Posted September 14, 201410 yr Hi guys I want to make ruins of Dol Guldur LEGO. In my opinion DGB 79014 looks like long wall and this set disappointed me. I saw all moments in AUJ and DOS where Dol Guldur was shown. I also watched Dol Guldur in LEGO HOBBIT GAME. I tried to build Dol Guldur in LLD but I haven't got such skills. If you have ever built Dol Guldur or you've got a good design project post it here. I prefer buildings to maximum 1500 pieces (of course DG with 500 could be also good) Please help me to create a really cool Dol Guldur :) Thank you in advance.
September 14, 201410 yr You will be lucky to build this in 1500 pieces at minifig scale. But midi-scale or micro-scale should be possible in 500 pieces. http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Dol_Guldur

Lake-town 79013 + 79016 together look pretty nice despite it is about 750-800 pieces kreimkoek did a really good one a while ago. You can find it here This Dol Guldur is great I gree with you. However I prefer "open" place not surrounded by walls. Some ruins + tower + walls + stairs are good for me :)
September 18, 201410 yr In my opinion DGB 79014 looks like long wall and this set disappointed me. If you remove the stairs and play around with the hinges a bit it will actually look better. I am currently working on a MOD of 2x 79014 plus a bunch of 79011s that is turning up fine. I'm planning on having an outer wall around a raised plateau with another wall and a third level for the towers - I've modded them so that one is 3 times taller than the other - and the stairs reversed so that they lead from one level to the next. Kind of hard to explain, but I haven't taken any pictures yet because it still very crude. My goal is to make it look like it is actually on a mountain. September 18, 201410 yr I thought that if you built this set in dark bley and the burps brown than get rid of the giant lion head and replace it with the small Dol Guldur set and get rid of all the chima stuff and add some bones, copper spikes, cages, tree branches and thorns ,it would probably look like a large Dol Guldur Fortress. + Here's something for Reference. September 19, 201410 yr Author Julio, your Dol Guldur project with some levels and pedestals for towers sounds very interesting. 2x 79014 + a bunch of 79011s mean that you are going to make Dol Guldur with more than 1800 pieces. You have to show it when you finish it :D Dr. Cogg I will try to build something like Lion's Temple but in Dol Guldur style. DGA is suitable for main gate, but it is 2x lower than lion's head. I have to modifity it. I saw 70010 Lion's Temple review. Behind right part of wall is cell. It is good locations for king Thrain with key and map to Erebor. To the right of cell is movement wall. I think this is way which Gandalf had entered to Dol Guldur and left unnoticed. Thanks guys for help. I am open for more ideas :) Edited September 19, 201410 yr by wetib
September 23, 201410 yr I just found three more MOCs of Dol Guldur, all of them are kind of rough but have decent building ideas. Edited September 23, 201410 yr by Dr.Cogg
September 23, 201410 yr Author Thanks for next MOCs of Dol Guldur. I saw only 3rd on lego.com. Where did you find it? Can you link me adresses to this MOCs? Currently I make Dol Guldur similar to Lion's Temple. At the moment it looks like very nice.

I had to rush it so that it could be part of a Hobbit+LOTR layout I put together for an event, but it gives you an idea of what I described before: The Battle of the Five Armies by preuss, on Flickr Dol Guldur by preuss, on Flickr Best, Julio
January 13, 201510 yr i am als thinking about build myow dol guldur MOC, these you post here from web are pretty nice. maybe i will build only smal part of dol gulur, where can i place my witchking from the set 79015. it could be on the baseplate 32x32. but right now, before building this, i want to finnish my orcs army. i want to build some terrain, not just put army on baseplate... when iĺl finish it i will post here on eurobricks some photos
January 13, 201510 yr http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/373403 this is and old one I quite liked, it has alot of the aesthetic and details and is properly 3D like it should be but isn't overwhelming like some if the others
