  1. I have not posted on Eurobricks for some time, but have just completed a new MOC that people may find of interest. The story is portals have been discovered which lead to different realms and this one has opened into the realm of the Vampire. One of the distinguishing features of this build is the use of Tensegrity to generate a "floating effect" for the Vampire haunted house. The house sits atop a rocky "floating" platform "tethered" to the ground with massive chains to ensure it doesn't float away. The raised causeway that joins that leads from the portal to the haunted house is lit by lanterns along its length and the haunted house has shining jack-o-lanterns in the windows. The Tensegrity element of the build was particularly challenging as the structure had to hold a considerable weight for several days for a local Lego show. Looks like the picture has not uploaded properly. Will have to find another way to add it in. Apologies but it has been a long time since I last did this. Hopefully this photo link does the job.
  2. IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN AND WITH HALLOWEEN AROUND THE CORNER I WANTED TO HONOR THESE MONSTER MEMORIALS: 15TH: This year marks the 15th year since the Studios monster subtheme (called Scary Thriller and even Scary Monsters) made its debut, introducing Universal-style monsters. Although TLC had licenses on Universal Studios properties such as Jurassic Park and Steven Spielberg's name, one is led to believe that they did not have the Universal Studios Monsters license or, at least, were granted permission to make sets resembling this license. There were four sets and even at times these sets mixed monsters from other movies (like the 2017 edition of The Mummy with Tom Cruise). The main monsters represented were a Vampire, Werewolf, Frankenstein, and The Mummy, although these characters were more or less designed to be costumed actors on film sets. The sets, in many ways, closely resembled the Universal Studios monster films. Other monster mashups included a modified version of Dr Jeckyll/Mr Hyde as the Scientist in the Frankenstein set, the ghost costume and a female actress in the same set (I am guessing an homage to Phantom of the Opera) and The Hunchback in the Vampire set. Although not directly stated by his name, Van Helsing makes an appearance too in the Vampire set. 5th: This year marks the 5th year since the Monster Fighters line was released. Centered around the fictional steampunk culture, here, a gang of monster hunters must stop Lord Vampyre from eclipsing the sun forever. Many of the sets were different from actual sets in the movies but at times, especially with the Vampyre's castle, they had some similarities. Given the design of the vehicles one must wonder if the time period wasn't meant to be depression-era, especially since many monster movies were released around this time. The sets, in some ways like the Werewolf set, reused previous ideas from the original line. However, some sets did indeed create new editions of older sets and introduce new monster properties from which they were derived. I suggest the following: * Lord Vampyre's Castle - Dracula * Frankenstein - Frankenstein * The Mummy - A chariot, * Werewolf - The Wolf Man * Sea Creature - Creature from the Black Lagoon * Vampire Hearse / Coffin Car - Munsters Coach & Dragula. The driver had been called Renfield, Dracula's assistant, in the preliminary box displays, as well as Dracula being used for Dracula's Castle. * Vampire's Bride - A spin-off of Bride of Frankenstein mixed with Elvira * Haunted House - Munsters (the creator of the set was wearing a Munsters shirt during the reveal for this set) and some Addams Family influence since there was a Frankenstein's monster butler * The Zombies - White Zombie (it was supposed to feature the VoodDoo doctor) and of course was, after all, a zombie wedding in a graveyard * Ghost Train - I am guessing a very loose idea from the 1941 film by the same name * Spooky Boy & Spooky Girl - Although they came later, it's worth noting Spooky Boy is more like Pugsly Addams while Spooky Girl, which you would think is Wednesday Addams, reminded me more of Lydia from Beetlejuice due to her schoolgirl outfit * Tiger Woman - close to the 1944 film by the same name * Mr Good/Evil - A spinoff from Dr Jeckyll/Mr. Hyde * Grandfather clock - Any number of horror films, though Disney's Haunted Mansion ride stands out for me * The Fly/Scientist - obvious * Venus Flytraps (Scooby doo) - Little Shop of Horrors * Graveyard / Witch scenes - Wizard of Oz, Walking Dead * Most zombies are likely influenced by Walking Dead and the rise of the zombie movie craze around that time * One can't help to think if Mad Monster Party and Groovie Ghoulies helped to influence any of these sets and CMFs * Frankenrocker - I know the Beetlejuice show done this at Universal Studios Orlando but I can only find the frankenstein monster from Munsters playing the guitar Almost all of these comparisons to all the Monster properties mentioned are based on my observation since the only time we knew of TLC acknowledging their relation to existing monster movies was at an event where recording was prohibited during an advance presentation of the line.
