DarthBrickus Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 [rant] So i just bought a 7964 Republic Frigate. Straight from amazon.de. When i opened the box, i found the DSS in a mess like i have rarely seen any. Not only was it crumpled beyond recognition, almost half of the stickers had come off of the sheet and were floating freely in the box, or even worse sticking to bags or the box's walls. I tried applying them anyway but they don't stick at all. Yeah, i know it's a 3 year old set. I guess they also put the instructions and stickers in that cardboard-backed bag now. Just so, that is a RRP 129.99€ set pretty much ruined because of F***** Stickers. Sorry, i just had to vent. [/rant] Dear Mods, if this is the wrong forum or violates any rules, please delete. Quote
Rufus Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I had a similar problem in my copy of the set, which I noted when I reviewed it here. Two of the stickers had come off completely; I've stuck them back on in this picture. I suggest call LEGO Customer Services and they may send you a replacement; as it's a discontinued set they might not be able to, but I've managed to get them to send replacement parts for long-discontinued sets before so it's worth a try. dr_spock Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 If LEGO Customer Service doesn't work out, you can try BrickLink for stickers. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 That is very upsetting! I don't use the stickers in sets, but I can understand that this is not good. I would contact LEGO first as stated. Maybe someone online has a scan of them and you can print them out yourself? Quote

I actually read your review before i bought it, but i didn't expect the level of destruction i found. I've had crumpled sticker sheets before, but this one was ridiculous. I'm half way through the build now,but i'm going to post a picture of the DSS' remains after work. Quote
talos Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 The box must of been shook up an awful lot to make that happen. I always sigh when I get to a step that involves applying a sticker... Quote
DarthBrickus Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 So, i finished building the ship today, and as expected, the stickers i applied yesterday didnt stick Here's the DSS (only the small republic Logos are left but barely visble due to crumpling...) Here's some stickers after one day "on board" But, the minifigs (Wolfpack) are awesome, the ship itself looks really nice, so i got that going for me i guess The box must of been shook up an awful lot to make that happen. I always sigh when I get to a step that involves applying a sticker... Yeah, the DSS was visibly 'bend' around some of the bags and compressed into that form due to the long storage i guess. Definitely worst was the stickers that got stuck to the inside of the box . Whoever came up with the Bags and Carton for Manuals and Stickers hopefully got a raise / medal. Quote
tfcrafter Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 I remember mine having the same problems, just not as bad as yours. Worst stickers seem to be the ones that go on the engine pods. Quote
DarthBrickus Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 If LEGO Customer Service doesn't work out, you can try BrickLink for stickers. I have used Bricklink only for sets up until now, i can't seem to find any stickers Can you (or anyone) point me to the category they're filed under? Thanks! Quote
dr_spock Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) You can look up the set inventory on bricklink. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=7964-1 Find the part you want like the sticker and see if there are lots for sale. http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=102696&colorID=0 Edited September 16, 2014 by dr_spock Quote
