The Archer and Uglrukh escape through a hidden exit behind the lift. He's a cocky one. Not for long. Dovanna, follow them. If you insist. Good seeing you again, boss. Just keep careful out there. We want him tracked, not killed. Remember that. We need to find out for sure where Morcrass is, and who he's working for. Attack the Archer, and we lose the scent. Alright, alright, have it your way. Later, heroes. It was good meeting you. Let's hope next time it's under better circumstances. Dovanna ducks out of sight, in pursuit. We should be heading out quick as well. Delfrin is going to want a report on what happened here. Of course. Speaking of which. Let's pack up, heroes. If we get back to the king, you folks should be back home in time for - what was that you celebrate? Oh right, Grogmas. Don't celebrate many Orcish holidays here, but that's no reason for you to miss out. Edited December 26, 2014 by The Legonater Quote

Before Dovanna goes after them, he adds, "It has been our pleasure. Like you said, hopefully next time, it will be after better circumstances." He turns towards the men from Delfrin, "Same goes for you, my friends. Hopefully you have learned something here, so when you get back home, you can let the people of Delfrin know the truth about who the real enemy is." Thalion picks up the loot, "We can distribute these on our way to the surface. Does anyone have any preferences?" Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 (edited) OoC: Siercon is actually now Lvl 14.5... Sooooooo close O.o lol Any chance we missed some cave spiders somewhere and anyone would be open to checking a room or two we missed? It's ok if not :P I'll live, just figured I'd ask :) Siercon searches the room. "I'm not particularly interested in any of the items." He said, looking around the lift area. Feeling inches away from the ability to wield this epic spear, he pulls out his magic compass. Meditating hard, he thought, 'Are there any enemies left?' Waiting for the compass to respond, he asked the others. "Guys, do you want to go back a different route? There may be one or two vermin left to be cleared out." The Legonater Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Siercon stumbles onto a locked crate. On the lock he find the following engraving: Secret Cache of the Archer Insert Code to Open _ _ _ _ _ Hint: Your First Name Hope this isn't too hard, S&C. This is guessable if you've been paying attention, but it's possible that was too long ago. Feel free to read back if you want. Figured a puzzle would be less time-consuming than another battle. Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Siercon cautiously enters J.A.D.E.C. into the lock. A small part of him wanted the legendary hero to not be an assassin set on ruining the peace... But he couldn't help thinking about how adept with every weapon Archer was... and everything that lined up with what the Minors had mentioned in the legends. Quote
The Legonater Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 Siercon inputs the combo, and hesitates for a moment. Silence cuts through the air as he finishes the code. The lock opens with a click. Hushes breathes sound through the room. That nut-job was Jadec Marr? I'm... not a fan of that implication. If this Morcrass can recruit people of that ilk... we should go. Quickly. Agreed. Siercon, finish up with that crate and let's go. Inside Siercon finds 100 Gold, an Emerald and a note: The Employer has arranged for us to sneak into the mines undetected. He says that Prefect Rone has been suspicious, but everything is going fine. At best Rone will contact that Eubric merc society again. If he does, we'll have quite the test ready for them. Morcrass is getting the next phase of the plan ready, and I'll be heading there after I finish in the mines. It's going to be odd seeing her again after so long, but I'll do what I have to. Soon all of this will be over, and the new kingdom will be ready. As long as I get paid. -The Archer Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) "Agreed." Siercon said truly responding to each one of their comments with the same word. Taking the contents of the crate, he then followed the others back to the surface. While walking, Siercon strikes up a conversation with the others. "I don't believe I've mentioned this, but I have keen interest in Bombs. Specifically Military or unique explosives. Would any of you perhaps be wiling to sell yours?" Alexander: Military Grade Fire Bomb 20 William: Bomb XX 20, Military Grade Water Bomb 20, Military Grade Lightning Bomb 20 Thalion: Norgh Bomb 100 (without unique properties, I'd only be interested if you'd want to get rid of it for well cheaper than the 1g per damage) "Bombs are usually 1gold per damage, but since the military (10 damage ignoring row and sp) have some extra flair to them, and that XX bomb is... intriguing. Would any of you be willing to part with them for 20g each?" Edited December 27, 2014 by Siercon and Coral Quote
