Dapper-D2 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) As I entered the junkyard on Ord Mantell looking for Boba Fett...I quickly realized I had made a grave mistake...I forgot about the junkyard DOG! Edited September 24, 2014 by Dapper-D2 Quote
LegoFjotten Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Hi Dapper, did you check if that size base layout is allowed? Not sure if it's strict 16x16 max or if alternate layouts are ok. Quote
Dapper-D2 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 I did not check, I just assumed that it was okay. Hopefully MKJoshA can verify before the deadline? Quote
MKJoshA Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I will have an answer for you as soon as possible. Quote
Yzalirk Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) This entry doesn't remind me of a junkyard nor Ord Mantell, assuming that's the planet you went with. And it's not on the 16x16 base that was applied in the rules. Edited September 23, 2014 by Behemoth Quote
MKJoshA Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 It has been decided that this entry does not meet the qualifications. You need to keep it no longer than 16 studs on any side. Hopefully you can modify this entry before the deadline so that it can still count. Quote
MKJoshA Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Good job keeping the same feel to your build. It still doesn't look very Star Wars-y but it at least gets another entry for the Rebels. Quote
Disco86 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 It still doesn't look very Star Wars-y but it at least gets another entry for the Rebels. Seriously if you are counting this as an entry it is ridiculous... it has nothing to do with the task and there isn't any effort in it. Quote
GallardoLU Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 (edited) ok, I can't hold my tongue on this one, and I hope I'm not out of line saying this build feels a bit insulting. the build has some neat features (the cow head was clever) and I get that time is running out and both sides are pushing to get troop counts but I see nothing here except your sigfig that makes me think this is in star wars or even any scifi world. I can except low quality builds and rushed even unfinished ones, but I just don't see how this one has anything to do with the episode. Edited September 24, 2014 by GallardoLU Quote
Dapper-D2 Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 I've updated picture with new design. I hope it's more Star Wars'y? Go Rebels! Quote
Aland1916 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 It looks great, a lot more detailed with nice sci-fi bits! Quote
Yzalirk Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 It's great that you changed the base but it still just doesn't like very Star Wars-like in my honest opinion. Quote
MKJoshA Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Due to the fact that this build has drastically changed from when it was first entered to now as well as it not really falling within the Rebel factions goals we have decided to disqualify this entry. I'm sorry Dapper-D2. I appreciate all the work you've made in changing this build, but for this contest we are going to have to say "no go." Quote
Dapper-D2 Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) How is changing the build a problem? I thought all entries were considered WIP until the deadline. Also I'm at the junkyard looking for Boba Fett, which is the goal right? Edited September 25, 2014 by Dapper-D2 Quote
markus1984 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I think the new entry is very good! Nice technique and details BUT for me it doesnt look like Star Wars - Sorry! markus Quote
MKJoshA Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 The rules below are the reason we've decided to disqualify this entry: The Rules: 3. The Alliance's goal is to depict a scene showing their troops trying to track down Boba Fett and finding out that he has already moved on to a different planet. 15. All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC. However, due to the time sensitivity of this contest your entry will be disqualified if the judges deem that you have abused this rule. Improving your build will be allow, entering a “minifig-on-a-plate” to have the most troops on a planet and then improving your entry later to earn more XP will not be tolerated. I'm glad you're a part of SoNE and I hope to see more builds from you in the future! This disqualification was not personal and you were not the only person disqualified. Keep up the good building and I'll hope to see some freebuilds in the coming weeks! Quote
LegoFjotten Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) I agree that the entry is missing some Star Wars feel (which surely would have had a big impact on the score had it not been disqualified). The disqualification however, I think was pretty harsh since the update of the build was (at least to me) clearly a response to the criticism and not an attempt to cheat - which I am 100% certain that Dapper-D2 did not attempt to do. Edit: MKJoshA's response was posted while I typed this, so I just want to add that I respect the jury's decision even though I don't agree with it - I am not looking to prolong the discussion. I do this for fun and relaxation. I'm not going to argue the point anymore, because I don't feel like it will change anyone's minds. I will try and have more inspired builds next time and admit that I struggled for ideas on this episode more so than on the others especially in regards to the execution into Lego form. Keep up the great work! I know it is no easy task for you and the other Mods. Quote
