This Blacktron 1 colored passenger train is modeled after the General Motors Aerotrain concept of 1955. I modified the engine to have two bogies (one of which can be replaced with a 9V motor to power the train) instead of the one bogie and one fixed axle of the original. The passenger cars were lengthened from 16 to 24 studs and Jacob's bogies placed in two spots to lessen the part count. (Yes, it bears more than a passing resemblance to a certain other space train of mine... let's just say some espionage was involved concerning the CS design plans for that train!) The train will be used on my Blacktron space base, shuttling VIP's around on tours of my base. Alternatively, it could be used to get personnel to / from the base and the off-site living quarters. (you can read more about my Blacktron fleet in it's own thread in the Sci-Fi forum.) The windows in the train were difficult to get right, but I managed to attach them. Inverted trans-yellow 2x2 slopes that would make this way easier are coming in a set releasing in March, but I'm not waiting that long! (The tail car is currently missing a few parts for the roof.) The cab roof is removable and a driver can be placed at the controls, but the coaches are totally impossible to get into due to the construction techniques used. (Also, two control panel double-cheese slopes, two 1x1 number tiles, and two radiator donut tiles are missing from the model, among a few other parts.) As for when this will be built in the real world, it will be soon. The last few parts for the train were ordered 1/14/25. Update 1/15/25! This space train station (named 'Base Terminus') is to be used with my retro-futuristic Blacktron passenger train to get staff and VIP's to and from the space base. (Some printed parts are not in the picture, but they will be when it's built in real life.) Thoughts? -
Here's a rundown of what I built for the BioCup 2024. BioCup 2024 R0: Journey to Mars! Journey to Mars by Mohamed Marei, on Flickr "Seven years of astronaut school. Seven more years of travel... And here we are. RING RING RING .... Time to wake up." Built for the preliminary round of the BioCup. Theme: space. For this MOC, I combined the classic Lunar Buggy aesthetic with some modern concept art designs to yield this piece. The astronaut builds on top of a Technic Fig whose arms are swapped out for thicker-looking padded arms. The legs get a similar treatment with metal ingots in white. Built for BioCup 2024 R1 Theme: Energy Subtheme: Chemical Building something interesting for this round was a real challenge. I toyed around with various concepts until I stumbled upon my limited collection of light nougat bricks.. and then a face emerged. Slowly over the next few days, I built up Merlin and the rest of the scene, inspired by an alchemical twist on the traditional Dungeons and Dragons evil wizard trope. The whole time I was building, you could hear me sing "Necromancer" by Judas Priest. In fact, this ended up being the theme song of this build, and Merlin was built in the image of Rob Halford, legendary musician and Judas Priest frontman, who's also a native Brummie! The gargoyles at the back came last; they were more of an afterthought that panned out quite well I must admit. Sadly, this MOC didn't make it through the matchup I was in, but I took it to my display at Brick Festival Birmingham the following day (Saturday 22nd of June), where it received widespread critical acclaim.

Blacktron I rises again! "You are now entering the Blacktron sector! This is the absolute limit of the Classic Space quadrant! You have been warned!" ...sorry about that. Had to get the legal stuff out of the way first! Anyway: Blacktron long-range fighter "Buzzard" Above is the two copies of the Blacktron XL-15, which are now dubbed the "Buzzard" type starfighter. So back in January of 2023, I decided to convert the XL-15 spaceship from the film "Lightyear" into original Blacktron colors. The blue became yellow, and white was turned to black, with all the trans-green removed. I added laser blasters under the wings where some technic pins are and put a different control tile in the cockpit. I was thinking about building a second ship, but then again, getting some of the parts from Bricklink was a total pain due to extremely low quantities in the needed color. (I'm talking about you, 3 x 3 wedge plate in yellow!) Thankfully, I bought one too many of both kinds of the yellow 12 x 3 wedge plates, as they are very rare as well with only one store selling four of each kind in the USA, which made making the second one easier later on. Blacktron command vessel "Executor" In addition to the two Buzzards, I wanted a Blacktron capitol ship. I had no ideas of my own ship, so I spent most of the afternoon of 10/5/23 taking Benny's beloved spaceship from The Lego Movie and corrupting it into a twisted, evil version. I revamped the nose, removed the expanding wing assembly and snub fighters. Of course I then recolored it almost exclusively in black and yellow. (some gray was unavoidable!) I armed it with a turret on the top rear where the sensor