-obelix- Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Thalion nods at Siercon's offer, "Sure, 100 gold is fine." and hands him the Norgh Bomb. Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 "Great thanks!" Siercon said handing Thalion 100 gold and taking the Norgh Bomb. Quote
Wedge09 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 "I think it's fine..." smiled the elven, he handed the bomb and took the the 20 gold "Why this interest in bombs?" What the Archer said and writed had serious implications, which has to be analyzed very very carefully. Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 (edited) "Thanks." Siercon took the military grade fire bomb, and handed Alexander 20 gold. "Simply to collect and combine. I'd like to make some various unique bombs." Edited December 27, 2014 by Siercon and Coral Quote
The Legonater Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 Bomb-making, huh? I hear the Bonapartes have a division that makes heavy use of bombs. Don't have a lot of experience with it myself, I'm a soldier, not an engineer. If that's everything, we should head out. Of course. Farewell Lachterson, Bardrick, uh- Tim. Yes, Tim. I hope you'll be able to talk sense into King Aldruss. I can't promise nothing. But we'll do our best. That's all we can ask. The group leaves the mines, blinking at the new sunlight awaiting them. They split up as the three head off to Delfrin. The heroes and Duplovians continue forward to the walled city. Before long they are back in the King's Court. So you have returned in one piece! This is good to hear. Have you discovered what has been going on in the mines? Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Bomb-making, huh? I hear the Bonapartes have a division that makes heavy use of bombs. Don't have a lot of experience with it myself, I'm a soldier, not an engineer. "Indeed, unfortunately, both the Invision's alchemy and the Bonaparte's cannoneers, approach bombs far differently than I would prefer. So it seems as if I may be on my own." Siercon said with a shrug. So you have returned in one piece! This is good to hear. Have you discovered what has been going on in the mines? "Greetings! Yes indeed we are intact. We have cleared out the mines as requested, and unraveled the perpetrators plan. In addition rescued both Donnova and Latcherson from the enemy. It turns out Morcrass was the mastermind, who hired a squad of mercenaries lead by The Archer to lead an "infiltration" on your castle falsely dressed as Delfrin soldiers to start a feud war. He successfully conscripted the Norgh in their plan to set your two kingdoms against each other and in the chaos establish a new rule. We have killed all off the immediate Norgh and Mercenaries except for The Archer who is currently being hunted down by Dovanna. May Delfrin and Duplovia continue in peace, which becomes stronger through trials like these... You however... might want to take a look at the lift they built in the cavern right under your castle . Seems like it might be a future weak point, considering this was their invasion method." Siercon said finishing off with a very slight hint of sarcasm. Quote
-obelix- Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 "Siercon already said the gist of it, I would only like to add a couple of things. Morcrass and Archer are again behind the attempt to destabilize the kingdoms, however they appear to have an "Employer" whose identity we were unable to uncover. The Norghs were swayed to their side and even though we offered them a chance to avoid the conflict, they attacked us. The elevator mentioned was apparently meant to be used as an infiltration device to spread chaos and doubt among the people of Duplovia. I would strongly suggest you send a party and have it secured at all times, since it exit point was apparently here." He paused for a moment, "If you don't mind me asking, your majesty, what is your take on all that?" Quote
The Legonater Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014 So you've uncovered no further evidence of Morcrass' employer? No, but as Siercon mentioned, Dovanna is tracking the Archer to- Right, of course. Call him back. I'm sorry? Call Dovanna back. We need to be protecting Duplovia, not chasing a mercenary halfway across the High Kingdoms! With all due respect, the Archer may lead us to their base of operations. Who knows what we may uncover? And if this is all yet another false lead? If the Norghs are on their side, as well as several mercenary groups, anywhere could be a trap. For now we fortify. Prevent an attack like this from happening again. Duplovia shall be prepared for any invasion, by terrorists or otherwise. If Morcrass' men do manage to manipulate Delfrin, we will be ready. Have I made myself clear? No, sir, you have not. And why is that? All resources should be put into uncovering the true identity of the Employer. If they have the resources to sneak an assault force into the mines without your or one of the other nearby kings knowing, they are dangerous. Morcrass is a terrorist, and this Employer is something worse. They've manipulated the Norghs, who knows what forces they will sway next? My decision is final, Eyric Rone. Now, heroes, is there anything else you would add? Quote
