  1. Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted, but I did want to share this MOC that was nominated for Best Space at Brickfair Chantilly 2024. Honestly, it was thanks to the advice I got from many cool Eurobricks users to rebuild this starfighter into what it currently is today. It is also being currently showcased with the RVA LUG installation at the Glen Allen Community Arts Center until mid November. Let me know what y'all think!
  2. The -Wing starfighter was an experimental starfighter which resembled the shape of the first letter in the Aurebesh alphabet "Aurek". It was an extremely fast and agile fighter with similar features to the U-Wing fighter. Its most notable feature was its prong-like retractable wings or S-foils that could split apart at the front to switch from flight to attack mode, thereby increasing the size of the ship's deflector shields and the spread of its fire, which earned it the nickname of Scissor Fighter. It also featured retractable landing gear, a central fin, laser cannons on each wing and in front of the cockpit, large engines on each side, as well as a small thruster behind the cockpit. This is my entry for the Star Wars X Building Contest on FBTB and since it's NnoVVember, I decided to make it a vic viper as well. Here is a bird's eye view where you can see the Aurek shape better:
  3. For a few months I've been playing around with redesigning the 10215 UCS Obi-Wan Starfighter (Delta-7 Aethersprite) with a few objectives in mind: Change the colour scheme to match Anakin's Delta-7, as per the Clone Wars animated series... but only in bricks. Improve the canopy to rear cockpit lines so that the curve is smoother and continuous. Have landing gear that can carry the weight of the set Have the option of a droid socket in front of the cockpit. Ideally this would be sized to fit the 30611 R2-D2 polybag build. As is always the case with a Lego design/build, compromises are made between style, colours, parts availability/count, function, build stability, etc. I've redesigned pretty much every aspect of the original design, with only a few core elements left untouched. The wings, engine shrouds, central hull and cockpit have all been changed extensively. I've yet to build this in bricks, so I don't know if what I've chosen so far will work. I do know that some of the pieces I've selected aren't available in the colours I want. Here's a few test renders. I'd be interested to hear anyones thoughts and feedback on how to improve this.
  4. So I built this MOC of the A-Wing inspired by its snazzy blue colour scheme in Star Wars Rebels a while ago and it's sat on my shelf for a few weeks. I finally got around to finishing the back area of it although I'm not too pleased with how the engines turned out. Most of this was built from memory without comparing it constantly to reference pictures so I took a few "creative liberties" with the ship like with the guns on the sides. Also, I don't have any tiles in blue and didn't want to make any bricklink orders so I used bricks instead, hence why it doesn't feature the pointed tip the actual ship does (let's just say the rebels modified it). 6. Today I started my next project, a model of the new T-70 x wing from star wars. I think I have the back wings figured out, here is a concept for it. Colours not final obviously. I'll continue to add to this thread as I make more progress. I decided on light gray for this. White just looks out of place to me and it doesn't appear that way even some of the time as the T-65 did depending on lighting. The wings (at least from my limited reference) are also seeming to be slightly thicker on the new ship, so I went with a snot design instead of 2 plates thick. I think that curve arch piece is the only really sufficient way to capture the curve of the wingtip with fidelity so I based the design on mounting each laser on each wing with those piece. Next, I'll tackle the front wings and engine assembly, maybe the rear fuselage.