array once was, and put the commanders office below where the wing mechanism used to be. To keep with the one-word naming scheme of the original Blacktron, I borrowed the name of Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer, decreeing this ship the Blacktron Executor. I struggled to think of an engine flame color that fit OG Blacktron, but eventually trans-light blue was selected. Since the wings don't extend anymore, I added a third section for figures with a turret on top in their place. The rear-most section lifts away, but the rest of the roof sections are supposed to fold open. The ship seats seven troops and 1 commander. Blacktron cargo transporter "Vendetta" The new Blacktron Vendetta. I combined the Renegade with a new cockpit modified from the Blacktron Cruiser GWP, with added parts from a free Rebrickable MOC's instructions. The cargo pod is reverse engineered and modified from one posted in a Brickset article. (More pictures to coming soon of this ship!) Blacktron armored ground transporter "Marauder" The 2021 Star Wars set 75311 (Imperial Armored Marauder) has been transformed into a Blacktron 1 version, complete with revised guns instead of those annoying flick-fire things. I couldn't use space seats inside this one, but there are plenty (four) 2x2 modified tiles with just enough room for air-tanks in the model... at least I hope that will be the case! The rear of the hover-vessel with the laser turrets rotated. There are eight total opening hatches on the all four sides and top to place figures / store cargo. One figure sits in the rotating rear turret, two troopers sit in the main body of the vehicle, while the last fig sits in the drivers seat. Blacktron giant robot "Destructor" For this model, I used parts and ideas from the Eternals line's "In Arishem's Shadow" set 76155 (body / head / upper legs / upper arms) along with claw from the old Agents 2.0' "Robot Attack" set 8970. The lower legs and laser arm are (modified) holdovers from the "Build Better Bricks" Iron Giant instructions. (I need to fix the laser arm's elbow joint but I keep forgetting!) Blacktron "Shadow Runner" space car Recently, while I was on my Blacktron kick, I decided I needed a vehicle for the commander. So, after a few false starts with other models, I dusted off this old TRON Legacy Light Runner model and went to town modifying it. The model originally was made five years ago (was 2018 really that long ago?!?), and is based off the two-seater TRON set 21314 MOD that was made by BrickBrosUK and posted on Brickset here. The name Shadow Runner is a play on the Light-based vehicles from TRON. Blacktron minifigs 1x commander 4x officers 19x troopers 1x robot (E.D.G.A.R.) (Thanks to my brother for giving me ~10 of his unwanted Blacktron torsos from the old GWP that were purchased from Pick-A-Brick back in 2023.) Blacktron robot "E.D.G.A.R." This model is recolored and modified from the E.R.I.C. robot from set 76831 - Zurg Battle - from the Pixar film Lightyear. I call this one E.D.G.A.R. which stands for: Electronic Data Gathering / Assimilating Robot Blacktron space base "Outpost 13" This sandwich-looking model was built from an 2002 Alpha Team set 4795 (Ogel Underwater base and AT sub) but heavily modified to fit into the Blacktron I theme. I had to fill in the spots where the flexible plastic "window' pieces were, replace the skull logo with the upside-down Tri-Force logo of Blacktron I, find ways to make the model almost totally "air tight", and add on a radar dish instead of a harpoon gun. I also made the building a lot deeper - about eight studs. As on the original set, the logo folds down, where it can be used as a ramp. Also as on the original set, the MOD folds open to access the inside details. Special shout out to Jon Mo who designed the brick built Blacktron logo I used on my model. Also, thanks to Flickr user EliteGuard01 for finding that logo design and recommending it to me! The rear of the model. I took out the fancy spinning wall of the original set and replaced it with a bank of windows. The inside was very hard to figure out, as most space furniture is for me. I decided on six computer stations and a desk for the commander. Another source of trouble was to make the building open cleanly and close without holes. The original set struggled with this, and it failed miserably. However, I feel I managed to fix that. Thoughts? Vendetta and updated minifigures added 1/8/25