-obelix- Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Thalion started, but stopped himself before saying anything, and after a short pause finally said, "No, nothing to add." Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Siercon started, humbly interjecting into the conversation. "Sir, I respect your decision... I plan on holding this as security against the Archer in the future, as his fury of weapons is a fearful thing I'd prefer not to experience again without this edge. Perhaps even to get a jump on him. Still, Thalion and I could be persuaded to give it up." As he said this he gave a nod to Thalion, weighing his reaction. He, was carefully calculating the potential yield. Paying one person extra, would seem like satisfying a single selfish person, paying everyone extra seems like a scam... but two specific people... shows an accepted inter-party division of ownership, separating and increasing the value of the item, as well as doubling the personal cost in danger of losing it. Siercon showed the note and continued. "I hacked The Archer's secret cache and found this inside. You may find this an 'upper hand to apprehend', as these are not false leads... One, could find great value in it's (referring to the note) ability to: 1. Find him, as we know his next move. 2. Frame him and cause devision in the enemies forces by allowing this letter to be 'intercepted' implying it to be sent to one of you, showing him to be a double crosser. 3. Place fear in him as the mere presence of this letter in enemy hands, shows that The 'greatly mysterious' Archer's identity has been cracked. He who holds this letter, know's who he truly is, as the lock itself held the clue." 4. Help identify 'Her'... She is at the very least, someone important to him. 5. In addition, we now have a perfect sample of his penmanship... 6. Lastly, and possibly most importantly. This states that Rone has been suspicious of his activities. From this we can deduce that he is someone in close proximity to him (prior to our hire), in order to notice his suspicion. Beyond telling us that the employer is a Male, the Employer... Is most likely within the ranks of Duplovia." He then carefully studying the reactions of the Duplovians in the room. "Many of these options would help you maintain your priority of city defense as you have stated, while using little to no effort to pursue the identities and keep impending malice on the defensive." Siercon gave a gracious half bow or nod, as one could have considered it both. His last statement was specifically placed there for the king to have the option of 'changing' his mind and take heed of the others without losing face. This way, his plan would still be presented as the foremost priority. As he slowly started to fold the letter up and place it in his cloak, he waited and hoped for a reply to cut him off in his actions of putting such a letter away for good. Wedge09 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 "This won't solve anything, closing your doors and retreating in your castle won't help you. Once the Employer and the Archer would regain their power, they will return stronger than before and our help will come too late; and we can't be there every time, too." Alexander tried to spoke as quietly as possible but he tried anyway to make the king change his ideas. Nodded at Siercon's speaching "We know his next move, don't waste the opportunity that is being presented." the elven archer was ready to support Siercon, even with the use of the force, if necessary. The Legonater Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 Wait- Ah, interesting. Somoril takes the note in his hands and looks through it. Yes, very interesting. I'm afraid my decision is unchanged for the moment, but this will surely help us in future investigations. See, if anyone on this Employer's side catches notice of Dovanna, they will move. Change their plans. However, if we fortify and keep an eye from afar, not only will we be prepared for their next strike, but we can catch them doing it. Move fast, beat them at their game. I... suppose that makes sense. We will take this note and analyze it to the best of our ability, I assure you. For now, I do believe the quest has been victorious! Siercon and Coral Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) "There is one last thing." Siercon said, disappointed to be seemingly giving this letter away for free. Still, Rone knew the true identity of The Archer, and he seemed very competent. He supposed things would be safe as long as he was around. "I would like to visit your marketplace on our way home. My friends here have been before, and still to this day carry pieces of your craftsmanship, but I have not had the pleasure myself." Siercon respectfully finished.