  3. HALLOWEEN IS AROUND THE CORNER... AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? SPOOKY FUN FOR EVERYONE!!! Over the years I have taken my time to diligently archive many of the LEGO Halloween & Monster sets ever released. I have also made 2 videos: one outlining the history of Halloween sets released by TLC and another counting down the top 10 creepiest, spookiest, scariest, sets. Both videos come with bonus content. I understand the Halloween history one speeds too fast. If it gains traction I'll upload a slower version. You may access these cool videos and sites through the links found in my signature below. Please enjoy them and have a Happy Halloween!
  4. Mod of set 75951 Grindelwald's Escape given a gothic makeover.
  5. The Fell Company is a bit of a misnomer, being but two warriors strong, but one that is carefully cultivated. Our story finds them leaving their Rakath Mountain hideout. A Knight in dull armour, astride a mighty black steed inclines his head towards the zombified squire next to him. "Come. It is time we find my son. We ride for Shadowmere." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm still alive, honest! C+C welcome.
  6. What do the vampires of Duskore get up to on Halloween? It's the spookiest time of the year, but not everyone in Vampire Town is feeling the seasonal spirit. 7. You thought the life of a young vampire was like Twilight? Think again. Happy Easter! -Cast- Ostea Latrodex - Audrey Bacon Edwin Stokes - Jack Rizzo Harvey - Bentley Michaels Check out the rest of Vampire Town series here! Just a very quick little Easter special, set in the Vampire Town universe. Quite happy with how this turned out, aside from the set (I was away from most of my Lego, so was very limited on bricks), and a few dodgy angles. But I'm happy I got this out on time, and there's more Vampire Town coming very very soon! 8. Pumpkin is significant symbol of Halloween. Combing Pumpkin and skeleton horse carriage will be excellent idea. The cabin of carriage is pumpkin shape with two eyes and nose on it. There are two doors can be opened. Three skeletons and one big boss, vampire included in this set. One skeleton will operate this carriage, two other guarding at the back. Four skeleton horses are pulling the carriage. Between those two at the front and two at the rear can be turned. The carriage front wheels can also be turned. The flexible setting can let you set the model in different position. I believe this model is definitely good for kids to play for long time, and a great decoration for Halloween. This model total pieces count is 355. I hope you will like and support this project. 9. Abram Lincoln, Vampire Hunter Centuries before his more famous descendant, Abram Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, stalked the mountains of Transylvania looking for, Neferata, the vampire who killed his younger brother. Weeks of traveling and following rumors have brought him to this small castle in the mountains. Perhaps he will have is revenge tonight. This is the first actual castle I’ve built in quite some time. While not colossal, it is my entry into the Vampire Castle Category of the 2020 Colossal Castle Contest (CCC XVIII). Window Technique The hardest part of makin this MOC was getting the stained glass windows to line up. I needed to use some 3185 Fence 1 x 4 x 2 and some 3633 Fence 1 x 4 x 1 pieces as I didn’t have enough of either. Due to the size restrictions, the windows were 2 studs wide and spaced every two studs. The following images explain how I centered the ‘open’ part of the fense in the gaps. The horizontal transparent pieces are required to hold the center sections together. I am submitting this for The University of Petraeas' Doctorate of Historica program in the following subjects: Architecture → Roofing Style 3 (Sideway, Alternating Cheese Slopes) Architecture → Roof rakes Architecture → Advanced windows and window frames

  11. Haunted A-Frame Cabin While I'm looking forward to the see my A-Frame Cabin on the shelves of the LEGO stores worldwide as it has been chosen as one of the next LEGO IDEAS sets (I still can't believe it...), I built a spooky variation of the rustic house based on the 2012 LEGO Monster Fighters series. It is a kind of tribute to the MF Haunted House released in 2012 by TLG. Size and shape are basically the same as the A-Frame Cabin, colors, details, setting and Minifigures are completely different. If you take a deeper look, you can spot many references and Easter eggs directly related to the LEGO horror theme. The gramophone, the trunk with the top hat, the glass dome with a bone inside are all objects from the MF set. The gate is also a clear tribute to the Haunted House. And take a look at the zombie heads above the gate columns, do you remember where they were in the MF set? Last but not least don't miss the magic Bat Moonstone of Lord Vampyre, the villain of the series. Enjoy and happy Hall🎃ween!