After exploring Planet U, the Rock Raiders discovered another unknown planet in the galaxy. Planet ONYXX is much larger than Planet U, contains dangerous rivers and waterfalls, deep caves, rough terrain and dangerous rock pikes. The Rock Raiders discovered that Planet ONYXX contains the same kind of energy crystals as Planet U.... With this information, the Rock Raiders travelled to Planet ONYXX. When arrived at Planet ONYXX, the Rock Raiders set up an new HQ, much more refined than the HQ at Planet U. The new base contains a large crane, Dual-speeder Dock, Modular Tool-Store, small landing platform, cargo and miner lift, small and large laser-unit, Teleport-platform, Research Laboratory and a Ore Transport System. The Rock Raiders HQ is developed to split ores, to do some research of the energy crystals and do fast transport from and to the HQ. The Rock Raiders also developed new mining vehicles, some of them are modular, so they can swap some elements to create new functionality on an existing mining vehicle. The mining vehicles will be used in the large caves of Planet ONYXX, were only the heaviest mining machinery will operate. Take your mining equipment and start mining!! In honor of the new "Lightyear" sets that were revealed yesterday, I decided to reveal my Space Ranger version of the spaceship in the style of PUG-Z from the old LEGO Worlds video game. I named the ship "42" in honor of the "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" TV show's ship from twenty-two years ago (Was 2000 really THAT long ago?!?), which I watched a lot when I was younger and sadly is not streaming anywhere since Disney / Pixar have virtually disowned it. NOTES: The origin of the original ship itself is from the totally awesome (and sadly defunct) online free-roam video game LEGO Worlds, then recreated by user TOB1 and made into PDF instructions over on Rebrickable. The rear of the ship, featuring a main engine and two boosters. The landing legs can fold up for flight, as shown above. (yes, I dusted the ship after these shots... the model has been sitting on a table since December, and needed a storage bin until yesterday. I didn't think about dusting them until after taking photos. Sorry!) Buzz sits in the front to pilot, and the alien Bunny lady from Vydio will sit behind him when she gets here... I haven't figured out what she does. Scanning? navigation? weapons? Ideas would be nice, if anyone has any. Space Rangers from Left to Right: - Nic (short for Nicodemus) is a highly evolved rat with cybernetic implants for eyes because he was born blind. From a world called Thorn V.\ - Buzz Lightyear needs no introduction. - E.R.I.C. is a utility robot programed to help maintain starships. This one takes care of Buzz's rocket, 42. - Izzy Hawthorne (info redacted) - Clover comes from a world called Watership. She is an empath and can sense emotions / feelings in others. (I borrowed some characters from famous literature for the aliens: Nic is slightly based off the rat leader Nicodemus from 'Mrs. Frisby and Rats of NIMH' novel, while Clover is based (in name only) off of a character from the book 'Watership Down') Comments, suggestions, and complaints welcome. Would love to hear all you guy's thoughts on all of this!

Hey all. Here's a MOC I made in Lego Studio. It's a rover inspired by recent trans green windscreens/window pieces and the newish wheel fork. The command module can launch from the rover platform and function as a spaceship. The rover platform can function autonomously or be operated remotely from the command unit. First Lego Group discontinued ALL Magnet pieces two years ago, then last year they retired trans neon colors, including Trans Neon Green. I know many people voted last year for Lego Group to recreate a 90s theme and choose M:tron, but is it feasable today to expect an M:tron revamp? Let's face it, without these two key features, M:tron theme is not the same,

It’s a 2980-piece base separated in four modules: WATCH TOWER- Observation and communication deck. It includes a working elevator to take astronauts to the top of the tower. HANGAR- Storages and gives maintenance to the ORCA, a tri-module exploration vehicle. It also has a second level where a Flyer explorer is kept and is deployed by opening the roof door. LANDING PAD- Facility used for external spaceships to reach the base. Includes the octagonal platform and a ground control unit to aid the incoming ships. It includes also a small spaceship. COMMAND BASE- Three level building used as living quarters. The first lever has four rooms used as medical a unit, sleeping quarter, workshop and lab. It also has two small garages for a small rover and a lifter mechanical suit. The second level are the recreational area and cafeteria. With M-Tron currently in third place in that poll, I figured there would be at least some people here who might like my latest MOC! I started making the hardsuit on the right intending it to be a generic near-future military one. The design was partly inspired by a clone-brand mech that a family member brought me back from a trip to Vietnam (which I did build, but it wasn't a pleasant experience!). I took some liberties with the M-Tron colour scheme; I wanted the hardsuit to be an extension of the figure, so it's got a bit more white than you might see otherwise. But putting one figure in that suit left me with a spare manipulator arm, so I thought I'd give my second figure an upgrade! I wanted to make something a bit more minifigure-sized, and I took inspiration from existing exo-suits that are more like external mechanical skeletons. It's only twelve pieces but it still has a decent range of motion, even if the arm movement is a bit more limited. Thanks for looking, I hope you like them!

Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted, but I did want to share this MOC that was nominated for Best Space at Brickfair Chantilly 2024. Honestly, it was thanks to the advice I got from many cool Eurobricks users to rebuild this starfighter into what it currently is today. It is also being currently showcased with the RVA LUG installation at the Glen Allen Community Arts Center until mid November. Let me know what y'all think!

I created this upgrade version of this 1987 space set using only pieces found on the Classic Space theme. Now the spaceship can split into 3 modules, the two cockpits plus a speeder that is the mid secton of the ship. This is the set we should gotten back in 1987!. Introduction; I believe that many among us have made a MOC that they like, but think that something is missing and want to change it somehow to make it look better or emphasize in the story-telling. Among them, here I am! This MOC, follows my previous attempt and continues my story from where it was left! The Story; "...In a galaxy far, far away, somewhere in a corner of it, there is an unknown and isolated planet. Despite the initial disturbance from the clatter and thunder that unsettled the inhabitants of the planet on that festive day, the strange visitors became especially beloved by the local population. Our beloved C-3PO, despite speaking over 3 million languages and dialects, had a hard time getting in touch with them at first, but eventually succeeded and thus added another language to his database. The time was passing pleasantly as our 2 robots tried to find a way to repair their pod so they could continue their journey, enjoying their walks in the blossoming nature with the inhabitants of this isolated planet, until once again a bang and a thunder shocked the calm atmosphere that was prevailing..." Here we have Lego's Deep Freeze Defender from 1993's Ice Planet 2002, a sub-theme of the long-lasting Space theme. While not the most expensive set in the Ice Planet line, the Deep Freeze Defender has the highest part count at 420 pieces. It retailed for $45 when first introduced. It's impossible not to fall in love with the Ice Planet color scheme. White, blue, black, and trans-orange all work deliciously well together. This mighty vessel is instantly identifiable as a craft made to explore dangerously cold environments. I especially love the array of tall, trans-orange "window" elements at the rear of the ship. This frontal shot prominently displays the distinctive tandem cockpit set-up. The Deep Freeze Defender was not the first or last set to utilize this design feature, but in my opinion it remains the most iconic of those that do. The large print of the Ice Planet emblem in the center of the craft is stunning. The printed arrow tiles hint at the first of many gimmicks of this set. Both cockpit sections are connected to the main hull via a 2x2 brick with a technic-style pin. With a bit of force, each module can easily be detached from the rest of the ship. Even by themselves, the "command craft" are delightful little builds. Identical to each other, each craft features a pair of skis, a chainsaw, and a black blaster/flashlight/whatever element for the pilot to use. Of note, the white skis are elevated just slightly above the ground. The bottom of the craft is raised by four smooth inverted dish pieces, allowing it to glide along a flat surface with ease. Here the connector piece that allows the command craft to attach and detach from the bulk of the ship is clearly visible. Other elements on the main hull sandwich around the rearmost bricks of the craft, ensuring that the command craft remain aligned with the rest of the ship at all times. With the canopy open, the cockpit interior is visible. The printed 2x2 slope piece is lovely, and the pilot fits snugly and securely inside. A look at what the set looks like with a single command craft docked to the main hull. The satellite which was once in the center has been moved off to the right of the ship. A look at the set with both command craft removed. Perhaps this could be operated by the pilot of the scout craft in the rear of the ship, who we'll see more of soon. Once more, the printed arrows hint at another of the set's gimmicks. This time the main hull itself will be splitting apart into two smaller craft. To undock these two halves, simply lift two arrow-printed hinges and pull the two sections of the ship apart. Aside from the stud connections of the two hinges, the halves are joined by two blocks with technic pins, similar to the command craft. The rear section of the vessel begins at the large trans-orange "corner" pieces. The two halves of the main hull separated. Each has a unique gimmick which will soon be revealed. With both sections of the main hull separated, the two command craft can dock with the individual components, forming two unique, complimentary craft from a single large vessel. A truly wonderful gimmick and easily my favorite part of this set. In my opinion each configuration of this set looks equally impressive. While one could interpret the rocket housed within the forward hull section as a weapon, it's really intended as a launch platform for a data-gathering satellite. The rocket is loosely, yet securely mounted on a short technic axle. Lifting the bay hatch pulls the rocket with it, allowing the rocket to stand upright for blast-off. The rocket is ready for