Not much of a story this time. Phase I can be found here, and the obvious inspiration for the tower itself, Combee's wonderful WoW-inspired Ogre Encampment, is here. I'm still unsure how the legs connect to the tower platform in his; mine is a very shaky connection via hinge bricks. Had a lot of fun trying to figure it all out!

Over a year after Ruggezh and Tark of the Grashtaz tribe killed the guards of a small outpost, an Orcish tower had emerged in its place. Moving quickly after the scouts returned with news of their conquest, the Dwarven outpost was demolished, the orcs not even bothering to clear out all of the debris--even building upon it, and displaying the remains of the slain guards. The tree next to the outpost was struck down and used to build the rickety tower, along with several other nearby trees. Emboldened by their success and with a foothold in this mountain pass, the orcs invaded the nearby mining town and became entrenched in the region. The dwarves and humans, however, were already drawing plans to drive the orcs back to the Marches and fortify the southwest...

"Alas, poor Thorgal...."

They shredded the Mitgardian flag, but the colors still shone brightly!

The stump of the tree remains, and a tumble of ruined stone serves as crude steps to the ramp spiraling around the tower.

In addition to removing the original outpost (built on a couple 6x12 plates attached via jumpers to the greater base), I rearranged several pieces of the surrounding base, mostly what were meant to be loose stones, kicked around as the orcs built their new tower. See the rest on my Flickr!

Thanks for taking a peek!

Good work here. I'd say for future that a little more in the landscaping could go a long way on a build like this, where the eye is following up the structure.

Pretty sweet build, the stairway looks nice and shaky. A agree with mccoyed about a tad more landscaping. More mountainside would give a nice backdrop to the build. Also, I think photographing this on a solid white background (including underneath the MOC) would really make this shine.

Very nice build, very orcish! Great work!

Excellent work! The orc feel is captured nicely here. :)

Nice tower, very orcish :) bring on phase 3 :)

Thank you! Glad the orcishness came thru.

Reminds me in certain ways of the Orc Forge set, which is very good, because it looks very orcish indeed!

Hadn't even thought of the Orc Forge set, really, but the aesthetic of the Orc Forge and Goblin King Battle are kinda right there in my thoughts on "orcish", along with the Troll Mountain Fortress and Combee's very WoW-orcish Ogre tower

Nice tower, I especially like the ramp leading up to the top. As the others have said it does look like orc's built it. Cant wait to see your phase 3.

Thanks! I haven't done much more than sketch ideas for Phase 3, but I'm itching to build it, so I can use the same base (and then scrap it all to focus on other AoM and Challenge III builds).

Really cool orc tower! I love the supports and the long walkway up to the top.

Thanks! Again, tho, it's mostly stolen from Combee's build. My walkway doesn't cling to the tower as snugly, hence the extra supports at the turns, but it was fun to do.

Very cool build.

Thank you!

Very cool! Love how you've continues the story from your previous build, and this series is definitely a different take on the tower!

Thanks! I wanted to try something a little different, having the evolution occur in the same location but by different factions taking turns... I hope to continue that in some of my other builds, like the wall, gatehouse, maybe a few others.

I feel like I was a little trapped by the Phase 1 there... I wanted it to be the same base, and I only built those slivers of mountainside on the edge there... I'll see if I can expand them a bit. I tried to make the ground beneath the tower interesting with the rubble of the previous phase's stone outpost.

Thanks... yeah, some more mountainside would be nice. Maybe I'll take a crack at that before demolishing this tower for Phase 3... and I gotta figure out a white backdrop, too... I don't really have a good photo spot yet, just the card table near a wall in the living room! I'm sure there's a thread or two about all this that I've forgotten I meant to read ages ago!

Thanks for the comments... and thanks again to Combee for building the MOC that inspired this whole idea!
