Fuppylodders Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) Hi people! Long time since I have uploaded anything... But seeing as I got my wish that TLG were making a microfighter AT-AT, I couldn't wait to see it. When I did, I was slightly disappointed with it. It jsut didn't seem quite so... detailed... as I'd have imagined it to be. (Yes, I know it's a microfighter!) So anyways, I finally got round to trying to design my own yesterday, and finished it just a few moments ago. Sorry it is only on LDD but I dont have all the parts, and won't have the money to place an order until October :( It is designed to be built in real life with gravity and stuff considered :P So, here he is! Sir Brickalot Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Awesome, this looks miles better than TLG'S version. Quote
Rishab N Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Really good looking in such a small scale Quote
Mr Man Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Oh, nice job, it's got all the important parts with a good level of detail as well as the shaping . Quote
Mahtion Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 For accuracy this model is top notch and looks great. As a microfighter it doesn't capture the same stylized proportions but is more of a downscaled ATAT. Not to say that this is a negative, it simply doesn't match the existing Microfighter collection. Fuppylodders Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Thanks for the comments guys :) For accuracy this model is top notch and looks great. As a microfighter it doesn't capture the same stylized proportions but is more of a downscaled ATAT. Not to say that this is a negative, it simply doesn't match the existing Microfighter collection. I see what you mean... Do you think maybe a slightly bigger head, shorter legs and maybe bigger feet might match the proportions a bit better? Quote
Zerobricks Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 A suggestion. Use the new mixel joints to give legs and head more movement. Otehr than tthat good work. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted September 22, 2014 Author Posted September 22, 2014 Mixel joints! Of course! I completely forgot about those Quote
markus1984 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Stunnin! Absolut great job on the AT-AT! So small but you have build it with so many details - really fantastic!! markus Quote
Robianco Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 This looks great... I wouldn't worry too much about scaling as I think this one is FAR more accurately scaled than the 'soon to be released' AT-AT MF (although the TLG version is VERY cute). Quote
Fuppylodders Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 But that is just it isn't it, MF's are meant to be sort of chibi-like with space for a minifig to be plonked in? Or am I misinterpreting how they are? And some seem to look chibified simply because they have been designed with the intention of a minifig to be plonked in? I'm actually a bit confused now lol By the way, used a 1x2 plate with the ball socket on it for the neck. Gives full head rotation in any direction which I think is a great function, so thanks Zblj for the idea :) The legs have been changed for mixel joints too, while still remaining the same plate sizes so nothing has changed other than its joints being more maneuverable. Im struggling how to design stumpy legs with some sort of decent flexibility for 'play' function Quote

Or am I misinterpreting how they are? And some seem to look chibified simply because they have been designed with the intention of a minifig to be plonked in? I'm actually a bit confused now lol It sort of depends on which Microfighter is being discussed. I think they are, in fact, supposed to be chibified, but some of them show it far more than others. For instance, the TIE Interceptor doesn't look very chibified, even though it definitely is, and the Millennium Falcon and the Clone Turbo Tank look pretty straight-up, actually. I guess I like this model more as a micro AT-AT than as a Microfighter, but then, I only own the handful of Microfighters that I own for the parts and minifigs. Quote
