Hey, fellow brickers! I was perusing through reviews on all the Creator house sets, and my kids are pretty keen on them. However, some of the older, out of circulation sets are $100+ USD. My question is this: are there any unique pieces/parts to these sets, or could I just download the instructions and parts inventory and simply go to town Bricklinking them? I'd like to have them for my kids to play with and, let's face it, eventually destroy n rebuild, but I'd rather not pay modular set prices. Thanks for anyone's input!

The older Creator sets are all generally made of relatively common pieces, so I doubt you'd have trouble just Bricklinking the pieces. Good luck!

Download the instructions. Nothing all that unique. You can get creative and substitute parts or colors to keep costs down.

Yes, most of them are pretty straightforward.

We did a few of them, and had very little problems.

A tip might be to just create a wanted list in BL using the set number, thus letting BL add the parts to the wanted list.

With the Show all option of the wanted list, you can check the different parts availabilites, and spot any bottle necks.

Best of luck; it's a fun project!

PS We paid substantially less for the sets than when we had bought them on eBay or the likes.

We always buy new parts only, and from Dutch sellers only.

The parts of the oldest two (4886 and 4956) contain both a type of door that is exclusive to this set and the café corner set. And the other door from set 4956 also appears in Market street. This makes both parts (and thus the sets) significantly more expensive.

Most of the older houses didn't have anything really special in them, if at all. The newer ones might though.
