  1. Ahoy! I had some spare time recently, so I decided to play with Bricklink Studio and build a soldier's ship - this is how the "Royal Navy Frigate" was created. It consists of 1293 bricks; dimensions are 59.5 cm x 44.1 cm x 21.8 cm. Main features 3 cannons that can be quickly moved to both sides; an easily removable deck that provides access to the ship's hold; an anchor on chain controlled by a rotating mechanism – the front part of the ship can be also entirely taked out; a furnitured captain's cabin accessible from both sides thanks to hinged drop-down walls; additional space under the stateroom, which can be used as a berthing or prison cell for captured pirates; 5 minifigures: admiral, two officers, and two soldiers. All elements except those in metallic gold, one in dark bluish gray and minifigures were already in production. As for sails – these are parts #87675 and #87676 – with new printing design. To be honest this post is bitter-sweet for me, because I also wanted to invite you to Lego Ideas to support this project - unfortunately today it was rejected due to the fact TLG released Pirates of the Barracuda Bay in LEGO Ideas line. The comment I received was reffering to "commonality of design between galleon and frigate style ships", so "this build would fall under this concept category and sadly overlap". I don't see any possibility to change it so I am not going to resubmit it. Anyway, time for images
  2. [ENG] I made another OSP (Old Set Pirated) set, this time from the world of Star Wars. The original set was called "Ambush on Mandalore Battlepack". It's a small set, and at first I tried to stay strictly within the framework of creating the same one, but pirated. But in the end these early versions were absolutely not to my liking. So I went a bit away from the original and increased the size of the set a bit. I replaced the andalorians with pirates and soldiers. For the more observant, you may notice that all the figures are female. I thought this might give it a little extra, I hope you like it. The free instructions are now available on my Rebrickable page. [HUN] Egy újabb OSP (Old Set Pirated) szettet készítettem, ezúttal a Star Wars világából. 3. Escape from the Imperial Trading Post On just another day in the Caribbean Steve, the Merchant, arrived at the Imperial Trading Post on his trusty Cutter sailing for profit and adventure. Soon after disembarking his vessel, Blue Coats of the Imperial Soldiers raided the Imperial Guard’s Trading Post. In the Chaos of the attack his ship was seized by the enemy. Wishing to avoid becoming a prisoner of the attacking Blue Coats, and with no other means of escape, Steve decided to accompany a few members of Captain Red Beard’s crew, as they scaled the cliffs down to a waiting Dingy bound for the Skull’s Eye Schooner. 4. After Jan Zwartbaard set-up a miningspot on Isla Philip, he travelled back to Prio. This time with 2 platoons of MAESTRO Elite Soldiers with him. And also MAESTRO General Samu, aka "The Dragon" came along. They did not went to Prio to start a campfire and sing some happy hippie peacefull songs, but to prepare for the upcomming war against Mardier. This was the first batch of hundreds of soldiers MAESTRO will send in order to help the cause of the Duke of Prio. Their camp will be the beautifful white mansion Jan Zwartbaard received as a gift from the Duke. It was not located in the city of Alexport, but somewhere strategically outside the capital. Hereby I present to you, General "The Dragon" Samu. A military genius, ready to lead the MAESTRO troops and its mercenaries to a gloryfull victory. For MAESTRO, For the Duchy of Prio!