  13. Hi! This is the first MOC I post here. It's based on the Magic Box, a magic shop owned by Buffy's watcher in the TV show of the same name. A lot of people here are talented so I'm open to all comments (especially if they can improve my skills) and I hope you will like it! Presentation of the characters The shop (mostly accurate like in the TV show) Where Rupert hides the dangerous books about black magic and many others things. Cash register, Anya's favorite place in the shop. Statue on the shelf. Behind the stairs you can find masks but choose wisely, some of them are cursed. They all enjoy the shop. Rupert is drinking tea, Xander is eating Rupert's croissant, Anya counts the money and Willow is busy with the computer. But Buffy and Faith heard some weird noises outside... They were right. A vampire is waiting next to the backdoor, ready to drink fresh blood. Xander has tried to lock the door but he was not fast enough. Don't worry, Buffy and Faith will teach the vampire 2 or 3 fighting lessons. Meanwhile, a very special customer checks a new wand and Rupert has received a new book about witches and warlocks. A special customer by Back to the Brick, on Flickr To be continued...
  14. A couple of MOC sarcophagi, one more elaborate than the other. For whom could they be? But of course - bwahahahaha! - for Dracula and his lovely bride, Countess Dracula. But who's this? Could it be the steely vampire-hunter Abraham van Helsing? And here's what the above picture originally looked like when I took it in late Victorian times: Questions? Comments? Cloves of garlic?
  15. ...So you see, that is why the moon gets smaller and larger. Any more questions? Yes. Is it true that the Duke is a vampire?!? Hmm... I hadn't heard that. Tell me about it! Ok, here goes... As the civil war raged in Nocturnus, Cassius set out with a group of his most seasoned comrades. As they made their way to Abyssian, they were slowly picked off one by one, by the native tribes, hostile environment and rebel soldiers, until only the duke was left. Just when he thought all hope was lost, he came up over a ridge and there he saw it. A castle, black as night, jutting up out of the ruby sea that lat in front of him. He wasn't sure which side the mighty fortress was allied with, but he knew he had no other choice but to head towards it. Besides, they had most likely already spotted him. He paused, gathered his wits, and began the trek down to the gatehouse. When Cassius got there, he was greeted by an opening portcullis. He saw no guards, so he decided to head towards the tower. When he got to the door, it opened. Inside was a pale man, dressed in ruined court dress. Welcome to my tower. I am Lord Shirl. Come in. You must be tired. To this, Cassius replied, "Yes, and I am parched. May I please have something to drink?" Of course. Follow me. They soon arrived in a room overlooking the walls. In the center was a raised pedestal, with a plain stone cup of some strange liquid in it. Cassius suddenly realized it was blood. "I hope you don't mind, this is all I have. I'm sure you'll grow used to the taste... After all, I sure have." Cassius tried to run, but was frozen in place. The vampire lord picked up the chalice, tipped back the Avalonian's head, and poured the liquid down his throat. Cassius felt a sudden peace. All his worries and desires slipped away, like fog in the sun. Hssss he though, the sun. How he hated it. "There, isn't that better? Now, return to your pretty green country. Don't worry, thrall, your master will join you soon... And then, you will create any army for me, and I will rule again!" So there you have it. We're ruled by a vampire. That's just plain stupid. Heck, that's stupider than the myth that Mitgardian ladies have beards! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Whew! Glad I got that posted. This challenge has been a blast to build for, and I really enjoyed it! I'd also like to claim the following: Forced perspective Roofing #1 C&c appreciated!
  16. Halloween isn't popular in my country (but marketers are trying to change this). However, LEGO monsters are cute (or maybe they not?) and I built some vignettes with them. 17. Hello everyone! Today i present to your attention my new long-term construction - Old Victorian Vampire Mansion! It all started in 2016, when I wanted to "increase" my most favorite set 10228 Haunted House, which, not counting little size, was perfect stylistically! But to increase it, leaving in the same performance, was not interesting to me. I watched a lot of works on this topic on the Internet and finally formed an image of the acting model in my head. Next, I counted the budget and ... postponed it to "later"))) It was lucky that my LUG join Lagbalk last year. There, I ordered the most costly part - bricks modified with masonry. The exact amount used did not count, but the figure is about 1000 bricks (in the equivalent of 1x2). A year waited for those brics and now the moment of assembly has come. The second inaccessible element was the skeletal legs, which were used as decor on the roof (there are about 150 of them). After several Bricklink-orders the house was ready. It has all 4 walls (the back part is quit simple except that the chimney). In the right window of the second floor is mounted a red light-brick. It works by pressing a button on the back of the building, creating the effect of villainous processes in the room. All other standard windows are closed "jalousie", that would not pass light, deadly for vampires. Actually, the vampire pair itself is already arrived to the entrance on theirs carriage harnessed by two black horses. On each side of the house there are two enchanted trees, which frighten all uninvited guests. So, let's have a look: Victorian Haunted Mansion. Lord Vampire and his bride just arrived for theirs home. Photo by Dwalin Forkbeard by Anton Kushnir, on Flickr Victorian Haunted Mansion. Lord Vampire and his bride just arrived for theirs home.
