SarahJoy Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 Great work with this, good color combos and landscaping. I prefer little more of a textured look for the tree (smaller slopes perhaps?) but this is nonetheless pulled off well. I'm looking forward to more Thanks! I used arched pieces and cheeses here, so there's no way to use smaller slopes on this one, but that's definitely something I'll keep in mind on future trees! Very nicely composed! Very nice curves and the gems(look) great. The tree is so simple but effective. Thank you! Lovely moc sarah, as has been said the curves are great. I might copy the walls in the future, on one of my mocs. Only addition I can think of is some form of path round it. Bravo still though. great garden, I love this little oasis in the middle of the sand, and the colors and shape work great. As cablefoxley said, a path would be a good addition. Thanks y'all. A path is a good idea; perhaps the next Gardens build will have one! Beautiful use of colour and shape SarahJoy. The sand green cheese is my favourite touch, it is remarkably effective at evoking a desert. It's been a long time since I saw a GoH moc with no mini figures, a brave call and I think it really paid off in making the viewer interact with the scene and contemplate the garden, rather than being a passive viewer of someone else's actions. Love the way you are building up Ruadh. UoP +1 all claims. Thank you robuko! I like the sand green cheese too -- I need to get more! And I really appreciate your thoughts on the lack of mini figure -- such a great perspective. Very nice walls and a very unusual tree design, which however looks just right in the desert setting. UoP +1 for both claims as the flower mastery is definitely demonstrated Thank you! Quote
mrcp6d Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Joshua trees are freaking weird. They're all over the southern California desert that I have to fly to every now and then for work. The curves on this are very Kaliphlinian and the colors are great as others have said. I'm also with the commenters in favor of seeing a minifig or two here--perhaps siting against the flowerbed with a scroll and some wine contemplating something. Quote
cesbrick Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Beautiful build Sarah! So harmonic... Love that curved walls. Also very fond of the tree design. Congrats. Quote

I couldn't come up with a decent idea of how to integrate a fig -- a guy just sitting there seemed kind of lame. Giving him a scroll and a glass of wine, though -- now it has a narrative element! Loved that curved pool Beautiful build Sarah! So harmonic... Love that curved walls. Also very fond of the tree design. Congrats. Thanks y'all! Quote
MassEditor Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 A very pretty build, the flower garden, pool and rounded walls work so well together and turn this into such a vivid and unique scene. I like the detailing to the surrounding desert, the colors work very well together. Great work, you are certainly an asset to Kaliphlin! Quote

soccerkid6 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Lovely use of that curved wall technique Beautiful gardens inside the wall as well, I like how each section of wall contains a different garden or pond Quote