  5. Hello! I thought again about set 6279. It was one of the first islands where pirates used to keep their assembled treasures. It got its name from the skull carved into the rock (and painted white for some mysterious reason). They are in a fever over a small boat that has gone astray, even the captain stumbles out of his abode, albeit in a slightly illuminated state. There are two cavern "doors" leading into the rock, and the skull itself can be removed for playability. The set is modular and the roof of the building is removable, and the rest of the residence can be removed in two sections to reach into the cave from above. 3 cannons protect the island. True, these are not big cannons, but they can be effective enough. Some may notice that only yellow flowers cover the island, where there are flowers. There is a very simple reason for this. Yellow is the captain's favourite colour, and he has systematically wiped out all the other colours of flowers, leaving only the yellow ones. In addition to the treasures, a skeleton of a man who was once one of the captain's men is hanging at the front of the cave. But unfortunately he got greedy and encouraged his companions to mutiny. The captain quickly put an end to this mutiny and had this man executed and hanged. Since then, no one has attempted such a thing. You can also go to the top of the cliff where the only woman is currently standing. She's the one spying through the telescope at sea for the enemy. She signals with her pistol in her hand if she sees an intruder. Flickr Instagram
  6. Hello! This time I combined two classic sets, Pirate Treasure 1873 and Smuggler's Shanty 6258. This is a small island where life goes on and there are traces of greed and a few skeletons to show for it. There are also several hiding places to stash your loot, gold bars and gold coins. Soldiers about to dock bring the pirates their pay for a job well done. On the island there is a fisherman who sells his wares, a tavern of course, a shelter for the captain, a defensive cannon to keep out intruders, at least until the pirates escape. But are there still drunks lying on the beach who can't understand how the rum ran out again? And let's not forget the old man pushing his wages on the little cart, waving to the barman that he'll soon be able to pour another batch of wine. Flickr Instagram
  7. The defence of a Corlander naval base on a largely uncharted island cannot be left to green troops. Thus, a troop of Her Majesty's Winged Cuirassiers has been assigned to King's Harbour. Outside the settlement, a barracks and stable has been erected, fortified against minor threats. Here, we see three cuirassiers riding out of the main gate, likely going on another patrol to map and survey the surrounding areas. The Winged Cuirassiers derive their name from the winged banners they carry atop their long battle-lances, and the breastplates (cuirasses) they carry on their chest against small arms fire and lances. Each section of four Cuirassiers is lead by a bannerman, who, instead of the wing, carries the banner of her Majesty, Queen Anetta. They are elite, shock-troops, and have often been known to turn the tide of battle with their largely unstoppable charge. Armed with a battle-lance, a long-sword, and a cavalry carbine, they are versatile and highly trained troops. Recruited from the universities, and offered good pay and overall conditions, they often transition into important positions in the colonies as their tour of duty ends. ___________________________________________________________ Sometimes, you just need to figbarf and build some troops. C&C welcome. The build will be licensed as a small residence.
  8. Hi today I'm presenting you the new Mini - Moc made by CustomBrickITA ! I' ve made a Mini Moc because I do not have at the moment the pieces that a bigger diorama requires, but I tried to make it detailed and " clean " . The GOI is the corp of the Italian Navy Special Forces , they are involved in the most difficult missions of our country . All the minifgures are Custom made by me and the have the m4 because the GOI preferes light weapons to be as faster as possible . The environment is composed by approximately 100 pieces. Here you can find the video of the Moc , please if you like it leave a like and subscribe to the channel :) Have a good day CustomBrickITA VIDEO :
  9. Hello all, new to Eurobricks. I've always been interested in the Napoleonic Wars, and never felt there was a good Lego representation of the British army uniforms of that time. So I went ahead and had some designed, based on Woody's templates. I also bought some headgear from Woody's Shapeways store - the bearskins are especially nice. I also made a British fort, complete with garrison and general officers. By the way the resolution of the pictures does not do the digital printing justice... it is really high quality.

