Zerobricks Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Hi guys! I started building my first model team model, its gonna be an Octan-colored racer with large wide tyres, detailed engine, etc... To see a sneak peak skip to 5:15 or click the Octan GT annotation in the navigation bar Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Yo, congratulations on the new job! Octan GT looks good so far - good way to move the pivot point towards the center of the steering wheels - I wonder how will you solve the steering since the gear rack is not moving in a straight line - can a bevel gear take it? And now for the camera - it looks fantastic - can you please provide a link? Could you also please show how did you attach it to your models - how easy is it to attach it? Quote
Dapper-D2 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Looks awesome! Love the engine and the steering. I have a lot to learn about these techniques. Can't wait for the finished model. Quote

You can easily attach a cmaera using a simple screw, which is screwed through a beam. I think its M6. I got the camera here: https://www.mimovrste.com/sportne-kamere-in-oprema/sony-hdr-as30?v=581039 I will later post the pictures of the almost finished model and the screws. Quote
Zerobricks Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Here's the finished model This is my first serious MT MOC in years and I think it was a fun challenge to make. As you can see the model has a lot of details, I think I did quite well, even though my collection of studded parts is rather low... I am especially proud of the steering and the engine details. From a technical standpoint the model has steering with virtual pivot point inside the wheels, which is actuated by the rear exhaust. The doors and the rear bodywork can be opened. To keep the rear bodywork from openning on its own I used a small holder disguised as antenna on the rear of the roof. To open the doors I used the mixel joints. The rear parts can also be opened to expose the engine You can see the worm gears used to represent springs in the rear: The sngle seat with the steering wheel and gauges: And lastly the shot of the chassis. Notice the steering axle actually goes all the way through the engine. And here's a video with more details: @MajklSpajkl this is how I mount the camera on the models... Crude but effective: Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I love the model, perhapse a stud ot two wider car would look even more mean! The inly thing (well 2 actualy) that I would add is white 1x2 tile above the lights... Well, the video answered my question - small bevel gear does the job with the gear rack under angle quite ok. Good job with the front mudguards!!! Quote
Dapper-D2 Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) Wow, great looking car. I love the exaggerated proportions. My favorite entry so far. Awesome job! Also using the mixel joints on those doors was a perfect idea especially with the way they have to open an close. Edited September 30, 2014 by Dapper-D2 Quote
Rishab N Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Nice work. I like the pneumatic tubing for the engine details Quote
Hrafn Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I love it! The front mudguards are very clever. The whole thing has a sort of Lancia Stratos feel to it, which is never a bad thing. Quote
grum64 Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I like this very much. It's a really nice build. Well done Zblj Quote
Paul Boratko Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 That is pretty wild..! I really like it..! Quote
