Hello everyone, this is not (yet) a selling topic, that's why it is posted here and not in the specific hub.

Currently I'm tearing between... aww duck it. It's complicated. I need your advice fellow lego builders.

I have somewhat like a technic collection but I don't know how to set a price for it since it has some used parts, some applied stickers, some new untouched stickers, instructions, all boxed (mostly in acceptable condition) and lots of new parts that I ordered from the bricklink but never used.

The core of this set is 8436, 8258 (stickers applied), 8043, 8070, 8110(stickers applied), 9398. All this sets are complete with all extra parts. And a ton of bricklink parts (motors, pneumatics, power functions, lights, panels, wheels, liftarms, pins,etc)

I'm trying to compile bricklink stuff since it purged most of the orders.

How much could all this stuff worth if I sell it as one lot?

Why are you thinking about selling your collection?

Furthermore; there's a difference between what something is worth and what you will eventually get for it. Selling the models separately will result in more revenue, but it will take longer (most likely). You can also choose to make it very attractive to buy the LOT, if you are proceeding with selling your collection.

if you ever plan to use them again (or have children use) then don't sell

In general you can expect to get much less money per part when selling a large lot than by selling individual sets or parts, but you will also spend far less of your time doing it. The "average" Bricklink prices are only a general guideline. For example, I've never been able to get even average prices for parts I sell on Bricklink because I don't have a large enough inventory to attract customers. The theoretical value of those sets if you sell them individually and are willing to wait for buyers is probably $1500-$2000, but I'd be willing to bet you'd get about $500-$600 for them in the short term selling as a lot.

Whatever you do, don't sell your collection to Blakbird. His Technic collection is already so large and massive, adding any more parts will cause it to collapse into a black hole. Think of all those flex axles and red #3 connectors being lost forever.

Don't sell the collection, unless you are truly desperate for money. The fun of building far outweighs how much money you'd get for it.

Give it to your future kids :D!

I hope that you don't decide to sell...

But if you do, please consider those AFOLs who were in the dark age and don't have such lovely sets as 8043, 8110.

The oldest discontinued lego sets are the most expensive now, aren't they?

The price will go up when all these sets are discontinued

"Valuable" has almost nothing to do with "expensive" ;)

Omikron actually never asked for advice on whether or not to sell his collection, he asked for advice on how much he could charge for it. Seems like 95% of the responses are about the question he didn't ask. I have no idea what is going on in his life, but I understand there are things that are more important than LEGO and times when selling assets may be the only way to get by. I had to do it myself at one point and I'm sure he has already weighed the options and didn't come to his decision lightly.

I wanted to say this. I also considered selling stuff, simply because of lack of space.

Blakbird, while OP did indeed ask what the sets would go for, the stock answer is always check BL and eBay, and the topic title certainly suggests that he hasnt reached a decision concerning selling.

And every day inflation reduces the value of money...

Maybe if you need money you could sell small low value sets and pawn the big ones, and try to get them back.

I agree with the comments about lots vs single sets... You need to put a value on your time and effort because breaking it into sets will take time and effort. If I ever sell mine its all going at once.

Your needs (whatever they are) vs keeping Lego = Your needs win every single time...