  11. Welcome to the Gran Military Encyclopedia of Oleon! Here you can admire the might of our soldiers, from their boots to the tip of their plumes. This thread aims to collect some information about the glorious Army of Oleon: during the years you saw several units of our Nation, from colonial militias to the ubiquitous line infantry, from the famed Mousquetaires du Roi to semi-legal Volunteer Corps. Here you will find a collection of them, with a brief description and the glorious history of their deeds. Most of the units depicted exist in EGS terms, but this is not an absolute requirement: if you want to show the border cavalry of the Varcosian Border, the Royal Guard of Granoleon or other units way far from the Brick Seas, you are welcome to do it! For the citizens of Oleon who want to contribute: please follow the general outline described in the spoiler Vive le Roi! Unit index Militia Units recruited locally, both in the motherland and in the colonies. Formed by willing citizens or peasants, the main function of a militia is the defending a city or a province from both foreign aggressions and internal menaces, such as bandits or riots. These non-professional soldiers often wear odd uniforms, strongly influenced by local elements. Although they are often considered poor fighters, militiamen proved their worth in several occasions, especially during Corrish invasions and along the turbulent Western Border 1ere Compagnie Milice Coloniale de Fort Arltrees Tyree'dee Warriors 4e Regiment de Triallieur Dionysian Line infantry The backbone of Madrician armies. These soldiers march in a line towards the enemies and, when they can almost see the white of their eyes, they fire a barrage of bullets with their flintlock musket. The Thin Blue Line (or Red, Green or Yellow, according to the nation) is considered capable of enduring any attack, from cavalry charges to screaming hordes of natives. Although these units look very similar, training, discipline and experience make the difference in a battle: the victory will always belong to the soldiers who can fire faster and better, who can keep the formation regardless fear and losses, who can bayonet-charge the enemy even under a rain of bullets! Légion de Mardierennes, 1ere Compagnie La Légion Etrangère Infanterie de Ligne, 3e Compagnie de New Oleon Infanterie de Ligne, 3eme ("du Roi") Armée de l'Orient Light infantry Traditional doctrines consider light infantry only an auxiliary force to "true" infantry, with the only function of screening allied units and harassing enemy forces. However, especially in the unusual colonial scenario, these light infantry proved to be by far more useful. These soldiers are trained to move and fight in small, agile units, acting independently far from the main body of the army: therefore, they can easily fight in woods or jungles, where the rigid line infantry doctrines would be useless. Light infantry is sometimes equipped with rifles or carabines, rather than with long muskets, and is often employed in difficult missions, such as long-range recognition or raids in areas controlled by the enemies. Volunteer Expeditionary Force 4eme Infanterie du Bois 1ere compagnie chasseurs coloniaux de Astrapi Tirailleurs de Guelph Chasseurs a pied 11eme Compagnie 1ere Légion Pénale Jiangkai tirailleurs Jiangkai chasseurs The Sisters of Our Lady of Artemis Huntresses of Artemis Grenadiers Elite soldiers, trained to throw explosive grenades against the enemies. Despite the name, these soldiers usually fight with muskets and represent a sort of crack force on the battlefield: these soldiers are imposing, aggressive and skillful. No matter if grenadiers are attacking you with muskets, grenades or bayonets... the best option for you is running away! 4eme Pompiers "Les Feuyens" Heavy infantry Until the end of the Forty-Nine Years War, heavy infantry dominated the battlefield: muskets were still slow to load and inaccurate, so battles were often won by pikes, swords and halberds. Even if these units may look antiquated, with their iron morions and heavy armors, they still represent a threat on the battlefield: if they can get close enough to the enemy, they will likely prevail in melee combat. Moreover, armors proved to be very effective in the fights against the natives: their arrows and wooden sticks, in fact, can't simply pierce iron plates! Knights Treasurer Foot Soldier Pioneers/Military engineers Building forts and ramparts, but also roads and bridges, are complex tasks that require specialized soldiers: although they are not properly a fighting force, engineers are often determinant for the victory. Moreover, they often build "civilian" infrastructures in newly colonized areas, therefore contributing to the development of the Empire. The sappers, a specialized branch of the corps, have a completely different role: they must open a safe passage across enemy defenses, a dangerous job that often involves fightings with the enemies. Ingènieurs du Roi, 2eme