  7. After having modified the old Y-Wing from 1999 (pictures at the bottom of this post), I had decided to proceed similarly with the more recent 9495 version. This time I applied a dark green color pattern and some light additional greebling. When exposing during a Lego fair, you may decide to have 4 or 5 yellow Y-Wings or have some unique ships. I think tend to believe the later is better for the public. Comments welcome
  8. Hello, everyone. I have another MOC to present you today. This one is based off of the A-Wing Starfighter as seen in Star Wars: Rebels season 2. It's based on the 2013 A-Wing model, but with many changes made in order to closer match the starfighter as seen on television. Playfeatures include retractable landing gear, opening cockpit window, and hidden storage compartments. Minifigures include Commander Sato, Ahsoka Tano, and an A-Wing pilot. This set rests at 213 pieces. Any comments, criticisms, or thoughts are welcome and encouraged! I've included the .lxf file for those who would like to fiddle with the design themselves. More pictures as well as another download for the .lxf file can be found here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=558711 (Note: folder may be private until approved) A-Wing Starfighter.lxf
  9. After my TIE-Emancipator, here comes my rendering of the TIE-Defender, legendary spacecraft from the Star Wars expanded universe. TIE-Defender by Veynom, on Flickr Directly inspired from the 8087 Lego set, here is my attempt at the TIE-Defender. Originally, I merly wanted to slightly modify my 8087 in order to block the rotation of the cockpit. Ultimately, I rebuilt the TIE from scratch, one update after the other. TIE-Defender by Veynom, on Flickr As a consequence, my version is heavier and looks bulkier. However this only makes it more impressive. And a good side effect is that the wings are now symmetrical on both sides. No more inverted studs. :) TIE-Defender by Veynom, on Flickr Front view depicting its angelic face. TIE-Defender by Veynom, on Flickr A couple of pictures from the rear side, where the body supporting the hulk is doubled compared to the original. 10. Here is a brick-built version of a MOC based on the MKI version of the excellent TIE-Emancipator from GuyDudeMan27. Compared to the original design, I made the following modifications: - The read body has been redesigned to be symmetrical; - Extra details have been added here and there; - Some color swapping depending on available parts in my stock; - Printed parts have been used for the cockpit or parts with stickers for other areas; - Wings supports have been re-enforced for playability & swoshability; - Some structural details were modified for sustainability and resistance to kids. (I know, resistance is futile) TIE-Emancipator by Veynom, on Flickr Front view ... nasty beast. TIE-Emancipator by Veynom, on Flickr A top rear view offering insight on the details. 13. Hi there! I faced the problem of lack of storage space for assembled sets and decided to separate them, and then sort the items by color and put in boxes. But I had an idea - why not to take a video of this process. So I want to present You a kind of "review". If in all reviews You saw how to build the set, here You will see the opposite process :) If you liked, subscribe and thumbs up. Critique is also welcome!
  14. Hello! this is my first actual moc post here, and hopefully far from the last. I hope you all enjoy this Resistance A-Wing design! I must give a big shoutout to Gumbinger, as a few elements are lifted from his RZ-2 design. I borrowed the general dimensions, the conical-shaped front deflector shield generators, but most notably the engine designs are almost exactly the same. I lowered the height of the top fins, but otherwise, I thought everything about his engine design was too good not to use. This design was the result of about a few weeks worth of first building in stud.io and then some back and forth of testing in real bricks and revising. Compared to the RZ-1, the RZ-2 has a lot more subtle, smoother and straighter angles. The angles coming from the front of the RZ-1 are slightly curved and round out at about the front of the cockpit, with the top and bottom surfaces becoming seemingly parallel with each other. With the RZ-2, the angles taper back from the front very evenly back past the cockpit, without ever really rounding out. This gives the side silhouette a very sharp triangular look, and it's one of the things I wanted to capture most. I feel like it turned out pretty well! The green markings on the red one stick out in an unfortunate way, I really had no idea how to incorporate them more smoothly into the design. They sit right on top of the old style 1x2 finger hinges. If I liked it less, it would be easy to remove the markings and just continue the white tiling. A small thing but I'm only just now noticing that the red 1x1 tile on the ship's left lower fin should be dark red, not white There are definitely a few areas that really could use improvement. Ideally, the panels on the middle sides of the ship could be stronger and easier to put together. It's not totally fragile or unswooshable but I don't love that area's construction either. There's also a good few gaps here and there, I feel like the part directly behind the windscreen could be more smoothly rounded, that area was surprisingly hard. I'm happy to accept all these flaws and just call this a version 1. After a while I'd like to come back and try to revisit all the problem areas in a version 2. Hope you enjoyed the model! If you're interested in buying instructions and parts lists, check out this flickr post for details.

For his new squadron, which is made up of fresh-off-the-assembly-line E-Wings, the experienced officer recruited mainly pilots with experience in flying Incom vessels for clandestine Rebel Alliance cells in heavily fortified Imperial sectors. Blackmoon Squadron has flown its first missions out of Phindar in the Demetras Sector. In stark contrast to Commander Varth’s reputation, the squadron has only lost a single pilot during the first four standard months of its existence. As a replacement for the fallen squadron member, Seb Koltin, a native of Vondarc and former commercial pilot, has been recommended to Commander Varth. Koltin has combat experience in both the Z-95 and T-65B, having served in Bothan Space and the Tapani sector during the height of the Rebellion. 17. Hi, As the Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace - turns 25 (already!!!) this year, and some sweet sets (ekhm...droideka) coming along, I decided to also build one of the icons of the film, and, dare I say, one of the most beautiful Star Wars ship designs ever, the Naboo N-1 starfighter. So, as the N-1 minifig scale built by @Inthert is the pinnacle of this design nearly impossible to improve upon, I went for the model in much smaller (I guess it is mini or larger micro...) scale with an aim to build it as sleek as possible utilizing metallic parts as much as possible. So here it is: N-1 N-1 N-1 N-1 N-1 N-1 I apologize for links, as I could not embed the links as pictures in the post from Flickr properly (don't know why..)