blast-off, and the satellite has been mounted and secured. In cases where the rocket can't take off directly from the ship however, the magnet hints at an alternate launch method. Visible through the slots in the rear windows is a hard-working Ice Planet astronaut. While the two pilots in front are busy maneuvering and navigating the ship, perhaps this intrepid fellow is pouring over research data. Of course, he has other duties to perform as well, when needed... Another iconic facet of this set is the launch bay, comprised of alternating white and trans-orange garage door elements. Here, the bay is securely locked. The track for the bay door is unlocked by flipping open the two hatches, made easy by the large black thruster elements. Sliding the bay door open reveals the interior, and the Ice Planet astronaut within. But with the bay door fully retracted... ...The hidden scout craft is ready to take off! Sliding the bay door back all the way presses against an arm that angles the tiny ship into launch position and locks it into place. The craft easily slides off the arm to take flight. A look at the bay with the scout craft removed. The launch arm is clearly visible. When the scout craft returns, the arm's protrusion simply slots into an empty space on the rear of the tiny ship. Sliding the bay door closed relieves pressure on the arm and lowers the scout flat inside the bay itself. A look at the scout craft by itself. A very simple build. Like the larger command craft, it features a pair of skis for its pilot, but no other accessories. As for the magnet on the left side... ...This allows the scout craft to fly off with the rocket! Perhaps the pilot has found a more suitable place to launch the satellite into orbit. The rocket has launched, and its payload has been inserted into the icy planet's orbit. When deployed, the arms of the satellite unfold as shown. Assembled here are the three minifigures included with the Deep Freeze Defender. Two can pilot the ship, while the remaining member can pilot the scout craft. The figure in the center has a unique torso print, denoting his status as leader. With their trans-orange visors flipped up, the identities of each minifigure are properly revealed! Commander Cold (known as Commander Bear in the U.K. and Japan) stands proudly in the center, flanked by unnamed male and female astronauts. Ice Planet 2002 was one of the first Space themes to include specially printed minifigure faces (narrowly beaten by Space Police II). Additionally, the female of this set is the first female minifigure in the entire Space line. Equipped with their accessories, the Ice Planet astronauts are ready for anything! Commander Cold sports a combined tool made from his black "blaster" element and chainsaw, while the female astronaut wields them separately. The male astronaut treks on only with a pair of skis. The broad, flat surfaces of the skis allow for some (carefully set) walking poses unaided by plates or other pieces. In conclusion, the Deep Freeze Defender is an absolutely phenomenal set. It's durable, stylish, fun, and loaded with interesting and well-implemented gimmicks. It is by far the best of the Ice Planet 2002 sets, and one of the best large starship builds in all of Lego history. Very highly recommended for all Lego Space fans.

This Kadillax (pronounced similar to "Cadillac") originally belonged to Black Hole Gang's second in command under the Brick Daddy. This financial / legal wizard is code-named Mister Gray. The Kadillax remains his personal transportation now that Gray is "retired", but this is a ruse to keep the Space Police off his tail. The real work that he does is helping rebel cells fight the Space Police IV forces, either by smuggling oppressed people around in his spacious limo and it's opening trunk, or using the secret panels to covertly transport gold or cash around to rebel hideouts or stops on the underground railroad to freedom in the galaxy's central core. The core is where sensors can not penetrate and big ships cannot enter due to the increased gravity and many asteroid chunks. In reality, this model started as 70906, Joker's Notorious Low-rider. I changed the colors, removed most of the golden parts and exchanged the bouncy wheels for hover pods. The vehicle's obvious weapons such as missile launcher / ray guns were removed when Mister Grays went clean, but the secret is that he kept the EMP generator and code scrambler as a precaution. These would prove to be most helpful in his new role as founder of the resistance network and underground railroad to help oppressed aliens and techno-mages to freedom. Mr. Gray also keeps a classic blaster in reach at all times... just in case. The vehicle can seat one figure at the drivers seat and figure in the passenger's seat . The trunk opens up and the roof is removable. After the death of the Brick Daddy, a criminal power vacuum caused a gang war to erupt between Squidman and the mysterious Mister Gray, who was Brick Daddy's shady accountant and corrupt lawyer. As Mister Gray slowly took over the Black Hole Gang from rival Squidman, he forced the Space Police III (who were at war with Blacktron 3 at the time) to regroup into the totalitarian Space Police IV by way of the Gang joining sides with Blacktron 3 forces. This proved critical to anti-alien leaning leaders of the Space Congress' plan of eradicating both the Blacktron scourge and Black Hole Gang. In