Compagnie Breshaun Sapeurs-Pompiers Intelligence and transmissions Corps de Transmissions Police and Inquisition La Force Publique La Gendarmerie Royale Naval infantry/Marines Naval infantry and marines represent the joining link between naval and land-based warfare. These units are trained to fight on the decks of ships, but also for landing operations: these brave soldiers go ashore with little rowing boats, often under enemy fire, to conquer strategic positions (such as ports or coastal batteries) or to secure a safe bridgehead for large scale operations. Moreover, marines are also an excellent light infantry, since each platoon and even every single soldier is used to move and operate independently from the others: a forced choice, since tide and wind may scatter a small landing force along miles of the coast! Troupes de Marine Fusiliers Marins Light cavalry Derived from the nomadic raiders of the westernmost nations and from the tribal cavalry of Guelph, it represented for a long time something unusual in Madrician nations. Due to its excellent mobility, this cavalry is perfect for exploration, attacks to enemy supply lines, or chasing down routed enemies. While using these units for a frontal attack against squares of infantry is probably a suicidal move, light cavalry is useful on the battlefield too, for example, to charge moving or unprepared enemy units: even if musket and bayonet give a theoretical advantage to foot soldiers, the mere sight of spears and swords approaching at a frightening speed may easily make him run away! Chevau-légers Lanciers Méharistes, 1e New Olean Compagnie Hussars D'Oleon Chevau-leger Lanciers de New Oleon Heavy cavalry Heirs of the ancient knights, who dominated the battlefields for centuries (from the end of the Empire to the War that Time Forgot, but also later), these soldiers have a simple task on the battlefield: run directly towards the enemies and crack their formation with mere brute force. Even if the golden age of the knights is over, a charge of heavy cavalry can still decide the outcome of the battle. With heavy swords and imposing horses, heavy cavalry smashes into enemy units, opening its way with cold steel; despite this, several soldiers are equipped also with pistols, or short carabines particularly useful for close-quarter fights. Courassiers Mounted infantry Mounted infantry, as the name suggests, is something between infantry and cavalry: these soldiers ride small and fast horses, similar to the ones of light cavalry, but fight mainly on foot. Due to their mobility and versatility, mounted infantry represents a useful resource on the battlefield, but also for irregular and "less honorable" tasks, such as hunting for elusive enemies, raiding enemy territory, or even repressing riots. Dragoons Artillery Probably the strongest argument you can bring to a discussion. Artillery alone can win battles, breaking enemy attacks or weakening defensive lines. Artillery is divided into several sub-specialties, such as foot artillery, siege artillery, or horse artillery. The underlying idea, however, is always the same: take a cannon, bring it near enough to the enemies, and tear them apart with a rain of fire and iron! 12. Hello, On the Lego World Builder website (https://worldbuilder.tongal.com) people can design their own new Lego Theme. If the design gets plenty of votes and LEGO likes it, then the new Lego World may actually be taken into production. Being a fan of Lego Pirate themes I figured LEGO can always do with a new Pirate Theme, especially one with a clear story line. Therefore I came up with the idea of a story about a young Redbeard before he lost his limbs and one of his eyes. Roger Crow, later to be known as Captain Redbeard, washes up on an unknown island. He cannot believe he has survived. After the initial shock he needs to explore the island to look for food. Doing so he discovers the island is not deserted but there is indeed human, and not so human, life. There are several villages with islanders and pirates, a lagoon where sometimes mermaids can be spotted, quite a few skeletons lying about and the spirits of doomed soldiers near the ruins of an imperial fort. I invite you all to visit the website and check out my work. Of course I would really appreciate it if you would give "Distant Shores" your vote. https://worldbuilder.tongal.com/world/6850b491-4611-4306-b1e5-765fa6d12a I somehow managed to upload two pictures that I did not really want to add, but I cannot get rid of them. I have tried. If somebody knows how to delete uploaded pictures, please let me know. For now please disregard the following images:
