  1. I recently deleted from my wishlist the UCS Sandcrawler and decided to review it:) Although I am not a big Star Wars fans, this set was pretty special for me, because of its design, being a big UCS set and for not being another spaceship in the line. I also believe it has a great potential of being a great investment for the future.. When it first came out I was snob towards it because I had marshal banana's amazing MOC stuck in my mind... The review will be done from Mr Rambi (Royal Guard) and Sir Gunman with the help of some extra guys who are not included in the set Enjoy! Theme:Star Wars Set:75059-1 UCS Sandcrawler Parts:3194 Figures:14 Cost:About 300 euros bricklink Box, front side: Back Side: Sides: Top side: Gunman:Man... thats pretty hard to open... come over here to help me... Gunman:Oooo... Rambi look! Chickens! Rambi:Are you drunk again Gunman...? Rambi: Woww.. wtf... a bucket of nutella inside set..? Gunman:I told ya about the chickens and you didnt believe me...strange things happening... Vadie:Are you sure you bought a new set? Gunman:Wtf... why this brick is alone here...? Rambi:Maybe its "thebrick". All the contents: Gunman:Stickers again... LEGO should make them all in printed tiles...! Rambi:IT cant happen man... It costs very much for the company.. Gunman:And the set costed to us a lot, what should we do? Press a button and let the set made by itself?? Rambi:Come on Gunman.. lets finish this thing... Instructions Booklet (Classic quality, I would prefer it to be a bit more special, have a spiral or something) : First pages have some statistics and things from the movie and a small interview from Olva Kroigaard, the set's designer: All the subsections of Sandcrawler: Gunman:Does this hood look good on me? Rambi: You are fine... bring me the chest to finish him... Gunman:Strange-little-reddish brown things... Figures: Jawa Jawa with Gold Badge Rambi:How do I look? Gunman:Now its your turn to do stupid things..? C-3PO Luke Skywalker Owen Lars R2-D2 R2 Unit R5-D8 / R5-D4 Treadwell Droid R1-Series Droid Mini Treadwell Droid Gonk Droid (GNK Power Droid) Rambi: I called a friend with a loader to help us unload the parts from the bags. We can make it on our own. Second section finished. . Gunman:Let's go... Gunman:Rambi... are you thinking what I'm thinking...? Rambi:It's already arranged... Third section finished. Gunman:Here comes our wagon... Rambi:Boxes are ready too..! Inside view Gunman:A lot of boxes... Rambi:Ye.. damn... Sixteenth section finished, UCS Sandcrawler is now ready! Spare parts: Critism: Its one of the top sets in my opinion... Must buy even for the not so big Star Wars fans like me... It has a great design, an amazing series of minifigs and a very roburst construction together with a lot of functions to play with! Design:10/10 A great design with a very roburst construction based it technic bricks. Price/Pieces: 9/10 The set has an amazing collection of bricks, but in my opinion its one of those sets you should canibalize for MOCs... you just keep it for display or play with it. Playability:10/10 Its size gave the capability to its designer to include a lot of different functions to play with making it a really great PLAY set for all your scifi scenarios! Building:9/10 A bit tiring building procedure, but its expected due to its size... Though it has very inderesting details and technics from the designer... Specialy the technic part of the set. Total:9.5/10 Amazing set... No words to say... Just looking at the series of the minifigs included you can safely say its worth its money... I suggest you buy it if you are 50/50 before its price begin to skyrocket! Sandcrawler vs smart comparison Vadie relaxing... Thanks a lot! Gunman

From TLG regarding packaging: The decision has been made to change the packaging for future “LEGO® exclusive” Star Wars™ sets to include the UCS seal and de-link from the core Star Wars packaging. In addition to the packaging change an update has been made to the building instructions. The building instructions will have additional pages detailing the model’s connection to the movie and its development process. Much as the Creator Expert badge differentiates the larger models from the core assortment the goal of this change is to better communicate to builders that these sets represent our biggest building challenge in the LEGO® Star Wars™ theme.
  3. I just couldn't resist to post a couple WIP pictures of my improved Sandcrawler. I purchased two of the new light bricks from B&P and incorporated them into the design. There are still some orders pending to arrive to finish the interior and some features but the lights look really nice. For the exterior I just performed the usual gap filling and increased detailing of surfaces. I will post more pictures once it's finished but feel free to ask if you want to see any specific area.