  18. Introducing you to my latest Midi-Scale spaceship, the timeless Y-Wing from Episode IV - A New Hope! At 546 pieces, this compact and intricate model is barely wider than your average smartphone's height, but keeps a dense, detailed look and accurate proportions. I initially made a first prototype more than a year ago but was unhappy with the half-baked, almost playset-ish scale. I took on the challenge again and recreated it entirely from scratch: it's now smaller, more accurate, and just better in every aspect. Despite the small size, I did my best to capture the essence of the original ILM prop: tilted cockpit section, engines off-center relative to the thin support struts, asymmetrical greebles from top to bottom, cockpit turret... Believe it or not, the deceptively simple shape of the body was not easy to capture at this scale: with such a tiny surface to work with, a subtle balance had to be struck between incorporating complex greebling and "drawing" an accurate body outline. The cockpit section was a whole other beast, but once I figured out how to create the tapering, things clicked pretty fast. I managed to reproduce the slight downwards tilt, the yellow stripes on the fuselage, and the more discreet gray stripes on each side as well. I believe it's about as small as you can go when creating a Y-Wing cockpit without sacrificing crucial features and proportions! This model comes with a removable stand. Although it being purely a display piece, its swooshability is very good. In addition to being cost-effective, I think it makes a nice desk model for anyone loving that ILM prop look, with a small space footprint. ► Instructions for the Y-Wing are available at BrickVault! More pictures on my Flickr page.
  19. My first ever true Minifig-scale ship is finally here, and what better model to start with than the sleek BTL-B Y-Wing from The Clone Wars series. Being 23 meters long in universe, this accurately Minifig-scaled MOC is quite a unit: 57 cm long, 1,6 kg, 2,954 pieces. It can accommodate two clone pilots - one in the cockpit, the other in the turret. The model is available in three versions: classic (yellow), Rex's (blue), and red. With a spaceship of this kind, the main challenge is to achieve a level of smoothness and fluidity that gets as close to the original as possible. Using the Battlefront II model as a reference, my goal here was to closely match all key features of the ship: the subtle downwards angle on each side of the body, the curvy and tapered front section, the continuous yellow stripes that run across the entire fuselage, the intricate middle-section... and for such a smooth ship, going full SNOT (from top to bottom!) goes without saying. The T-shaped body of Y-Wings usually allow for simplistic structures, but in this case, figuring out the internals was one of the truly head-scratching parts of the build, since I had to properly incorporate angled fuselage assemblies and make a proper interior for Minifigs. Even so, the model is very swhooshable and can be grabbed from the underside, from the rear or even from both wings. Each color variant is accompanied by its specific set of instructions and parts list, giving you the freedom to build the one you prefer. The ship has two display modes, "in-flight" with its fully removable stand, and "landed" with retractable and easy-to-connect landing gear. The swooshing can begin. ► Instructions for the BTL-B Y-Wing are available at BrickVault! More pictures on my Flickr page.
  20. After a year's break from Star Wars, I decided to improve one thing in my collection. I already had one MOC/MOD for X-Wing, strongly based on the 75218 set, but for some time there were a few things that bothered me about it. It turned out that the rubber bands had lost their properties and the mechanism was malfunctioning. Plus I wanted something much better and here it is my new Luke Skywalker's X-Wing Fighter The build took about 3 weeks, I had most of the parts so I only needed one order on Bricklink. There are 985 pieces here, quite a lot. The mechanism works on the same principle as in the 75301 set My X-Wing has retractable landing gears and a new type of display stand. Instructions is available on Rebrickable! more about this MOC on my YouTube channel - Edge of Bricks
  21. Got inspired and did a second NoVVember build for 2023, this time inspired by the Life on Mars theme. Yes, that's Cassiopeia piloting directly from a hypersled! The landing gear folds up and in to push the hypersled into the piloting position!