  13. Years ago, MAESTRO established a tradepost in Madin. Business there flowered as the Tellvokians loved the delicious apples from New Terra. And everytime a new batch of the applecider arrived, people were standing in rows to get it asap. The sales of weapons was a bit harder due the difficult regulations and laws, but the deal that was made with the Sultan himself to be supplier of the finest Eslandolan weapons, was a nice treasure filler. After the rumours of the Terraversan war reached Madin, the local MAESTRO officer Seif Calli decided to raise new units to help their loyal Terraversan Friends. The only problem was that he could not find out where exactly to send them as his intell was not that up2date. The safest choice was to send them to Trador. A Xebec was chartered and Seif Calli sailed along the 2 companies to Trador. He was looking forward to see the beautifull city again. Weeks passed by, and finally they arrived in Trador. After disembarking, and after the news was going through the city, they were warmly welcomed by one of his old friends. 14. Hello! This is a redesigned version of the 6259 set, with a more modern look. In addition to the two soldiers, the set also features a captured pirate. A small desk, treasure chest and escape route from the prison have also been replaced. The roof of the building is removable and modular. Instagram Flickr
  15. https://imgur.com/gallery/fmc8y2a https://imgur.com/gallery/iByn5pc https://imgur.com/gallery/XzkKUbE https://imgur.com/gallery/g0wcamy We had a Biblical level infestation of flies some years ago, they are apparently attracted to things that are tall or high up, landed all over my Pirate and Imperial Navy ships. I've soaked and cleaned most of the sails with Oxiclean, except the Imperial Flagship, because I don't know if it is safe for that thinner, scrappier, stiffer material. I'm not sure what either version of the sails (and capes and flags) are made of, but I've soaked all the older style material with no issues, but I can't find anything about cleaning the later cloth material. I also didn't know sails could yellow until I read about it and saw the video posted here. The lower front sail on the Skull's Eye Schooner was slightly yellowed, and it was back to normal after an Oxiclean bath. https://imgur.com/gallery/o1hdAys For some fraying and unthreading sails on my childhood copy of the original Imperial Flagship, and some extra Armada Flagship and Black Seas Barracuda sails, I cut right at where the thread emerged from the sail, and carefully cut off some threadbare unraveled sections that are prime for more fraying. Hopefully cutting those off will stop that. The childhood Imperial Flagship sails are going to get soaked too. They were in a shed at my grandma's old house that had holes in it and got very dirty! I'm just glad those sails and the other two hull sections were there! I thought I had lost them! How would you lose such giant parts haha. I hope to be more active here again from now on! And don't worry, no second dark age here. I have a good ten years worth of MOCs and grown collection of sets and bulk parts to share. I have so many parts from childhood and adult sets, bulk collections, eBay, Pick-a-Brick, Bricks & Pieces, and Bricklink orders, I can sit down and pretty much build whatever I want to my heart's content, and I've got a dedicated hobby room and big work table with a bunch of bins now. There's also model trains, slot cars, die-cast, and retro games in that same room. :) Happy to be back and thanks ahead of time for any help and advice on getting my Imperial Flagship back on the open sea again!
  16. [pid][/pid] 250B I'd like to present to you my first MOC in the Pirates theme. Since Pirates are coming back I think it's good moment to present it :) This is a small outpost for the soldiers. It has removable top floor, interior, cannon, some surpluses and outdoor place for cooking meals. As you can see I don't really have all the minifigures that should go there (just 2...) and I also got there one lady (governor's daughter ;) ) that is a mix of Paradisa girl and vampire lady from haunted house. She looks pretty nice ;) The instructions are freely available. Rebrickable page is here: http://rebrickable.c...-island-outpost. I hope you'll enjoy looking and possibly building this :) C&C are welcome.
  17. Yesterday was Remembrance Sunday (the closest Sunday to November 11th). I wondered what feelings a toy soldier would feel remembering the sacrifice of his fellow soldiers. I felt quite emotional and sad making this. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. (Binyon, 1914) Princeofgonville, London, November 2014 https://www.flickr.c...le/15135517824/
  18. Greetings all, I am currently constructing my first MOC, an 18th century fort constructed in the Vauban star fort style. I will upload the work I have thus far. I have about 40% of the fort competed, just taking my time accumulating parts needed to finish it. I'm curious to hear any feedback or constructive criticism. I'm trying to make the fort as realistic as I can and any techniques or ideas on the bastions or merlons would be helpful. I've mostly been going off of pictures of forts from that era. Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks, https://www.flickr.com/photos/131835395@N05/? Images of progress.