the end, the Blacktron retreated to the edges of known space, and the Black Hole Gang was destroyed save two major members: Squidman, who was no longer a Black Hole Gang member when the Gang declared war of the Space Police, and Mister Gray, who sold out the gang's location to save himself. He is sometimes now called Mister "Grave" instead, but never to his face, as he alone was responsible for the saturation bombing of the Gang's hideout. This bombing killed most members and blew up it's ammo dump, thus destroying any evidence of Gray's complicity in any past crimes. After this, he decided his clean slate was not worth the blood on his hands, and thus helped found the resistance network to fight the Space Police IV forces. His immense wealth helps out those in need, and he personally smuggles wanted people around in his limo from time to time. Hello, this is a rocket that I designed to look like the standard simple rocket design. Hello! I want to present to you my entry for Ideas Moments In Space contest, Time to Charge! Lambda, the little robot needs to recharge after work! Help him! Hello everyone, I would like to share my recent build that I put together last minute for the ongoing contest on Lego IDEAS called 'Moments in space'. It is a large scale brick built 'minifigure' of an astronaut. It is inspired by these big brick built figures appearing in several lego sets (as for now I only recall big antman from the Marverl Super Heroes set, but I think there was at least one more). This contest is supposed to help TLG design their next space-based promotional polybag, so I designed something that I would actually like to get as a freebie, and I hope other would as well :D If you like it, you can see more pictures and vote for it HERE! I don't have very many friends on social media that I could lure the votes from so my chances are low, but each vote definitely counts so thank you! (plus if you feel like sharing with your fellow lego enthiusiasts, that's beyond my wildest wishes :D) Of course all comments and criticism are also much appreciated. Footnote - I haven't yet checked the part availability in used colors so I am not 100% sure whether it is currently buildable or not (probably not). I plan, however, on revisiting that, making necessary changes and releasing the LDD instructions so if you'd like to build your own Brick's'tronaut, stay tuned :D

There was a time that a big piece of brightly colored plastic with some lights on it, gently rocking back and forth, could make us so happy. Coin operated rides are something you grow out of, though, so it has been a long time ago that I enjoyed riding on one of these. Luckily, it turns out that building one is definitely a joyous activity! [MOC] To Space and Back for 50 Cents! by Bert Van Raemdonck, on Flickr The motivation behind this build was the LEGO Ideas "Moments in Space" contest. The objective was to build a small creation in the theme of space. It had to be in the same vein as those small promotional sets you get for free when you spend enough in the LEGO Store or at Shop at Home. I tried to follow this guideline as well as I could, really trying to design a promotional set. One thing I wanted to include, was some kind of mechanical play function. I recently acquired the nutcracker promotional set, and I found myself really enjoying fiddling around with it, endlessly actuating the lever: motion just fascinates me. My mind immediately jumped to the concept of a coin operated kiddie ride, as it moves so hypnotically and since it fills me with warm memories. I started by creating a mechanism that creates a smooth and somewhat realistic motion with a compact mechanism, to keep the build somewhat in proportion with minifigs. In the end, I'm pretty happy with how nice the motion looks, and I'm sure I would play with this endlessly! This motion is made possible with a bar mechanism attached to the sun-shaped dial. I spent most of my time tweaking the positions of the joints to make the motion as realistic as possible. I also used friction pins in the hinges so you can leave it in any position and it will stay in place, so you have more options for display. [MOC] To Space and Back for 50 Cents! - On the Operation of Rockets by Bert Van Raemdonck, on Flickr I also tried to make it as displayable as possible by first of all making it look like an actual kiddie ride such that it should be right at home in a Town layout outside some big store or in a mall. So the rocket got a shape that would be appealing to children nicely fat and round with an interesting shape of the nose (for those who were wondering, the rounded tip of the nose cone is one of those pieces that are the lower half of a balloon), nice lights, a steering wheel that does absolutely nothing but makes all of the difference to children, the typical slanted coin slot and stairs at the back to at least give some explication how that kid got up there. To make it more attractive, I made the base entirely in the space theme. The mechanism isn't actuated by some obvious crank, but by what looks like a sun, which totally blends into the base. All other planets in our solar system have been included as well, with colors and sizes as close as I could get them and a fun little combination of parts to create Saturn. With all of those touches, I hope it looks convincing enough that children would beg their parents for a coin to have a ride on this thing!
