, and then the obvious question came to my mind: "I wonder how it would look in red?" Other than paint-job, I did several changes on the wings and one change to the tail - mainly removing all the visible studs. I also added real Popsy on the branch behind the flower - see next image. WHO IS POPSY? IMPORTANT DETAILS This is not an alternative build, this is a MOD (modification) of the original LEGO design. This means that you can use some parts of the original set, but you also need to purchase a fair amount of bricks and pieces on the side. Since this is not a very large build, and if you own the original, I suggest you buy all the pieces and then have two parrots instead of one. FREE INSTRUCTIONS
  2. Hello, once more a sulphur-chrested cockatoo! I am still not completely satisfied, so maybe I will give it another shot in the future...
  3. I miss my beloved Cockatoo named "Ah Po" and he accompanied me and my brother to grow. He was one of my family member. But he has passed away long time ago. We miss him very much. Now, I take the challenge of kayu builder and have idea to build as LEGO Cockatoo with using "Separator". Builder : Alanboar Cheung Size : 16cm (L) x 12cm(W) x 43cm(H) Pieces : 1200 pcs Separator : 4 pcs We miss you ! 4. I have never defaced my lego before, but I really liked the idea of having a Zombie Parrot for the Zombie Pirate Captain... so I got my paints out and tried to have a go on one of the grey parrots... Maybe I should have practised a bit first but after I googled zombie parrots for inspiration, I decided to get on with painting and this is the result of my attempt, enjoy! ZombieParrot, on Flickr (I bought a few grey parrots for this purpose, so any comments or criticisms welcome as I would like to try again)
  5. Hello, I have a supplement to my adult alexandrine parakeet. P.S.: Please support the guinea pig on Lego Ideas. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/115052
  6. Hello, this is my ring-necked parakeet. Inspired by the wild parakeets in our city. P.S.: Please support the guinea pig on Lego Ideas! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/115052
  7. Hello , as I promised: a new animal. It´s a new version of a blue and gold macaw. This time it´s a life-size model of a macaw. It is about 78 cm tall. An adult blue and gold macaw can be even bigger, but it was difficult enough to make this thing stable (just with bricks).
  8. Hello, this is a new version of my alexandrine parakeet. I built it from scratch, but I adopted some parts of the old version. The model has a more naturalistic shape now. The colours are still a problem. So I hope you like my solution.
  9. Hello, this is a yellow-headed amazon. It is native to Mexico and Guatemala. But there is also a small wild population in Stuttgart, Germany.
  10. Hello, these are ring-necked parateets. A male and a female bird. A lifesize model.
  11. This is a replica of the well-known children's toy mobile. Built from parts of the Lego set 11019 with two additional Lego ropes+pins.
  12. I know I was rather inactive for much too long, but I did spend a lot of my time for different LEGO activities. One of them was this parrot as a mosaic. I found a picture of a parrot online and uploaded it to Bricklink's Mosaick tool to generate instructions. Before deciding to build a parrot, I played around with many other options (such as autoportrait, city skylines, various animals), and spend much more time deciding on the motif than final building. The tiles are stuck to a 48x48 baseplate, and the baseplate can be put on the stand I build mostly from Technic bricks. The stand is stable, but wouldn't stand strong wings. Another problem is also the flexibility of the 48x48 baseplate. When I moved the baseplate around the flat (from one room to the other), some of the tiles lifted from the plate slightly. If you're interested, here's a few of the WIP photos showing the progress. Once I got all the extra tiles needed, the building was pretty straightforward. This was my first mosaic, and I enjoyed designing and building it a lot. I'm interested in trying different motifs, so I'd love to hear from more experienced builders any tips and tricks about a mosaic building. Edit: Here's the original photo of the parrot (not mine, couldn't find the original source).
  13. Hello, it has been a long time since my last post. The last year wasn´t very productive. I still have some unfinished big Lego projects. Until then, I show you my new version of a ring-necked-parakeet.
  14. [pid][/pid] 242A Happy New Year! Maybe you remember some of my earlier posts (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86979 or http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=84523). I have been able to further extend on these topics: I can present a few decent pirate shops: And the monkey shop corresponds to my announcement to present more "monkey-driven designs": The young pirate actually looks scared - understanable when facing a gorilla - but I could not really capture this... The parrot shop promises to offer the famous "Norwegian Blue" (beautiful plumage) but they seem to have run out of stock... The harbour fortress is now on the left: And, of course, you can purchase some hats: I hope you like this MOC... .. because I will certainly build some more to extend the overall set.
  15. Hello, this is a cockatiel. The feathers on the head should be dark bluish grey, but that´s the only colour that I got short-termed. I hope you like it, though.