  22. things changed: -lowered cockpit down roughly 1 brick, changed build around cockpit region to slope into wings, taper into body, round out the rear to more accurately reflect the shape of the model in canon -filled in gaps with 1 tile width across whole body; requires some gaps in wing construction -replaced guns for accuracy; subject to further change to reduce conspicuousness -cut up stickers to apply across model -cut cockpit -nexo tile at front to hammer in the point :) working on instructions if anyone's interested. if ur curious on scale it works like this
  23. I never had the time to properly shoot my TIE-Interceptor MOD. Now that Imperial Justice has ruled, I can show you this relatively easy MOD based on the 9492 TIE-Fighter set. 24. Location: H03 - Kaalin Tags: Spaceship, Military, Vehicle --Weekly Explorer's Transmission-- --Log of Eagle-Eye Silver-- --24 Janurali 3816-- Given the recent breakdown in relations between the other two corporations, Octan Corp. has begun preparing for armed conflict. The OFI-204b Eagle IV I’ve been provided with is a mature design built by the mostly automated Octan Corp. factories. Even though it’s the natural evolution of the “200 Series” (starting with the now retired OFI-200 SuperHawk), the Eagle remains a state-of-the-art interceptor featuring some of the best of Octan Corp.’s engineering. My b-model comes equipped with 2 super high-cycle rate, long-range laser cannons as the main armament. These guns and their supporting hardware generate so much heat that each of their dedicated nacelles are crammed with not just the weapons but also very large heat exchangers to aid the liquid-cooled mechanisms. On the wingtips are secondary repeating cannons that the engineers tell me are for better for dogfights, which is interesting since the Eagle IV is optimized for the interceptor role… and therefore turns like one of those 20th century Mack trucks in the Octan museum! Oh well, if enemy fighters get behind me, I’ll just put on the jets—literally. The engines on this ship are crazy. I should be able outrun pretty much any standard ship in any of the three fleets with this thing! --End-- So, I had intended this to be an entry for Novvember, but it stayed at about 80% complete until this afternoon. Hopefully I'll crank some more AG stuff out soon! More on Flickr. C&C appreciated!
  25. Hi guys, I haven't posted here in awhile, but I thought I would share my MOC/heavily modded of Lego's 7915 Imperial V-Wing starfighter. This has been my project that I've worked on and off since I got this set back in 2011. Originally, I planned to assemble it just to see the inner workings of the ship before modifying the ship to fit the entire astromech droid. I loved the ship (especially the cockpit piece ) so much that I continued to modify it and it has become my pet project. I have since redesigned the ship from bow to stern and added more features while removing the old wing system. The wing design shares inspirations from the X-Wing to Starcraft's Banshee while still keeping the old wing flaps as part of the design. I apologize in advance for the poor pictures and model stand. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Hope you enjoy! Full gallery of high resolution images: http://imgur.com/a/uHXSe Lore: "The Alpha-5 Nova-class Starfighter was a joint venture by Kuat Systems and the Incom Corporation to win the Galactic Empire's bid for its next frontline starfighter. Built off the chassis of Kuat Systems's V-Wing starfighter, the Nova was created as an air-superiority starfighter at the tail end of the Clone Wars to escort ARC-170 starfighters on campaigns. The biggest draw of the starfighter was its experimental hyperdrive engine, becoming one of the smallest single pilot starfighters to be equipped for hyperspace travel without the need of an external booster ring. The starfighter is armed with 4 cannons, one on each secondary wing, 2 proton torpedo launchers located towards the bow, and rear flares for evading homing missiles. However, the Nova was plagued by its high manufacturing cost not to mention difficulty to be stored in the Empire's new line of Star Destroyers. In the end, Sienar Systems won the Empire's bid to produce much cheaper and expendable TIE/LN starfighter. The few Nova prototypes became popular with Imperial spies and agents as a versatile and well equipped starfighter. The failed Nova design would later inspire Incom's T-65 X-Wing starfighter." The flimsy design of Lego's 7915 V-Wing was significantly beefed up in my design. I gave the ship more heft to it and now that awesome cockpit piece fits more appropriately to a much sleeker looking ship. A view of the rear of the ship. Also notice how the landing gear are folded up. They fit snugly under the engine flaps but I couldn't really think of a better place to put them since they still do stick out. Again sorry for the poor quality pictures. In landing mode, the 4 wing flaps fold down to cover both of the Nova's hyperdrive engines. I imagine from my experience with Star Wars that hyperdrive engines are very easy to damage and especially ones that are placed externally. Here's a closeup view of one of the hyperdrive engines. I originally wanted to modify the wings after Starcraft's Banshee but I lacked the appropriate pieces to make rotors. Instead I used these silver Bionicle claw pieces and they certainly do a great alternative. To the right is a better angle of the flare poppers. A view of the cockpit. There is a targeting display and a switch to make the cramped cockpit more detailed. Another feature I added which I feel Lego never does enough of is provide housing for minifigure accessories included in their sets. Here I have included room for a blaster pistol and a pair of binoculars. Lastly, my lovely Twi'lek pilot and her astromech droid. Thanks for looking!