  19. Made this with the help of my brother; he made the bench and radar by himself, and just helped with the rest. By the time it got to staging (this project took four days more than it was supposed to), I really didn't care all that much about it, so I kinda did random stuff. In other news, this is the first build I've done that's not for some sort of a contest since early October.
  20. Just found this gem for sale on eBay! http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-PIRATES-2009-6239-6240-6241-6242-6243-6253-BOXES-and-MANUALS-NR-/221693953340? Huge lot of 2009 Lego Pirates sets. If I'm not mistaken, that's practically the entire collection, minus the Imperial Ship. 7 SETS and 27 minifigures. Wow, I'm curious to see how much this will fetch!
  21. I wanted to take a shot at recreating the old Bluecoats 6265 - Sabre Island but with modernized parts/techniques. So, I started with the new 70410 - Soldiers Outpost as a base and added to it. Left Front: Right Front: Thoughts?
  22. [pid][/pid] Here is my Review of the System Pirates set; Sabre Island. (6265) This set was released in 1989 and features 3 Minifigures; two imperial soldiers and one officer (Lt. de Martinet as stated by Lego) This set has 92pcs. It comes with the island and a rowboat. I have even more awesome System sets on the way! Let me know what you think of it, and leave your comments below!
  23. [pid][/pid] 249C During the third Tournament of Retribution I built a small port to serve as decor for the redcoat/bluecoat skirmish. I however forgot to post this MOC before I demolished it . Fortunatly I retrieved many pictures including some taken by other people. I also improved the lighting in the pictures using photoshop so they appear less dark. Some pictures were taken during the ToRIII, others during BrickMania Wetteren, where the port was integrated in a pirate layout. This is probably my favourite picture; "So this guy walks into a bar..." Actually it's a redcoat walking into a bluecoat bar My bluecoat sigfigy is preparing for the final battle which will eventually result in victory for the bluecoats. I really should work on my full hull ship sometime soon... Whenever I didn't have enough parts I made it look as if it was on purpose by making the minifigures perform "repairs". I never cared much about hysterical historical accuracy, especially on events, where there are many kids visiting I simply like to show off a cool diorama with many funny details. (note the artist on the left painting the windows). Look it's a taxi boat The Elizabeth lies in port, this ship never gets much attention on events... You know, many of us pirate builders like more merchant stuff but I think the truth is that these aren't just very popular with the crowd, a battleship is just more spectacular. That Tower in the background looks nice, doesn't it? Not part of my port unfortunatly , it's Nicks'. Hmm, looks a lot more impressive with that big fortress in the background. So, I hope you like it, it's a rather classic building style I have to say, you may be used to something more refined .

    Hispaniola

168A Hi, I’d like to present my latest MOC – HMS Hispaniola – based on the ship from Robert Louis Stevenson’s greatest book „ Treasure Island” of course. The ship itself is a improved version of my previous ship – HMS Enterprize. I change colour scheme, stern and rigging - but still it is the weakest part of the ship. I also change the sails - they are the same but I taped it by rope, so they are rigid, look very good and doesn't shred. I also change a bit the masts and spars. I based the appearance of the ship from the "Treasure Island" movie with Charlton Heston as a Long John Silver and Christian Bale as Jim Hawkings (from 1990) but my ship isn't a true copy of the ship from the movie ( in the movie it was used the replica of HMS Bounty built in 1960 specially to the “Mutiny on the Bounty” movie from 1962 with Marlon Brando). Btw. I think this movie is a best screening of Robert Louis Stevenson's book and one of the best movies about pirates with great soundtrack also. So let’s sing that old pirate song: "Fifteen men on the dead man's chest—Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!" and see the pictures The main characters ( I purposely use from Long John Silver Redbeard's head and hat, because I don't know how to build minifigure similar to Long John Silver from movie) short story: and few screenshots of " Hispaniola" from the movie " Treasure Island" folder with all pics - http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=548938 - avilable when public
